Will G1 ROM's work with the MT3G 1.2? I was reading somewhere that it did but want to see if its true? if it does what requirements are needed as to SPL and Radio?

It REALLY depends on the ROM. If possible, ask the developer before you try to flash it. Which ROM do you want to use that's meant for the G1?
Well right now i'm trying to just find a really good ROM based for a MT3G really. I dont like froyo as it always seems to drop service ideally i'd like to use a eclair or sense based ROM really.

I've heard several places that the sapphire 32A and hero has the same hardware, so it's basically the same phone on the inside. I was therefore wondering, are we (32A users) able in some way to flash roms for hero?

So after flashing the spl, radio and recovery I'll be able to flash any ROM made for hero on my 32A without porting?
no you can't just flash any hero rom cause you will need special kernel with support for the hardware of your sapphire. but with that in mind it should be possible if you just flash a custom kernel onto it

So i have a g1 rooted. But i want to upgrade and have 375 dollars to put towards a phone. can you root the new mytouch 1.2 and are the roms for it worth it? with the extra ram id like to run a sense or espresso rom, but if they are not 100% i do like cyanogen roms. Is it worth the upgrade ? and should i get the 32A phone since it has more ram? will all of the mytouch / ion /magic /saphire phones work on tmobile 3G???

well all mt3g 1.2's are 32a but not in the tradtional sense your used to.
Yes you can root it and run most roms that you were running on your g1 they have been ported. I am running a 2.1 no problem as for sense ui no idea i hate those roms but i believe they work just fine.

cool thanks, now im not afraid to get a 1.2. is there a thread or a link you can share with me that tells you how to root a 1.2, i know its not the same as the older ones

It seems i can never get any 2.1 heros to run on my phone. i use firerats patch but it just hangs at my splash screen. when i dont use his patch it hangs at htc. any help?

That's because the kernel isn't compatible with a 2.x radio.

2nd that. They all suck. Pretty to look at, but dont expect anything to work fast. Even with all the tweaking and tryin all the sense roms, there is no hope. The dream is under powered hardware wise, so stick with an eclair ROM for the best daily use and prettiness.
Hey I just want to know what roms you guys got out there, I'm currently using complete eclair on my touch 1.2, and !everything! runs smoothly and works...At least until now.
look at the rom bible in the rom development section he has a list of all 1.2 roms there.
yea but I just wanted to know what people were using, of course I knew about the rom bible even though it doesn't list every compatible rom for the 32A...

my apologies i missunderstood you.
So i have the mt3g 3.5 jack, i have the CyanogenMod 6.1.0 , now can any one tell me the best things to install on the phone to make it faster like the best new rom, radio,and ect to install?
Depends on what you want. If you want all the features of cm then.. I would suggest cos but that's been slimmed up recently... that green rom project cm7 or maybe Ginger yoshi.
If you want light and fast then go with ezgingerbread.
and either stay on your current radio and spl or,if your bored and really want to, upgrade to the 28.25 radio and 0013 spl. It won't make too much of a difference
