Has anyone else had this? As soon as you select "import from SD" in contacts, you get an android.process.acore FC. I've tried all types of phonebook file format, i've even exported and tried importing from that. It looks like it's crashing the moment you press the button so i don't think it's to do with the file itself, more like a system bug. Any ideas?
How far are we away from the official release of froyo anyway?

I have been trying to download attachments sent to my gmail account and am having some problems.
A small pdf file (15k) will download fine, i click it, it opens, no problems.
If I download an mp3 file of a couple of meg it downloads then the icon switches to the generic unknown extension icon and nothing happens. I click the file and it says the download cannot be found, would I like to download again.
I checked all over the net, people were saying they delete the mail folders on the memory card, switch and swich back and it works, but no matter what i do, removing and resetting up the account, restarting, redownloading, setting the settings to download entire message with attachments, moving form internal memory to storage and back several times. No luck.
I found that if I go to the attacment folder, rename the file there to .mp3 it will play in media player, so it has downloaded, it's just not getting renamed and moved to the right place.
It's driving me absolutely mental now, has anybody else had any experience with this problem or got a solution?
Anybody know the location of the registry keys to set the attachment save location so I can check this also?
No?
Can anyone atleast tell me if this works for them or not, even if not the actual solution, atleast so I can stop searching for a fix if there isn't one.
So, I've searched, I've looked, I've scoured, and I seem to be coming up empty handed.
I was able to get all of my contacts from WinMo into .VCF format, now when I toss them all on my SD card, and try to import them using the importer in Froyo, every time is fails to find them. Is there a specific directory they need to be in, or is importing these just not an option since Android is running off of the SD card itself?
Thanks in advance.

can't you import those to your gmail contacts on your computer and then let them sync?
I never thought of that, to be honest, but I can only do one contact at a time using that method, it seems.
Also, another strange thing happening when I import them using Gmail, some contacts auto-synch with a person's Facebook profile, while others do not. Any thoughts on this?
I have been trying to get my roomates Fascinate on a custom rom+kernel but for some reason whenever the first boot of a new rom syncs, all of the contact names appear but with no phone #'s. Every name has the G next to it (Gmail) but none of the names actually have an email assigned to them...Any idea how to get the phone #s back? or what in the world is going on.
Also I did make sure all of the "what to sync" boxes were checked when originally backed up.
Thanks for your help!

Fascinate - on Zinc ROM + Voodoo
This probably won't help you now but in the future you can just export your contacts directly to your sdcard and not have to worry about them syncing or not. Just go to contacts press the menu button, select more select export/import then press export to sd card.
Do this once and you'll always have a backup handy that will never be effected by wipes/restores and doesn't need to be synced, just imported via the same method as above but selecting import from sd card instead of export to sd card.

Wow it's that simple haha, thanks for the tip I wont make the same mistake again. Now if I can only find the current lost numbers I will be in business.
This has happened with several builds. Clean off SD and install fresh Android build, in this case it was Moto234_eVo_Carbon v3.2. Sync contacts from Outlook. Let phone sit for a few hours and upon return it's running WinMo. Load Android back up and all of my Sync'ed contacts are missing. Try to re-sync and it won't copy the contacts anymore.
Is there a file I can delete and try to re-sync? This is a real deal breaker if it can't be solved.
Nobody has this problem? Anyone importing contacts with Outlook?
Just to say, I'm using exchange to sync my contacts, mail and calendar, and have not had this issue. I have suffered the random reboot, and also a corrupted data.img (leading to all the processes being stopped). Don't know if that helps any....
i had a similar problem with a lot of builds. when my battery was running out and phone shuts down, i got the android.contact error all time. but my contacts were still there...
i think you can't fix this (tried nearly everything), i had to make a fresh install.
I'm having an issue here that's driving me crazy. My vcard won't import. I mean it does, it says it's importing, and even says it's finished in the notification area but when I look in my contacts it's empty.. this happening to anyone? I'm getting pretty frustrated here.
It's happening on both the latest CM12 nightlies and GPe Roms.
Make sure the visibility is set correctly.
And have you tried opening the vcard directly. I mean, instead of selecting import from within the contacts app, go to the vcard, tap on it and choose to open with contacts.
