lol same here, i drained my battery playing with the new animations and all that, i uninstalled launcher pro before even trying the new adw
I just can't use anything or even a build that doesn't have the scrolling wheel at the bottom. It's a must have for me.

This + NAND = nexusS quality experience?
Either way, very nice launcher!
I was hoping there was a demo or a lite version to experience it a little bit... this way I am not sure if I am sold on it - gotta pay $3 to experience - to late for refund then.
we'll see what happens in reviews - so far it looks pretty kewl
Juts download and install applanet, You will get all the latest paid versions for free, This is what I use to "test" programs and if I like them I buy them, If I dont like them or find something wrong with them I bin them.

Hello!
GDE launcher anyone tried? I now use it because I like doing dice table, the animation is spectacular.
looks decent,
features i use the most on launcher pro...
continuous scrolling dock
(dock) swipe up to:
-launch another app (2 actions per icon)
-show 'leap' view
-show notifications
can anyone say if these features are available in this?
many thanks

i believe it has everything except the dock swipe
Do you know where I can suggest the dev some features ?
Most important for me is : set the default screen to the first one not the centre, put the "1-icon dock" on the right or left and not only in the centre, be able to choose the icons background.
Fantastic job for the rest. Super fast...
Edit : can someone confirm me that ADWNotifier works with this ?
Take care if couldn't be refunded after I tried it. I prefer the miui ui

The refund period recently changed to 15 minutes, contrary to the 24h earlier. What kind of person proposed this change, I don't know. This short timespan barely left me with any time to test ADW EX, so I ended up asking a refund because I don't feel like buying a product I'm not sure I like.
In short: it's not the devs fault.
Liking it...
.. but doesnt feel faster to me compared to launcherpro
Yeah sure you can set the homescreen transitions to fly by alot quicker than you can in LP, but overall LP just feels smoother to me.
Apart from that, my currentwidget now hovers between 9-16ma in standby, where my phone was consistant between 6-9ma with LP.

Oh ok thanks. I thought I still had 24h with the older market but i was wrong. 15mn is way too short!

Certainly too short to really try a launcher that looks and acts seemingly like another one. Not enough time to find out any specific nuances that we may like.
In fairness though, I can't see any reason why anyone would change launchers to use this. They all look the same to me, with a few "little" features that hardly make the transition worthwhile.
Not knocking the app itself. Just don't get reinventing the wheel, and then releasing newer versions of it.

Haha nicely worded.
been using LP for about 3 weeks now, love it, however i just got ADW, been using it for like 30 minutes, and extremely loving it.
The one important thing i noticed:
w/ 7 screens in LP fully packed w/ widgets, folder, apps...when you 'pinch' the screen to view the preview screens it stutters. Like it lags the first time you 'pinch' it, after that initial swipe, it is fine. This got really annoying, especially when coming out of sleep mode.
w/ 7 screens in ADW EX fully packed w/ widgets, folder, apps...when you 'pinch' it is still smooth as silk, coming out of sleep mode as well.
I'm still comparing the two for now, i'll keep you all updated
comparing both w/ DS's SupperRam 1.5
If u havent tried it, go get it! The best. Grab it in the market for free.

Go sms pro is pretty phat too.
I think it's hands down the best launcher out there. The Honeycomb theme is awesome with it.
Very nice!

I loved the launcher, but ended up trying out others for a second time when they were already bundled with ROMs. Also, as far as I know, GO Launcher EX doesn't allow for higher grid settings on homescreens, which is absolutely essential to my current setup. If this has changed, I will surely go back, as I loved how smooth it was and how much customization there was elsewhere in it!
Also, I second GO SMS Pro (was just GO SMS, just added features in Pro, like the long-awaited, at least for me, support to check drafts! and is still free).
They update a lot, and not in a bad way. They're usually adding more and more features. Ever since I found out about the GO Dev Team when actually looking to use Handcent or Chomp SMS, I've loved 'em.
I just hate using free launchers cause I have ones I paid for. :-/

That's kind of how I feel, too.
Go Launcher EX is the business. I think so many people are loyal to ADW and Launcher Pro though(why, I can't figure out). I'll bet you that most folks who have tried all three will tell you that Go Launcher EX is superior. The fact that it's free alone sets it apart. And the regular updates are a nice plus too... If you haven't tried it I suggest you do. Then come back here and give an honest opinion of it.
I tried it but can't remember what it was that turned me away. I admit, it has been a little bit so I'm sure it's better.
Does it have it's own widgets. gesture swipes, resizable widget option, able to change app icons on your homescreens, ability to choose any dock you want? These are some of the things I love on ADW ex/ LPP.
It may very well have some of these things now, it has been a bit. I'm on a Sense kick right now, but I'll give it another look.
I love go launcher but I need to reload the icons when I come out of the browser our youtube.

I wouldn't go as far as saying go launcher is superior that's a little much eh? Its good but its not great. I've used almost every launcher out there for more than a weeks at a time each and I always come back to adwEX.
I'm interested to see what this complete rewrite of Launcher Pro...whenever it happens....will bring to the table.

The answer is YES to all of your inquiries, execpt for the 1st one(it's own widgets).. Atleast, I dont think it has it's own widgets, but it has so many add-ons, so there might be one. But YES, it has gesture swipes, you can resize the widgets, app icons can be changed on the desktop and in the dock, you can change your dock, the dock is scrollable and supports up to 15 apps, etc...

The main reason I called it superior is because it's FREE.. and the other two that are comparable are not(ADW EX and LP+). Of course once you put price aside, the opinions are gonna vary as to which launcher is better. To me the 3 are very comparable though.

Same here. I'm a LP user 100% of the way. ADW has a lot of flash but poorly designed, Go Launcher is actually okay but performance isn't all that great. LP is very well designed and very fast. Can't wait for the rewrite.

Yeah I'd hate to not use ADW EX simply because I paid like $3 for it
Only thing that's pissing me off is adwEX hasn't been updated since beginning of January. I hope anderwebs is cooking up some hot features, buts I've purchased adwex, launcher pro plus, and launcher 7. I like to switch back and forth. Go launcher being free simply doesn't make it superior; what's 3 bucks when you can buy 2 launchers for the price of one Burger king combo lol. I bought them to try them all and go launcher simply isn't that impressive. You need to try some paid launchers man I bet you won't find yourself saying that anymore.

They added the feature but the max is 5x5, combine that with the fact it does not support shuttered dpi and I have to say LPP is still my favorite.
It's cool and neat but far from owning the competition at this point.
I have Launcher Pro plus, ADW Ex. I've always liked ADW Ex better because -
- lockable screens. Can't tell you how many times I've accidentally moved stuff or even dropped and deleted (or had a friend do that while looking at my phone)
- performance especially with the homescreen transitions
- easily edit and resize icons/shortcuts
- I have Pure calendar and Beautiful weather widgets, so I don't really miss LP widgets.
- got tired of waiting for the "re-write" (not a criticism - I just itch for new stuff)
Go Launcher
Pros
- Matches everything ADW Ex does
- Unread Notifications even on the dock (not on ADW, even with notifier)
- Much easier to manipulate entire screens
- discovered go sms - it's gorgeous!
Cons
- Haven't seen a "lock" feature yet. Need to explore.
- Performance doesn't have the same "snap" to it as ADW Ex, but I need to explore and tweak that a little more
Pretty pleased with Go Launcher Ex so far, I'll use it for a while and check.
I love the speed of my iconia tab but I honestly thought swiping through honeycomb would be a little faster. Does anyone use alternate home launchers with their tablet? I don't know if this is possible or not. I love the interface so I'm content but just wanted to get people's opinion on this and any particular launchers they really like.
Sure is possible. I loaded go launcher ex just to try it out and it worked fine. I would like to know if anyone is using a launcher specifically for tablets though, if there is even any available.
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
Yeah, that's what I was really interested in. A launcher built for tablets would be something fun to mess around with. I feel like it could be tailored specifically for tablet functions. Possibly something like new windows 8.
ADW Launcher EX works, and is updated for honeycomb.honestly, though, its nothing revolutionary, none of the launchers are. I went back to stock. It may not be really fancy but it works, and well.
Have you checked out spb shell 3d for tablets? I don't think its out yet, but they have a concept video, and it Looks amazing. There's a thread on here with the link, in the general section.

The one in the video doesn't exist, and the one that is out now doesn't work on the iconia. And you're not missing much, I messed with it on an X and it was just plain laggy
I'm using Launcher Pro with great results.
I 've got ADW Launcher on my phone so I tried it on the Iconia. Even though it's a great launcher, for me it didn't cut it. It made the tab look rather like a big phone. It would be nice to have a launcher that preserves the tablet feeling.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time for Tablet specific launchers to roll out.
Personally, however, I feel that they got to step up their game to make something that adds more functionality and is more efficient than what the stock HC launcher provides. I'm not into all the eye-candy - its function over form for me. (pointing my finger at SPB)
It was easy to raise the bar with Eclair on up to Gingerbread as those OS' were built for the phone and those environment were rapidly evolving (and in some cases, differently from manufacturer to manufacturer) - with Honeycomb and the tablet environment third party launcher developers have had the bar raised on them (in terms of usability, efficiency and hardware) so in my opinion, it could be tougher for them to step it up.
Time will tell.
If anything - I would like to see support for skinning the tablet. 1 skinning app, developers build skins - release skins - users downloaded skins - use skinning app to apply skins. Done.
Not sure if anyone has seen this, but it is really really nice. I like the look and feel of it.
Fusion Garage says that the Grid OS was built using Android code, so I was wondering if it could be ported to our TF once it's released. We'd use some features, like the integration with the Grid phone, but that's fine, and since that is also based off of Android, maybe it can be ported to phones as well. I think it'll be a great addition to our trusty TF and just be another reason why our tablet is the best.
Watch it here It's a little laggy in the video, but that's probably a pre-production model..
Ehhh, I'll stick with Android for now.
At least it appears to be better than their last effort.

I thought it'd be a nice idea. Now that I think about it, this OS would look great for a media center.
it seems like all they did was implement a launcher and apps. dunno why they needed to create a completely new OS to do that.

Although I would nvr buy a joojoo 2 the grid os seems cool, would be nice if someone made a launcher replacement versus porting the whole thing as it is not based off of honeycomb
read through the entire engadget post. apparently grid is based off of android and can run android apps there is just no access to the android market you have to use the amazon one or sideload them.
"The OS also has Dalvik virtual machine built in, so all of your favorite Android apps will work on the Grid 10 and Grid 4, but there's no access to the Android Market and it doesn't come with Android's normal bunch of Google goodies -- you'll have to go to Amazon or elsewhere for applications. That's why I thought it would be a nice OS to port. I'm sure some dev could give it market support like they did on the GTab which doesn't natively have android market.
But sure, if someone could remake/port the launcher to us and the multiscreen browser it'd be nice. I really like the launcher on it. The "clusters" is meh, but the design and way you move around is a nice change.
looks nice and smooth to me. I like it.
And i respect them keeping their chin up and admitting their last disaster.
Fusion Garage
I read somewhere that not only is the Fusion Garge OS built on Android, it is using some sort of java interface as well.
I think the interface is clean and I like the specialty features . . . the volume control, and a few other options . . . I know it isn't much . . . just saying . . . you know?
I've been using Nova since it came out basically and have moved around a little trying some of the new ones but I don't think I've had a fully set up experience on a different launcher since the Launcher Pro and ADW days.
I was wondering if there is a favorite launcher that people like especially if it makes the huge amount of screen space on the Note a little more usable. Currently with Nova I leave the top half of both screens mostly unfilled as it can be hard to reach.
Nova launcher pro version is neat, I got it 99 cents when there was a promotion.
The best thing is it allows you to back up your setting, so when you transfer data to a new phone, you can just use one click to have the exactly screen setting!!!

Yea that's I'm currently using. It's nice and all but I see a lot of launchers that do cool stuff like automatically figure out your most used apps and all that.
Another best launcher for me is Smart Launcher
Inviato dal mio SM-N960F utilizzando Tapatalk
I've used so many launchers. Best so far for me are a couple,
1. Microsoft launcher. Hands down the best, just needs more options.
2. Squarehome launcher. Because I'm a big fan of windows phones. This one is very very elegant and very well made. A little on the expensive side (I believe it was $7), but well worth the money. Only gripe is that its settings are all over the place and you have to get used to it to master its customizations.
3. CPL and hyperion if you want stock android launchers. Very nice launchers. Clean and fast. Hyperion has more customizations, but CPL is free.
4. Nova launcher. Have had it for over 4 years now. It has been mostly the same and getting a little too outdated. Dev needs to bring some new features around. Otherwise, competition will destroy them very soon.
5. Samsung One UI house launcher is phenomenal itself.
I've tried next launcher 3D and it was overwhelming then left it in about a month or so.
Using nova launcher. Fast and smooth. But downside when using samsung weather widget, resizing quite wacky.

nah, i rather have an rock solid launcher instead of some bloated one.
but besides. there isn't much missing on Samsung stock launcher nowadays. they now allow the swipe down from anywhere on the screen to bring up notifications.
i am only missing indefinite scrolling between homescreens and some advanced gesture options like double tap. once Samsung stock launcher can do this, i don't need nova no more.
Always been nova for me, but will try some of the others listed here.
Thinking about spicing up my screen a bit.
Another onecthstcwas light weight and free is Evie. It needs some work. The best thing I liked about it was I could get nadge icons on apps with out installing a helper application. Not as stated it needs a lite work.
I've been using Nova for years now and I have a hard time using something else, but I think Lawnchair is very promising
Nova launcher
Used nova for about 5 years on all my devices... I've found Evie last year... Never come back to nova!
I use Evie on my S8+, Note 9, Nexus 6 and Note 4 (yeah yeah...) and love it.
I am using total launcher. those who need customization should try this once.
Been using Nova for years, but the last few months I've been using Lawnchair V2. Really nice and simple, and they've implemented App Actions in the app drawer recently. Pretty handy.
Used Total Launcher for a long time. Very customizable but somewhat complex.
Recently switched to Nova Launcher along with Kustom Live Wallpaper (KLWP). This makes a great team, but like Total Launcher, lots of under the hood to get the right look for the power user.

This, all this.
I have briefly tried other launchers, but they quickly fail to live upto what I know of Nova.
I guess a lot of it comes down to me kind of wanting a launcher to give me a way of automatically improving efficiency not because I don't want to put the work in to figure out how to set up something complex but because I don't know what I want!
So far I'm digging the Microsoft Launcher but it doesn't do a whole lot that Nova doesn't. I've tried things like Niagara too but those tend to be a little overly simplified.
