[Q] ALL Android Versions on HD2 - Music Player - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

It plays fast.
That is, the tempo is wrong. It's like it's being overclocked or something in reference to the speed it should be playing.
Other than that these builds are good - some of them are good enough that I could sell my Vibrant - really.
But this is a killer for me... I love my music!
Does anyone have a fix for this?

Nobody?
Am I the only one with this? Or does nobody else care?
Incidentally, ringtones and everything else (e.g. voice on Google Navigator) is ALSO too fast.....

mines perfectly fine..

That's bizarre.... ALL Android versions do this on my HD2 - I'm running a bone-stock T-Mobile ROM on the Windows Mobile side, and it's fine there...
I wonder what the devil could be different?

I'm pretty sure that all u need to do is flash another rom. I've flashed many of roms before and it depends on the rom. So ur best be is to get another rom

Are all you guys running off something other than a stock T-Mo build as the WinMo "base"?

Yeah. The majority is running cooked roms as their WinMo base.

Interesting... I hardSPL'd and loaded a custom ROM - problem disappeared with Android...
God knows WHY the T-Mobile stock ROM had this problem, but...

I've the same problem, on a european hd2, with a cooked rom... Music is always fast (even on grooveshark app) but it's normal on youtube,on video, on streaming music ...
I had this problem on other build too !

Same issue here and I use the stock rom.

Congrats - you're the only person still running an original rom on here. And hopefully Android wont make it in here, after the 10 minute experience I've had of the Xperia 10 thingie.
Pretty sure im not the only person using a stock ROM, and I really was joking about android, if I wanted that I'd have got an android phone.
Hi conantroutman
I'm still using the stock ROM and have the Google YouTube app v 2.4.4 running fine. Had previously tried a HTC one and it stopped htc player from working so uninstalled it and all is now well.
Just installed that new rom from the original stock and the youtube app is working much better than before, video seems better quality.. everythings smooth etc!
Thanks guys, much better after flash, htc player and youtube working together in perfect harmony! brings a tear to my eye......
sms sent notification on the other hand is making me want to smash my face into the screen...........
Oh well, rough with the smooth and all that...............

[Q] CRAZY idea, but I want it!

Hey all!
Is it at ALL possible to either flash the ROM from the Touch Pro II or find a way to install Windows Mobile 6.0 or 6.1 onto the HTC HD2? I NEED stability in my ROM and this is what I really want to try.
I know I've been asking a lot of questions on this site regarding this phone, but I want you all to know I truly value your answers and your help.
Thank you guys!
Well have you tried the ROMs that are known to be stable? Theres quite a few..
Also maybe try titanium (windows default) if you're looking for simple, basic stability.
I have. I've tried four or five and they just get to be too slow. I like the Windows Mobile 6.5.5 builds but they just get to be laggy at times, and for a phone with a 1GHz processor I'd expect a whole lot more.
I don't know, I was just wondering what 6.0 or 6.1 would operate like on the HD2. That or find SOMETHING that's very quick and very stable.
Try Dutty's cdlc or UnOff.. What are you using the phone for? (work, eye-candy, both?)
I'm not sure about 6.1, can't see why anyone would want that on this device.
BTW, nice location just a few miles away from me..
Oh WOW! You ARE close to me! Haha, 253! Neat
I really want to use it for multimedia and texting first and foremost. After that I really just want to use it for internet browsing and photo uploading. Well, MMS capabilities are a must too.
After messing around with the ROMs I did, I jusst started to panic about making the wrong choice on the phone. I had hoped I didn't, however I want to take FULL advantage of the processor speed and the RAM. Definitely. Problem is, nothing works! AGH!
I'm currently using UnOff... and texting is still god-awful.
Have you tried Swype? Its a dream to work with once you get to know it. In fact, the reccord for txting was recently broken with Swype! I use Energy rom (The "unstable" 6.5.5 ver) and I do need to reboot the phone about once a week, but thats still a LOT less then my 6.1 Tilt. You really REALLY dont want to go back too 6.1, trust me. The OS does not have a lot of features needed for good use of the hardware in the HD2.
P.S. Woodinville and work in Redmond. Seattlites stick togeather!

Yeah UnOff is a good ROM, you could also try Laurentius26ROMs
SUP SUP WASHINGTONIANS!
Anyways, try the Omega XT Roms, indie updates them constantly and they are pretty good.
Oh wow, look at all of us Washingtonians here! WOW!
I'll try the UnOFF ROM again, or even an Energy ROM. I just want this to work and I'm sure you all understand why
Thank you guys for all your help! I'll let you all know what happens.
I would suggest either the Miri 17.6 rom which is very stable and fast and has great eye candy or VBN rom series. I currently running VBN and it's great. Very stable, no crashes, fast. I think you would like either one of them. They are both located on the Euro HD2 rom side, not the TMOUS HD2. Both are compatible with 576 ram and 1gig storage. Check them out.
try kwbr Roms ... I am on 4.0.1 version
Stock like ROMs
CruzerHD rom
What you are looking for is the CruzerHD rom my friend. Super fast, stable, and very very slim on memory (only 35mb used after flash).
Rom is not about eye candy but about speed/performance. You add what you want yourself.
CruzerHD premium rom v.9
Wow, guys, it looks like I have quite a bit of ROMs to try out! I really appreciate your time, y'all rock it!
try kwbr at htpedia.com
com2 version 21914 htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1692&page=102
I've tried them ALL! THIS ONE IS STABLE. period.
wow! there are a lot of washingtonians here! my mom and sister were born in WA, and i lived in Lacey for most of my grade school years. I almost became a Husky but decided i'd rather do grad school there and hopefully work for MS someday... Thats the dream anyways...
But, back on topic. I dont believe 6.0/1 is possible because the HD2's HAL is not compatible with with any 6.0 devices. basically, you'd have to re-write all the drivers in the Hardware Abstraction Layer so that they can talk with the 6.0 ROM. its the same reason WinPhone7 will probably never make it to our phones. ya see, there are no "generic" drivers for phones. thats why only phone with similar hardware can share ROMs.
i say use kumars ROM. its my personal fav
Man I know how OP feels, I was looking for a ROM & flashed Energy & it works like a dream! But now that I have Froyo 2.2 on here I hardly ever switch off of Android. It totally lives up to the hype!
Yeah WA!
I feel that a lot of the custom Roms have too much, well, customization. What you need is the barebones. Check this one out. Been using it since June and I have't had any slowdowns yet.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656835
And yes it was designed to work on the Tmous handset even though it's on the International handset forum. Works on both.

[q] [help] android on htc hd2 help!

Hello! Im very familiar with the HTC HD2 android development, particularly FroyoStone Series, and im having problems still. On their website, they say to have this:
ROM:Miri's 6.5 V18
and this
RADIO:2.10.50.26
And you will have no problems.
Problem is, i have all of that and still am having audio problems.
People sound like robots when they call me and all the sound through the external speaker is all hyped up and fast.
Please help me, im really sick of WINMO cause i cannot find a decent rom.
I really like android too.
Unless you have a GOOD WINMO ROM, just help me out with this problem please.
THANKS =]
For a good Winmobile rom check out:

Also dont forget to Task 29 your phone before you flash a new rom. It makes all the difference. And for the robot voice try the 2.08 radio in my oppinion it works better.
im using standard energy rom with 2.12.50 radio. and im running mdeejay DesireHD 3.0.5 (hastarin 4.1 kernel) no issues to report, other than known issues of BT and camera.
I also had luck with the 2.12.50 radios. Just flash different ones until you find something that works. Different parts of the country work better with different radios.

[Q] htc hd2 android vs htc desire

I am deciding to buy a phone: between hd2 and desire. I would prefer hd2 as it can have multi-os. I am a developer and it's a plus to have a phone support multi os so that i can develop and test on these os without having to buy multiple phones... i am planning to use android as my main os but i am wondering if it worth it..
I have been reading a lot of threads of android roms on hd2 and posting quite some questions lately about flash 10.1 support, battery etc..
the more i read about the android roms on hd2, i keep finding more and more issues(with some constantly repeating):
like robot voice where some people say it's fixed in one thread and in another more recent thread someone else says he still has the issue (and has to enable loudspeaker and turn it off or some say the phone freezes when they get robot voice and have to reboot); that's pretty annoying imo..
there's also low volume issue that i always see in every rom thread i read..
then there is vibration problem or phone not ringing, missed calls issues, battery drain issue, etc... (the list is quite big )
my question: do these issues exist in htc desire sock rom or desire's custom roms (i am a fan of customisation and will probably be flashing custom rom on desire if i buy a desire instead of an hd2)?
My primary concerns are
calls, sms (I will be using it for my work; so missing a call or having bad call quality or missing sms are not acceptable)
camera (should react quick a bug-free to take photos with default winmo quality)
music player (just need decent sound)
,
is there an android rom having all these 4 functionalities stable and bug-free (haven't found any yet.. been doing a lot of research and reading a lot of android rom thread)...
sorry for the long post and thx for reading it... waiting for your responses... depending on my needs. Hopefully, i will get the necessary advice to make my final decision. Thanking you in advance
You better post you question in the Desire HD thread.
Most of HD2 owner doesn't own a DHD.
If I where you... I will buy the DHD if you want only android (year... I know a lot will disagree with what I write...)
i'd pick hd2 especially if you're a developer. most of issues are eliminated by new builds and fixes. i have everything working on my hd2 and i can't complain on anything.
I'm not sure it's good to test apps on a phone which doesn't run a native os.
Maybe the emulator from an SDK will be a better "test platform".
But I'm not a dev so take my answer just "as it".

thx for ur replies.
@emjakmaciej :
you don't have any low volume call or robot voice issues? or no vibration/ringtone problem? what rom are u using?
yup i know hd2 is a developer's dream but i wanna be sure i can still be reliable as a phone! (make/receive calls properly, send sms with all notifications working well)
As far as I know, I have few issues with my build.
I can't say less than a real DHD as I don't own one.
Latest build (from some chef) are very good actually. And it improves days after days.
My wife as a stock HD2 and sometime it freeze also.

i ended up buying the htc desire lol.. mainly because HD2 seems too big imo although i must agree this is a damn good phone but finally i realised that i really want android and not much interested with windows mobile.. so i think a native android phone is better.. thx again for all your help and advices!
htc hd2 is much much better!
U can choose between three different softwares and many many custom-roms
One thing you need to realize it that most people only post in a rom thread because they are having problems. So really most of the feedback you will get in a rom thread is negative but this does not include all of the thousands of people who have no problems at all usually when people have problems it is because they did something wrong and isn't actually a Rom issue Android works %99 Perfect on HD2 you shoulda got one. You are missing out

I'm currently using my stock froyo ROM with sense, and using the nfinitymc4 kernel(which means I can overclock, this is the kernel you need if you are using a sense based ROM), I prefer this to CM, as I believe its easier to use, looks better and is as smooth performance as Cyanogen.

I'm also using just a stock 2.2 with sense. i tried a few others but with every installation the phone seemed to get slower and slower. I did it all right but meh... anyway mines just a stock 2.2, but rooted and i reckon it runs great (considering the hardware limitations that is....)
Ah. Well he won't be using any major apps
Hell be using WiFi at home and that's it aswell as other basic phone features (call, todo list/calendar) and maybe sms.
I just wanted it so he could push some more juice out the battery fully charged.
I'll stick to stock. Any modifications in order to improve performance on stock roms?
Sent from my Desire HD
I am the developer of SkEye ( I can't post URLs yet. Search on Android Market by that name). The app works fine on 99% of the phones but not on HTC Wildfire! On Wildfire stock ROM, the app receives a SEGFAULT and closes silently. This shouldn't happen for a Java application, and from the logs it appears to be a bug in the OpenGL implementation in the stock ROM.
I don't have a Wildfire phone myself; but I get lots of user reports by email and Market comments.
Since we are talking about the best ROMs, can you try my app on your ROM and see if you manage to not crash the app?
Here's the exact sequence of steps to reproduce the bug:
Set the location on first run. Approx location will do.
Click Menu -> Indirect Mode
Click Add new alignment
Select any object. Doesn't matter which.
Click "Return" or press the back key.
Search for any object (Menu -> Search or the Search button)
If the app doesn't crash after this, please let me know your ROM. I will recommend it to my users.
Thanks!
Does your app depend on the usage of a GPU? The Wildfire and the Tattoo are among the few phones that doesn't have it, so that could be the problem.

It does require OpenGL, but doesn't strictly require a GPU. The interesting thing is that the app doesn't crash outright. It crashes only after the above steps are executed. I will start a separate thread in the developer section when I get access to it. For now, I would like to know if its a ROM specific issue. Particularly, does the Cyanogen ROM have this bug or not.
It crashed here also, on latest CyanogenMod 7 nightly. The "called unimplemented OpenGL ES API" errors in the log are fairly common though, and happens with almost all apps using OpenGL, like games etc. They still work fine though.

This isn't a issue of cyanogenmod, its because an older version (gmaps 5) is running on the sense roms, you can deinstall on cyanogen the new version of gmaps and install the old 5.0 and its running like on a sense rom. So don't blame cyanogenmod ( the best mod for me so far), no offence to you but most of the complains about cm7 are about users don't know how to handle cm7.

I'm not knocking CM - I've used it and know the workarounds. However, the OP asked for the best sense ROM so I gave my opinion.
well i have tried, CM7, remPuzzle and jokerdroid. for me jokerdroid is the best, its very simple too, just flash the thing and you are good to go. i really like the aero theme too.

I've got 5.9 running on rempuzzle rom. which version does cm7 have?
I hate threads like this, each rom has its good points and also bad points too.....
Its all about preference try the different roms till you find one that suits you, its taken me nearly 3 months to make my mind up and trust me I've tested every rom. I don't believe in an out of the box rom as the customization of android is just unbelievable, every single rom can be tailored to your own needs, tweaked for extra performance and should be too, else what's the point in this community?
I've only been using android for around 5 months to its full potential and everyday I'm learning more and more ways to make my phone my own and as unique as I can make it.

I agree, but it's always good to get opinions so you know where to start. When I first started out on custom ROMs replies like "try them all" just aren't helpful.
