Hi,
I bought a Beta Dell Streak (the texas one) that I use on Telus network in Canada last month. I was able to setup APN information to work with 3G and everything was working fine.
Except, I don't know why today, when I turn 3G data option on, I don't receive any 3G signal on the top of the screen. I double check APN setting and everything is alright. Also, when I want to turn WIFI on, there is a message telling me that WIFI can't be turn on??? I don't understand.
So, I use the recovery method and select option 1 and do a factory reset. After reboot, I can now turn on WIFI, but I can't have a 3G data connection after setting again APN setting that work before.
Anyone know why I can't receive any 3G signal.
My TELUS APN setting :
name: TELUS SP
apn : sp.telus.com
proxy : 74.49.0.18
port : 80
Could it roaming to another network?
Did you mean you are on 2G?
Have you checked with TELUS ?
And check this link
Beta units are having their 3g capability disabled by other Telcos, maybe yours is the same? It was part of the deal when Dell released them that this would happen when the beta ended.
Ok, I talk with Telus technical support and the reason I wasn't able to go on 3g is that they change my plan. The guy tell me that I call yesterday to remove data and only keep phone and only keep phone and only sms. I never call them to do this??? After 30 minutes, everything is back to normal and they gave me 5gb extra promotion each month for their mistake for the rest of the rest of my contract.
The only still annoying is that sms take about 30 min to be receive this morning. It very long when you are in a discussions ???
Thanks

I just got my Streak a couple days ago and am looking for a plan.
So I guess it works fine on Telus - cool.
Can you tell me where you made these APN settings on the phone? I couldn't find them. Thanks.
@TooMuchFace
Yes, once you are pefectly setup with telus, the device work really great. I suggest you for the best plan is the 65 voice and data plan. So, for 65$ you get
300 minutes
1gb + 5gb for their current promotion on new activation = 6gb of data!
unlimited night and weedkend
+ one option for free :
Double minutes or unlilited sms or top 5 unlimited.
If you are a student, you can receive the same plan for 55$ each month.
You need to prove that you a student to have the rebate.
I found those apn info on telus website on how to setup data for smartphone.
if you need anything else, just ask or pm me.
Also @toomuchface
To set apn info, you go into option, wireless connection, mobile provider, acces point name, and click on the menu button and select new apn.

I am assuming you mean Cingular in the US. If that's the case .. please check this thread out ..

Ok..I really need help and I hope someone is willing. I do not understand this stuff enough to figure out what the post above was.
I am making calls. Surfing the web, but I can not send Text Messages.
Would someone be kind enough to treat me like the moron I am, and explain what settings I need and where to enter them.
I am still on the ATT network and have not switched over to a cingular plan. I have the old ATT charter plan with unlimited data. Thanks in advance

Anytime I have switched to another unlocked GSM phone my TXT messaging always worked by default (someone correct me if I am wrong) but the message desk # is in the SIM Card.
I have the same exact plan as you do and probably the same SIM (blue one)
Does TXT messaging work on other phones?
I called Customer Service and they had accidently turned off the text messaging. Now I can send, but I still can not get pics.
to make matters worse, I can not connect to the Internet. I keep getting a message that says,
"Cannot conect for an unknown reason....."
Before speaking to customer service, I could connect. I had not entered any settings and I could connect.
I tried the above settings and get the same message.
Anyone have any suggestions?
ring them back and tell them they have prob switched you data plan off lol

Java - Would you believe that is exactly what happened? They "accidentally" turned it off. I had a number of blunders like that with them. I do wonder if it is because I still have the old ATT Charter Plan. I have unlimited phone everything for $99 and unlimited data for $24.99. They keep trying to make me switch, but I am like NO WAY. Stuff like this keeps happening to me. I do wonder if they do on purpose.
ok, so I got a T-Mobile Wing. I live in Canada and I use my Rogers sim card on it. I don't have a data plan with my 'my5' plan. I was looking for Rogers GPRS settings on line and I went to this site: http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/376820-1.html
I entered 'Rogers internet.com settings' it says 'requires access to a Data access plan'. As I said, I'm not on a data plan, anyways after entering these settings:
apn: internet.com
username: wapuser1
password: wap
ip: 208.200.067.150
I was able to go on the net. Now, does anyone know If I will be charged for this? If so, is there a way I can goto a Rogers store or online and see how much data I've used and how much it will cost me? Or do I do nothing and wait for my next bill to see if they're gonna start to charge me?
Thanks!
as far as i know, yes, you are being charged for this.
i base that answer on this knowledge:
personally i have not bought an internet plan, and when i went to browse the internet (i thought i was on wi-fi only), there was a notification that my phone was connecting to GPRS. i of course cancelled that and then went in and deleted the Cingular internet settings that were on my phone to ensure that i wouldn't accidentally connect again, but when my phone bill came i was charged for a minute of internet usage.

If you want to make sure they don't charge you, call Rogers to ask them to block any data via GPRS. In about 2 hours of phone calls it should be done and any charge on your bill for data is their fault. A data plan with Rogers is a bad idea so you should cut this service right now.
I am not sure if my setup is causing this issue or not.
I have a US Dell AT&T unit running with an iPad unlimited data plan SIM card,
I have an APN configured with "Broadband" as the cingular APN's dont seem to work
with the iPad data plan.
It seems that the 3G data connection seems to drop randomly and I have to go into Mobile Networks and change the apn from and back to the Broadband entry to kick 3G back on.
I also have an issue where I go into any APP that uses GPS i.e Google Maps and it instantly kills 3G when the GPS kicks on. I can get it to do this every time.
I think it may be more related to the iPad SIM than anything, but I dont have a 3G SIM with a standard plan and voice.
I also have had major issues with the Rebel Sim II v1.1 and TMobile where EDGE data works for about 20 min and then never works again.
Anyone else see anything like this?
Also wondering if I have a defective Streak.
G
unlocked dell UK with 2.1 MCR, same problem.
I also initially thought the gps was the matter, but with Radardroid I don't have any issue. Also if I switch-on the gps from any widgets..
The connection shutdown with GOOGLE MAP
When i put my simcard (TIM italy) on streak, it set the apn for GPRS, WAP and MMS
I always use gprs and I have a limited (3G/month) flat-plan (in italy don't exist a full flat mobile connection!).
I don't have a plan for wap connection, because I do not use more than ten years!!
For me it is not the first time that I lose $$$ using involuntarily the (very old) wap connection, because some app call this connection. And it has always happened configuring gmail or using google map.
So I think that these google apps try to switch to using another connection with different apn
I tweaked my wap apn with a fake address.
So when i launch googlemap, it try to switch to wap connection but it fails due the fake address; I save my $$$, but I lose the umts/hsdpa and need a reconnection.
Maybe at the same on your dell, the app don't find the apn e lose the connection
Sorry for my bad English, but I think I've given you some good clues
Same exact setup (pad data sim) and same problem. Using 2.1 and beta unit.

Hi,
make sure you had checked "supl" of APN type in your new APN profile.
The SUPL (AGPS) protocol was trying to work.
YESS! your advice was very helpful and I have solved my problem. Now googlemaps no longer shutdown the 3G connection
Thank you very much
That also worked for me, Brilliant! Thanks so much.
Think this was my main issue with the Rebel Sim too, going to try my TMobile SIM later.

I've placed my iPhone 4 SIM in the device and I can use the phone (calling) all I want but the data does not function correctly. I've used the default APN information and also made my own:
ATT Wireless
APN: wap.cingular
user: [email protected]
pass: CINGULAR1
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
I've also tried my iPad SIM. The data will work a for a few moments and then stop responding. I keep the AT&T network identifier and the (H) network indicator the entire time. When the data is not working, the arrows fluctuate back and forth but I alway receive a timeout message or a data failure error. Any one have any suggestions? I had AT&T reprovision my iPhone 4 SIM with the standard unlimited smartphone data plan but it did not help.
Thanks.
I was able to get my iPad sim working by adding a new APN with the name "Broadband"
This worked without any issues on my streak.

Ok ive been trying like crazy the past week trying to figure out why i get mms but my internet always takes to that web2go upsell site. Im on T-mobile here in the us and it's driving me up the wall and again sorry im not trying to bring up a question that's been asked a million times but I do have unlimited web on my plan and yet I have no web. I've input a number of different apn variations and still mms no internet. is there a kernel I should be using or is my plan just dumb because my phone shows on the status bar that I have 3g and h+ but web2go is the absolout death of me......and i know my data works because I use to use a jailbroken iphone.
Im currently running MDJ's CyanogenMod 7 (v. 2.2) A2SD I honestly can't remember my radio type and plz any help would be much appreciated.

Let's see if I can help.
Are you sure you are on the T-Mobile Data plan and not the grandfathered old T-Mobile Web plan?
Here are my APN Settings:
Name: tmo
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Everything I didn't mention is left alone.
I flash several times a week. From CM, Gingerbread, AOSP and Sense builds, these settings work 100% of the time for me.
Hope this helps!
Itried the settings you posted and still no go. I'm gonna give T-Mobile a call later on to find out if it is my plan. Thank you though.
Any update on this ? Same Issue started overnight
Having same issue - HD2 with various Android ROMs on old TMob Unlimited data plan working combination that has been fine for more than 6 months - now overnight I am getting Web2Go message re data plan incorrect for phone and their upsell site - and of course no data connectivity (was working at 10:30PM - then at 6:30am not working - between putting phone down and picking it up)
Will try suggested settings but have to wonder are TMob doing some kind of rolling update thats killing what older data plans can do.
Any help/advice appreciated

Data Web2Go update
I too, was having the same issue... and here is what I found from T-Mobile Support:
T-Mobile just recently did a network upgrade & a Data Plan change:
1: pushing 4G to more areas
2: new data plans (no more unlimited plans for NEW customers)
if you were ALREADY on an unlimited data plan... those were supposed to be grandfathered into the new setup... but something got messed up during that transition.
I recommend, if you are still having issues (mine resolved this morning... been down for 2 days) is to contact T-Mobile customer support to report your issue.
Hope that helps you guys
Update:
my APN settings are as follows, by the way:
Name : T-Mobile Data
APN: epc.tmobile.com
MMSC : http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
all other fields are blank.
Bit of clarification too regarding this issue... they said the accounts affected were discounted unlimited data plans.
I've got the business card with my trouble ticket #.... When i get home i will post it, if you need the number for reference with TMO support.

My Net10 AT&T is getting weird behaviors... Can't access the Internet, if it does, it keep redirecting to 1.2.3.50, and sometimes it tells you to sign into network...
How about straight talk? Anyone notice anything?
No issues on ST At&t for me.
None for me either (ST AT&T).
I'm having the same problem with my net10 at&t on my note II. On the net10 forums there a a few post about it but the mods are pming the people directly. You have to have more than five post to use the pm service. I've been on hold with net 10 for an hour and a half and I contacted them on the website.
Yes, I switched to Net10 last week and I started getting the "Sign into network AT&T" notification yesterday afternoon. I have GT-i9300 so its a BYOP issue, not a Nexus issue. As stated above its posted all over the Net10 forums but their customer service is being less than helpful. MMS has not worked at all since I switched from StraightTalk and now data is not working at all.
UPDATE:
After sitting on the phone for 2 hours with Net10 customer service here is what I know: They told me that since my current location (work) is not the same area as the zip code which I registered my phone (home) that the priority is downgraded on the towers. I asked to change my registered location but I was told that it is locked to the SIM and that I would have to cancel my current SIM plan and have them ship me a new one in 3-5 days. Ridiculous. However the following steps have seemed to work (have not lost data connectivity for ~an hour).
1) If you are not sure your APN settings are correct, double check them
NAME: net10
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS PROXY: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS PORT: 80
http://www.net10sim.com/support.php
Once you are confident you APN settings are correct DO NOT TOUCH THEM AGAIN. DO NOT EVEN OPEN APN SETTINGS. If you even open the APN menu it seems to trigger a reset of your network connection, even if you discard any changes. Once the connection resets you have no data ("Sign into network AT&T" message). I assume this has something to do with AT&T network authentication and/or queue priority.
2) Power your phone off and leave it off for at least 60 seconds (and take out the battery - why not, it cant hurt.) I believe this prolonged shutdown is long enough for all your connection info to be dropped from the tower.
3) Boot your phone back up and HOPEFULLY your connection will be properly restored.
Again, once your data connection is restored do not even browse into the APN settings as this appears to de-authenticate your data.
I called Net10 today the guy slipped and told me its a 1.5GB cap and he said they apologize because it suppose to refresh on March 1,2013... he refreshed my network and everything .. sad part im using a samsung galaxy note 2 and the only that works on the network is facebook now aint that a B*tc$... I am using a NET10 AT&T microsim from the BYOP kit.
I was getting the same error you are getting, this is how you fix it.

I just had this issue on ST AT&T BYOP iPhone 5 factory unlocked stock 6.1.4.
Using the new tfdata APN that has been provided by ST since 6/15. The legacy att.mvno doesn't work at all any more for me.
Toggling airplane mode resolved the issue.
Like Andromed0 I have received the message twice this week.I am also using the newer APN ST settings. I have tried the "toggle Airplane Mode" and will see what happens.
