BestBuy Epic Purchase/Preorder - Epic 4G General

Does Best Buy have any secret charges or does sprint charge customers in anyway extra when upgrading a phone on an account?
Like an activation fee? Charged to the account or at the purchase?

If you upgrade your phone through any method other than on sprint.com there is an $18 device upgrade activation fee. This fee isn't allowed to be waived. This fee is charged on your first bill that you receive after upgrading the phone.

how can u get free activation on htc evo 4GEEEE!

how can i get free activation for the htc evo 4Geee!
any advice guys
or how much is it going to cost or it depends on the store ...........
or is it mandatory they activate it at the store or can u just doit ur self and do it free of charge
Act fee is $36 for new lines and $18 for upgrades... As of now, no corporate Sprint store will sell a "cold" Evo... When you buy, it will be activated in store at time of purchase. The only time there is no activation fee is if you purchase at full retail price.
i called sprint to ask them about adding another line ,and if they would waved the activation fee??we already have 3 lines and 1 airave ,,just renewed 3 lines in march for the hero but now i want the evo?so i told them i just wanted the evo and that was the reason for adding the line, and i wasnt even gon use it,well the rep said that starting july 5th theres a rule that no activation fee would be waved,so i told him to please put a note on my account and he did,,so just call and tell them u want to add another line just for the evo and ur not planing to use it u just want the phone,,,and how great their service is ,,,it worked for me,,,,by the way i ve been with sprint for 6yrs
or if you have a corp discount that has no activation fees.
Credit Union member discount waives act fees, upgrade fees, and is a 10% discount. For new accounts, start with that. Then, after a couple weeks, switch to your larger employer discount (if one applies). If you already have a corp discount larger than 10% on an existing account, dont switch. Not worth it in the long run. However, if your corp discount is 10%, switch to credit union for added savings.
oh ok i see so lets say i preorder at best buy or schack none of them are charging them correct its sprint thats chargeing me right and i get 25% of my bill and phones that i had activated all fees been waived hopefully mine will ima call sprint right now
even if u have a corp account i get the 25% off my bill too and have managed to get activation fees waved but by calling not automatically...
guys i just call sprint and they said i would get free activation so i got that question of mind
did u asked for it ,to be noted in ur account some reps just say yeyes to wathever and than when u call for the credit theres no note and how u track the rep??????so ask for it to be noted and than call later and check...

I'm gonna be signing on with Sprint for the first time when Evo is released. I'll be doing the entire process with Best Buy because that is where is pre-ordered. I called Sprint and I will be getting %17 discount. Do you think Best Buy will be able to apply that for me + waive the activation fee?

The 17% discount is to your bill, not the phone's cost and will be applied to your sprint account. They cannot waive the activation fee either.
Sprint phone rep told me that if you order from the website that there wouldn't be any activation fees. But that means you'd have to actually wait for them to sell it on the website which I guess won't be til the 4th...

Yeah I know that the discount wouldn't go towards to phone. Read from couple of accounts that people got their activation fee's waived because they have a corporate discount. But I know that Sprint is waiving the fee when we deal with them either online or in person.

How bout that first bill?

Mine came in at $130...

sprint bills a month in advance. Since you're new you're seeing a charge for your first month and next month but this should be pretty clear on your bill.

Mine was $155.38. Add that to my $200 ETF from T-Mobile.
mines is 222
143.22
The prorated charges aren't that bad at all... Generally I buy things I can afford.
don't forget the activation fee of $35 or $36 on the 1st bill
I'm so scared to move from my ancient $50/month plan/bill onto these $100 and more plans but i also have new tech fever.
My Treo Pro is like the last bastion of phones allowed on legacy plans and i'm between a rock and a hard place moving forward. I wonder if Win phone 7 on sprint would allow legacy plans...,
276.88 with $5 e-bill credit
Call them up tell them you ported your number or whatever and they will void the activation fee

Really? I did not know this. Is it too late since I bought my phone (and ported my number) 3 days ago? You just call 'em up and ask to have it waived, or what?
88.69 for me and I'm a new customer.
I think they waived my activation fee because they added corporate discount.
I think if you have any sort of discount they will wave the activation fee. I'm a State of MA employee and sprint gives us 15% discount. (nothing amazing but it helps).
Mines $1510.41, but its soooo wrong!

New customer here at 151.00 1st bill for two lines, 103.00 with taxes after. Not to bad coming from at&t of close to 160.00 monthly.
195.55 after tax, but no including my 23% disscount.. thats 3 phones (2 evos, and 1 hero)
EDIT:
and the guy at my sprint store matched the down payment i put at best buy, so i had 100 right off the top. and guess what i still kept my best buy cards. i <3 sprint ..
$167.38 for me and my wife.
1500 Everything Data + $7 insurance each.
It actually comes out to $10 more than last month as promised.
Did anyone else notice a mysterious $1 fee for "June 4 - June 6 Premium Data"? Could that be pro-rated from the $10 charge? Maybe that time period was before the June billing cycle?

Note 4 Surcharges and Upgrade Activation Fee on Sprint Bill

I received my latest sprint bill today and here are the extra charges just because i upgraded to Note 4 on my Sero Account.
Device Upgrade Activation Fee $36
Sprint Surcharges $27.50
Are they allow to do that? i never pay activate fee or surcharge fee on my Sero account before. Did you guys get the latest bill yet?
I am expecting the $36 activation fee. I dont think there is a way around that but the $27.50 surcharge sounds ridiculous.

Here in Ca we pay tax on the full $799. But because my discount is from a credit union the $36 activation fee gets waived. Total cost was $164.
I had to pay about 40 bucks for my activation fee. So yea that seems about right
If you used Sprint easy pay then those numbers are correct.
Agree. If you EasyPaid your device that looks right. Although i work for Sprint. I'm not sure if you can easypay on a sero account. Also the note 4 is $31.25 a month.
Activation Fees are required by Sprint for any new or Upgrade Phone and normally is $36. i dont know about the surcharges but they always there!!
Havent gotten my first bill since getting the note 4. but on my "contract details" it shows,
Payments: 30.00/mo for 24 months
Payments remaining: 24
Remaining balance: 720.00
You can upgrade at any time once your device is paid off.
I'll see if it changes when i get my bill.

I just signed up For 2 More years on Sero account and paid $299 for the phone.
like i said on the first post the charged me tax plus Device Upgrade Activation Fee $36 and Sprint Surcharges $27.50
:crying::crying:
You can get that activation fee waived if you call and tell them that you were told you didn't have to pay it.

Yeah just call the corporate 1800 number and tell them you spoke to a rep that said they would waive it. They won't argue with you. In fact I've even done it on the live chat. You don't even have to call if you don't want too.
I thought u can upgrade again once half the phone was paid as long as you turned in your note 4 to sprint

Also the One Up program, as One Up customers didn't lose it when Sprint stopped offering it
I'm also on Sero 500. I've always payed the surcharges every month but it's only a few dollars. Here's mine from my most recent bill:
Sprint Surcharges $3.97

I didn't get charged the $36.00 upgrade fee, I never have with SERO.
I purchased the phone at a corporate store and had to call Sprint's business accounts number to have the plan set back to SERO while still at the store since the store didn't have access to the SERO plan code. Perhaps when the business accounts rep reset the plan they cancelled the upgrade fee at the same time.

SAVED $50 from buying from Sprint and using it on Verizon

If you buy the phone on a payment plan with Sprint they only charge you $600 for the phone.. not $650. I got the phone on Tuesday by singing up with Sprint and just paying the sales tax on the phone. Today I paid what I owe on the phone which was $600.00 through the Sprint online customer chat. An hour later I called and canceled my services and the phone showed paid in full. If you do this within a 3 day period you do NOT get charged an activation fee of $35.
So maybe I screwed Sprint out of $50 bucks.. or maybe I didn't. I'll have to see if I ever get some sort of bill.

Verizon price hike

I just noticed on Verizon's website that they raised the price of the S8 from $720 to $756. Monthly payments went from $30 to $31.50. I also noticed when I first ordered my phone, their website noted that they waived the $35 restocking fee if you ordered online. Apparently that changed also. Seems like restocking fee is back on for online orders. WTF.
Sent from my SM-G950U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Wow, yeah they did raise the price of the device. But, I still see the waived restocking fee on that page. Better off to buy it for the same old $720 via Samsung.com now.
Verizon only charged me $720 for the device. They also charged me a $30 upgrade fee.
