Maybe its quite a silly question, but how do you actually install CoPilot? I copied the folders 2577 and copiloy on my sdcard, and when i tap on autorun.exe, i am getting like a popup "Complete Action Using", and i can select an application. Should i have someting installed to run this exe?
Thanks for your help
errmm you buy it, and it installs on your phone, then when you open up co pilot it will start downloading all the files, no one on here will tell you how to illegally install it on your phone.
HAH. gl getting a WINDOWS (exe) application to run on your android phone.
I did buy it, and got to download 2 folders, 2577 and copilot, but it did not install automatically. So it said to tap on autorun but did not open. Guys I need help so serious replies please. It is a legal copy, I also have the order number
If you got a legal copy you must do following steps:
- copy the folder copilot to the root of your SD Card (2577 is only for windows mobile phones!)
- go to http://www.copilotlive.com/androidinstall with your android smartphone and download+install the latest copilot.apk
- start the now installed copilot (it will extract a few things)
- register your copy
- have fun with it !
Regards
Mike
Thanks Mike

Will do what you said and see what happens
Thanks
You will have to excuse most peoples reactions.
Cop-Pilot is probably the most Warez'd application on android, and usually its the people with trouble installing that have the illegal copies.
Yeah but I still think that anyone can judge just on a simple question. I am new to all this, I come from a windows background, and I pretty well knew that .exe cannot run on Android. However the instructions I was seeing on the CoPilot site said specifically to tap on the autorun file. It did not say that its windows only. Anyways I downloaded the apk from their site and everything is working brilliantly now. My opinion to all this is, if you have no advice or help to offer, then why even bother to waist people's time?

Hi Everybody!
I should receive my 2nd hand HTC Diamond Touch today.
With all the mods, hacks and apps on this here forum, I was wondering what was the first thing you changed on your handset?
For me I will be unlocking the device and hoopefully the ROM.
Any suggestions as to what to mod/hack next?
{?
The ROM because the retail ROM sucks!
My New (to me) Diamond
Changed the ROM to shaks 4.30 topaz, installed touch HD weather app, Background4all, Transparent slider and Glass Clock V2. Oh yeah, and the changescreen rotation application for landscape mode.
Look around and experiment with what you like and works best for you. The forum's a wealth of information if you take the time to search!
tried all the newer roms out there, and so far, the quickest bug free ROM ive used is duttys v4....its quick, with loads of memory left...(see ROM link in my sig to go straight to the ROM)
then, i normally change the clock, the top curtain, and then the slider.
I'm currently on

Very stable, I haven't had a problem yet. I've been heavily using it since yesterday and I haven't been able to find a bug or anything that bothers me yet.
You should try it, you will be amazed of how finger friendly it is!
Don't even get me started on how smooth it goes with scrolling!
Thanks for your replies so far!
I didn't get much time to play with my phone today. However, I have managed to de-brand and do a sim unlock. So for now, my spec reads:
ROM VERSION 1.37.405.1 WWE
RADIO VERSION 1.20 oliNex
PROTOCOL VERSION 52.26A.25.09H
I have tried to install a few apps, but failed. The "set up" files are all .XML and seem to open up in my browser????
{>
I think you didn't notice the .xml files are actually within the setup file.
The setups are .CAB files, you simply move them onto the internal storage and execute them within your mobile phone.
Have fun!
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Not sure what I am doing here?
I transfered the programs to the internal storage (my docs). However, there is no .cab file.
When I click on the program file, it either shows me a blank screen with the program name at the top or other folders e.g. open sensors or open GLES.
The programs I am trying to install are:
air horn
Diamond beer
htorch
WiFi monster
Many Thanks

When you download a program for example Diamond Beer (http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-diamond-beer.html)
You will download a file called DiamondBeer2Installer-v0_1.cab
That is a CAB file. When you see that you copy it to the internal storage and run it from your mobile phone.
But sometimes (usually when it's made by real developers) you get a executable. Those are either to be run from your pc and with ur mobile phone hooked up using activesync. Or if it gives you an error when trying to execute it from your pc then most likely it's telling you that you aren't running windows mobile (means you're not running it from your mobile phone while you're supposed to), then it's the program itself (the actual and final .exe) and you will have to make a directory on your internal storage yourself and copy the .exe in there (No automated installation involved).
Sorry for the long and maybe senseless story but it's late here and I'm in a hurry.
Enjoy
Hello again and thanks for your patience!
I have downloaded said file. I used winzip to extract, then cut and paste the folder in my "internal storage" on my device.
Inside there are three folders:
_setup (which is the .xml file I was talking about earlier)
Diamon~1.000
Diamon~10001
When I click on the setup file, me device just goes to IE:
file:/internal%20storage/DiamonBeer2Installer-v_1/_setup.xml

Tomtom have released a new version of there software specifically for the TP2.
Version is 916.9189. Have installed but not tested yet. All traffic is working on this version unlike the previous release.
can only be installed on TP2 and maps of course still need to be purchased. They are including this with new purchases of the phone now.
If someone can confirm if ok to post the link ?
Thanks
ok link is below, if not ok please remove the link
Here
edit from Sleuth
The app itself isn't warez since it encourages you to load up a free local map then buy commercial maps if you like it. Keygens for the maps are warez and not permitted.
With this in mind, I took the liberty of modifying the cab in your link. First, I removed all the BT drivers simply to make the cab smaller. While your original cab does have the BT drivers, the install script only loads them if they aren't already there so no overwriting occurs.
More importantly, the modified cab includes a version of 916.9189 that lights up the contact navigate button. I've placed a link to this modified cab on this post
TomTom is a great navigator. If you enjoy playing with the free map, go out and purchase legal maps from TomTom. The more WM platform purchases TomTom gets, the more they will be incented to continue to support and improve this excellent product.
could you post a link to download?
thank you

Will this version screw with the BT stack? Also, if you already have maps, will it request you to register maps again?
A further question: any help with the lag issue that many (inc. me!) are struggling with?
I doubt it - but had to ask!

I have already upgrade, and did not have any issues. Everything works great on my TP2, no slowdowns for me.
Does Tom Tom say the street names?
Thanx. Appears to work well. I'll test it tomorrow.
How about the TMC function ????
Total Noobie question here!
I currently run version 7.450, I have downloaded the new version, but what do I do with it, if I run it, it works, but I have to run it from file manager, as opposed to the program icon, how do I install it correctly?

Goto file explorer, copy the tomtom file, then goto my device/windows/start menu/programs folder. then hit the menu to "copy shortcut" in this folder. You will now see an icon in the programs folder for this version of tomtom.
If you already have tomtom installed you may want to uninstall it first or just delete the shortcut(s) from the programs folder so you know which one you're using.
Works for me. Would like to know what the changes are.

Thanks Now working ok
The main improvement is that now the keyboard works fine on the TP2 with TT7
right i tested this on the way to work this morning, for me the lag is still there so no improvment. the traffic does now work which is one thing but still a definate lag compared to my tytnII which was spot on. This is with the new rom from HTC on it as well the one with copilot preinstalled.
sdcard is a class 4 so dont think it is down to that either, shame as i really thought they would sort the lag out.
anyone else?
I get a not enough memory error when trying to install this. What am I doing wrong? Stock TMo US.

No problem with Bluetooth. I already had a previous version of TomTom installed. Just unzipped the .zip file into program files\navigator and it worked.
You don't have to reregister maps.
I was asked to join MyMaps or something like that. In which you can manually edit maps to keep 'm up to date. Also you can subscribe and download eachothers updates.

I was trying to install it now, but I first unnistaled the old version that I had I now I can't install this one.... probably I have to re-install the old version right?
Edit: It worked... I think. But now saiys that I've to activate the maps again.... let's see.
HI, I have just got the HD2 and have been on the HTC website and found a variety of updates for my phone. I follow these instructions:-
"This update for HTC HD2 allows for contacts stored on your SIM card to be properly displayed on your phone along with Phone and Exchange Server contacts.
Installation Instructions:
Note: This update is only for ROM versions less than or equal to 1.59.XXX.X.
Follow the instructions below to download and install the Update on your device:
Make sure you have Microsoft ActiveSync® installed on your Windows XP PC or Windows Mobile Device Center on your Windows Vista® PC. You can find Microsoft ActiveSync from this link or Windows Mobile Device Center from this link.
Connect and synchronize your device with your PC via Microsoft ActiveSync® or Windows Mobile Device Center using the USB cable.
To download the Update, first select the check box below. Next, select the Update and the desired FTP site then click Download.
To install the Update, tap the RUU.exe file on your PC and follow the on-screen instructions.
DOWNLOAD: To download this software, please follow the steps below:
1. Please select the file most suitable for your device:
--Please Select-- Update for HTC HD2 SIM Contacts
2. Please select a location closest to you:
--Please Select-- Europe 1 Europe 2 US Asia 1 Asia 2 "
I save the file to my PC, but when I try to run the file I get an error message saying that the .exe is not a valid Win32 application. Can anyone help? I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
Also, if I'm in the UK should I be selecting Europe 1 or Europe 2?
Finally, if I want to install .cab files to my phone where do I store the files and how do I open them?
Cheers
I can't say why the hotfix isn't working. You just run it from the PC and it works. Try downloading it again, in case it got corrupted during download.
As for cab files, I personally keep all my cab files so I can install them again after the next ROM update. I've got an "installers" folder on my storage card, with subfolders for different installer types (games, utils, htc fixes etc.) and I put them in there. You just run them directly on the phone by clicking them.
A word of advice - unless you REALLY want something installed on your phone, install it to the storage card. These babies run out of device space very quickly once you start installing stuff, and there's things out there that you don't have a choice about.
I only install things to the phone if the phone would function differently without it. eg. Theme modifications and essential utilities etc..
Hope you get the hotfix working. Most hotfixes run on the phone, so you won't normally have this issue. Oh yes, you should be selecting Europe for download location if you're in the UK. As far as I'm aware though, that's just the server location, so you pick the closest one. It won't affect what you download. That's determined by what region the site recognises you as.
Good luck
I've tried downloading it again but get the same error message. Should I be transfering the .exe file to the phone, and open it from the phone, or save it to the PC and open it on the PC? IF I should open it on the phone, where do I find the file once I've transfered it?
All the recent hotfixes, apart from the SIM contacts one, are local files that have to be run on the device.
Copy the file to the device then locate it using a file explorer. Simply press the file name with your finger to run it.

Once I've installed the hotfixes can I delete the .exe files from my phone?
You can, but they are relatively small so would you gain much?
Store them on the Storage Card (you can run then from there as well) so if you ever have to do a factory reset, you'll still have the update files to apply.

Good thinking
At the risk of seeming like a complete idiot, I wonder if I could pick your brains for some help.
I joined your forums when I bought my HTC HD2 a few weeks ago, (I had been a Nokia man for the last 20 years) and have spent the time perusing your excellent forums for information whilst learning the telephone out of the box, and now I have decided to expand my knowledge a little and start installing some simple .cab files.
I have tripped at the first hurdle!
I thought I'd start with something simple like the 'torch'
I created a folder on my computer specifically for downloaded cab files, and created the same on my HD2, downloaded the RAR file, unzipped it to my computer folder, then grabbed it and set it into the folder on the phone.
All good.
Now, when I use 'file explorer' to find the file, I can open it ok and when I click 'setup', the screen goes white with nothing but a small black box in the bottom right corner with what looks like a usb outline and an arrow above it.
If i click that, it looks like it's trying to take me to a website!
Now bejayus and begorrah, I'm not a stupid person, but I am an old dog trying to learn new tricks, so if anyone can help in laymans 'idiot proof' terms what I am doing wrong, it would be greatly appreciated.
Fantastic forum by the way, even though most of the information passes clean over the top of my head!
Well just so any other noob is/was in the same predicament as myself, the answer as expected was very simple.
DO NOT unzip the RAR file containing the .cab file on your computer when you download it and then send the unzipped folder to your phone.
Go to the location to where Firefox (or whoever) downloaded it on your computer, then copy and paste the intact RAR zip file direct to your phone and open it there.
I knew the answer would be simple, but thankfully the kind people in another forum pointed me in the right direction.
I know it's blatantly obvious to many members here, in fact, you probably laughed at such a stupid question in the first place...... but please keep in mind that not all of us are computer geeks.
I'm a hairy arsed construction worker myself, and merely trying to keep up with modern technology.
And I do love trying!
I've searched and searched for ways to install this program, but all I can come up with is to sync the folder to my storage card. I can do this just fine, but I can't run the setup in the phone. The setup file opens into Opera. Could someone please help?
and I do already have the .NET Compact Framework 3.5 successfully installed.
It sounds like you're extracting the cab file instead of installing it, and then opening _setup.xml (which opens with Opera by default). Just download the 3.3 cab install version from here, put it on your device one way or another (without extracting it), and open it (from the device) with File Explorer Mobile or Total Commander for Windows Mobile.
Sweet Zombie Jesus that was easy... Thank you so much Dave. Best wishes to you sir.
Whoops...nevermind.
Your question was actually "how do I install a cab file". This did not require a new thread. It has been asked a million times and is part of mobile hacking 101. I really wish people would do a little reading before posting.
Thanks ****. I spent about 4 hours hunting down how to install that file....no where I went to told me exactly how to do it. And they're not all the same. Sometimes you have to unzip them on the computer and sometimes they go straight on the phone. I'm TRULY sorry I wasn't born with a mobile device in my hand. Please grace me with more of your bountiful intellect. I could totally use it.
Okay. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have called you a ****. But i think it sucks you got offended that i had to ask for help for a problem I wasn't able to answer on my own.
I also think it sucks that i let your response bother me.
I have successfully installed everything for the wp7 on my HD2..I have used the sideload apps with not many problems.. iheartradio is working, etc.. the problem I'm having is I don't fully understand how to hack the registry so that my phone will read as a HD7..so far its reading as LEO70.. i have some apps that are working but my netflix wont work and I cant find a YouTube that works... any suggestions? Thanks in advance...you guys are doing an awesome job with this.. I've gotten this far and I'm a total noob...(before a few weeks ago I didn't even know you could do this stuff)
Did you copy the custclear.prvxml file from Ringtones to Windows using XBModDeployer and TouchXplorer, and activate with MS key?
I think this changes the registry for you without regedit and lets you use HTC Hub apps and download them from Marketplace.
yes. i've installed both touchxplorer and an xbmod deployer and then copied and pasted the custclear.prvxml from the my documents/my ringtones folder to the windows folder but it still reads as leo70 and its activated already
Thats my knowledge all done then, I could e-mail you the zip file I downloaded, think thats done.
then i would probably have to flash wp7 again huh?? i read somewhere that you can only use your activation code 3 times and ive already used it twice so i want to make sure i know what the fix is for sure before activating it again! but thanks for trying!!
View attachment 514565 Not sure how this works but a zip file should be here somewhere, with the files I ran for ID.
There it is. In orange.
No I reflashed my phone 5 times yesterday, no jokes. Activation is good for your phone forever(ish).
You shouldn't need to reflash, just follow the guide from there on, apply all the .xaps, including the "Extras", I'm Pretty sure this is ID change, worked for me at least.
thanks..ill give it a try!!
and just to be sure...cuz im really knew at this.. i open the download and then what?? do i have to extract from a folder first or just deploy straight from the dowload??
What I did was to create a new Folder and unzip with WinZip to that folde, then more subfolders for each element, just to keep track of them.
When you are synced with Zune, run Chevron unlock and keep it open in the back ground. You wont need to re-install the cert.
Run Tom .xap Installer
Then install all the .xaps and copy / paste the file, run connection setup to install the pasted file.
Then check your ID, if its not HTC HD7 T9292, as mine is, then run the Extras bit, for phone reg tweaks.
Well I don't know what was different about your zip.pack but it worked!! I started with the Chevron, then did the TouchXplorer and XBMod Deployer, copied and pasted the custclear from my documents/my ringtones to windows on my phone and then did Connection Settings and sure enough my phone had changed to HTC HD2 T9292...netflix is working, apps are downloading from the marketplace!!! THANK YOU!!!!
hey once you move the custclear to windows then run the connection setup app and your phone will read hd7. the connection setup acts as a installer for custclear. as far as i understand. correct me if i am wrong.
