[Q] Fast Boot USB - Am I bricked? - Droid Eris Android Development

Hi Everyone,
I tried to use the 1 click root .apk and ended up at a screen with an eris picture and I red triangle. I pulled the battery and went to reboot and the phone sat on the skate screen for an hour. I then powered on into the hboot screen and from there tried a factory reset since I could no longer get the phone to boot up.
At this point I am only able to get into the purple recovery screen (Stock recovery I think)
Is there anyway to install the recovery image / gain root from fast boot?
Thanks,
Chris

did you try the step one: Gaining root on this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=647707
it involves flashing PBIMG from Hboot

Need Help to boot up

Hi,
After a long sequence of unfortunate events my GSM HERO is stuck
on the "HERO" screen forever (over 5 hours).
What I've done was:
Installed the 2.73.405.5 ROM from HTC.com (from XP OS)
Installed the first part OTA update successfully.
Downloaded the secong part and started installing
When it was done (Actually the whole bar was full) there was a hazard triangle screen, and since then the phone will not boot - stuck.
I can get in H Boot but i am clueless on what to do there if anything.
Thanks in advance!

Boot into fastboot (back + power)
Run the 2.73.405.5 RUU again
Download & install the first part
Download & install the second part
& you should be back
Shouldnt the phone be synched with Windows to run the RUU?
It doesnt work, can you elaborate a bit more ?
Home+Power brings me to a hazard triangle screen.
pressing Home+Power again from that screen brings me to system recovery:
Reboot system
apply update.zip from sdcard
factory reset.
At that state, connecting the phone to a computer and running RUU doesnt work
Hold your horses
Realized what boot into fast boot means, managed to run the RUU.
As i am currently during the process, cross your fingers for me.
There's one question however, why did this happen, and why shouldn't it happen again, right now ?
UPDATE: burned the 2.73.405.5 ver with no issues at all, downloaded FOTA updates and tried to install them.
The second update fails in the same way - right at the end, the hazard triangle appears and the phone hangs.
What's the cause of this?
I gave up and burned VillainROm 12

Stuck at "HTC Incredible" Boot SCreen

Any assistance is appreciated.
I rooted a few days ago and did the forever S-off. I have ROM Manager loaded and was poking around in the system. I downloaded Skyraider and ROM Manager asked me to reboot. Not thinking it wouldn't let me know what it was doing when in recovery before doing something the rom had been applied. Now the Phone has for 40+ minutes been at the "HTC Incredible" boot screen.
I have read not to pull the battery but The power Button and Volume button do nothing so I could really use some suggestions. As a little more info I have not flashed the radio yet so it was a 1.x radio that a 2.2 rom was just seemingly applied to.
Bricked or recoverable? I have a Nandroid backup if someone can help me get back to that point...
pull the battery out this happened to me before... pull it out and go into recovery mode ... first download on your pc 1.0 baseband .. then while in recovery load that into your sd...then install it to your phone... that will take your phone back to when you first got it out of the box... after that load up baseband 2.0 then root then raider
You could also try booting into cwm recovery and do a wipe data/cache
Did you get past the boot screen?
I am also stuck on the boot screen.
With some advising to pull the battery I did so. It did allow me to boot to recovery and I restored the backup I had taken. I am back up and running as if nothing had happened. I will revisit flashing the radio to the right version and trying the rom again soon.

[Q] VISIONARY & Clockworkmod Couple Questions

I'm pretty sure I have these items in the correct order to "Permaroot" my MT4G and begin using Clockworkmod to load ROMs (and or/also want to be able to back up my default ROM)
My current attempts:
Downloaded and installed: VISIONary, from android.modaco.com, sorry I can't post actual links (VISIONary+, most recent version) was no longer avalible in the market so I had to install it from the URL)
Downloaded and installed "Clockwordmod" from the Market.
Put the phone into USB-Debugging mod, and disabled fast boot.
VISIONary+ question: I setup TEMPROOT, and "Root on Boot", assuming I would than be able to boot into "Recovery mode" via "Clockworkmod"
The phone reboots, and I'm assuming that would boot into "Root" **Root on boot** (Yes I know the temp. should fail after a reboot, but I thought, I'll stay away from "Permaroot" for now). However, I don't get to any sort of recovery mode, instead I get a screen with a triangle and exclamation in red, and that's it, it just hangs there, I'm thinking that this is just USB-Debugging, and I'm not achieving recovery mode, so this must be the result of not booting into a root mode.
Going back to VISIONary+, I attempt to "Permaroot", the phone's homescreen goes blank and nothing happens. The phone eventually turns itself off but doesn't reboot, subsequently, I must restart it manually, again, I'm not sure if I've achieved anything?
Advice, suggestions? Would be very appreciated.
Questions that might explain what's wrong?
Even in USB-Debugging mode, should I be connected to a PC via USB-Cable during all of this?
Any thoughts on why the PERMAROOT fails, or the "Root on boot" fails to get me to "Recovery mode"?
Last thing, I get a complaint from "Clockworkmod" when loading, that my SD Card must be mounted (which I'm assuming it isn't due to USB-Debugging mode and/or being connected to the PC) So should I get a good charge and disconnect from the PC while attempting all this? Fixed, disconnected USB-Cable, and mounted SD card in settings, this stopped this error
Also, I'm interested in backing up my default ROM ASAP as a safety-net in-case I screw something up. Is this possible via recovery mode in "Clockworkmod"? Links to advice on doing this?
Thanks everyone! Great board!
you should follow this as it worked for me flawlessly

thanks! that post seems to answer a lot of the specifics I might have been missing! Guess I missed it in search! I'll report my results!
I followed it exactly but I still get the Red Exclamation Point. I have rooted my phone s-off and I have superuser and rom manager. I did the Flash Clockwork Recovery but when I reboot into recovery I get Red Exclamation Point then when I click vol up and power the next says " E:Can't open /cashe/recovery/command " What should I do??

You can NOT flash clockwork without S-OFF and the red triangle is recovery. It is stock recovery if you press volup+power you will see the menu
S is off I rooted my phone using the terminal Emulator and that worked fine
When I press upvol and power I see
Reboot system now
Apply sdcard:update.zip
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cashe partition
E:Can't open /cashe/recovery/command
This is what my screen shows when I try to go into recovery and again my phone is rooted s-off and I use superuser
Try flashing the recovery again... for some reason people have reported it not sticking... just go back and flash it like 2 or 3 times then reboot
I found out the problem it was so easy but I never would of thought of checking but my wife said maybe my Rom Manager is a bad copy (because I get all my apps from a not so honest site) so I deleted my RM and downloaded the freebie on the market and it worked on the first try.....Now I have Glacier Rom running and I feel like a new man

+1 on that, When I first flashed it, I was still getting the red triangle, after a quick google search I re flashed it an extra 2 times and it worked flawlessly

red triangle with exclamation point on recovery screen

figured it all out.. thanks!
Means you don't have a recovery. Need to most likely run the 2.1 ruu and reroot with eris one click. Something went wrong and it didn't flash Ra recovery
i hope your ok buddy, try it again but check if the root me.zip file is in your sd card first before you go into recovery,if its their it should of flashed the recovery.
Sent from my Vanilla Tazz using Tapatalk
thank you. i googled and found instructions for flashing amon ra recovery. but it fails in the first couple steps. when it tells me to run "su" from the shell command it tells me permission denied. the phone is not rooted yet, so i can not allow superuser from the phone as most of my googling has suggested.
what now?
the rootme.zip is on the sd card.
did u reboot after you pressed the button? and then did u turn it off and go to recovery?

That is the splash screen of the stock recovery.
It means that flashing of Amon_RA never happened.
[ For goofs, you can prove it is a stock recovery by pressing Vol-up+End again when that image is on the screen. (If you were rooting a Cupcake Eris, the key sequence would be Home+End) ]
As others have pointed out, the primary reason that OneClick fails is that the person using it fails to perform a normal reboot in between use of the app and cold-booting into the recovery. Just reboot your phone once normally, shut it down, and then cold-boot to recovery.
- install app
- run app
- shut down phone normally
- reboot phone normally
- shut down normally
- cold boot into recovery
One more thing; you know that this is not a development topic, yes?
