Hey guys, my wifi at home does'nt have proxy but my wifi at school does. My problem is, how can i easily activate/deactivate the proxy settings in the wifi settings. I dont want to type the proxy settings every time i go to school and take it out every time i go home. Is there a possible solution to this?

I'm sorry if this has already been brought up.
Does anyone know how to tell wifi not to go through tmo's proxy? Every time I use the wifi connection I have to remove the proxy settings under the tmo proxy settings and then put it back when I'm done.
if it can't be done can someone tell me how to go about making a batch (or cab in this case) file that will set then unset this proxy?
Does anyone have any solutions to this or it's working the way it's supposed on your MDA's?
instead of messing with the proxy settings. just choose a different connection that does not connect to the internet when you want to use wifi.

I had the same problem. This is what I did to resolve.
got to start menu, settings, connections, then connentions again. then go to advanced, then select networks In the first box put my isp.(or create it). In the second box should be your t-zones settings.(dont edit)then hit ok twice and then exit to today screen. Give this a try, it worked for me.
The reason this is happening is because the proxy servers used by all major carriers are only available from inside thier network. Im not sure if it is because of DNS records are not provided from outside their network. Once you connect to the WiFi network, the proxy server is unreachable.
For other purposes than this, I have 2 networks setup. One with all the proxy settings for the cingulara network and one that doesn't have the proxy settings. Its easy enough to change when you just have to select a different network to connect to the "internet" with.
Can't have proxy server set up and use wifi too....
My first wizard had defective wifi card. I spent numerous hours with the tmobile support and HTC support to try and get it to work. The first thing they had me check was to disable proxy settings. Both tech supports straight out told me you can't have both. I once saw some thread where someone adjusted a lnk file or registry value so that when wifi was turned on, the proxy settings were disabled;when turned off they were re-enabled.
Hope that helps, Jess
I have a HTC Wizard running WM5. I am running a connection with proxy settings and one without. I can turn on wifi connect to IE and then turn off wifi. Re-open IE and gprs will connect and then load page. I did'nt need to use any special registry settings.
hey u guys,,
this might sound silly, but i'm new to WinMob platform. I've been looking for the proxy setting for days now i can't find them anywhere, i always use the GPRS/HSDPA even when i'm in the university, i connect to the wireless network there but i never knew how to put the proxy and stuff.. so, where can i find it ? :S
I am sorry if this turns out to be a stupid/obvious question, but right now I just cannot figure this out! So apologies in advance...
I have a regular data plan associated with my phone, so when I am out and about, I can access the web without problems. At home, the phone will connect either to my own WiFi hotspot (secured) or to my neighbour's (unsecured), and all continues to be well.
Now, while I am at work, I would like the phone to also connect to my office's hotspot, which it does without problems. However, since this connection requires the use of a proxy to connect to the web, I do not get anywhere.
How do I associate the use of a proxy to a specific WiFi profile/connection, and not to the others which are also configured on the phone?
Also, is there a way to tell the phone to give priority to the WiFi connection when available over the 3g connection, or is this done automatically?
TIA!
It's not stupid, there's no separate proxy setting for each Wi-Fi network, just the general "Internet/Work" thingie, but even that wouldn't help because many programs would ignore it (just like it will happen on "big" Windows, by the way - not all programs use IE settings).
So the only workaround I know is to set up your proxy in Opera and turn it on and off manually each time you change networks.
WiFi profiles
Solution is application called WiFi profiles. You can define settings for every wireless network that you use
Thank you very much to both!
I will look into the WiFi Profiles app...
Hi there,
Although the proxy setting for WiFi is still there in the Advance sub menu, but I can't seemed to get it work anymore.
I used the exact same setting, internet connection is still working but it is bypassing the proxy server.
Any work around or fix?
Thank you.
yeah i also have this problem. it seems that once you set the proxy settings and exit wifi settings it goes back to the default settings :|
