I can find plenty of discussions on fixing t-mobile mms problem but nothing on att. All the oncoming is right from all the server and stuff I found online or where ever. Tiny mms will go SOME TIMES but anything larger than the head of a pin and it just sends forever
Whats worked for me:
Use a PPP enable rom and make sure to set 2G only in wireless/mobile networks/ use only 2G networks
Im now using shubcraft 1.5 and its working great

I recently installed froyostone v2 on my T9193. This now has ppp instead of rmnet. Well........speedtest.net said consistantly over 3000kbps down and 800kbps up. On rmnet I got maybe 800kbps down at best and 10kbps up. On another thread I mentioned that I could send MMS's as long as they were under 10k. I just sent about 10 MMS's all over 300k (even though HTC messaging said a maximum of 300k). So it did have to do with the connection.
So when you read about those on t-mobile working and not working....I bet the working ones are using a build with ppp and those not working are usiung rmnet.
Has nothing to do with incorrect or alternate APN settings. Had to do with the speed of the connection. All downhill for now.

BTW your HD2 T9193 is capable of connecting 3g. try sending on edge, which is what this topic is about

Edge or 3G should not matter. The issue was PPP. Have you gotten a connection working with PPP yet and tried to send a MMS?
Maybe next time I won't try to help since some people get so aggravated. This forum is filled with rude members.
Edit: Just turned WCDMA off and on edge only. Showing 200kbps down and 190kbps up. And again sent 2 pics over 300k successfully by MMS.
I booted froyostone v2 the other day and it wouldnt pick up my data connetion at all. I booted it for that PPP reason alone, thinking it may allow sending of mms. All the APN settings where in but it just wouldnt allow my data (edge only) to connect.
I wasnt trying to be rude, i was just making you aware that the topic was for us who only get edge are looking for the solution. Other factors void from topic, and thats where your T9193 comes in. Its a differenet ball game with that phone.
Im going to go re-download and boot v2 again and list exactly what happens
Try this when you boot. Go to the wireless settings and turn off cellular data. Then turn it back on. If it connects without freezing then you should be good to go. If it freezes then you will have to soft reset and boot again.
This may sound stupid but might be worth a try to keep it from freezing when turning connection back on. Disable cellular data then click to enable it again. Immediately scroll the screen up and down. Last 4 times I have done this my phone did not freeze. Might just be a coincidence. But after it connects again I have a working PPP connection.
Ya know, i just read that in the thread a few minutes ago, posted by you, and i just muffed it up. I was doing that and it froze Battery pull
It was able to detect att network once i disabled the data connection though, so thats good. Farther than last time.
HEY its working !!!! WTF though, im seeing the "E" for edge, BUT i dont see the working arrows when data is pushing either way.
Sent pic to the wife and she got it, sent pic to myself and worked. Why is it compressing to 13 and 14kb though
Glad you got it working. I thought the same thing about the compressing. I use handcent for sms. I just picked a pic that was 912kb to send to myself. That is how I test most of the time. When I receive the MMS it says 32kb. But I think that is before the actual pic downloads. When I actually check the message details it says message size 438KB.
With this build I cannot set max MMS size to 600k. Max is only 300K. Check to make sure that you have yours set to 300K. You do this through the standard messaging app itself.
I just switched back to the standard messaging app and it says the pic is 427KB. Go back to the "all messages" screen and hit the windows start button (menu button now) and scroll down till you see maximum message size. Make sure it is on 300K. Going to look into changing this to 600K. I think I saw a way.

I just made a switch to shubCRAFT_v1.5 because the froyostone v2 didnt support led notifacation AND i hate sense. I did install launcher pro, but still, i need the led notifcations.
The shub works for me with PPP out of the box, after a reboot, and has the led support i need, and no sense included. I just started messing with it, so, well see....
So it seems the resolution for us edge users is we need PPP enabled roms !!!
Us 3G users need PPP also. Trust me. Even the 3G connection is horrible with rmnet. Yes I don't like sense either. Just too much garbage going on in the background. And I definitely hate this google ads bar that keeps appearing everywhere.
Froyostone v2 was the first PPP build I have tried. Let me know how everything works for you with this shubcraft build please. Would like to know the results from someone not using TMOUS if you know what I mean.
It seems to take forever for the connetion to come up, IF it comes up.
BUT i found that if i set to 2G ONLY in settings, the connection comes up every time and fast. Not sure what a 3G capable set would do. But thi may help some other edge users to get a PPP enabled rom working nicely. MMS works great this way

I updated my jf 1.41 rc30 to jv 1.4.1 RC33. It updated fine and then i noticed my home button would not work, also my green call button does not bring up "dialer" like it use to but when i access dialer and click the green button over a contact it dials. Any ideas how to fix this?

Did you do a wipe?

I've ran into that issue a couple times, before I ever started using the modded images, and the only way around it I found was a wipe. To be honest I think the cause of my similar problem was related to the Locale app.
I got this problem too.. I did a reset to factory default and everythiing gone ok.
After upgrading to RC33 i had issues with AnyCut, it would not create a shortcut. didn't matter if i left it in the menu, ont he homescreen or in a folder. I ended up uninstalling it and reinstalling. then it worked fine.
I am thinking a wipe might be in order...just in case other hidden issues arise.

Last weekend, (which was the first time I tried to access data on edge or gprs, since updating to JF's ADP 1.41), I noticed I didn't have the E or G data thing next to the signal thing anymore. (We don't have 3G).
Then I tried accessing the weather, and all of my weather programs, as well as maps, market, and the browser said I didn't have a connection.
I didn't have much time to check things out, since we were busy. Today, we went to T-Mo coverage land again, and my data connection didn't work again.
I've checked all my APN's, and they look fine. I also tried changing them to wap, internet2 and internet 3, but no success.
Has anyone else had this problem? (I can send sms and mms, then I see the little data thingy doing it's thing, but that's the only time I see it since rooting). Also, If I call customer care, they will probably try to reset my phone. What will that do to my ADP? Should I tell them I have a Dev phone?
Or has anyone here got any tips for getting data back? (I did a wipe and reapplied the ADP ROM, but that didn't fix anything).

I'm experiencing the same problem now. Did you manage to get it fixed?
I have the same problem switching from wifi back to edge data... the only short term fix i have found to get the mobile net back is send a picture message to yourself. It causes the phone to create the connect and then you should be able to resume using the Edge data...
i was actually coming on here to find a fix for this myself.

Did you recently install any new apps?
I updated my WeatherBug, Steel, Personal Safety, SMS Popup and Discover and installed TetherBlu, TetherWiFi.
I have already uninstalled all of these and tried a reboot. But it didn't work.
I'm starting to panic. I'll try your suggestion.
this was the case right after i installed rc33 there was a thread about the radio that i had been posting on. Thinking my radio update made it so i could not get on market etc... but this was the work around i found for this problem. From the sounds of the other user who said he doesn't have TMo reception near his house. this radio was probably not meant for the non-3g users or there is something wrong with the default connect on the radio...

I've contacted Tmobile and it seems there is a severe network outage for 3G services that is also effecting some Edge networks as well. I've posted info on the site but people continue to post that they are having issues with data on their G1. They told me that it seems to be only on the west coast (west of the Mississippi) and the Tier 3 was being flooded by calls until 6am EST (for the customer service department to open). The network went down around 10pm PST and it is still pending. It's a good thing I decided to call first before reflashing!
Right but in rc33 it doesn't smoothly resume mobile edge from wifi. thats where i told the user if you send a test pic to yourself it will make the connection. Who knows about your network outtages...

Hmmm... I've never had issues resuming an edge network after a wifi connection. I use wifi at home because INSIDE I don't get 3G. Outside (for some reason) I get full strength 3G connection at around 400kb/s. So when I wonder outside to check the mail while I'm downloading a new theme update it doesn't miss a beat for me. I lose contact with my weak a** wifi and jump right on 3G. No download error or anything. As for Edge... not sure. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

make a shortcut on the main screen, choose the shortcut to be "setup wizard"
this forces the phone to go thru the initial setup again..
most reported that after going thru this process again, home button works after that...

Went to a sprint store (appointment) and they told me that when I am connected via wifi at home, it will not be able to receive text notification and will not be able to see my picture (I have the download button showing but will not open the picture when I click on it). So this means, that when I have wifi connection at home, that disables the 3G connection that I have thus not seeing the Sprint's server where the text are delivered. Aren't the text messages via the 3G or 4G connectivity on the phone. So my wifi connection will not allow the 3G connection on the phone. I tested sending a picture message from my Epic to my Tilt2 (AT&T) windows phone with the same wifi connection and I get the notification and I have to click on the icon to display the picture with no problem. But the epic as I have explained earlier, will give me no notification, it gives me a download button when I open up the text message - but will not do anything at all - not opening the picture. when I disable my wifi - no problem
I need to test this, because if it's true thats bull****, I have Wifi at home on all the time. Heck if Sprint is going to start capping the unlimited plans, why force us to use 3G at all times when there's wifi available? testing this...
yea you're correct, it shows the button if you go into the messages, but it wont notify or let you download it, it says failed. Thats garbage.
Thanks Six-Duece and so I am not the only one. Somehow, if you are connected via wifi, the 3G or even 4G (data connection) is somehow disabled.

and I notieced even here in Vegas that 4G connection is so flaky and always reverts back to 3G and I pay $10 for something that is not used.
Maybe one day, when 4G connectivitiy is much more stable, then the $120/yr would be worth it. $120 is not joke nowadays

yea this could be a deal breaker for me, I think I will weigh my options and decide if I want to keep hanging on to this or say screw it. It bothers me because it makes no sense.
Typically the way things works is like this, calls and text go over the voice network (or on 1x), so you can be disconnected from 3G and still send and receive plain sms.
Now MMS are sent and received (downloaded) over the data network, either 1xrtt or 3G EVDO. Whether you're on wifi or not shouldn't matter as long as you're connected to the cell network.
The issue with the Epic seems to be that if you're connected to wifi it seems to disconnect from the data network (either to save battery or for some other reason INSTEAD OF KEEPING A DORMANT CONNECTION TO THE DATA NETWORK) and as such MMS can't be downloaded or fail to.
Now I don't receive a lot of MMS so I've never really been affected by this enough to annoy me but I can say that other Sprint phones I've had with wifi do receive MMS even on wifi because I assume they keep a dormant connection to the 3G network.
Either way, for heavy MMS folks who conncet to wifi a lot this must be annoying.
Just one more bug we need to alert Samsung and Sprint to for a furure fix. It might be a bug or the phone was just designed that way for some reason.

The reason I brought this up, is because I connect wifi most of the time (at work and at home), and family sends a lot of picture messages. So this is a big issue for me especially since you don't receive any notification.
Maybe if they fix this issue then I might go back, since I am still in the 30-day return guarantee. I will be monitoring this thread.

It was a problem with the hero. Its not exclusive to theepic. Apparently it has something to do with adroid

No problems here. Just tested on my epic, wifes Evo, and my old Hero. Everythings working fine over wifi regarding mms. I wilk say tho that the Hero and Evo received the mms withing a minute, while my Epic didnt for about 8 minutes.

ever since CM7 7.0.2 i have not been able to connect to HSPA either, I have tryed new roms but no luck. I just ordered a new one under warranty.

its going to be your radio then, mine had the same issue, until i updated the radio, my speeds were so slow, then hspa+ finally kicked in and now i get about 2Mbps to 6Mbps
I have simplemobile as well, purchased it for work (to tether in a pinch) and while I am not exactly "happy" with the service + phone, I guess its passable.
I get HSPA as well, using Ultimate Droid + the .16 radio (I've tried every single one, this is the best) I get 2-6mbps download with this combo and simplemobile. My biggest issue is the horrible reception and the data dropouts for no reason. I take public transportation and trains for my job and can never hold a tether for longer then 5-10 mins if I am moving. Also for some reason I am unable to use voice and data at the same time, as well as the annoying issue of hanging up a voice call and having what seems like the radio "rebooting" ie: going to zero bars, dropping the data connection and 5 seconds later getting a radio lock again.
I have finally gotten good APN settings to enable me to use hspa as well as MMS (finally after 3 months i have mms). I would be happy to share if needed.

Cause this is what i did. i unrooted. than rooted back, upgrade to version .17, changed apn settings (under tmobile data) to simple (i didnt create new simple apn setting). and im still getting like 30kb/s on edge or like 40kb/s on 3g

Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm on tmobile..stock jellybean and stock texting app.
sometimes the MMS will go right away..sometimes they will sit for days..and then i send (or recieve) one from someone and suddenly the floodgates open all my 'stuck' MMS messages go.
i dont know this is a defect..or maybe something quirky about tmobile's network..but it seems to happen about once a week the messages get backed up like this.
never had a problem with SMS..i dont think.
Not sure why but i've had that too. The other night sending to my friend on T-Mobile it wouldn't go for hours then i resent it some 9hrs later and it worked fine. I don't think it's a N4 problem per say as i've had that with my SGS2 also. Maybe it's a ROM thing or just carrier issue but wish it wouldn't be so!
I got this experience with MMS:
- when on WiFi than impossible to send;
- only when on Data transfer MMS is send.
Try to manually set the data and not wifi and try.

MMS only send on mobile data connection, thus has been standard behaviour on every Android phone I've owned
makes sense. i'm on/near wifi for most of the day every day so i guess its not going to send until i'm in my car driving somewhere and regular data kicks on
Shouldn't matter as the phone wont use WIFI to send MMS if the APN has "mms" designation it it. You can watch the signal bars and see he up/down arrow in the cellular signal bars vs wifi when trying to send. At least, that's what it does on my phone yet it still just doesn't send once in a while.

did an experiment today; sent 3 MMS (while i'm hooked to WIFI) and 2 of them went..made a phone call before the 3rd one sent..and it got stuck in 'sending' mode.
2 hours later still stuck in 'sending'. i sent a text to that number ...didn't help.
I then sent another MMS..and when i did, it triggered both the new one and the 'stuck' one to go through.
so there you have it..not conclusive but it seems like maybe when its switching between voice and data it can get stuck..and the stock MMS messenging app doesn't seem to be smart enough to resend automatically. it seems like you have to 'jiggle the handle' to get it to go by sending another MMS.
it also seems sending ANY mms (not even to the stuck #) will release all the hung MMS for everyone.
I ordered my OP8P directly from OnePlus, but my MMS doesn't seem to be working. Anyone else had the issue?
I actually got a message that the settings were not correct, and that the correct ones were being sent to my phone (had never seen that before). I looked at the APN info, and it seems to be correct... based on memory.
I'm on T-MOBILE also and received the same message. The phone had an update so I installed and rebooted the phone. All call,text, MMS, data worked like it's supposed to. Try rebooting?

I've tried rebooting. Things are a lot better, but I still have some issues with calling out (can't remember the message... will try and get a screenshot next time). If I immediately try again, the call will go out.
I'm also not seeing any wifi calling. The feature is enabled, but it doesn't seem to be working... even on the "wifi calling preferred" setting.
Just wanted to post an update.... still having issues. MMS pretty much never works with wifi on. For this reason, my wifi is off pretty much all day. It never fails that as soon as I turn it on, a picture or group message comes in.
Also, this does not affect SMS or RCS messages, which appear to come in over data somehow.... just MMS.
Need a fix bad.
I'm having the same issues with T-Mobile. I'm leaving wifi off in the meantime. Hope there is a fix soon.
That was supposedly fixed with the last update. What software version are you on?

I know there is an option for mobile and wifi (dual-channel network optimization) that I haven't been using. Anyway I hope this clears up for y'all.
I'm on 10.5.6. I just went to t mobile and got a new sim card.. It didn't resolve the issue.
Use Textra app, go into settings for Textra and it has option for TMobile WiFi, works great

You really, REALLY had my hopes up. It actually makes sense, but it doesn't work. I tried with both on and off... no luck. MMS messages (both inbound and outbound) are stuck until I turn off wifi.

I used to use the Textra app, but really prefer Google Messages for it's web app. I am on the PC all day, so it's aggravating to have to pick up the phone all the time. I've tried MS Your Phone, but it's not as easy to use, or as reliable.
I created a thread with a similar (but opposite) issue to what you're experiencing. A friend of mine with an international 8 Pro on TMO is having the exact issue you are.

Didn't get any help from that but you can try the APN trick for a temporary fix until it's patched for real. I also created a thread on Reddit for this and I think I found the solution. I use Textra, but that alone didn't help. Someone on Reddit told me to disable the stock messaging app, as well as revoke it's permissions to everything. Since doing that I'm no longer having issues. Didn't get any help from that but you can try the APN trick for a temporary fix until it's patched for real. I also created a thread on Reddit for this and I think I found the solution. I use Textra, but that alone didn't help. Someone on Reddit told me to disable the stock messaging app, as well as revoke it's permissions to everything. Since doing that I'm no longer having issues. It's only been about a day so we'll see how it goes from here.

Duplicating the APN worked (of course, I did the whole thing then swiped back, thinking it would save, grr). I'm guessing it won't last long. It's just as easy to disable wifi for it to send... so weird that you're having the opposite problem.
**EDIT**
Nevermind... it didn't work. I was able to send out with wifi on (which I couldn't do before), but my wife's test message wouldn't download until I disabled wifi.
I had frozen the stock messaging app on day one, with tibu. I thawed it, revoked the permissions, and disabled it via settings this time. No luck "Not sent. Tap to try again".
Anyone find a fix for it yet? I thought 10.5.8 would help but I still can't receive or send MMS on WiFi.

Granted, I haven't done any extended testing yet, but I can send/receive MMS now with wifi connected. I upgraded about 4 hours ago, and this is probably the longest I've ever had wifi on.
Now that you've posted this, I'm skeptical it will last, though.

Yep. MMS is still broken when on wifi. Geez....

The latest update seems to have fixed it for me. I was also having issues receiving calls. Callers would get a busy signal. The update fixed that as well. Maybe try taking your SIM out, reboot, then put it back in and reboot.
That didn't work. I'm finally getting notifications from my sports app after the 10.5.8 update. Just have to fix the wifi now.
Wifi still dies on me, but not with the ! on the icon. Just no traffic. I had to toggle it. But nowhere near as much as it used to. The MMS issue is the only reason I don't leave wifi on. I was really hoping it was fixed.
Same issue here even with most recent updates. MMS will work 1/10 times over wifi (sending & receiving) but not the other 9 times.
Since the update I've also noticed wifi issues - they may have been there before but didn't notice. Wifi seems to hang, I sometimes see a "!" next to the wifi symbol. In many cases I turn WiFi off and the connectivity issue in whichever app is resolved.
So at this point on TMobile there is no reason to keep wifi on, which is unfortunate because with their "5G" I actually get half the speeds of LTE. ?

Pretty much everything you said. I'm really upset and disappointed. I'm actually considering returning the phone and going back to the OP7P. Not even sure what the return policy with them is...
