Hi guys i hope this is a quick one. I have CM6 running fine on my G1, can anyone tell me how i can stop the text which is scrolling at top right hand of the screen, i dont know what it is or if it is even supposed to be there, it mentions system settings amongst other stuff whist it changes all the time.
Thanks
At top it says "system server"
Thanks

Sometimes I wonder why people even bother rooting their phones if they know nothing about them.

hi there.
week old owner of the x1. So far loving the phones but some small stuff is quite annoying.
1. it seems like the phone came with a layer of plastic under the protective layer. the frustrating thing is that the layer below doesn't fully cover the whole screen, leaving some space and i ended up some lints underneath.
Is it okay if i take it off, I'm kinda scared to mess up my $800 phone?
2. my battery seems like it barely lasts a whole day....the body keeps getting warm and I have wifi, bluetooth offf. but if the phone's warm that surely means theres program running, no?
thanks for the help
Hi,
Not sure what you mean by the protective layer but I may be able to help with number 2
By default, hitting the "x" doesnt close the program, it keeps it running the in the background. Hit the task manager icon in the top right (3 horiz lines with an small triangle pointing up) and see what programs are running. You may find you have all sorts like the sms managers / picture viewers etc.
You can change the setting so the "x" closes the app - go to Settings -> Task Manager -> Button Tab -> and select the option "End Programs by tapping X
or alternatively you could press and hold x to close the program (I find it easier to change the option tho!)
Cheers - Hope its some sort of help!

the HD2 has done something strange with programs that use dropdown menus - it has replaced them with a bar.
this is fine for some apps where you can use the slider at the side of the screen in order to scroll, but where there is a small box which just drops down a short list of data for you to choose from, the bar replaces the box, stops the list dropping down and thereby disables you from using the dropdown menu.
is there any way to stop it behaving in this way and reverting to the old form of dropdown menus?
thanks

I think I know what you mean. Can you give an example of where this happens?
"a picture paints a thousand words" but unfortunately I don't have a camara with me so can't take a picture to upload (at the moment).
An example is a program which give a list of dates in a dropdown menu - on my HD, that is fine, tap the box, the list of dates drops down, and I can select one. On the HD2, however, no dates drop down, but a bar appears inside the box, it's the sort of bar that appears at the side of screen when you use your finger to grab the side-bar and slide down a long window quickly.
That's the best description I can give in words. I was talking to someone who couldn't use the HD2 as it prevented him from using one particular app which used dropdowns extensively to enable selection of items from dropdown lists.
Hope that helps - can't find anything on it in the tips and tweaks, and searching generally reveals nothing at all.
Can't believe I am the only person with this problem/issue.

Again, I think I know what you mean.
Did you know you can scroll by moving the items in the dropdown up and down? You don't have to use the scrollbar. Obviously, if the dropdown is too narrow that won't work as you'll open the scollbar when you try to grab an item.
The alternative is to try a different theme. That might sound daft, but there was a thread a while back discussing how to get the popout scrollbar working and it turned out that it doesn't work on most of the themes. (I believe it only works on the HTC Black one).
Maybe that would help?
I think you do know what I mean!
As you rightly say, when I tap the scrollbar that has appeared inside the dropdown box, that opens up the entire list in a different screen, and so for this program at least, that is the workaround. Whether that works for all other programs that use dropdowns is another question of course.
I am using HTC Black - which I prefer as a theme, I try some others when work subsides and see if that helps.
thanks for quick posting.

No worries mate - good luck!
I have been patiently waiting for the update that was made available yesterday afternoon so I downloaded and updated my phone. Since it resets everything I really didn't get around to doing much with it last night. This morning I started to get my phone setup and noticed the sensitivity seems to have worsened, sometimes considerably, over what I had before.
Scrolling has become less responsive, the X (close) button needs to be pressed a few times rather frequently, the buttons on the bottom row of the screen do not seem to respond very well either anymore, and lastly it just doesn't quite feel the same. Of all the problems I have been having with my HD2, screen sensitivity (accuracy could be a bit better) was not one of them until now.
Is there a way to calibrate the screen that I was not able to find on the phone? Anyone else notice any difference after updating?
Thanks in advance for any help!
I'm having the same issue but over all the new ROM is more stable.
Align
Start > Settings > All Settings > System > Scroll down to Align
Cheers
Also look for an App called TouchMark (think I found it on OMarket).
Neat little App that shows you exactly where you are touching the screen.
Maybe you have lost your touch
Also I use BsB to lower sensitivity of the screen which assists me greatly with typing.
Thanks for the tip but the "align" button is not in that folder on my phone. I searched and didn't find it anywhere else either.
After having a full day use with my phone the screen sensitivity is still a bit flaky, I would say it is worse than it was before I upgraded the rom. As for stableness, I have had several random data disconnects and small lags here and there that I didn't notice before. Unfortunately the audio lag has not been fixed. I should quit while I am ahead.
The summary is I want them to get the basic functionality of the phone to work and in doing so, please do not mess up the few things that are working, such as screen sensitivity. I am curious how long before the next rom update.
On a separate note, does anyone know where we can see a list of what they fixed in this rom?
Thanks!
Align?
Start > Settings > All Settings > System >"""screen""',, then align on mine hd2
??? are people on this thread a little confused??
going to the screen settings is NOT going to fix what the rom update did... the scrolling is considerably worse... not the accuracy...
for some reason, when i scroll through things.. its slow, laggy, and choppy.. its probably the most ridiculous "update" ever.. it simply made the phone worse... i wish i could go back to my previous rom.. before the official update.. i had absolutely NO problems with the scfreen sensitivty.. in fact.. i had no issues with it at all.. don't even know why i upgraded... pity...
and there is a fix thread floating around the TMobile HD2 forusm somewhere.. but that fix doesn't even get it remotely close to how it used to be.. now if someone could report exactly what the settings are on the stock TMoUS rom in the registry BEFORE updating to the official update.. it would help out enormously for the hackers who can fix what TMo has done to our phones...
people people dont fret!! just install HD2Tweak and look for the option that allows you to increase sensitivity and there ya go! there are 4 levels of sensitivity and i set mine to high and its perfect.
Iquigley- Unfortunately I do not have a "Screen" button in my system folder...
Just to clarify my original post in case it was confusing, although I believe accuracy could be better I did not notice a change in the accuracy of the screen, just a drop in sensitivity. Scrolling now has a tendency to stick and launch an app instead of actually scrolling. That doesn't seem to be happening as much now so I might have just adjusted to the new "feel" of the phone.
Can anyone confirm that it is just a setting that needs to be changed? At this point I avoid adding new apps to the phone if possible since I am afraid it will break something :s
Thanks!
The screen option in settings is hidden on the T-Mobile HTC HD2. You can make it visible in the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Pen
Set the value of "Hide" to 0 (currently it is 1). Then the screen option will be visible in the system folder under all settings.
i went to do the registry change and cant find pen under control panel, is it under another sub folder?
Thanks Tobiascrystal. I am confused why they would have that hidden in the first place. I have been trying to avoid having to change registry settings but I might just be shooting myself in the foot by doing so. I will check it out.
Nook Color running CM 7.2 just started showing X and Y coordinates for touch events and don't know where the pointer option is located to disable this. I've gone into the Developer section under the apps, and there isn't a section there to remove or disable this either. Where might I find the option to disable this feature of seeing the X and Y coordinates and crosshairs when you touch the screen?
In effect, my 4 year old, who's tablet this is, never said that this effect was enabled, and it only happened in the past week. He doesn't know how or where he enabled it, and honestly, that makes sense because the desktop is locked down. He only has access to certain icons for his games, can't get into the apps or settings without the password, and always has to bring it to his mother or myself. There is even a firewall with the same basic setup. It's locked down.
I've gone through what I believe an exhaustive check through every option and just cannot find the pointer options like I can on my other android devices.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for this. Even though this isn't where it was, I found an icon for Dev Tools, I went into Development Settings, and there was a pointer location/no pointer location drop down. Totally different from what everyone else kept telling me, but it just happened to be under another section and option.
Thanks for the nudges, otherwise I would have reset the thing and started over. It's been running for years, and now I know what he got into... .just don't know how.
Thanks again.
SuD.
When I swipe down from the top on my M3, I want to show the notifications, but sometimes I wind up on a "search apps" screen instead. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing to wind up in search? I certainly can't detect any difference in what works and what doesn't.

If you start swiping all of the way at the top of the screen you will get the notifications, if you start swiping below the top of the screen you will get "search apps".
I wish you could disable the "search apps" feature but I can't find any way to do it.
Weird. As far I know know I've always swiped from the very top, but maybe I'm not making good contact sometimes and it doesn't notice.
