are we going to get alternate recoveries such as CM custom recovery or RA custom recovery?
it would be nice to experiment with different recoveries, and maybe fix some issues i have with clockwork freezing

I had some trouble last time I tried CM7 and reverted to stock. Am gonna try it again but am wondering which recovery to flash?
There were multiple versions of clockwork and there was even an alternate recovery. The problem is some older update.zip files don't work with the clockwork 3 recovery.
Now, considering all factors, which is the best recovery to flash?
I'd recommend the 2.5.1.8 recovery, as it works with new and old (Edify and Amend) .zip files.
Hope it helps

I am running FlexReaper v11 and trying to encrypt my tablet. After choosing encrypt it just sits there and after a few hours I have to reboot it. It looks like this is a result of having Amon Ra recovery installed. I used the Acer Recovery app to install the stock recovery, but then it won't boot into recovery and still won't encrypt. Anyone know how to successfully encrypt the tablet when running a custom rom/recovery? Thanks!
Nobody running a custom ROM has tried to encrypt their tablet?
I'm still running stock rooted MF9 with TWRP. I've only taken TWRP as far as 2.5.0.2 and am wondering if there's any risk to upgrading to 2.8.3.0 or completely swapping out recoveries to Philz latest. Is it possible upgrading or changing recoveries would impact the existing ROM's ability to boot or cause other issues? I've been away long enough that I simply can't remember if an existing ROM would be recovery agnostic. Thanks!
No none at all.
Thanks!
Good day guys, i just want to know if there's custom kernel w/ custom recovery like TWRP, philz or CWM? i'm planning to flash it. i manage to unlocked bootloader without affecting the camera but every time i trying to flash custom recovery it's always say failed, secure, unsigned ect..
i don't want to use the other method which is camera end up not working. so i'm planning to flash custom kernel with recovery? anyone can tell which custom kernel has it? thanks in advance
If i remember correctly, there isn't any custom kernel with recovery. Zenfone 5 uses seperate boot (kernel) partition & recovery partition.
I have searched everywhere and end up with the same problem every time I try to install a custom recovery. I try many different recoveries and only old TWRP recoveries will boot but will not allow me to flash roms. I was using a modified custom recovery for the longest and was the only one I've managed to use, it was 3.0.1 IIRC by kinglilrowrow. Using this recovery I could flash roms. Now I can't find this recovery anywhere. Currently I can only boot into recovery using First Aid from the forum but have not been able to flash any roms.
Finally was able to flash TWRP 3.0.2-2 not sure how it worked. Went back to stock recovery and oxygen rom then followed the same guide but it worked this time. All the info and files from XDA so big thanks to the site and developers.
Sounds like you where stuck on the old bootloader, which would explain why newer recoverys didn't want to boot. Should have been solved by updating to OxygenOS 3. ?
