I am running FlexReaper v11 and trying to encrypt my tablet. After choosing encrypt it just sits there and after a few hours I have to reboot it. It looks like this is a result of having Amon Ra recovery installed. I used the Acer Recovery app to install the stock recovery, but then it won't boot into recovery and still won't encrypt. Anyone know how to successfully encrypt the tablet when running a custom rom/recovery? Thanks!
Nobody running a custom ROM has tried to encrypt their tablet?

Hi all,
So coming from a Samsung craptivate, Im having a little bit of trouble flashing CM 6.1.1 on my new N1
so far starting from stock I have
- Unlocked the bootloader
- used fastboot to flash the latest clockworkmod
now I am trying to boot into recovery to flash the CM zip on my SD and I keep getting to a screen with the android guy and an exclamation point, and have to do a battery pull to reboot, I have tried using adb and 3 button combo to get into clockwork,
so, what idiotic thing am I doing wrong?
You're booting in between installing the recovery and booting into recovery.
There are two files that restore the stock recovery upon a system boot (which is what you are seeing). If you go straight to recovery after flashing, the stock recovery won't be restored, then you can install a custom ROM.
The two files are missing from custom ROMs, so you won't have this problem again.
Typically, people remove these files once they have root access, but since you don't have root yet, that isn't an option...

thanks very much for your help, got it working
Reading the Wiki guides for installing recovery should have solved your question before you wrote it.
My Iconia has CWM installed. I used it a while ago to install the leaked ICS rom. I tried to install the most recent (official) ICS rom. Now my Iconia will not boot past the Iconia logo. I've loaded CWM and formatted everything and reinstalled the official rom. No go.
I figure at this point I have to use nvflash to install a new recovery image and rom. Could somebody tell me how to do that and what files to get?
Thanks
Before doing anything else have you tried wiping cache and data? Has worked for me when a rom wont boot. Have you still got cwm can you access it? If no cwm you can accomplish this by holding power and volume up then toggle the rotation lock.
Yes, I have access to CWM. I have tried wiping everything. I even successfully installed a new rom. The device still will not boot past the Acer logo.
I booted wit hte method you described. Two messages appeared in quick succession, "Clearing data..." and "Clearing cache". After the cache message, the device just sits there doing nothing at all.
Previously I had the data partition encrypted. Could that be causing trouble?
did you install an ICS bootloader?
I'm not sure. That is why I created this thread. I'm looking to get the recovery and OS image necessary to get this device working again.
As the previous poster noted, have you switched to the ICS bootloader? When I flashed my A500 with an ICS rom it too got stuck in a bootloop. I then discovered that I actually had to flash the ICS bootloader berfore installing the new rom.

You can't install official ROM with CWM. You need Acer recovery! This issue has been answered several times. Use search button!!!
Hi all,
Few problems with my TF101. I was running Cyanogen mod rom (not sure witch version, the boot screen was an alien in a vortex). Anyway i was getting some random reboots and the tablet started booting into CWM every time. I have tried several versions of CWM and other recoveries but none will install. In CWM i select the zip install-success, hard reboot and the pad again boots to CWM recovery v5.8.3.4. (also i cant access my external SD with this version of CWM)
While this is a nuisance the latest issue is than no custom will boot. They stick on the boot animation (i have waited up to 4 hours). The only rom that works is Revolver 4.2.1 but wifi does not work.
When i try to install stock roms in CWM it aborts with no error.
When I install the recovery installer APK it reboots to CWM v5.8.3.4 and does nothing
My ideal end state is a functioning CM rom and CWM that boots correctly.
Any ideas folks?
fixed my CWM issue with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29632231&postcount=3
I then installed the recovery apk and wsa able to install CM V6
I have an Acer A500, it has the v9 bootloader installed. I also have TWRP 2.6.3 installed as the secondary ROM, the recovery is also completely broken, fastboot and zip will not install on it (TWRP 2.6 is to big), but recovery using 2.4.4.0 does boot. That fine since with secondary and recovery installed I can use TWRP from either, which works great, but if I install a ROM it only boots once, then poof, its as if there is no kernel it will not boot. To boot a new ROM I have to format everything except the external SD (which I have removed) then install the ROM reboot to TWRP install it again, then reboot at which time it will boot about 1 is 3 times, if it fails try again and repeat.
Now the ACER is basically useless now as I can not boot safely to anything other than TWRP, I've tried 2 4.0.3 ROMs but I can not get the Installers to run, I've tried 2 10.1 ROMS boot both booted only once and also a 4.3 ROM (build 5 and 6) boot again both booted only once. I'm out of ideas I'd flash almost anything at this point to reset, but then there is that Windows 8.1 issue in which I can not get ACER driver to work (Duh!), and I do not think the issue is going to be fixed, I can only come up with 2 options 1 the internal storage is going bad, or the entire setup is just toast, since it can work, it just does not do so more than once.
Currently I have 10.2 (build6) running, so long as I do not need to reboot, so for now it is charging.
Any suggestions,
ERIC

I have same problem with TWRP. Try to replace TWRP with TouchRecovery
I Got a GS4 GPE today, and after updating to 4.4.2 I went right to rooting it. I unlocked the bootloader, fastbooted CWM 6.0.4.4, and adb sideloaded SuperSU 1.93. I booted up and it was all working great! But the CWM recovery didn't stick from the fastboot, so I downloaded the manager to install it that way. After doing that, I now can only boot to CWM recovery (I can get to Android Default recovery and the bootloader, but no matter where I try to reboot from it keeps taking me to CWM. I'm guessing part of my stock ROM is corrupted? If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it greatly... I wiped dalvik and did a factory reset from within CWM, but it didn't help. Does anyone have a stock (maybe rooted) ROM that I could install in case this is actually corrupted? Thanks!
