hello guys i wana share something i dont know if u guys already know or not . today i was using my wifes htc desire i had regular headphones with no mic on it. so when i recieve the call i answered it and she could hear me and i could hear her . so i used the headphones and phones mic i think thats located on bottom and it worked flawlessly and i tried it on my xperia x10 it didnt work howcome? they r both android
The operating system has nothing to do with it... it's more of a hardware issue. The sound proccessing unit of the X10 may not be able to output via headphones and input via on-board mic at the same time.
This is dum!!!
I wish they fix ghis problem

Why? What kind of mental plays through the headphones and speaks through the phone?
Just speak through either.. but remember your microphone cable that came with the phone.. and your fine

The sound quality on the x10 isn't all that great, and the mic does pick up a lot of garbage

Take the phone back to the seller .
Hardware fault .
jje
Yeah, I think it's a hardware defect. Is the phone in warranty? If so, just send it into a service, otherwise give it back to the seller, and ask the money you payed for.

Guys as you may all know i got my desire hd yesterday. Now my problem is that i was listening to music fine. All of a sudden the music stopped playing and started again however there was no sound. So i tried three other earphones. Still no luck. I then also realised that the speaker doesnt work. No audio at all, music or ringtones. When in a call and i put the speaker on i can hear through it. When i plug in a handsfree or even my mw600 i get nothing. What should i do?

Hey,
Was this an upgrade from a Carrier or a SIM free from a reseller? Either way I would take it back and mention the Sale of Goods Act and ask them to kindly swap out the unit for you. If it's faulty within the first 28 days you are entitled to an exchange.
Hope this helps
It was bought from a reseller. The guy is meant be my mate lol. I mean since i got the phone i just rooted it and installed volume boost because the volume was so low

No, it's no need to swap the phone, its just happens like that with stock rom. I had the same thing few times, a single restart will get back the sound for few weeks.

It's just a bug in the software. i used to have it occasionally on Froyo, but since i upgraded to Gingerbread it seems to have been fixed
Came across this proble today, on stock ROM 2.2.1 , still waiting for Gingerbread here in India.
Hope this gets resolved, its really bugging, requires me to restart phone everytime to solve this and happening quite a lot while listening to music.
To fix this I installed android revolution hd rom

Anyone feels that speaker is too weak and cant hear people's talking in the phone calling? I have to use handfree when doing calls. Just so annoying!

Please download AnEQ equaliser from market. It enable you to boost +15DB of output to your speaker. Used that. Clear sound but touch bass boost will distort the speaker.

Mine is loud enough. Haven't changed anything.

Thanks for introducing the app to me. I really donno if that's hardware problem or not. Or maybe just the phone is too big and I don't get used to it. I used 3.5" monitor mobile before. And now the phone is bigger, when do phone calls, my holding must have to be different. The speakerpohone always cant reach my ear hole. LOL!
Works beautifully. There is another app called "Volume+" which provides more options for Headsets and Bluetooth too. It too works good but "AnEQ equaliser" is bit louder.
Hi,
My samsung provided headphone controls are not working. But I can use it as a headphone, thats about it. Is there a way I can debug if its s/w or h/w problem.
I tried an N8 headset and that didnt work either, but I was not sure if it supposed to or not.
i had same probs with bt headsets and the problem was the stock music apk. installed winamp and everything works. try

It is not just with music. Mic does not work as well, so can't use the headset for voice calls

I had the same problem with the Mic on my Samsung headset. Earphones worked fine, but the Mic sounded like there was a short in the wire. I know it sucks, but just bite the bullet and buy a new pair.

I guess I have to buy another set. disappointing to see such low quality standards from Samsung.
Any recommendations for headsets which work well with Android?

Just wondering if anyone has the same problem with beats headphones on the r800x
Sent from my R800x using xda premium
Btw I mean there not "supported" with the phone
(or do it says)

Is the jack a different size or something?
No you plug them in and it says "accessory not supported"

i thought beats only worked on apple products? and that the play only uses sony products?
I think only sony ericsson headphones work properly. Dont hold me on this, but i think i saw someone say they use a different voltage or something similar

look around someone posted a link to a jack extender which works for the play to allow beats. they work fine for me

I've used a Sennheiser HD25, Sony XB500 and Audio Technica SJ11 with the Play without any trouble or adapters. I wonder what's different about Beats headphones...?
The supplied SE headphones sound strange out my laptop though.
The R800x comes with an adapter cable for non-Sony headphones... I've never had to use it, but it might be what you need.
From my experience with the phone it only accepts headphones that have the curve or L shape headphone jack( or whatever its called).
Any headphones that are straight through like most headphones will not work and get the unsupported accessories. You need an adapter for it to get it to work and then its not a guarantee from what I have read online.

I find the adapter than came with my R800x actually made headphones less compatible. I can use my strait-point (no curve on jack) headphones just fine by themselves, but if I use the sony adapter it gets really unstable.
I`m using Creative inner earphones on my play no problem.
I learnt to avoid any earphones that mention Ipod on them, unless they state clearly for MP3 players too otherwise they don`t work.
been using different brands of ear/headphone different shapes and curves or whatever it is, including beats studio, w/o any issues as long as its 3.5mm jack..
