My battery problem was becouse of the trancent class 6 8gb card(60-80ma in standby),
swaped with my friends verbatim class 4 8gb(5-10ma in standby)
even with my old sandisk 2gb non HC microSD(7-12ma in standby) I get better result than with my previous class 6 battery sucker.
App im using to test it is (currentwidget) from market, best app for testin battery drainage of roms.
If anyone else can post their results with currentwidget, wifi and data off, like this it would be great for all to know whats sucking all that sweet juice out of battery and will help development:
x MA standby
x WM ROM
x Radio
x Android ROM
x Kernel
x Micro SD
So my result:
5-10 MA standby
Chuckys GTX Lite
2.12.50.02_2
shubCRAFT 1.5
Default shubCRAFT 1.5 kernel
Verbatim class 4 8gb
UPDATE1
Another solution found by aussiebum that have worked for many is to disable or change keypad and notífication led drivers. Read post nr. 42 on page 5.
UPDATE2
Fix for random ~60ma(after boot) on standby if you had good results before. If you start Android don't use WM at all, use auto-boot on 6 sec with Exceller Multiple Build Loader for Android/Ubuntu if you want to use windows, use it but reboot the phone before you start android.
UPDATE3
So I have done lot's of testing with five different Micros SD card's.
And if someone still says SD is not related to battery I can insure you it's the biggest reason for battery drain, all these test is done with (shubCRAFT v1.5 origfonts) with new installation and absolutely same settings with SetCpu conservative 245 on screen off.
Ranking goes:
1. Kingston class 4 8gb (4-10ma stable)( As quick as class 6 transcend and doesn't effect battery drainage at all, My friend with nexus one gets about same results and its running from NAND, I'm perfectly happy with this card and wouldn't change it to anything else)
2. Verbatim class 4 8gb (8-13ma stable.)(I should say that this is middle card, bit faster and stabler than Sandisk Class2 but has bit higher drain of battery, it newer gets bellow 8ma, might luckily hit 7ma for few sec's. Still I would chose this over Sandisk Class2 because things was scrolling bit better and I think it's worth it compared to small difference in battery life)
3. Sandisk class 2 8gb (6-12ma)( Not stable sometimes it's at 30ma or 50ma when it's been on standby for long time. Is only little bit if not at all slower than Verbatim but still not as fast as Kingston or Transcend)
4. Transcend class 6 8gb (10-X ma)( Fast but unstable couldn't get it bellow 58ma in shubcraft, generally it's very fast and android runs well with no problems in load times, good but unstable battery usage newer got 40 min with 1% from any build)
5. Sandisk NON HC 2gb (9-15ma)( Slow can be used with android but not well thing gets stuck very often and load times are randomly crazy).
So my result ( at flight mode, using setcpu, no overclocking, no task killer) :
6 MA standby
energy cookie v2.5 08/28
2.12.50.02_2
mattc 1.7 sense build
Default mattc 1.7 kernel
Sandisk 4Gb, class 2
Removed task killer, after I pressed kill all button my MA went up to 130 for 5 min.
Think if it does that on every screen close.
energy cookie, newest
energy froyostone
2.12 radio
newest kernel
stock 16gb class 2 sd.
56mA on standby. i only let it run for a few mintues tho. ill keep it on and see what happens.
i have setcpu turn the cpu down to the lowest mhz on idle.. maybe ill test with that off as well.
hmm just installed current widget but a bit shocked to see 418mA displayed :O is that normal or what lol
ok nvm gone to 3mA now lol
Got ~60ma with HD2Froyo v2, 3g enabled, with widgets and setpu @ 245mhz on standby. Interestingly HD2Froyo v1 gave me 14ma with similar widgets, setcpu and 3g enabled. Trying to figure out why
Energy Cookie ROM (From late July)
Radio 2.12
Kernel: ElBartoME 2.6.32.9 #1
SHUBcraft 1.
16GB Class 2
I'm getting 60-62ma in standby, with data on and off (doesn't make a difference)
Right now Im not running SetCPU, Im going to try that to see if it brings it down.
After some poking around, I think I've figured out the cause of high battery drain during Standby / Screen off - at least for darkstone's HD2Froyo V2 Android build.
Battery drain seems to be caused by the libraries used to control and enable the led and keypad light to work.
READ UPDATED POST: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7949689&postcount=42
Current Widget now reports 7ma drain when screen off/standby, using SetCPU to set Interactive CPU Governor and 245-1113mhz scaling (8ma when using Conservative), versus 60+ma prior.
Downsides - led notification light is wonky, flashes green after boot (and goes away after awhile).
This "fix" should also work with other Android builds with battery drain problems (assuming those builds have led light working)... of course, check with Current Widget on your standby battery drain 1st (I do it by using 1min poll time and *waiting* at least 1min with screen off before checking!) to see if you have the same problem first.
If someone else could try this "fix" on their builds that would be great.
This was tested on a Euro HD2 running Miri v17 and Radio 2.09, with a Transcend Class 6 16gb sd card.
EDIT: Dropped some outdated info away from this fix.

Battery drain seems to be caused by the libraries used to control and enable the led and keypad light to work.
Deleting /system/lib/hw/lights.mahimahi.so and lights.qsd8k.so (both dated August), and renaming lights.mahimahi1.so and lights.qsd8k1.so to lights.mahimahi.so and lights.qsd8k.so, respectively in that folder and rebooting fixed my battery drain issue.
Current Widget now reports 11ma drain when screen off/standby, using SetCPU to set Interactive CPU Governor and 245-1113mhz scaling (8ma when using Conservative), versus 60+ma prior.
Downside now is that the keypad and led lights no longer work, but at least I'm not getting stupid battery drain.

The files might also be named differently on different builds though, so will need some experimenting.

Amazing. This works perfectly. I just went from 60ma standby to 5ma standby (neither with setcpu or a task killer)
See my post two up for my full settings, but I'm using shubcraft 1.5, in that directory the only one I found was lights.qsd8k.so. I renamed it to lights.qsd8k2.so and my battery drain went way down. The best part is the keypad lights and status led still work.

I got an instant wake up delay after renaming lights.qsd8k.o, but I will report back on battery drain over night
Edit: screen delay is gone now...
With WiFi on and taskkiller running and setcpu running I received these results after renaming one file

Yeah, I think there's a newer library build for controlling the led's which don't have the battery drain issues... Bangster's build comes to mind (as reported by someone else in this forum). Ditto with your build I guess.

glad to help. Spread the news and bug the chefs to update their light libraries with newer ones that don't have the battery drain problem!
I plan to try out the light libs from Bangsters (and probably mattc's) tonight.
Anyone having this problem?
When I go to sleep after 4 hours my screen is blank and the device doesn't turn on
if I don't remove the battery. After reboot currentwidget shows 250ma for 20min in log.
I had SOD before but this is just one huge SOD that has happened for me several times.

I always had the issue of battery life being short as hell, 60ma on standby
i even updated my radio to 2.14* the newest one forgot the name but no luck!
But recently i got good battery life 5ma on standby!!! After i flashed the newest ChuckyRom Lite Rom.
But yesterday it went back to sucking again after i restarted android. i restarted android before, but the thing i did different this time was have the charger plugged in when i booted into android.
So my question is to the people that have excellent android battery life, How do u boot into android? Do you Flash a new rom? Format your memory card? Do you use set cpu? ATK autokill?

I can easily go a day on one charge. And normally I boot into Android while charging. I don't think it matters tho cuz you have to unplug and replug your charger cable before android recognizes it. I'm running Kumars GTX and have a class 6 micro SD (helps with battery life). I also use set CPU and have a taskiller icon I normally press before I turn my screen off. Also I have 2.12_5 radio and had worse battery with 2.14. Hope this helps,

Android 1/2 day battery
with Custom Windows Builds my HD2 battery is good for 2-3 days
BUT
with Android builds after 1/2 a day or maximum 1 day the battery is game over
When booting into Android - is Windows running in Background and using resources
Then I would understand the drain,...

Lose the Taskiller icon, it does nothing but harm. First of all it uses extra battery, because most apps you kill will simply re-open quite shortly after, and secondly it may slow down your phone, or generate problems. Android works in a completely different way than Win(Mo/dows), here it's not a good thing to clear up ram.
The only occasion in which you should use a taskiller, is when an app goes mental and you need to shut it down somehow. For all other cases, don't use it. That's not my personal preference, but a fact that all Android-savvy people will confirm.
For me it sucks the battery out when I just use android
Standby I get 8-14mA, once I use some apps for few minutes it jumps up to 150-400mA :S
What can be the cause?

winmo IS NOT running in the background! android is not emulated or s.th. like that.
well maybe it has to do with usa hd2 or euro hd2? i have the usa version
its just realllllly odd that the battery varies sooo much from person to other
i have tried countless things to improve battery, search far and wide in these forums, but no luck.
and when i dont do a thing it does well at 6ma but then all of a sudden it raises to 60ma on standby, when i restart. (60ma is what i always get)
i even got the new sd card from htc free but no luck and its a samsung! (im pretty sure samsung is more reliable, no?)
MAYBE A FILE GETS CORRUPTED that has to do with power management?
just throwing ideas around, anyone have any other theories?
I recently was able to get better battery life, this is my setup
8 gig class 6 microsd
Radio: 2.10_50
WinMO Rom: ChuckyRoom-Tabtastic lite (Put in AIRPLANE MODE before booting Android)
Android: mDeejay froyo Z 1.3 rev.
I am not using setCpu, but I DO USE Taskiller
With this set up I am getting 4-7 mA drain in standby
My tips for battery life are in the FAQ in my sig.
My Stable WinMo & Android SetUp with LOW Battery Drain
For some time i have been trying WinMo & Android setups.
The Android builds are very good, but with the wrong setup our battery will drain to fast.
The setup that i got now seems very stable, with all functions working good.
My battery lasted a full day without a recharge half way.
I got my 3G on all day, emails checked every hour, gmail sync & facebook sync on.

But what did i do before this!
1 - Remove SD
Format my SD on my PC
2 - Task29 my phone
3 - Put Radio 2.14.50.04 on my phone
4 - SD back in my phone
5 - Installed Standard Energy Rom with Sense, but turned off after install.
I did install sense just in case Android fails me, and i need to work on WinMo.
Did basic config in WinMo. Used XDA_UC and EnergysSettings Importer
6 - Installed MDJ FroYo Sense Revolution v.1.5 without a data.img
I let the install create the data.img it self.
7 - Installed my usual apps, and did my basic config on my phone.
After this i worked with my phone till battery was on 5%.
Turned off my phone, removed battery, SD & SIM.
Pushed power button for 10 sec. and charged my phone to 100% while it's off.
After this i used the apps above to control my battery and CPU.
I hope this is usefull for some of you, and if there are more stable SetUps with low battery drain, please post it here and i'll add a link from this first post to your setup.

Good setup, but for me, for example, with mdeejay rev and change kernel to hastarin 7.8, i have 4-6 mha in stand by, with great battery life and without setcpu or taskkileer. For my(short) experience, in most of case for keep low the battery drainage need to try different kernel in a build, and set display and connection for improved battery life. At today, i can say that with some builds i have in stand by better battery life that winmo.
My best regards and thanks for sharing your setup.
Tnx for your comments.
I will try to see how it works without the 2 apps mentioned in my first post.
But working with them gave me realy good results.
I will report back when i got news working without it.

Finding the battery drain in "mAh" puzzled me for a while too.
Go on Android Market and find something called "Current Widget".
Go to your homescreen and place it there and it'll give you a reading
Also, I'm currently using MDJ Evo Sense rEVOlution 2.3 with MDJ's R2 Kernel.
I haven't messed with SetCPU much, just made sure it was overclocked and set on "Smartass".
I'm getting 5 mAh at this very moment

Google mail checked every 15mins
Hotmail checked every 2 hours

Facebook every hour
Weather every 2 hours
depending on how many emails I get and calls, I get about 13 hours minimum on one charge (heavy email day and about 1-1.5 hours talk + internet use of about 30mins)
today I have had approx 30-40 email, 30mins talk time, no internet use today and have had the phone running for 11 hours and i still have 50% left.

So, my setup: Build android mdeejay froyo revoution 1.5, winmo rom chukyrom by gigiline, radio 2.12.50-02-2, kernel hastarin 7.8

Very nice guide i have been doing same but guess this is gud guide with step by step process...
Here is my setup:
ROM: Energy GTX 2.5 - fully functional sense WinMo;
Radio: 2.15.50
Android Build: HyperDroid 1.7 with michyprima's kernel (OCd / undervolted), CM6.1
NO SETCPU INSTALLED - real gain I got in battery life when I uninstalled SetCPU (why - cuz of OCd and undervolted CPU - conflict drains battery).
I got CONSTANTLY 3-4-5-6mA in stand by and battery easily lasts over a full 24hr days with my average use...
This has nothing to do with half a things for me that you listed above but it all depends what kind of device you got - and it may work just fine for someone

Contrary to rumour, Sense does NOT use that much battery. The Android system itself uses more CPU than Sense. Sense is the 5th thing on my Top Apps in System Panel for the last day, behind XDA and Swype.

yes man, with my words i want only to say that hiper 1.7 it's without sense not that sense drain much battery that buils without
bYeZ!!
ii have been watching my new revived htc desire hd2(means hd2 which runs android) and i've tried a couple of nand builds and dozens of sd builds for the battery life
and here is the result
considering the fact that sd builds use sd cards to operate they use 2 times more battery than nand build
and now my battery lasts almost 2 days more in nand , while in sd builds i couldn't get a day through with it
but due to some rmnet connection problems most of people are experiencing high battery drain like 150ma
if u want to really compare the battery performance u have to put both builds on flight mod and the try them
I'm experiencing high battery drain running AD from NAND.
With: GSM + Data connection (no wifi, no BT), 55mA when idle
In the same configuration running from SD...5-6mA when idle.
Tried to disable data connection when running from NAND, result is 54mA...
I re-calibrate the battery, but still high battery drain...
Don't know where to look for as the NAND configuration regarding power management is exactly the same as when running from SD(screen auto-adjust on like from SD, screen timeout set to 30s like from SD)
could u give a little bit more information about your nand build and the radio
there is also a possibility that programs are struggling in the background
so you'd better try a clean build like nexus one
how to improve power consumption? in standby the phone has peaks 5ma to 50-60ma constantly! How can I do to improve the consumption?
i have MDJ FroYo Revolution v.2.2 [RMNET][kernel:MDJ S9.2 OC
Radio 2.14
I have read that some people do a certain procedure with battery and then obtain the optimization of consumption, you can say, or how to describe me?

how to improve power consumption? in standby the phone has peaks 5ma to 50-60ma constantly!

I followed the procedure:
-Charge the phone until full while the phone is totally off (shut down)
-Boot while the phone is plugged
-Delete the file batterystats.bin
-Unplugged the phone and wait until it is fully empty
-Reboot the phone to completely empty it
-Charge the phone until it's full
Done.
Im experienced high standby drain also. The only cure I found was to reboot the phone with the charger plugged in. If I just reboot it without plugging the charger, the battery drain stays about 50mA

ok look there are only two factors in the world that can cause battery drain
connection problem that is usually due to unsuitable radio and build
and background cpu involvement in applications that is caused by some applications
and it can be handled by task killer applications
except these two problems what really can cause battery drain?

I try and let you know, thanks!
In that final part:
-Charge the phone until it's full
Do I have to charge with phone off or on?
Am I missing something here? The title says "possible solution", but it's just a discussion about the fact that flight mode is the best way to compare SD and NAND consumption.
???
Have you tried the Radio drain fix?
- Enable gps+BT+WIFI
- Have a lock on GPS, wait for wifi and BT to go on
- Disable GPS+wifi+bt
This usually removes the 60ma drain, even if the GPS is off or has never been on.
>Most builds "forgot" to shut it off on start, but without showing the icon.

I did it and worked, at least for a while, I'm just wondering how often I have to do that?
Hi all!
I tried yesterday [AUG12] AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 GB2.3.5 CM7 build from SD card.
This was my first Android experience with HD2 and must say that i am impressed.
Didnt expected that everything will work so flawless. Deep respect to creators of this build.
I noticed only one problem so far. When i turn screen off (red button) and when i try to turn it on again there is a lag presence (3-10 secs) and again sometimes it turns on instantly. Is there maybe some fix for this behavior?! I mean i can live with this but ...
I have played with device intensive for 2 hours and than i leave it with wifi turned on overnight and battery duration was almost 14 h. Is this good because i dont know what to except from SD build ??
And should i use some autoloader before HTC Sense in WM loads as some advise to maximize batt life or that is no longer necesarry with new builds like this?!

This is a known problem with SD builds, don't worry it is normal.
To check the battery, use Current Widget from the android market, it should show 5-8 mA in my personal experience with the ACA SD build, although some people get even less than that apparently. I think that 14 hours seems a bit low, try using JuiceDefender (Android market) and SetCPU (here on XDA) to maximize battery life.
You may as well disable HTC Sense in Windows if you don't need to use it, and use an autoloader to load Android automatically, makes the whole thing more convenient and I also saw a minuscule improvement in battery life.
Thank you.
Current widget showing cca 160 mA drain in standby with JuiceDefender turned on (wifi and gsm are turned off).
Without JuiceDefender drain was about 230 mA
How to get such low values like 5-8 mA.
Android is started via haret.exe from WM (latest official 3.14 rom)?!
I tried to search but the results were not conclusive, so decided to start separate thread.
I installed NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.9a on an SD card to try it first, and I am running it from Windows Mobile through haret. Performance is good, everything seems to work fine, besides the battery life. It drains the battery in about 10% an hour. On Windows, it can last several days with the same type of usage, so it is not the battery.
Better battery stats does not show anything useful - it reports that the main consumption comes from the OS itself.
Nothing seems to alter that behavior significantly - I wiped and installed the ROM again, so that there are no applications of my own running. I turned off wifi, mobile data, and changed connection to 2G. That causes only minor variations in the battery drain. Played with the cpu governors - same thing, just minor improvements.
My device is T-Mobile HD2 with class 4 SD card. I used PPP when installing the build as the other setting did not work for me.
Has anybody experienced the same behavior? Do you think I will be better off if I put the ROM on NAND?

Try using NAND it does reduce battery usage by some percentage. But don't expect a big change in battery drain , it is common issue that we all are facing.
Battery should last about a day on normal usage. 10% per hour is a lot. Is your screen turned on? Screen takes most energy of all. Turn intensity down and let it turn to sleep in 30 secs or 1 minute.
Also, frequent battery checking drains battery too, so leave the phone alone
Don't use tools as juice defender, my opinion is they take more juice than they spare.
Sent from my NexusHD2 using xda app-developers app
and let the rom settle down for a day or so
becuase you cant really tell what the battery drain is after
a fresh rom install
Ok, if the range is around one day, then I do not think there is anything specific with my installation. It can be weaker battery or too much screen time. It was just too different than on win.
Thanks all
battery drain

Battery drain will always be an issue as the battery really is too small for the phone. Have you tried setcpu or similar these cpu management programs seem to work to a degree in increasing battery life.
