I rooted a coworker's droid x today using easy root app and now when he trys to download anything from the market it just says "starting download"but never does download it. Any ideas on what could be the problem? Also, what is the best app for wifi tether on the x? I tried the one from google and it didn't work? The phone has been rebooted 3 times now and I have tried enabling encryption and still no go.thanks.
Not sure about the first issue, but I used the wireless tether link below and it works on my X

first question ask; try a factory restore
second question ask; no clue, having trouble with my wifi tether too...

Just started to have issues downloading apps from the market. Im on any connection and im connected to the internet but they fail right away with this message "Download Unsuccessful" ..........rooted too. Any Ideas?
*Edit*
I need some others to check this out
Last night I reset to factory defaults and after 1-2 downloads from the market everything after I tried to download fails, rooted. Then I flashed the stock firmware downloaded a couple apps no problem, rooted, couple more downloaded then FAIL! Not able to download until I do a factory reset, even than I can only get 1- maybe 2 downloaded.
I'm having trouble as well. I'm rooted, I posted yesterday but nobody replied. Can somebody out hedre try and install fring?
Rooted. And no problems.
Are you signed into Talk for authentication?
I had similar problem on my EVO yesterday as well.. So i don't think it's a phone issue...

I did a reset back to stock pulled down a couple apps then dead after that...CAn anyone pull apps off the market right now?
I was having major problems with apps, then I did a cache wipe and factory reset. Problem solved.
I was also restoring apps from mybackup pro, which may have caused the issue. The apps were backuped from my evo and restored on the epic.
Its a apk I removed just don't know which one :/
I take that back...I lost market functionality again and have not removed any files only rooted AM i the only one experiencing this?
I rooted (using the older line by line instructions, not the single automatic script) and have not had any problems with the market.
i rooted with the one click script and have been downloading apps with no problem, downloaded an update to gps status tonight on 3g and barcode scanner over wifi tonight.
Im having the same issue, I rooted so i can do free wifi tethering (hotspot) and now i cant even download the ****ing app to do so.....
Hello All,
Well after staying up all night and re-rooting my bricked Epic everything is back to almost the norm....except my Wireless Tether app that I downloaded isn't working properly. When I click on "start tethering" it shows that it's working but it's not registering with my laptop as it used to....I do have busybox installed. The version is Wireless Tether v2.0.5-pre 8 and the baseband version of my phone is 107. Was afraid to update to the newer version since everyone seems to be *****in about it.....I am rooted for sure, because all my other root-friendly apps are fine. HEYELP!!!
PROBLEM SOLVED: after uninstalling, rebooting my phone, reinstalling, and rebooting it is working fine. Same with Barnacle. Barnacle was off the market and the version of Wireless Tether I have is from the link on SDX. Thanks to JoeyKrim for this tip,
I have a rooted DROID 2 and after installing the OTA update my tethering app which requires rooting(Barnacle WiFi tether) won't work. It says I need root access. My other apps which require root access still work. Does anyone have any ideas? I have tried re-rooting the Droid and it says it is successfully rooted, but still no tethering capabilities.
Any feedback would be appreciated

Does Superuser pop up and ask permission when you try to use it?
no, in fact when I look at superuser permissions, it says that it already has permissions. i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but still the same resopnse.
"Barnacle requires 'su' to access the hardware! Please, make sure you have root access."
that is the message I get, but I obviously have root access, so I'm not sure what to try next
Try wireless tether for root users
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that app and while it doesn't give a specific error message, all it says is "unable to start tethering". I am wondering if there is something in the update that is preventing tethering, or perhaps the apps need to be tweaked to work with the update.
I certainly am frustrated, but will continue to explore options. If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated. I will post if I find a solution in case anyone else is experiencing the same issues

I don't use Barnacle, but it works on mine so its not the update preventing it. I would try unrooting and rooting again.
I will try that, thanks
The oft obtaining net address then disconnect issue. Tried 5 diff hotspots with password (wep) or open networks and just loops.
Even the local library and no go so i know its a phone issue.
I uninstalled wifi tethering though i never used it, successfully that is.
More info i rooted using unrevoked prior to the froyo update, then installed the stock rom and updated ota then rooted again, still had titanium back up for certain items etc
I'm stumped here. I can't for the life of me get it to work.
1. Click activate hotspot
2. Get prompted to install certificate, asked for cert name
X. Then I get stuck at Enter password for credential storage.
I have no idea what this password might be, it's certainly not any password I've ever used.
I've tried various work-arounds found on teh google but none work so far.
Anyone have any magic to get this working?
Info: Stock rooted NC4, wanam xposed, couple of other modules, some bloat frozen with tibu etc.
Install the x tether module and use the stock hotspot app
Thanks, that works just as well as a workaround.

I am stock, not rooted and it works fine after the latest OTA. It is a bit annoying because sometimes the popup certificate warning comes up, other times it doesn't...but then you have to click the hotspot on within 30 seconds before it works.
I'll be glad to get home and get them to replace this thing. FoxFi is the only thing that works reliably after the OTA.
