Is there an app that let's you control the amount of vibrates you get when an text message, now it only "buzzes" twice but 50% of the time i don't feel it, and i'm at school alot so i can't turn on the sounds.
So there an app the configure this, or could someone help me make one? I have some program experience, but that's mostly C#

Hi!
Is there some one that have the time and skills needed for a small applications development? The application I'm looking for is basically a small utility that can monitor incoming and outgoing calls, and automatically blank the screen when a call is picked up or a new call is started. Too often it happens that the ear touches the screen during a call and initiates all sorts of unwanted mess. I know that the PhoneAlarm utility has this functionality,
but unfortunately I don't need the rest of that package, which by the way has quite a large "footprint" in memory.
It is of course possible to press the power button manually to achieve the same effect, but it's kind of irritating to do that on every call.
Anyone that volunteer?
Regards,
PK
isnt it built-in w/ the phone ?????
S2U2 has a Blank-on-talk feature along with all its other greatness. Check it out. There is a thread for it on this forum.
excuse me for my number of questions in this forum ,iam new .
has any one noticed that the vibrating alert at the xperia is very weak compared to most phone ,or only MY PHONE IS defective
Ive got the same.. Cant feel it at all in jeans..
True. The X10 doesn't vibrate really hard. Especially not compared to my old SE K850.
On my Motorola Droid (Milestone) I could change the vibrate pattern hope to see that an the x10 in the future. Cannot fell or hear my x10 when it's in my pocket...
being able to change vibrate patterns would be nice!

i think i have to agree wiv u guyz.. i could barely feel it vibrate when people rang or text. stil weak with the ringing but as for the messaging.. i have an app called chompsms.. much much cooler than the in-built messaging app and atleast that app allows you to mess with the vibrate patterns such as normal, single short, long vibrate n so on! so i can truely say i barely miss my messagez these dayz lol
xperia x10 vibrate notifications
Guys, I found a program in the market called Smart Vibrator. It will allow you to set your incoming calls and SMS the way you want. It doesn't make the phone vibrate SUPER strong/loud, but it does allow you to make it vibrate longer so that you can potentially feel it. I think you will need to turn off the vibrate notifications in your SMS program in order for Smart Vibrator to use its settings. I love it. BTW, I use Handcent as my default SMS program. I had to turn off the SMS vibrate notifications in that program to get Smart Vibrator to work properly. Good luck.
Sorry if this is trivial but this is my first Samsung device I was HTC exclusive for quite some time just needed a change..
Anyway here is my problem: I am not getting any vibration when it come to alerts. Text email etc. It works for incoming calls and haptic work when typing and using soft keys. So is th is just how Samsung does things or am I overlooking a setting somewhere ? Not the end of the world just trying to customize the phone a little better for me
Again sorry if it's such a trivial thing I just can't seem to change it
So I just got an S4 on Friday, and I've been customizing things and playing with it all weekend. I haven't done any changing of the software like I usually come to xda to do, just played with the stock everything.
When I get a text, my phone doesn't light up, only the little LED does (I've seen the option to turn the LED on/off for notifications) and then when I turn the screen on manually by hitting the power button, I have to click the text message, THEN pick my finger up, go towards the bottom of the screen, and swipe it there? It's a total of 3 gestures (click, click, swipe) to open my phone to a recent text IF I hear my notification. Most of the time I'm gaming and have headphones on, or am watching TV or something and see the screen light up on my phone and go straight to the text.
My S2 I had last week showed up a little envelope that I swiped and it went straight to the new text message I received. This was after the screen lit up upon arrival of the message initially. This took 1 gesture of effort on my part to open a text.
Has anyone else experienced/noticed this, and if so, does anyone know how to fix this? If I'm not being clear enough please let me know. Thanks in advance guys.
that's generally the way all android phones work.
if you want to, download handcent and use that for your texting. you can enable the popup and customize how long it opens the screen for i.e. 5 sec 10 sec or 20 sec

I'll take your word for it, it's just that I've owned 2 android phones and 50% of them worked right and 50% of them are being obnoxious just to open a text. My phone lights up when someone calls, why wouldn't it light up when I get a text, like every other phone I've ever owned? I just feel really bummed about my purchase. Texting is 75% of what I use my phone for, and it's annoying as hell on this one. I'll check out handcent though, I really appreciate the suggestion. Thanks

If there's a way to just get stock to work right, I'd most definitely prefer that. If I HAVE to use some 3rd party app to text, I guess I'll settle for that.

Mate you're lucky. I hate my screen lighting up when I receive a text! So much so I installed a mod on my S3 to disable it.
But my S4 on stock ROM lights the screen up whenever I get a text.
I would suggest you to do a factory reset, that should sort it hopefully.

my motorola phones have never popped up with text messages, it wastes battery especially when you cant look at it right away. besides is it so hard to just open the phone up and look? lol
So, I really like that Hangouts now handles text msgs. It's much cleaner than the stock app, and more 3rd party apps, IMO. I only have 2 gripes, and I'm curious if there is a way around these?
(Before we delve into this, let me just stop all the "use ChompSMS" comments. I want to use Hangouts if this is possible. I've used many 3rd party apps, I prefer HO's.)
Issue 1: In the sock app, if your text/reply goes over 'X' number of characters (140 maybe?), it will let you keep typing your book of a text, then break it into parts 1, 2, 3, etc once it is sent. That's great. In Hangouts, once you reach the character limit for SMS, it just stops typing, or worse, it overwrites previous characters. I'm not seeing a way around this in the settings. Anybody know of a fix?
Issue 2: This is the worst of the two IMO. The stock SMS app would wake the screen for like 30 seconds when I got a text, and since my phone is on silent or vibrate at work, I came to rely on seeing this out of the corner of my eye as a sort of notification. Hangouts does not do this and there is no option in the settings to enable it. I have set up a Tasker profile (my first one!, even though I've owned the app for many years) to wake the screen when I get any text. So far, it seems to be working. However, I am wondering if there is a direct plugin, or in-app fix for this, rather than relying on Tasker to handle it?
Thoughts, anyone?

Try the dynamic notifications app from the store. That'll wake the device for you when you get a message.
The limit thing could probably be changed with hacks but i think that would be the a PITA. Best wait for Google to fix it up.
