Hello,
I have noticed there was a problem with missed calls which are shown in Lock Screen. Particularly in case of missed call, the lock screen probably show previous number and not the really number of missed call,
Does anyone have noticed this strange behaviour ? Is there any tips in order to get rid of this really annoying issue ???
Thanks
I notice this problem too. It's one of the many bugs of SENSE UI. No cure for that at the moment.
I'd encourage you to write and email complaint to HTC Support. Do not be contented with their standard response of "pls bring the phone to service center for checking and replacement". Replacement is not gonna solve it. No matter how many times they are willing to replace your unit. The problem is in the SENSE UI.
Let us force them to actually READ our complaints and provide us with real solutios. Possible thru updates or new ROM.
HTC customer support is very LAZY. The laziest i've ever encountered. Pls help us bombard them with countless complaints. SO that they will be forced to get up and do their work. For the benefit of us consumers.
You are right my friend.... I have already sent an message to HTC !!! I am waiting for their responce

Many old threads on this topic. My main advice is to get rid of the phone skin, it speeds things up nicely, but I'm not sure if it'll fix your problem - I don't use my Universal as a phone, so I've got no experience of it

Hi,
I have my x1 now for a little less then a week, and I have to say, as nice as one side of it is, as bad it is on the other side.
Maybe its just THIS special x1, but I have massive calls, when ppl tell me it went straight to mailbox, or they tell me, it rang 10 times and then the mailbox came on.However, my phone never rang!!!!
This is a massive downturn and makes me want to trow it out of my window.
Anyone else experience this kind of problems?
Maybe its a network problem, I will inform my provider too. But this shouldnt happen. This fone is my life line to my clients, and if they call and they cant reach me they call an other supplier and I cant afford that.
So anyone else with tha kind of problem?
Thx
H
I have also had this happen to me, a friend called and the first thing i new about it was when i recieved a text alert telling me i had missed a call.
it would be nice, but my provider doesnt offer this feature....
so this is some kind of software glitch...anyone else???
If this is a standard the x1 is gone for me. Cant afford to loose clients
I saw on few websites people complained about this issue. Well some of them at least.
Does anyone has a slightest idea if this is a hardware or software issue?
I tried hard restarting the phone - nothing happens.
When i insert the headphones, nothinghappens. I installed that toggleheadset program, and all it does it enables me to hear sound through headset, but when i try skipping the song from the headset button, it does nothing.
Also, trackball backlight and button lights are out.
Its a 2 days old phone, i dont like the facts that i will give them a 2 days old phone to repair and then get it back. I bought the new phone...
Anyone has an idea? Is there any chance that this new software patch will fix this?
thanks in advance
well, first of all, report the problem to HTC....most people seem to complain on forums, but not to HTC, so it leaves an impression of a problem affecting only a few people, when it's not :/
second, i can only quote what they answered me:
We have received very, very few queries regarding the issue you are facing, so I thank you for taking the time in reporting it to us.
For the above reason, I can not confirm if a software fix is on its way, and indeed if HTC will play a part in this release. I have taken the liberty of passing this issue on to our developers for their consideration.
Thanks for your answer.
Actually i did contact HTC, out of the same reason you stated here. and here is what ive got:
Dear valued HTC customer,
Thank you for contacting our Customer Support Center. We are dedicated to providing you with the best quality service and answering all of your questions and concerns.
We would recommend you to hard reset your device. If this does not help please contact us in order to book your phone into repair .
If the above steps do not resolve your issue, we invite you to visit the support area on our Web site. Please go to: http://www.htc.com/www/support.aspx
i would just like to know if its a software or hardware issue.. but seems to me that its hardware.. not sure though..
i think it's software, otherwise that Toggle wouldn't do anything, what i don't get is why hard resets don't help....thought maybe there was something on the original SD card and formatting/changing it maybe lost us something important, but that seems unlikely :/
Mine got sent back to HTC over a week ago apparently they are INVESTIGATING!
why this stops T Mobile from giving me a replacement is a *&^&**^%$ mystery to me !
will bell them this week ....................ON MY OLD VIEWTY .......to get an update
I did sent mine back to the reseller here in Netherlands. Within two days I got a brand new one.
Everything seems to be working allright but the issue appeared three days after I turned it on so now is my second day. Fingers crossed tomorrow.......
Good luck. I think HTC received a lot complaints about this issue last week. I heard my reseller said they had three broken Hero's last week.
Its a hardware fault with a board that connects to the main PCB. Send it back for a refund/replacement. You shouldnt have to go the waranty route since it was obviously faulty when you got it. Even if it happened after 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months or 6 months, it should not fail that quickly. The law is on your side.
I'm pretty sure HTC know about this problem since its all over the net now!
I resorted to checking the price of iPhones on ebay earlier so someone please help me before its too late.
Phone - HTC HD2 on Vodafone UK, Appears unbranded but it won't let me download the official Rom from HTC.com based on my serial so who knows...
ROM 1.43.405.1 (70124) WWE
Problems:
1) Text entry - Totally innacurate, the backspace button might has well be labelled "random letter" as it's totally useless!
2) Tap to compose text - Takes 15 seconds if more than about 20 messages from someone, totally unacceptable !!
3) Messages not being sent - I annoyingly have resorted to putting delivery reports on and getting an annoying text message tone back as every single day i'll look at my phone and realise 4-5 messages are merrily waiting in the outbox. the only way i can resolve it is by resetting the phone and sending a further text, usually saying "sorry this didnt send..."
4) Random freezing - Just decides now and again to make me wait for the simplest of tasks.
5) My Location - Doesnt work
6) Facebook - Decided that enough is enough and it doesnt want to upload pictures anymore with no reason given
7) Silent ringing - Sometimes my HTC feels that it would be rude to ring my phone, and so doesnt. it just lights up and says someone is callling despite working fine moments before and being on loud.
I thought i could live with all these things before but they have got worse and more frequent leaving the phone totally unusable. It's a brilliant toy but a terrible phone.
I want to update the ROM to see if that helps but i have to say im not comfortable using the goldcard method and when i inserted my serial onto the HTC website to get the official one it didnt let me download it ??? A friend of mine could do his, if i used his serial to download the installer would it work?
Any help greatly appreciated
This does sound unacceptable.
It may be related to the supplier or the batch of hardware- I have a SIM free one which came with ROm 1.43 and only saw occasional failure to send SMS messages.
The delay loading long conversations is a known bug, and although there is a workaround there is no formal fix yet.
Operator supplied devices, though essentially unbranded, are still not eligible for HTC ROM updates. A ROM downloaded by someone else would also fail unless you use the goldcard method.
Vodafone are still saying the HD2 has been discontinued, so a ROM update is unlikely from them. You may want to try asking for a warranty repair as the phone is unfit for purpose.
In the interim have you tried a factory reset? You'd lose all your own data but it may stabilise the device.

Big plus one on all that.
Neil - Why has it been discontinued by Voda, presume this is due to all the problems with it? What about the other networks.
When the 1.60 ROM is officially released im going to try that.
I have none of your problems except that My Location works partially. I truly believe you have a faulty device so you should take it back.

I've got a vodafone uk hd2 and you're right, you can't update the firmware from the htc website ,although isn't there a soft spl out now?
1. it took me a while to get used to the touch keyboard and I still find it a bit too sensitive. I think the the sensitivity can be adjusted but mine certainly doesn't produce 'random' letters!
2. duuno - I don't keep that many messages but i think if you tap the keyboard icon it might speed things up.
3. there's an official htc fix for that.
4. never had that.
5. works for me.
6. don't really use it but it doesn't seem to want to *download* my pics.
7. never had that
Or try a cooked Rom via "SSPL Method" ......<<HERE>>. Read through the thread to see how hundreds of unhappy Leo owners with offical Roms are now happy with immediate fixes from our own xda chefs....
This is just a temporary way to flash only cooked ROMs as the community is patiently wait for the magic work or Cmonex's Hard SPL.

It's not technical, but marketing. Voda have (had?) a big backlog of orders for the HD2 and they weren't taking new orders until the back orders had been processed. They then started saying that they would not be supplying any more HD2's despite extremely strong demand.
This has been reported to be due to Voda pushing the iPhone heavily and not wanting to compete too much. We also suspect they get the iPhone at a much keener price, so it is in their interests to push that at the expense of the HD2, as the costs/tariffs are similar.
This is all just rumour and speculation of course though some Vodafone insiders have hinted that it has some truth.
The ability to flash a 1.61 ROM may have the same limitations as other official HTC ROMs so it may be that SSPL (or hopefully HSPL) will be the only answer, though that does have warranty implications.

To take the thread off-topic slightly, can you tell me why most people prefer hard spl over soft? I'm not sure what the differences are.
HardSPL is written into the Bootloader file on the device, so if anything goes wrong, the SPL isn't affected and you can go on to flash another ROM.
SoftSPL makes a temporary overwrite to the bootloader; in general it is pretty safe but if by any chance it goes wrong (we had one chap who didn't replace the back cover during a flash and the battery fell out, rendering his device a bit of a brick!) there is a risk the whole thing could become unresponsive.
I'd always try to have a genuine HTC ROM for your specific device available as a backup- as long as you can access the bootloader screen it ought to work.
re
This hd2 thingy is lastly a phone to me. It's predecessor was that also, only less capable. I managed. I like, that it mostly replaces a phone and I can live with it's shortcomings in that area. Admittedly, I have none of the issues, You are talking about. Stock 1.48 rom, some cosmetix.
What it is though...to me...it is hard to describe. Laptop/net in the pocket - and since I do not watch/listen to public television/radio - by choice, this is my secondary home.
I've got what I payed for this time. The HD was borderline, but the HD2 is no contest. It does, what I need it to.
Constantly and Instantly. If the HD did that, I'd not be selling it right now.
I know, this helps You not in technical terms, sorry, but try to observe the philosophical aspects of your choices.
Edit:
Oooops, one minor thingy, I forgot, since what brought about this completely irrelevant response from me in the first place: If the iphone did all teh things, that the hd2 does for me, I'd still not get it. EVER. Even if it'd suck me ****, do my laundry and mend my sox. I ****ing HATE the crowd and that doubles for the "I"crowd. Every breath they take. I would pay a pretty penny to be rid of them all. That is how 'green' I am.
One point of jealousy is the Otterbox Defender. The only one.
Good luck with the adjustment!
I went to best buy and bought a brand new evo. (2.3.3 ) I have had to take it back 3 times due to it restarting on me. Now the one i have you have to mash down the power button to get it to lock or unlock. Its not a simple press. It does work, however. Would anyone just take it back and get a 5th one or just deal with it. the people at best buy are starting to get annoyed with me. any thoughts?
The customer is always right take it back until you are satisfied who cares if they are becoming annoyed with you

One other thing here. I didnt want to clutter up the threads. I tried putting google voice on my evo. when i made calls or had incoming txt messages it would go to my voice instead of my real number. Has anyone had this happen?
In the settings of the Google Voice app there should be a way to disable that.
Agreed, they need to make it right.
