I made a nice call to *2 this evening, talked to a nice rep and kindly asked them to pass the word along to whoever they can that we are very unhappy with the FPS cap and quality of the evo. I wasn't complaining to them, just asked them to push it up the channels so maybe sprint will put some pressure on HTC to make things right.
If we all do the same, maybe sprint will get the message.
LOL, you spoke to a front line rep? Good luck with that.

one person isn't going to make a difference, but if more people call in then someone is going to notice. Even if I did talk to the garbage disposal.
am pretty happy with my evo but the cap sucks tho lol
I just ended up returning my device. Not sure if I should let them know why though.

I actually bought it from Wirefly. I just had to get an RA number within 14 days of activating it then I had to ship it back with all the original packaging.
Then I spoke with Sprint chat to put a note on my account to revert me back to my old plan and old contract.
What cap are you guys referring to, and what's so wrong with the EVO? I'm loving mine!
I might call if I was unhappy with the EVO... as it stands though, I love this phone, so no reason to complain here.

There should be an effective way to communicate with HTC on its issues. Even their forums don't seem all that effective, I'd like to see some official response from HTC as well:
Popular discussions & Product Support:
http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/android/f/94.aspx?tab=support&Sort=Active&PageIndex=1
http://www.htc.com/us/products/evo-sprint?view=1-1&sort=0
http://www.htc.com/us/support/evo-sprint/help/
I played with an EVO for another couple hours the other day but don't feel compelled to buy one until 2.2 & Wi-Fi fix etc..& if they don't respond to market pressures it will only make the iPhone 4 seem more worth the compromise of Apple's constraints..
Ideas on more effective communication with HTC, what say you..?
they still arent gonna do anything
I'd beg to differ, I was one of many who were suckered in to buying an Instinct. It was probably the most hyped, worst phone ever (iphone killer?). They made a number of updates for several months after release. I'm sure we'll see a few fixes.
What's wrong with the WiFi? I use mine all day, every day.
@op: Who's unhappy?
Every time a new phone comes out there is always a small group exclaiming loudly about how this or that needs to be fixed or it's a dealbreaker. Honestly, if someone had not reported the video cap 99% of users would never have noticed. All electronics have issues and won't be perfect. For those of you expecting everything that you buy to be perfect, I suggest you wake up and smell the coffee. It's not gonna happen. Go ahead a do a Google search. Every major phone release, from iPhones to Droids to WinMos to WebOSes, have all had issues. No amount of belly-aching from anyone is going fix it. It's just the nature of manufacturing.

Oh good god please don't bring up that phone!
the cap thing does suck but bottom line is this is the best phone i have ever had.. having a fps cap isnt enough to get me to return my phone, i was happy with my phone before i heard of the cap so im not going to change how i feel about it now.. when i read all of the comments about ppl returning their phone because of the cap i honestly think they are returning it for other reasons and just using the cap as an excuse cause honestly i cant think of a better phone that sprint has at the moment... i read someone was claiming to boycott htc is they didnt fix that cap, that comment made me laugh!

Awesome, since you already know what any ****ing user will think, they won't have to bother themselves with deciding on a phone. They can just let you tell them what they will like.
Go buy an iPhone if you think it's so much better.

Thanks for links....I guess my point was that WiFi works. People are complaining, but for most, WiFi works just fine. I use mine all over my house and my router is in my basement. I even get a connection outside my house. My signal bars don't show me a thing but it's still connected and fast. Some may have WiFi issues but they aren't Toyota recall type issues.
So I normally don't post here but I need your opinion. Shortly after flashing the new Fresh 3.2 I noticed my camera behaving funny. I would look like an old tube tv with a VCR attached to it and you had to adjust the V-sync. well after exiting and opening the app it would look ok. Now it wont even do that. I have tried a few different ROMs and Kernels with no difference. Has anyone had this problem? if so any workaround? I hate to have to have my phone replaced with a refurb unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Why does everyone assume they are going to get a refurb? Most people dont because they haven't started repairing evo's yet.
Oh yeah, but your cam is f'ed lol. sorry duder.

Really?! The Evo's been out since the beginning of June. Many people have swapped theirs out for one reason or another. Do you think all of the returned Evo's are just sitting in a holding area, waiting for a particular time when HTC or Sprint says, "Okay, NOW we can start repairing these and send them out as refurbished units!"
Nevermind the fact that there are some people on this very forum who've stated that they've recieved refurbished Evo's.
Thanks for the replies. Now I need to un-root and take it by the friendly Sprint store.
Update: Now it's working well, IDK I may just un-root because if ti happens again I'm definitely getting it replaced.
I returned my Diamond for a refurb last year and never had a problem with it, seemed brand new. The chick at the sprint store said all they reuse is the board. Don't know how it is with the Evo but would assume it's similar.
I have twice now had my phone send text messages it said were going to one person to a completely different person. This wasnt like me clicking on the wrong thread in the Messages app. This was opening up a new message and replying to it, whereupon as soon as i pressed send the whole screen loaded a different thread where the reply i thought i had just sent to the original person had gone to this other random one.
This is stock deodexed 2.2.
Yes I have had this happen many many times. It is very annoying and I have learned to double check and check again where my message is going. Not good when they go to the wrong places. I am on Damage 3.5
James
I haven't had that happen to me yet but I do have a similar issue. When I open up a thread it opens another one that wasn't even next to the intended thread.

No bit my brother had that happen few days ago with his incredible.. I had trouble with receiving texts 15 later then when they sent the txt. Timestamp be earlier than when I got it. And sometimes the timestamp will say its from the future the next day lol. Asked a sprint Rep and he said its a HTC problem and will comeout with a fix. So far I'm good at receiving texts right away. Was bugging me out and gf would txt and say well must be busy all the time..

This has happened to me a lot, and I've had 3 different evo's due to other issues, so its definetly not hardware related. Mine will do the same thing, I will click on somebody's thread, type the message, hit send, then when it goes back to the main screen, I see it sent to someone else.
Let's just say I have sent some things that I THOUGHT was going to my girlfriend, but instead went to my boss. That made for an awkward conversation the next day.
thought I was going crazy. happened to me once when I was either cm6, or fresh, cant remember.
But I replied to recently received message, and it went to a completely different person. The problem was it was something private, that I didn't want the dude even knowing -.-
happens to me too. and the"tapped one thread and another thread opens " bug.
Ive always tried to handle personal things with calls, this is a good example of why.

THREAD JACK: I thought the title of this thread said "bizarre occupational problem with massages - anybody else?" I was totally intrigued until I read the posts.

I've never had it with Handcent *hint hint!*
I had this happen earlier to me but I just figured I made a mistake, I'll have to watch out for it from now on. It also started giving me an error saying Radio Interface Resource Shortage but when I tried to call someone it did something that cleared it up.
This just started happening to me recently too. Seems to happen most when trying to do to much too fast. For example, type a message, hit send. Then hit back before the message sends and trying to open a new one real quick. It pretty much happens like clockwork.
This is with handcent on cm6. All in all its a minor inconvenience.
This happens to me at least once per week. As a former BlackBerry Tour owner, I was already used to this sort of bug!
Recently, I added my buddy to my family account and had his evo set up just like he said he saw mine as. During the course of about an hour or two of rooting, flashing, and downloading; I started getting the same text message he sent me from the parking lot to ask what I needed from Wendy's, and so far I've received it 38 times TODAY.
I thought this was his doing because of some odd setting I must have set, or a wrong sequence of flashing... perhaps forgetting to wipe a cache at a particular time?
The problem is, I also got a text from my girlfriend, and although not as bad, I've been getting the same one about a dozen times. She's on USCC.
Has anyone else been experiencing this? I've become paranoid to the point to where I've flashed cm7, and wiped all data without a restore, but I still get the same problem. Anything I could do?
Thank you in advance for your time, all feedback is appreciated.

Oh wow! I actually do have an airave, but although the bulk of this was happening at home, I was still receiving some of these duplicates in the car.

Had the same issue. The problem starts with the airave. Unplug it, then call sprint, tier two support. They flush something and it goes away.
I've have mine unplugged now, since it was the root of the problem. I would rather roam then go thru sms hell again.

I received about 50 from my dad the other day. I ahd no idea it was the airave because I received a couple more at work the next day... thanks
experienced repeated sms messages last night at home as well. unplugged the airave and the issue stopped... i also got flooded with what seemed to be backed up sms messages as well.
same problem and have the airave.
lol luckily i have never been the recipient of this, but i sure feel sorry for my friends... haha. Happened quite a few times.
its not the air rave, i have it but i received my duplicated txt's when i wasn't near it. try 30 something miles away from it.
i called in and im waiting on an engineer to call me back in an hour
AHA! Same thing happened to me last night. My dad kept sending me "Yanks and Sox are playing on channel 1127." I called him up bragging that there was something wrong with his recently purchased iPhone 4. Turns out it was me.
I had the same thing happen when i was with verizon unfortunately, seems sprint isn't the only one.
im done trying to help people that are ungrateful and trolls. thank you for the kind words in this thread, i am not closing it because of you.
Agreed
I definitely agree with your statements. The only thing is my signal bounces around even while on an Airave or Airavana. I verified it was not the Airavana or airave because my wifes Evo always has a consistent signal.

And to the OP: I'm sorry you're having issues. I'm not experiencing any of those issues.
Well said. I'm new to the whole Android experience,
but am no stranger to expecting quality out of my investments. I'll continue to try to help the cause with you, seeing as how I'm going to have to get along with this phone for the next two years, being a college student and all. I'm with you a 100%. I tried to ingore the reception issues and put my faith in a ota. But the fact is my 30 day clock is coming ahead. I'm thinking about exchanging to motorola xoom tablet and call it a day. I love my nexus s 4g, it a phone I can keep for a 12 months or more and that's rare for me.
I'm calling sprint soon for a exchange my 1st.

I'm gonna tweet this to google nexus.
update: just tweeted the vid to google and told em that I'm gonna take it back if nothing is addressed before my 30 days are up. even if it's samsung/sprint's issue, its still google's product and i know google can sway BOTH companies if they wanted to. I REALLY REALLY don't wanna jump to the EVO 3D!!!
great video man. I'm glad that someone is deciding to step up about this. I purchased the phone just this evening and I'm already noticing that the radio is a little iffy. Not to mention I haven't been able to send a single text message since the damn thing was activated! (i'm hoping that that is a seperate issue that will be resolved with time)
WE CANNOT KEEP QUIET ABOUT THIS
I'm going to post this video on nexus s facebook and google also
Fixxxer, I've seen you on the forums being outspoken about this issue and I'm with you 100%. My wifi and 3g signals are atrocious. Constantly losing signals or very weak signals comparable to EDGE speeds.
Google has dropped the ball on this in my opinion. It is Google's phone and their name and reputation stands behind it and for them to not offer some sort of official statement acknowledging the widespread issue people are having (and no, not some random Google employee on their forum saying it is being looked into) is a disservice to the customers that support them.
One thing I cannot fault is people being brand loyal to Apple and their iPhone because they get 1st class service and immediate official responses while Nexus adopters have no clue who to contact for answers. Sprint and Samsung are clueless and only advice is to return it for an exchange or send you an airave.
Google, it is your phone. Do something about it!
thanks for the kind words guys. it's a shame there are still a few out there that seem to want us to just keep quiet about this. maybe they are afraid it will ruin the rep of the nexus s? look what the evo3d users got after being very vocal to htc.
as ive said before they have made no public announcements of a fix, anything you read on a forum about a fix unless from a credible source is BS.
It makes me sad you guys are having issues with this awesome phone.
I really hope it can be fixed. What I don't understand is that my GSM Nexus S seems to have an amazing antenna, and gets service where other T-Mobile phones don't.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
i got a response back from samsung about my youtube video... they claim they are unaware of the issue and that they want me to send them my phone for testing. samsung is totally clueless to our problems people. we need to push harder here.
i guess we just don't have the fanbase the evo line has. i give htc props for responding to the mass yesterday. at least they will get what they demanded.
well i was hoping my video would make a dent but it's not so far. the sprint forums has pretty much died off to a stand still right now. im not sure what else i can do for us? maybe it's just time to throw in the towel and exchange for another phone.

I think it is Google you need to be communicating with about it, since it is a Nexus phone.
Google did mention they were going to do some testing:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=72cde4a29b9021c3&hl=en
I don't think there is going to be a quick fix, it is going to take time for a software update to roll out.

But it is a Google supported phone, yes it seems to have something to do with the radios but it could very well be with how the Android OS is interacting with them. It would make sense to start with Google and then Google do their testing and go to Samsung if needed.
