No matter what WMO ROM I am running or no matter what Android platform I try to run Android will not boot a 2nd time. on the Linux bootscreen it says:
"Failed
Failed to find rootfs on SD card. You need to unzip a rootfs/bin/sh: Can't access tty; Job control turned off"
What do I need to do?!?!
Please help me...
2nd boot problem fix
DelTree ( "\Storage Card\.android_secure" )
DelTree ( "\Storage Card\Android" )
DelTree ( "\Storage Card\LOST.DIR" )
Stick these in a mortscript or just delete the 3 folder before starting android.
I added them to ThaDeanesta Android shortcut app for ease of use.

Hi Bro,
Im running android on my HD 2
Energy rom (rom version 6 aug 2010)
Radio 2.10.50.28_2
Android rom (mattleo 1.7 / froyostone 2.2 both rom will give the same problem)
I keep getting problem when rebooting back android on my HD2 (2nd or third time). normally the first time i boot android its quite slow (its normal). the second time its faster. but when this problem came it take very long to boot back to android. Below is the message appear
"failed to find rootfs on SD card. You need to unzip rootfs zip file to the root of your SD card. (i didnt delete any rootfs file from ny sd card????)
/bin/sh:cant access tty; job control turned off"
this problem is random...normally the 3rd or fourth time i boot android or sometimes the 2nd time i boot. when the message above appear, it will take way to looooonnnng to boot back to android.
any thing that i miss bcos i follow all the direction on installing android on HD2. first time boot all working, 3g, wifi, no robo voice, marketplace, internet access all working superbly...
sorry my english not that good, im from the longhouse of borneo island..
Do you have the files stored in the root of your sd card or in "Android" folder? I would put everything in the "Android" folder; it just keeps things more organised. You may need to edit your startup.txt file to point to where your installation is.
dammit.....i put it on root...
sorry for my mistake n ignorance not reading the readme file...
thanks n will let you know if its solve the problem.
OK FELLAS,
i'm not a noob. been flashing for a while now and am pretty much tech savvy, but this one has me for a loop. recently, my phone just started doing this; i can install and launch any and all android builds so readily available here from the XDA chefs. EVEN the DARKSTONE DESIRE HD BETA 2 worked and i played with it for an hour or so. HERE IS THE PROBLEM; i used to in the beginning be able to boot android over and over and over with my android launcher icon thats built into the current energy rom im using. (24631 04 sep) however now after a reboot, I run into a brick wall with the prompt that reads "cant find rootfs. you need to unzip a rootfs file to your memory card. job control turned off"
here are the things i have tried to remedy this:
1. format card= didnt fix
2. try a different card= i have 3 different cards; this didnt fix it either.
Only thing i havent tried which i am reluctant to try is task 29 and reload the WINMO ROM.
ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE EXPERIENCING THIS AND IF SO, HOW DID YOU FIX IT?

What Rom radio you using?
Are you using an auto boot or multiboot
Are you renaming the folder to Android and putting that folder on root? And dies your startup file read rel_path=android
If all correct
Seems like task29
And new Rom radio is the answer

ALSO AN UPDATE; REFLASHED 24631 UPDATED DATE,TIME,QUICK GPS, AND THEN GET THIS; IT BOOTED DESIRE HD ROM SUPER QUICK BUT OTHER BUILD IM USING Core_Droid_V.0.2 STILL DIDNT WORK. IM GONNA TRY DROPPING ANOTHER ROOTFS.IMG ON THE CARD AND TRY AGAIN.
I had a similar problem, the problem was that I had unzipped the contents of the "android" folder to the root of my SDcard. What I should have done was copy the folder to the root of the SDcard, after I did this it worked perfectly
I have the same problem here, but not only with the DARKSTONE DESIRE HD BETA 2 ROM. A lot Android ROMs boots great the first time, but after a phone reboot I was unable to boot the Android ROM again.
It shows me these message: "cant find rootfs. you need to unzip a rootfs file to your memory card. job control turned off" or the boot loader freezed completely with some stripes on the screen. any ideas?
RAIDO: 2.08.50.05
ROM: Artemis 30.0 GER (5.2.23576)
Update:
Got a solution from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788764
Just extract your DARKSTONE DESIRE HD BETA 2 ROM into "/Storage Card/Android" and boot it. done!
All you have to do is delete the android folder everytime you boot up android. I was running into the same thing after the initial setup worked good but wouldn't boot back after I went back to windows.

Wow. If I understand you correctly, this has been SOOOOO covered in this forum.
The HD2 does not BOOT to Android unless you have set up a special program that STILL loads Windows Mobile first and then boots to Android.
You always have to run CLRCAD and HARET from your Android folder on your SD card, EVERYTIME you reboot. There are programs that automate this if you do a SEARCH.
J
Thanks for your response
I always do the same, and similarly, that is the way you have mentioned!
But it only works once after turning off or renice do the same and already works if you delete and re-paste it all makes work on sd!
U have several android builds ................ duh................... each folder is on the root of your SD card so Windows doesn't know which build to load since each build has an Android name on it. Rename each folder and its startup text to match it.
If its not that then I'm not sure what your talking about.
I think its your radio version, your using 2.14.xxxxx but you should only use up to 2.12.xxxxx see the following thread.

I have been reading this site everyday in about a month now - and probably every guide and How to:s.. But I still don`t get it..
I have a HTC HD2 (bought in Norway). I have ROM version 3.14 .. and Radio
ver. 2.15.50..
My question is: I cant find any guide that support this OS version and I have tried downgrade it, but I still cant get the same version on my HTC as in the guides.
I have also problem to find an android that suits my phone. I really want to try android, but I dont understand how to.. and what to choose.
I m sorry for my english skills and if I have missed a thread that is explaining my problem.
Can somebody explain how to do this in an easy way for me?
Best regards Lisa
Lisa
As you have the right radio version all you need to do is download any SD or RAM version of Android
See following post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881958
You need to continue from STEP B (Installing Android)

Thank you very much for answering me
I have downlaoded Android Loader v6.0 Final for HD2 and put it in the device memory. (like copy / past - the file is still unpacked)
Should I unpack this file before downloading a SD version of Android?
I have seen many screenshoots of different androids, is it possible to tell me what to choose? I just want one that works, and if possible norwegian language.
Best regards Lisa

If you want to run Windows Mobile and have Android load from within Windows Mobile (so you can reboot back into Window Mobile if needed) then first you want to download an Android Build and extract it to your storage card. *THIS* build is very stable and fast and its the one I used before switching to Android on NAND. Extract the contents of the download file to your pc and then copy the 'Android' folder to the ROOT of your storage card so you will have a folder in the top level of your storage card called 'Android'.
Then run the Android loader v6 app and follow the install instructions. When asked for the folder you want to select \Storage Card\Android (or whatever Storage Card is called in your Roms language.
After you have gone through that you will have a link in your start menu that you can click on to start Android running. It may take a few minutes longer the first time its run but after that its alot quicker. The first time you run Android though you want to shut it down, reboot into Windows Mobile and run the android link again. This is needed to make it work properly.
However if you want to install Android to NAND (internal memory) so that it boots straight into Android and gets rid of Windows Mobile altogether then just click on the guide in my sig and follow the instructions there.
Mark.

With SD Android, there is no way to boot straight into Android. For that you need NAND. You can, however get pretty close by using an automatic build loader (search in the forums for exceller bootloader/build loader or something like that) which will automate the process of running CLRCAD/HaReT and allow you to choose whether to boot Android or WinMo. You can set it to load Android after 3 seconds having booted into WinMo.
However, I would recommend using NAND Android if you are willing to do some research and have some free time.
thanks a lot and sorry for the late thanks
I am a newbie to HTC world but not to android as I have good experince in SGS I and II
I will install a nand version on the HD2 very soon and update you since we don't want to use windows anymore
ive got a android sd build on my phone and it boots straight into my android rom . i havent used winmo to boot into android for a long time now and i dont have nand,
