HELP, cant use keypad while on call - HD2 General

The problem is very isolated because when i answer or make a call the touch screen then becomes useless....i can't hold, turn on the speaker phone, switch calls, or x out off the phone tab. There have been some moments when it would work but if i tried another call it would stop working again. if someone could help me fix this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

turn off the 'increased tap time' tweak in BSBtweaks. (or uninstall the 'tap time' cab if you did it as a standalone tweak.)

why don't you just change the setting in Advanced Config so that whenever the screen is switched off, the phone automatically locks?
Search.
For example great sensorlock

You may try this one:

This software works very good and only disable the touch screen when there is call so that the call will not accidentally missed. Just what phone lock works. By the way, HTC dialer will automatically disable the built in phone lock when there comes a new call.

[Fix] Disable Wireless Networks Detected Notification

Just extract the nowifinotif.exe file and copy to \Windows\StartUp on your device and perform a soft reset.
It works on my HTC Touch Pro, I'm assuming it will work for any HTC device or possible any WM6 device.
Let me how how it works, and what device your using.
Disabling the notification will work on my device, however after each soft reset they are back. This will fix that issue
This is a standard setting...unless you are trying to do something different.
Settings->Sounds/Notifications
Wireless networks in the dropdown.
Uncheck all of the notifications.
yes, i know it's a setting under notifications.
this is for all the people like myself where that setting doesn't hold. when i soft-reset my device the notifications would come back and i would have to disable it every time. I have bumped into many posts about it with no fix. this is that fix.
Gotcha, that's cool. I've never seen it not stick but that would be a crappy problem.
Nice work on the fix.

Wow for song long i have been annoyed about the wifi popup notification, i knew about the setting but assumed it did nothing, not that it worked but didnt stay
Your app works spot on, is there anyway to still have the sound alert enabled (sonar or something), but just disable the onscreen notification?
Sure
Sure here you go, it assumes you have the file \Windows\Alert-Sonar.wma
and plays that sound when a network is detected. If you don't have that file just rename or create one with that name and put it in your windows directory.
If you are still paying attention to this thread, I would appreciate advice
Hi,
I have a new HTC 6800.
I would LOVE for the file posted as the solution to work for me as I have the same problem with popping up notifications.
However when I installed the file and did a soft reset I get this message:
The program is from an unknown publisher, running it can possibly harm your device do you want to continue?
When I click "yes" I then get this message:
Unable to run the file nowifinotif the certificate is invalid
Ugh. Is there anything that I can do to get the file to run?
thanks!
Oh snap - another solution just found
OK,
Nevermind my last question - another solution was just found.
This model has a side button to turn on/off the wi-fi - who knew! Well, mobiletechreview.com, thankfully!
"don’t fret: slide the Wi-Fi slider on the left side of the Mogul to turn Wi-Fi on. "
So, I'll just turn the Wi-Fi off unless I actually want to use it, which eliminates the constant notifications. Whew.

Hi Chet,
Thank you for your solution! How does it work?
Also, any idea what causes the issue in the first place?
Thank you,
Jeff
Good idea, I've read a number of posts about this, but have assumed it was a GSM phone problem. Could anyone confirm what phones have the problem and which don't?

I don't know exactly but I've been using it myself for a while with no problems. I'm guessing it writes changes to the registry keys that control wifi notifications.
The problem is likely to be that some process is writing some other changes on each soft reset. That's my guess anyway.
How it works
Yes your correct, I don't know why it happens only what's happening and how to fix it.
When you disable the notifications under settings on your device it changes the following values under the following registry key.
HKEY_CURRENTUSER\ControlPanel\Notifications\<"SOME GUID"> with the ".DEFAULT" value = to "Wireless network detected".
after you soft reset your device this registry setting gets reset for some reason.
The other values under this key are:
"Options", "AvailableOptions", and "Wave".
Options is what kind of notification is currently assigned (none, sound, popup, ect)
AvailableOption is your choices of what you could pick from
And wave is what sound will play if enabled.
My program just sets this value back at startup. I can post the source code if anybody actually wants it, but yeah I have no idea why it's happening.
Thank you, Chet. That helps me understand a little more.
no problem
Works for me
Chet,
Thanks, works for me. Small problem, but very annoying.
I've found a few other boards with this question, and I've pointed them here.
http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&message.id=114943&jump=true
Yeah it's an anooying bug. As a workaround I just made a .WAV file with no sound (just 1 second of silence) and assigned that one to the WLAN detecten notification. Works also
What About Other Notifications
Chet,
That was great. But I've noticed almost the same thing happens for "new email" and for "Reminders".
For both of those, I have "display message on screen" unchecked, but the phone still displays the message onscreen. However, in this case, the boxes remain unchecked after reboots.
Have you noticed that HTC's TF3D interface displays a callout box (cartoon quote) for the on screen reminders in the header, so that if I get new email and a calendar appointment, or some other reminder like an SMS or missed call, I get a "callout" box shaped notification at the top of my screen. Now, I get curious as to what the message is, so I click it. TF3D then opens their "easy icon view" screen, on which a bigger callout box is one of the buttons. I click that, and the standard MSFT tiny icons appear at the top of the screen again for "new email" and some other useless reminder like "Mtg at Johns". I need to click these tiny reminders, one at a time, then view the display message on screen, then click the soft "dismiss" button. Is this an easy way of handling reminders that I didn't want in the first place. @#$# HTC and MSFT!!
Any ideas?
This sounds great! I have a Fuze (with TAEL ROM) and this has been annoying me for a while. I suspect most people don't see it because they have wifi turned off most of the time. In my case, it's always on as I don't have a data plan

[APP] GSuspend - suspend device by facedown.

Hello!
GSuspend simple tool which put device to suspend (standby) mode when HTC Diamand is facedown.
To unload start it again.
To install , just extract folder to Program Files, and copy .lnk to Windows\Start Menu\Programs.
After new ROM has issued, GSEN stop worked stabily, and i started to search my favourity ability of gsen - facedown suspend. But i can't find replacement of GSEN in this ability.
Finally fight win my desire against my laziness and done this application.
In the base of this app was SensorLock thanks surfsmurf.
I hope somebody also find it usefull.
Thanks
P.S. Improved power management.
Still looking sample to catch event of incoming call, if somebody can share C++
Tnx, I'll try it right now!
[EDIT] Works perfect! Very small and light application btw.
One thing I noticed; my phone is not locked with PocketShield after turning back on.
Thanks

Thank you for what must've cost you time & valued effort.
Is it possible for you to modify this in a way that it would automatically Silence the device when facedown, and back to normal volume settings on all other positions? I find it VERY useful to have that -instead of having to turn it face up & down everytime a call comes in". Everybody else apparently misses the point that a phone vibrating on wooden desks is just as terribley impolite as having it spitting jams left & right.
Do consider it...
changeScreen has a feature built into it that can suspend the phone when it's flipped face down

thats exactly what I want
but I think "upside down" or "Portrait 180" is more reliable for this job
and a small vibrate in the hand to confirm the suspend is good too
1KB MEM . . . thats awesome
thanks,
Sorry , i noticed battery drain, will work on that , sorry
is this app only turn off scren on face down or it is suspend device, because changescreen only tunr off screen??
"upside down" or "Portrait 180" excellent idea
but i dont need vibrate(i hate it)
I'm a little confused now . I'm reading about an app that turns the device on silent when faced down. This is what I'm looking for, so I can easily mute during a meeting. Vibrate on 'siwtch' is also perfectly. But my confusion is: which app do I need (or doe'sn't it exist for now )

If you receive a call during a meeting, the function to turn your phone face-down to mute the call is already build in. (maybe you have to activate it using Advanced Configuration)
GSuspend it a tool to put your device in standby on face-down.

TouchLockPro can do the same (configurable), is also small and is at the same time a lock/unlock program. Beside the GSensor, it also can couple commands to capacitive swipes, e.g. to suspend the device.

The 'turn-to-mute' function is working oké, but what I'm looking for is an app that turns my device on 'silent' when my device ís faceddown and 'normal' faced-up. So when I'm in a meeting I don't have to switch profile or flip my phone

Right on, +1 here. In meetings, if you're unprepared, you'd have to flip over & over & over, etc..., everytime you get a call. It gets irritating until you actually start pushing buttons and adjusting it manually...
If you have that meeting scheduled in your calendar, you could try G-Profile for example.
Based on your calendar, G-Profile can adjust your notification settings.

Go to the settings tab, Menu, All Settings, Lock and go to the Display tab. Make sure you've got Windows Default selected, not Windows Classic. Click OK and it'll ask you to restard. You should now have the lockscreen you want back.
Hope this helps
Edit:
Sorry - I just noticed your device isn't in English. I hope you can translate my instruction on your device okay.
Sorry, I guess "Standard Windows" is Swedish for "Default Windows" so i have already tryed that.
I have also tryed it with HTC sense off but still no change.

I reckon that would do it, yeah, but it seems overkill doesn't it. I'd hang fire for now and see if anyone on here comes up with a better solution. At least the phone is locking! It could be worse.

when i sekect lock from all settings, theres only setting password and hint. nothing else. my lockscreen wont automatic lock wen my screen is off.
I found that after a soft reset my Lock screen would not appear after the phone had gone to sleep (or I'd turned the screen off manually).
I solve it by .......
After a soft re-set or having turned the phone off;
go to Start
press 'Lock' at the bottom left of the screen
The lock screen now appears and then acts normally - until the next soft reset when I simply repeat the above
Nop!
Allready tryed that, still the grey lockscreen...

Lost Screen lock
Here is the one simple solution that works for me:
When I installed some cab. files I have lost the screen lock.
Longpress the end/power button. this will bring out options to power off, Lock device, set vibrate...
Simply press "Lock device".
Now you have a screen lock that keeps working.
Well I've tryed that but It will still use that grey thing...
//Johan
Some people don't really read that well, do they?
argh
i have to always manually set the lock device. it wont automatically do it.
i recently installed pocketshield and that messed it up so i dont think everyone deleted properly?
should i use SKTools or a software to delete unused registries? or is it cab files?
YEEEES!
I figured somehow the default windows lockscreen file must have got corrupted...?
So I installed this cab:

As a last attempt before a hard reset. And thank god it did the trick!

still didnt work. just still acting the same.
i have the same problem after i have installed puremind's 1cab4all_20shcutsv1.3No.Net3.5.
i tried the above suggestion but didnt work, i have to put the lock device to make it work, but i dont want to enter the password everytime to go to homescreen.
Anyone have the same problem?
1. This happens a few times on my HD2, make sure you have BSB Tweak installed. There is an AutoLock switch on there. Make sure that is set to On (which it will be default).
2. Then on the odd occasion when the device does not lock, hold the power button to get the Quick List and click Lock Device, now it will be ok - till the next time it happens (mine usually after a few days in which case repeat step 2).

If you by any chance enabled the "increase tap time" with BsB tweaks, then you have to disable it.
This is anyway covered a lot in the forums
