Using my X10 in China - a kind question to SE chinese users! :) - XPERIA X10 General

Hello,
I write from Italy but in a few days I will move to China (Shanghai) for an entire year.
I know that from China is not possible to access to Facebook. I also know that Xperia X10 is currently sold in China, too. But... how does it happen to Facebook updates in TimeScape and all the other syncronizations with this social network if it is not available?
If I use my X10, what should I expect / notice?
Thanks a lot to who will reply

use vpn

facebook, twitter and toutube are not allow to access in China. you can easily use vpn for access though.

Hi,
thanks to both for the kind reply!
How can I use VPN with my X10? I don't know any detail about it!

it's very easy to buy vpn access in local market. can you speak or read Chinese?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

Ehm nope I just can read, write and understand a few about Chinese. At the moment, I have only attended a two-months basic course!

there is a very popular online shop called taobao(www.taobao.com) in China. a lot of vpn providers sell their product there. you could ask your friends in China to help you buy it. the cost is about RMB 20-30/month with unlimited usage. then what you need to do is to follow the guidance the seller instructs.

Thank you, I will take care of your suggestion!

try vpn98 I'm now using it

Hello,
can anyone suggest me a VPN service wich offer an english-written webpage and works for China?
I need a connection able to work both from PC and from my X10 Android smartphone...
Thank you!!

A lot of free VPN cant not work in China, maybe u should try paid VPN, sometimes the chinese authority will block the VPN, another option is use the browser with proxy for facebook and twiter,if you dont need to use the it in timescape...in the local selling X10 (i mean the customized version for china) the youtube, facebook is deleted and replaced by youku, sina, and kaixin...

Lolz, but really in my opinion.
China can make any phone 10 times better, but they might get sued for it.
And if this is true I am buying one from China.
I saw those news too.
And that was confirmed by other people that no mt is provided and the phone can not be rooted and there exists no difference on the internal apps.
It seems that this update is only for restricting us from rooting

Guys.....relax....it is real.
I read way back that Miyowa would be the official maker of WLM. If you go and google that company, you will see that they are the official WLM for WP7 as well and not MS.
This was quoted last year when WP7 OS was released:
"Here at Miyowa, we’ve had the pleasure of being able to play around on it (WP7 –ed.) for the past few months, as Microsoft have enlisted Miyowa to create the Windows Live Messenger app for the new OS.
We’ve long been partners with Microsoft, and are their number 1 mobile Windows Live Messenger provider. In fact, it is the success of our mobile WLM app that long ago helped us grow from a company with a couple of people working away in a tiny office, to the multi-national we are today."
Seems like they are also the official Android OS makers as well now too (unlike it's iOS counterpart which is made by MS).
Windows Live Messenger is NOT YET AVAILABLE! That other app is a STRANGE app! It cannot be official since it doesn't support some hotmail.com registered e-mailadresses!

Question about Android Market on the Arc

When I was using my GS 2 for a bit I installed the official Amazon shopping app. When I moved back to the Arc I could find no sign of it and I cannot think why it isn't available for the Arc. It made me wonder how many other apps do not appear for the Arc for some reason?
Both handsets are UK versions and both are running 2.3.3 so is this something to do with SE having their own channel in the market?
I'm having the same problem with my Xperia arc,
Some say the problem is from Google side, and the reason is to re-arrange the Market again

I can't get a lot of official Google apps, like latest version of Maps. I'm new to Android so I have no idea whether it's a regional thing (Israel) or whether it depends on the device.

Some of the limits are indeed a legional thing, but I think some of it is limited by your service provider for a specific device...

The limitation isn't by your service provider it's by regions
Because Google has create a separate market content for each region

A discussion about the root tool the original poster posted a link for has been going on in this forum since 12 Sep 2013. Read thread titled [ROOT] SGP312 FTF 10.3.1.C.0.136 Root (No need OTA). Several people have said they successfully gained root access using the tool. Also read threads titled Root for SGP311/10.3.1.C.0.136? beginning at post 14, and [ROOT][SHARE] VRoot 1.6.0.3690 - 1-Click Root Method - Lenovo A706, Walkman F800 etc.
I have bot used this tool. Just wanted to day that on my other tablet (a china retina tab) i allways use a chinese tool with great success.

Governments, corporations, cable companies, Google, Twitter, XDA forums and me are all engaged in the active/passive collection of your data as it passes through our systems.
Privacy advocates missed their boat 20 years ago. We can try and hide, by using SSL, VPNs and encrypting everything. But in the end, we will fail because individuals just cannot compete with the determined application of unlimited resources brought to bare against us by those who have those intentions and resources.
Be it hiding from a country, a company or an individual, if you want to stay safe, take the battery out of your devices, unplug, disconnect and stay away from all networked infrastructure - telephones, easypass, credit cards, passports, store loyalty cards...

How does being suspicious about a root exploit that popped up on a Chinese site overnight make me blame Chinese hackers for all my problems as normal? I don't blame the Chinese for anything, I would be suspicious of this no matter where it popped up if they went about releasing it the same way. It is always good to be suspicious about root exploits and to look into it instead of just going with it.
You need to take a chill pill and understand that not everyone is badmouthing people all the time, when they posted a warning to ,make people think before they just went with a root exploit and to double check that nothing malicious is being injected along with it.
