If I turn off data traffic with APNDroid (which I suppose just edits phone settings), will account sync with Gmail and Facebook override it if I'm not connected to wifi or does APNDroid completely disable all access to data traffic (edge, 3g, hspda).
For those wondering I use APNDroid and APN On/off widget from market.
No. When facebook or Gail try to sync it will pop up a notification that the program cannot connect and asking for connection.

I am using SBP GPRS monitor and it is reporting that every hour or so 13-60kb of data is being transfered. I have checked all my apps, including weather, email and RSS and I can't find any of them that are set to auto download. Nothing else is running. Is there any way to check exactly what program is using the GPRS? Is there any way to stop GPRS from connecting without my approval?
The way I have made it so it does not auto connect is to NOT tick the "remember password" box in the GPRS settings. I use Orange and the username and password are blank, so to connect all I have to do is click on the connect button when it askes for my username and password.
Soooo i have been playing with my HD2 too much and now my mobile internet usage is close to my monthly limit.
I switched off weather, facebook & microsoft exchange active sync and switched off data services to Off in wireless controls under settings. But somehow the phone is still initializing data connection and have data coming in/out.
Is there anyway to turn off data services completely??
There is an answer for this one (one of the possible ways) on HTC official suport page under FAQ. Sorry but i can't post an external link due to spam prevention.
Kill one letter from your providers accessname. Like vodafone.de = vodafone.d If you need the access later, add the letter again.

That will give you error messages all the time though.
Go:
Windows Key
Settings
Wireless Controls
Menu (at the bottom right)
Connections
Advanced (Tab)
Select Networks (Button)
Then change "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using:" to "My Work Network"
or try this one wich is working perfectly for me
go to Settings - Wireless Controls-[put 3G and Data Connection Off]
then open BsB Tweaks-Menu-Data Connection-Tick Disable in here
then restart the phone and you never use data again appart of you WiFi

The weather app seems only to update when I have a wifi connection. Is there a way to set it up that it also (or preferably) uses the mobile data connection?
Kind of same question for email. Under the advanced E-mail setup settings, I choose to use the mobile data connection. It was default set to "The internet", but this way, i only received mails when I had a wifi connection. Is there a way to set it up that is uses wifi, and if not available, the mobile data connection?

It sounds as though your mobile data settings are incorrect.
Hi,
I'm having a weird issue with the data connection.
When i turn it off, it will automatically turn itself on when any application that requires internet tries to connect.
I've read somewhere that the cause of this is an application that has auto-scheduling tries to connect (e.g. email, weather, ...). But this cant be, right?
Isn't the meaning of data connection "OFF" that no application what-so-ever has internet acces. Even when they sync automaticly...?
Have a look here.
Hope it helps.
download NoData u can turn off your data connection with that, or just modify the internet settings
The weather tab, stocks tab, facebook, twitter could be configured to download data periodically.
My advice is to remove these tabs and services. They're useless and a tremendous resource hog anyway.
Use the long-press end key to cut off data connection manually.
Install "Data Controller" app to disable and enable data connection whenever you want to. Disable it most of the time, during regular use. This will prevent any accidental or unwanted preconfigured access to internet. Enable it in special situations if you really need to use it. Disable it again after use.
Data Controller is easier to use than NoData. Although, both of them works fine.
Use this app to disable internet access only. Leave the mms access enabled. That way, you'll be able to receive mms anytime. Mms shuts itself down automatically after every use. So you don't have to disable this one.
Is there a way to switch data roaming on/off easily on the X2? Somehow I do not seem to find any options (it is very easy on Android phones through a dedicated menu setting in the preferences). Thanks for suggestions!
Normally if you set up ActiveSync properly and you uncheck in Schedule "use above settings when roaming" you ought to be safe. Maybe you should also check the Fast Gps settings to update satellite data manually only. This is about it when it comes to default apps. If you have installed other apps, rss readers, email clients or web browsers you should pay more attention to their connection habits.
Or you can try these apps:
No Data In Roaming: automatically restricts data traffic when roaming.

Data Controller : manually switch data connections.
