pls help.
how to hard reset the phone or get the helix launch back?

Might help if you told us which lock screen app it is. Try restarting?
Gary~

Do I understand it right you set a lock screen app. as your home screen??? not a smart move. Can you still access apps, than open the app and by most of the lock screen programs in settings you can undo this. I think there must be a " don't select" sign next to the lock app when you selected it as your default home screen.... That should have said enough....
Sent from my rooted x10i using tapatalk. Cheers, Arnold

Perhaps you could try booting in safe mode... Still testing it out. hold on
Gary~

Tuff one. I'd say just re-flash the phone. That's probably the only way you could get any response from phone coz' you'll be doing it while booting.

I have a feeling safe mode might be able to save you. However, I have not been able to boot MY phone in safe mode... You could try. There seems to be quite a few ways
1) Turn on phone and when you feel the vibrate press the volume down key
2) Turn on phone and when you feel the vibrate hold the menu (left) key until it boots completely
Tell me if you have any luck

Hi,
I know your phone is fixed now... Glad you managed
Other things to try in such situations:
- Install 'Folder Organizer' and have it add an entry to the notifications; then you can start apps from the notification menu. Open Android Market, see below for the rest.
- Wait for the Android Market to announce you that you've got some updates. Open the Android Market from the notification. Now you can install, and also launch apps. Install 'Home Switcher', and open that app. Select the home-app that you want to use and launch it
Oh, and once you have a way of getting into the Android Market, you can of course also un-install the app that caused the problem in the first place
Cheers,
--Tim

powering off the device

Does anyone know if there is a free application that provides an icon on the Today screen to power off the device instead of having to hold down the power off button on top next to the card slot? I have an icon on the Today screen to soft reset. One to power off would be great!

It is built into Faria's ROMs if you are using them (the little green thing in the icon bar).

I don't see how this would benefit you because you still need to hold down the button to turn the power back on. This sounds like a hardware issue.

true...but that's what i take my battery out for
and it is a hardware issue, i just dont know where to get it fixed
Oooh, I'm sorry you have to do all this! If the device is still under warranty, the mfg. should ffix it. By the way, I found a cab file from pda gold website called "power off", installed it to my device, and made the mistake of copying the file to windows/start-up in file explorer as a shortcut. Doing this stopped my device from starting so I had to do a hard reset. Since my device would not start, the only way I could hard reset (for those who had the same problem) was to press the comm manager button, the voice record button, and sticking the stylus in the reset hole at the same time (not an easy task), release the buttons and stylus, and then press the green arrow (send) button. This sends a message telling the mfg. to set the device back to factory settings. I got this info from tech support at Cingular.

I found psShutXP @ PDA GOLD.COM..but mine says SHUT DOWN instead of TURN OFF. My screen just turns black & I can still see everything thru the dark screen. I want something to completely turn the device off. Yes this is free software.

Yeah, thank you very much.
I really missed a working actionscreen on the TP2.
Due to the new Bluetooth driver the one for the Xperia wasn't working anymore.
You made me as happy as with your ROMs back then
sorry, but can you tell me what is it and what does it do?
(sorry for my english)
Have a look at the screenshot. It's an action screen that allows you to select certain actions like new SMS, appointment, task etc.
Works nice! Good to see my BT is working with this version.
Gonna make some changes myself:
- Left softkey to ActionScreen
- No conformation for soft reset
Attached the left softkey for who's interested.
Works fine!
Especially the one-click Wifi switch is very clever.
The only thing is the problem of hitting the powerbutton while typing in landscape mode.
It will launch this app while you're chatting, very annoying.

Hello,
This tips is good if you do not use the TF3D ... otherwise it is replaced by the one from the TF3D ...
Do you know where to modify it in the TF3D ?
Thanks.
Personally I am trying to avoid pushing any buttons, I'd rather have an option on the screen like a shortcut in the Start Menu or something.
Would that be possible?
Hello,
In the start menu, it is a shortcut. Not so difficult. After installing the cab above, you will go to "\Windows" folder and you search for "HTCActionScreen.exe" then you make a copy and after you go to the "Start Menu" folder and "Progams" folder and you make a "Paste shortcut".
And this is done.

I think that's the point, if he's anything like me, everytime I type in landscape mode, I accidentally end up holding the power button for 3 seconds with the side of my finger, I'm forever turning of the phone .
Nice app though, just going to put it on.
For those that don't want to confirm the Soft Reset action:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\ActionScreen\APP_10]
"Param"="/s"
Attatched the REG file for those that want to import the file to the registry.
Don't forget to make a soft reset afterwards
This is awesome! I would love to have this app. Is there any way to make the icons a bit more colorful? Thanks so much!
hi! congratulations GREAT app.
is there anyway to change the icon (add + contacts) to one (close screen) without suspend the device. it is very useful to who wants to ear music from the speaker phone. cause when you turn of the device the music stops.
tnx in advance
Excellent! Thanks for thinking about us poor TP2 users!
Very interesting appl.
Does someone test it with touch pro stock rom ?(I have the italian one).

Try the "reset and wifi" cab in this post...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584415
It creates 2 shortcuts in your start menu - 1 to toggle wifi on and off, and 1 to reset the device.
I've got both in my quick links, which is nice

Works well with my HD2.
Touch X Powerbutton actionscreen ver 1.2.cab by smaberg is an excellent application and well worth installing.
Install it to device memory and then soft reset. Now holding the right most button (screen on/off) for about 3 seconds will bring up an action screen where you can toggle many functions as well as soft resetting your device or turning it off.
Works perfectly on the HD2 and I would recommend it

Why not just turn it off and then on again, using the power button?
If your device is so frozen that you can't do that, you'll be unable to access any applications to do it either....surely? Or am I missing something here...

Just press one of the volume buttons on the left side and select "off" or "silent"
I realy dont see the meaning of a link button for a soft reset when you have the "long Power" press button. Its hardware and its responding even when the screen freezes (sometimes ). And overall this "reset links" cannot save you of case removal when the pda is "software dead".

Old thread, I know. Just resolved the same issue with TCPMP. Went almost to the factory reset. Accidentally fixed it by connecting to PC over USB. Immediately unfreezed and never occurred again since.

Home button long press

If I accidentally long press my home button it opens the Google App. Is there anyway to disable this? I can't find it.
I think if you go into Applications and clear the defaults for the Google App it will stop that. The next time you long press it will ask you what you want it to do as the default. I don't recall what the options are after that.
Thx it was in applications but, the tab default applications. Than "app device support" than you can choose for Google App, svoice, grenify or none. Thx for guiding me to the right direction.

Ok I've done that, however now when I press and hold the home button nothing happens....I've also reset the Svoice defaults ?
The strange thing is whilst I'm connected to my Bluetooth car kit if I hold down the talk button it asks what to set as default, once S Voice is set I then try the home button but still nothing ?
Bump
I've managed to get S-Voice back, in case anyone else has the same issue this is what you do....
Enable the Quick Dial option under Galaxy Labs,
{

}
this then enables S-Voice and then you should see it under the Device assistance app setting
This has took me several days off messing around ?

If your recents button is broken, how did you get to the recents screen shown in your attachment?
There's an app called HomeBot that will let you customize what a long press home button does, including showing Recents.

And 9 times out of 10, they Remove or "Hide" options and widgets that were Just Perfectly Fine where they Freakin were to begin with. It's getting really Outa Hand & Insane Lol.... Anyway's, So Sorry for the Rant, a little off topic... BUT YES, PLEASE Let us know if anyone has found a way to Revert or Change back to the way Google was before they HAD TO "FIX" IT ; ยค }
I loved it because I could long press Home & "Force" Copy /Paste Info from almost anywhere, Even Screen Shot Pics. Now, If this feature is still available and I'm just being a Moron, Which is very possible, can someone Chime in and Help a guy out Please!
*** And I know that there are 3rd Party Apps that will do the "Copy Anywhere" thang... It was just NICE & CONVENIENT having the option built right into Google..
THX & AS ALWAYS, XDA IS THE SH!TE!!

On my G3 there was an option called "Smart Screen" that kept the screen on while you were looking at it. I loved that option. I don't know why LG got rid of it. It was a separate app. I wonder if it would still work on V20

True. I don't use any lockscreen - so I always forget about that. If requiring you to not do anything to turn your screen on is important to you - then why would you even have a lockscreen setup?
