Screen Protector - EVO 4G General

Anyone know a good screen protector tha covers the whole face of the EVO, I've experience ones with the screen protector covers from the stop where the speakers are to the bottom of the off screen, it kinda ticked me off because it covered everything but the capacitive buttons

Oops wrong thread I thought I was on the accessory thread please move

I have a zagg which only exposes the top camera, speaker, and sensors. It has held up nicely for me.

I highly recommend the Phantom Skinz line of products. Their FULL BODY kit is amazing and I've since bought their product for all three phones in our family. They even have these chromatic skinz and the Carbon Fiber print is pretty smooth if you ask me.
I'm still a new user to this forum so I can't post links but if you google Phantom Skinz I'm sure you'll find 'em.

Ghost armor or xo skinz are good too.

Best screen protector

I'm going back into consruction so I need a new screen protector. What's the best one that doesn't hamper touch sensitivity and screen brilliance?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
The gorrilla glass it came with. I used to do the screen + body skins but as long as you keep one pocket just for the phone, it'd be pretty hard to scratch it. Been discussed multiple times...

Realook, available on Amazon. Takes scratches like a champ, is invisible, easy to clean and allows all touches to be equally sensitive as before install.

I ordered 2.. They are free with you just paying shipping and rival Zagg, and I think they are better. Try it out. You cannot lose with 2 for $5\
EDIT: Plus they are full body protectors.
have had the Zagg InvisibleShield from day one...
no warped colors and still keeps the same brightness as without....
+1 on the realook.
Its hard plastic not soft like the Zagg and most other screen protectors.

There's actually a thread about this already in the Accessories sub-forum.
But anyway, Ghost Armor is what I use, and compared to the Invisible Shield that's on my brother's Epic, mine is more slick (less plastic-like and less gooey) and overall a great looking screen protector. Plus the fingerprints are way easy to wipe off, which is what annoyed me with the plain Gorilla Glass, which by itself is already very scratch-resistant but prone to fingerprints.
i know theres already a thread... but
I like the realook 11 bucks for 2 of them... run a hot shower in bathroon, then go in there and clean screen then apply. Bearlt know its there and has a natural feel/look , ive had the same one on for over 6 months now and its still hanging in there.... getting a bit scratched now but not bad enough for me to pull it. I tried a zagg one and hated it. Gorilla glass does hold up great but sand will still scratch it... i have a micro scratch from a grain of sand that was in my pocket from river fishing in the summer...... that was my turning point to go and get a protector.
just my 2cents

Another one for realook...i usually hatescreen protectors but this one passes for me and doesn't detract from the feel if the screen much.

[Q] OMG FINGERPRINTS!!!!1111one

So I have been pretty much just living with the fingerprints on my Hero since there was no other method of input on it but now that I have the Shift, the fingerprints on the touchscreen are driving me crazy. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good screen protector that doesn't show prints?
I'm worried that my constant wiping of the screen will prematurely scratch it.
I use a zagg protector, its not bad. You will get fingerprints but I don't think they're that noticeable. Of course eating chips and touching the phone is probably always going to leave a fingerprint but otherwise I recommend zagg
Sent from your Mom's Jitterbug
I haven't tried it but I saw someone say they apply Rain-X to the screen periodically and makes wiping the prints off easy.

I use lens cleaning wipe on my anti glare screen protector periodically. Can't really see fingerprints. But the pores do happen to absorb oil..

i hate fingerprints too, i use the anti glare screen protector that comes in the 3 pack from sprint, 2 regular and 1 no glare and i love the no glare one, although it kinda washes out the screen its very worth the no fingerprints
I like the screen protector I got from Zagg. Little hard to get used to at first, cause it's kind of feels funny. But it seems to keep glare down, and definately no fingerprints.
If you do get the Zagg I wouldnt plan on having a case. Over time the case will lift up the corners of the shield and it will start peeling off.

I've used a Skinomi(skinomi.com) protector on both of my Shifts, and rarely notice fingerprints (it does smudge, but not badly). It does have a mild "orange peel" effect if you look at it from the side with the screen off, but it does not affect the direct viewing angle, and there is little discernible texture.
The nice thing is that they are guaranteed not to scratch, so I don't have to futz with it.

Yeah I also notice the no glare protector kinda dulls the screen. I took it off and it looked more vibrant. I ended up switching to a regular screen protector.

I use a silicon based liquid wax that has NO ABRASIVES . Apply it once a month, fingerprints wipe off easily and your finger slides across the screen easy.

Don't spend money on touchscreen gloves, just take your favorite pair of gloves and sew a couple loops of conductive thread (available in many places online) into the fingertips.

Xtremeguard vs Ghost Armor body protectors?

I was at the local mall and stopped by the ghost armor kiosk and a guy that worked there had a nexus 4 and I must say the protection seemed to be pretty good. They charge around $40 for full body protection installed (seems kind of expensive for screen protection). The question I had was how does Ghost Armor compare to Xtremeguard? I know Xtremeguard is much cheaper (wondering if that's for a reason).

I haven't had a chance to try out the Ghost Armor, but from a price point, it's hard to complain about the Xtremeguard protector...check out the review I did for some free information. Basically, the Xtremeguard is really good bang for buck price, but I know many people (including myself) aren't a big fan of the surface of the screen protector. The back for the N4 is pretty much no complaints. Only the front is a concern.

Can't comment on the other but I have xtremeguard and love it. Pros: I've reapplied this thing like 6 times. Once my cat knocked it off the table and the back side got dirty, took a paper towel and cleaned it up. Still sticks and holds very well. Feels as though it would protect the phone. Cons: peels often with both my poetic bumper as well as my mybat case. Also like the video commented, it's not glass, it's rubbery and therefore the screen have some orange peel effect.

I've the ghost armor, and it's almost perfect except for:
- High price
- A little bit difficult to apply. You have less than 3 seconds to align the protector, and the soap solution is not included on the pack.
You can hardly see that there's a protector, and the orange peel is less than expected.
I recommend it.

Ghost armor is great. Better than skinomi and you have more than 3 seconds to apply... I've tried almost all brands of protectors and for the n4, I'd go with the ghost armor.
Side note - skinomi rubber squeegee is better than the ghost armor one imo.
I ordered the Xtremeguard protectors since they were only $5 for four. I really like the factory screen protector, still using it with no issues at all. It's just the back protector started to bubble near the edge from when I took the bumper off. If the Xtreme guard doesn't work I'll try the Ghost Armor since it seems to be very good.

From my experience, I had absolutely no problems with the back from Xtremeguard so I don't expect you to have it either. As you may know, I'm using the Poetic Borderline, but didn't find problems with that combo. The front for me was a bit more of a hassle, especially with that minor orange peel. But let us know how it goes and if you do get the Ghost Armor later, definitely interested in testing that out if you do get it!
I just received my xtreme guard, 1 week from the USA to UK!

I use Xtremeguard its kind of rubbery and you lose some screen clarity due to this. But it can be easily re-applied if the need arises. also that self heal ability is quite good.

I'll let you know how it works. Is the orange peel created by how you put it on or is it just how the screen protector looks? The ghost armor protector I saw on the nexus 4 didn't have the orange peel look at all. I'm also using the poetic bumper and haven't had any issues with it yet but I've heard a lot of people mention issues they've had.

I have a ghost armor and can say it's worth it for the price you pay. Very minimal orange peel which you can not see unless you stare and look for it. Lifetime warranty too whenever you decide to change it. I've tried bse, XG, and SGP and while all are good I'm glad I pulled the trigger with ghost armor.

Yes, it was created by how I put it on. Basically I have the worst luck when it comes to this stuff. I tried filming the actual install but it was too hard and I ended up editing it. So I think if I had didn't film from the start, there wouldn't be too much (if at all) orange peel.
I did try to reapply the front again and it doesn't work well (my fault, not protector ) and the bumper definitely got in the way on the second time I applied it.

I got xtremeguard and I am quite pleased with it! I have bought Skinomi and Invisible Shield(since way back when) in the past and I feel that Xtremeguard is just as good. From memory, it is smoother and less orange peel looking. Not sure if it is dust/lint that snuck in during installation, but I have a group of white bubbles in some areas that are not fully adhered. Speaking of lint, it came with a yellow cloth that I knew not to use but it was on the screen when I applied and got between the protector and my phone. Luckily I was able to dye it black with my gel pen!
I've attached some pics.
The Xtremeguard protectors I ordered arrived today. I just finished installing the front and back protectors (I ordered 2 of each) and must say that I agree with what most people have said about them. The back looks fine (but I think it's because of the texture of the nexus 4 back, so it hides a lot of things). The front protector does feel a little rubbery. I haven't noticed the orange peel affect yet. I'm assuming that may start to come after a day or so? Also received one bad back protector that had already been peeled and had some paper stuck to the adhesive side (so I couldn't use that one). The two front protectors have a couple small white specs on the adhesive side that couldn't be removed. I emailed Xtremeguard about this to see if they can send me a replacement. Overall I think the screen protectors are okay but from what I saw at the Ghost armor Kiosk, the Ghost Armor protectors are better from a look and feel perspective.
I have had the Xtremegaurd protector on my N4 for about a week and a half now, and I still haven't gotten the orange peel effect. My case (ringke fusion) does lift up the side of the screen protector next to the power button, and I am thinking about trimming the side of the protector off so it doesn't rap around the glass to avoid this problem. My fingers also seem to almost stick to the screen sometimes, and it seems like it gets dirty extremely easily, but these are minor issues.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the back screen protector does not play well at all with the case. It leaves a horrible wet look, and is very unattractive. I ordered a dbrand skin though, so hopefully that fixes the problem.

Thoughts on using Screen shields

Was walking through the mall today and came across a kiosk that was selling screen shields (zagg brand) and considered it but with the price being so high (higher than the cost of the case I'm buying) I figured ice see what everyone is using first and your thoughts on the (any brand not just zagg) I personally haven't used one since I bought one for my PSP back in 2005, and with gorilla glass is it even necessary if your using a case?

What case are you getting? I use the moko slim case and because it covers the front of the device, I am not worried about scratches

Its the moko ultra slim smart-shell stand case

Get one unless you don't care about the glass getting scratched eventually. Look in the assesories forum for more info.
I wouldn't use having a flip cover case as a reason for no screen protector. I'd think some kind of grit could stick to it and rub against the glass making it more likely to scratch than with no cover at all.
I have owned alot of low end devices both Android and Windows Phone and I can say the Nexus 7.2 is my first somewhat high end portable device.
And I can say I have never used any sort of protection, be it a case, bumper, screen protectors and alike. Never ever.
And I only bought a case for my N7.2 because I needed one for transportation otherwise I wouldn't even bother.
Lumia 520, Huawei G300, Nokia 5800XM are some of the examples. Even with careless usage I haven't found a single scratch on any of those devices. Unless you go to the beach and intend on using the gadgets or you travel with them on your pocket with keys, I wouldn't even worry.
I was rooting a friends N7 yesterday and noticed the zagg really affected the touch screen performance compared to my ghost armor. Sometime I had to double tap as it was unresponsive if not hit just right.

I think I'm gonna skip the screen protector myself, I am getting a case though I got one free with mine but I don't like it very much its to loose and kinda interfere with my grip makes me wanna hold it harder than I should have to for fear of the n7 slipping out.

First of all, the Nexus 7 does not have "Gorilla Glass"; the glass is made by Corning, but it is never stated anywhere that is same tempered material.

Even if the Nexus had Gorilla Glass, it wouldn't take diamond to scratch it. I have the Moko case as well, but be careful with the metal tab on the front as people have reported that it scratches bare screens over time.

Thats odd....cause I find no degree of touch loss with the same protector. I did have some minor issues with or without the SPG protector of some touches not being registered some times.
You might want to try doing what I just did. There is the thread about taking the back of the N7 off and reconnecting the screen ribbon cable. I did this and it made the touches more responsive now. The cable seemed to be plugged in all the way already...but lifting it out of the socket and pushing it back down seems to have made a difference for sure on my unit. Something for you to try anyway, hope it helps.
N7 screen is a dust and fingerprint magnet unlike Apple products I use so I guess a high quality screen protector is a must for protection and clean screen.
I am using Clear-Coat on my iPhone 4 and it is way better than Zagg. I was going to get the same for my N7 LTE but then I decided to sell it and get an iPad Mini with Retina display instead.

anybody found a good screen protector???

It seems like everywhere I go everyone has the same complaint: the screen protectors don't cover the whole screen or are not designed to bend with the curvature of the v20?
I've had it for little over a week and I've found that those same areas that are making it hard for me to find a good screen protector are the same areas that are the most scratch prone when you lay the phone face down.
If you know of a decent screen protector PLEASEEEE let me know
ok, do you really REALLY need the LG logo to be covered by a screen protector? i mean it doesn't really matter if it gets scratched...it's not the screen.
the spigen tempered glass is amazing. fits well, no halo, clear as anything, and best of all doesn't get that oily rainbow effect from your fingers all day long. it's worth the 10 bucks for two.
I went with a Skinomi wet apply protector. It was hard going back to a non-glass protector, NB it no way I could do the partial fit ones that are currently available. Pretty satisfied with it, very clear and feels pretty good. I'm still keeping an eye out for some better fitting glass ones in the future.

Since the screen has rounded (2.5d) feature on top and bottom, it's nearly impossible to cover the screen entirely with glass.
