This section is Android Development, If you do feel the need to post here PLEASE keep it on development! New Builds and Such are NOT always released upon your personal request!
Most of your Questions Can be answered HERE at the HD2 Linux/Android Q&A Thread, just reading the first few pages may answer your question!
OR
HERE at the [REF] ★★★The Definitve Guide To Android On HTC HD2 ★★★ thread.
ALL Android Builds should be Considered BETA, meaning that there will be Glitches/Freezes/GSOD's/Hoolahooping/etc.
Respect this new Forum space and keep it clean guys!
Since there isn't a seperate sub-forum for Q&A for Android on HD2 here is the only place to ask questions.
Wanna be moderators better stay out

Well thats why theres some threads linked just a few lines up. Thats where questions need to be posted. Just trying to keep the Dev section clean.
OP,
thank you, I've seen alot of threads with questions that have already been answered, or problems that everybody all ready knows.

You are meaning well, but there is ONLY the dev section for Android on HD2. It's bound to have people asking questions since there is no other place in the forum to do so.

Which isint always a bad thing, but when there are threads asking the same question everyday such as "Problem with 3G Darkstone", "Problem with 3G DanFroyo" it does get a little cluttered. Thing is many of the answers are waiting for the asker in the Q&A thread or in the ROM thread it self.
mskip can always take the kick/ban/smash hammer and clean up the mess I guess

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA way to go with the troll on a useless thread taking up space, dont discourage questions people just encourage the right questions
i agree over 46 pages of threads and only like 7 builds
Literally, this thread is not belong here, it has nothing to do with Android Development.
I love how internet white knights like OP think they are saving the forum from n00bs and trolls with threads like this. In reality, threads like this clutter it up equally.
They should just lock down this forum altogether from new threads, force everything to be posted in the general forum. Then promote the actual developer posts to this one and allow replies. It'd be a lot less work for the mods than having to move a billion questions every day.

Hi there,
Glimpsed at the Q&A thread, but realized it's for advanced users.
Is there a good noobs FAQ to help with terms, basic configuration and things like that?
Thanks!
WIKI is a great resource once it's updated for MT4G. At this point the phone is really new.
If you want to know Android in general - head over to G1 section and check out THIS thread, lots of good info.
In general, give yourself 15min before posting a question and skim through Q&A section here. Most likely, there's already an answer to what you're looking for. If there isn't - go ahead and ask it and make sure to include relevant info. And if something is too technical - just let us know.
And don't be like the guy in THIS thread.
Welcome to the community.
Good luck.
Edit: I'll give you a "Thanks" for posting in the correct section. That's a start

The first place a noob should go is to the instruction manual that came with his or her phone. After that you should go to google... after that you should use the search in the forums... after that... that is once you've exhausted all other resources. Ask a question in the Q&A section.
I've read a few threads here lately where someone asks as question and thereafter gets berated by the members who consider themselves developers for posting a question here. I can totally see their side of the argument since this is a development forum and it makes sense to keep the threads like "Help with my app code" separate from "OMGWFTBBQ!! How do I unbrick my XOOM???". Those people often refer to THE RULES saying it's against them to post questions here and to post in the General section.
I actually don't see that in the rules.
But maybe it should be. I am 'guilty' of posting a question or two here, and I even read the rules first to make sure it was the right place to post. I didn't see anything telling me not to, so I posted here, simply because I feel that the General forum section is for basic questions. In that context, I can see why people do post questions here.
So, I'd like to propose a solution that I think would make everyone happy, and would help clean up this section.
A "XOOM Hacking Help and Advanced XOOM Topics" subforum.
This would be a forum where people could ask all the questions and topics that aren't directly related to the actual development and coding process, but are more advance than most of the topics in the General XOOM subforum.
Would anyone else find this useful?
Also, devs, if there was a forum like this, would you be willing to drop in to answer questions? I know everyone here who is not a developer values your knowledge and helpful insight, which is why people ask questions here in the first place.
Thoughts?
Ive felt a bit of negativity too here. One issue is we don't have a q and a section yet. We are so early in the development cycle for the Xoom. We are building kernels and we don't even have SD slot drivers yet! This is the time for folks to kick back, relax, and enjoy their new toy. I freaking love my xoom! I am so excited for the future of this device. All the fun will come in due time. Relax guys!
I agree. I'm enjoying my XOOM a ton, and I actually visit this section more than any other because I love to see what the great minds here are cooking up for the community. But, I can understand their frustration. They're trying to get their bearings on a new device, but are also getting bombarded with questions that bury topics that are actually related to development. I also agree that some of them go overboard and should take a chill pill. It's not good to have someone get turned off from this forum and its benefits because a dev snapped at them for invading their domain and asking for help.
I voted NO. When there are enough Devs to populate this section, then it will be useful, until then you are only fragmenting the people that make up the community. Until then I would think it best that questions To the devs as well as by devs would be at home here. Many devices never even make it past this point.
I wonder how many people that have developed or are actually developing someting for the Xoom right now, have been the ones to try to enforce said non existent rules.
Yes if your willing to manage moving threads around, because for sure thats whats gonna happen
Generally NO though, In other XDA Development sub forums there are plenty of "OMG I bricked my ..." and plenty of useful developer help... since said bricking, etc usually comes along with installing someone bleeding edge hack.
I understand the want for purity but it will take strict enforcement!
No.
Having a Q&A forum would be nice though to separate all the little questions, especially those that get asked over and over and over..
Wow. Split poll data. lol.
So, I guess the 'devs' should just be nice. Fair enough. Maybe the rules should be updated to reflect what exactly is allowed and/or welcome in this forum.
"Doesn't sound like development to me."
Honest question here.
Is it me or is the general section a complete mess now.
All of the old dev threads were moved here a while ago, and it has way cluttered everything up. I just saw a post for the new MIUI. Got a little excited, but made sure I read carefully. Nope, for NS, not NS4G. I hope the wrong person doesn't download that because it is just floating out here in the General vs in the proper NS dev forum.
There are 10 pinned topics. Seems that maybe they could be consolidated to less. I personally find it to be an eyesore. And it seems to be taking up valuable space .
Again, these are my opinions. I was kinda just hoping to get a general consensus here.
Agreed completely. ROM threads need to be moved to the proper ROM sections, not kept as "info" threads in the general section. And the stickies need to be consolidated/cleaned.

I said this ages ago... It would work great and wouldn't be a disgusting mess that it is now.
Follow the leader @corythug
Just recently joined the ns community and yeah the general and dev section is a mess so confusing.

Hey guys, I'm trying to sell my 1946 Victorian Rancher, 5 bedrooms and 5 baths, is there where I post?
unfortunately the mods here care more about clinging to some imagined ideals than creating a place that's helpful for users. these forums are the most whacked of any phone i've owned.

Definitely doing it right
Stock roms should be in Dev section regardless....they are in other phone sections

IMO all roms (including stock, that should be pinned) need to be in the Dev section. It is a mess to need to find the threads for MIUI, pete's bugless beast and other roms in the general section.
stock ROMs are in Dev section
actual XDA home brew ROMs for NS4G / i9020 are in their respective Dev section
only the INFO links to off sites ROMs are in General
Just wanted to pop in and say g'day, and thanks!
The forums are really helpful (as I found out while lurking) so I decided to sign up and see if I could contribute.
If I'm replying rather copiously, it's because I want to get to 10 posts so I can ask a question in the Dev area
Thanks!

You are not supposed to start a new thread in development unless you are sharing your work. If you have questions, ask in the q&a section. You can still reply to an existing thread in development.

If you wanted to contribute to the forum, you should have thought about making a new thread for this kind of stupidity. Spamming the forum does not contribute in any way.

Hello. Some people on XDA have a rod shoved up somewhere where the sun don't shine. If you have questions about any thread in the dev forum, try a search of that forum, and ask if you don't find the answer. Posting frequently is alright as long as you're contributing on some level, even for the sake of discussion about a relevant topic in that specific thread. Spam is usually a bad idea
Have fun and welcome to xda!
welcome to the party! please do not create a new thread in the dev section if you're not a dev. and your questions can be asked in the Q&A section. before you ask, make sure you use the search tool thoroughly. double posting is not acceptable here, if you want to, and i highly recommend, read this article: http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=263 Have a nice time here in xda!
