cm6 kernel - HTC Aria General

hi, i am requesting for the kernel from the CM6 liberty froyo rom. Please help! thnx in advance!

please i flashed a oc kernel in android development and now wifi is broken and so is wifi hot spot please help!i didnt do a nandroid backup

I'm assuming your running a cm6 froyo rom. If so just flash the rom again from attn1 with a full wipe. Its going to suck losing all yet sh*t but atleast you'll get yet wifi back. In another forum script will be coming out with a new kernal soon.

damnit....

I never did a wipe after installing the OC kernel, just wiped Cache partition and Dalvik then reflashed whatever version of CM6 I was using, I haven't had any problems that I have noticed.

Just reflash the rom ad wipe the cache. You wont lose anything.

Data Wipe/Factory Reset

I am currently running CM7 stable and loving the snappiness of it. I have not performed a data wipe/factory reset since switching from CM6 to CM7 at the beginning of February. I have just been flashing each new nightly over the previous one. My question is what benefit would I get from doing a wipe? And if I do a wipe, I know I can use Titanium Backup for my apps, but how can I back up all of my CM7 settings? Thanks for the help!

Mybackup root backs up settings,SMS,mms, contacts, call log, apps&data.all pretty good too.I still use titanium for apps and some system settings don't always restore.ringtones for example.but it gets the majority right.

The only time I do a full wipe is if I have problems after flashing a new nightly. I'd say I get away with flashing over 90% of my nightlies with just a cache/dalvik wipe.

[Q] Roms, Kernels proper way to upgrade

I have the shift with android 2.2 with kernel version 2.6.32.21-gcd7abbd, stock rom. I want to upgrade to a new rom and kernel but am not really sure what the proper process is. Do I have to upgrade a rom first then the kernel or vice versa. Is there an upgrade process that does both in one swoop? I rooted my shift following the directions on this site (automated root process). I would like to use gingerbread of some sort. Is there a readers digest version to follow? I apologize for such a noob question but I don't want to break my phone. Thanks in advance Rob
Try the MikG executive edition listed in the development section. It's Gingerbread, and has some sense 3.0 in it and is fast enough that it doesn't need a kernel. The proper way to flash is make a backup of contacts and apps, then boot into recovery, then wipe user data, clear the cache and dalvik cache, then flash the Rom and then the kernel if one is available for that Rom. All Roms come with a kernel I believe, but some devs make different ones with different capabilities
You should also make a back up of your current rom before any wipeing or flashing....
Better to be safe than sorry....
I run CM7 with the 1.8ghz kernal and havn't found anything better suited for my needs
Thank-you for your help

Some roms require you to also install the google apps as well right after flashing the rom. It's really been hit or miss with me on when I flash a kernel though. Before or after resetting the device after the rom flash.

Flashing new radio in conjunction with new kernel

So I just took the plunge and got off stock sense and moved to CM7. Couldn't be happier. I've heard to run pershoot's kernel as an upgrade, but to do that, you need radio 1.008 or whatever it is. I'm on 1.07.blah.blah
I've never flashed a radio before. I'm a little nervous. I guess firstly...I'd like to know if there are any advantages in both flashing a new kernel (pershoots) and/or a new radio? Can someone explain both...or if I really even need to upgrade my kernel from CM7's stock kernel?
I havn't had an radio issues yet...and I'm assuming a new radio would yield better signal strength, etc...but again, never done it. Any advantages to flashing pershoots? Thanks in advance
The radio may or may not give you better reception, few people got it, I upgrade and was still rocking my -99 dbm as usual and didn't notice any changes in battery life so YMMV.
btw~some people get stuck on the htc screen after flashing new radio, you can fix it by wiping cache and dalvik than flashing a kernel.
On the kernel, I just started using it as of lastnight and can say it's honestly the best kernel out right now, running scary or tiamat I would lose 1 or 2 % every 15 minutes with wifi on, with pershoot I am lucky if I lose 1% in about an hour while surfing the web. It's one amazing kernel.
As for the radio, i recommend just doing it... Everone has different experiences. As long as you check the md5 you will have no issue. Just remember to wipe everything. Also, with pershoot. Just do it its one nice kernel once everything is setup properly

no need to wipe everything with radio...
You might even have to format your sd card to fat32. Which will wipe your sd card. So back it up to your pc!
I was scared at bricking my phone at first as well, but if you get the md5sums and they match, you're ready to go.
Its as easy as placing the zip on your sd, booting to bootloader and letting it do its thing.
Simple.
If you want help, just pm me and ill give you my gmail adress so I can help you step by step.

If your going to flash a new Radio. Just follow the instruction in the OP of this THREAD . Also the OP has the new Radios. Just make sure you read and follow the instructons.
Personally I didn't notice any difference with the 1.08 radio. But you probably should update just to have the new new Like Thronnos said, CHECK THE MD5 SUM FIRST. As long as you do that and ensure that you didn't get a corrupted file you should be fine.
As far as kernels I'm still on the stock CM7 kernel. Works great for me with max set to 1.5ghz. People do say good things about Sparky's kernels but I couldn't ever bring myself to try one. Something about a dev who misspells Dalvik...

I was able to flash the radio succesfully, thanks everyone. Just gotta decide now on the kernel... I had the infamous HTC screen freeze, but after wiping dalvik and cache, it booted up fine. Phew

I am running pershoot but if I had to say, go with either pershoot or scary.
What does wiping cache do to my system? Does it clear phone records or sms history? (Sorry for my good spelling, but I'm still new to the whole dev/phone hacking thing.)
And how do I check md5sum?

[Q] Problem installing Oxygen from official 2.2.2

Hello everybody...
When i got the pjone i updated to the latest official update (28.12.11), I was having some problems so i downgraded using this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728, and than i found out about oxygen rom, and wanted to flash it.
Downloaded the lates version for huawei ideos x5 (2.3.2), wiped cache and flashed it using CWM, but got stuck on the Oxygen logo. I installed 2.2.2 again and than i read here that wiping everything should solve the problem, so i tried again, but this time wiped everything before flashing but this time it didnt even get to the oxygen logo?
Does anyone knows what might be the problem?
Go to official 2.2. Then install oxygen.

Which recovery are you using? You must use genos 4.0.05 or stockwells 5.0.2.6.
5.0.2.7 from geno and 5.5.0.4 from Blefish wont work with 2.2 because they are made for 2.3
i was using blefish 5.5.0.4, noob mistake i guess. i will try with new recovery.
Use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130524 or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288223&highlight=5+0+2+6 both should work fine
Do you really offer using this oxygen rom to a miui rom user? Are there too many advantages at this rom?
Yann, it worked lile a charm, thank you very much. The rom is running smoothly.
I never used any other custom rom, but comared to the official roms this one is a lot smoother and less buggy.
Im new here, should i close the thread?

only one more question... when i go to systems it says i only have 300 something of ram, shouldnt it be 512?
I think it depends how many apps you have installed in phone memory, move some apps to SD and check if get more ram free.
I think that some RAM is reserved for system and GPU. This is why it only showes 300MB

[Q] CM10 downgrade

Hi all,
sorry if this has been asked before - I've had a look but found nothing definitive.
Last week I upgraded from stock froyo to Quarx's CM10, which although looking good, makes my phone too hot and the battery is not impressed. Having recently had my phone out of action due to a battery issue while using CM9, I'm now concerned enough to have made the decision to move backwards.
So, not wanting to go back to Froyo, I'd like to go back to a CM7 variant. As far as I know, I'm still on a Froyo kernel - so can I just flash a CM7 ROM (with a wipe etc), or do I need to go back to bootloader stage to restore the original SBF?
Thanks for your help.
wipe data + cache is enough

Really? I'd have thought a full wipe at least - will give it a go. Thanks.

Does wireless internet sharing work? Thinking about reverting CM10>CM9 back to CM7, as 7 was the last one I could share internet.
And no, apps from the market dont work either.
