So I know the Evo is not comming to the UK but how hard would it be to buy it and sim unlock for the UK?
Vodafone provides UTMS service but if I went with another provider sim only contract I could still get 3G right?
Has anyone else done this?
The evo does not have a sim slot.

According to a couple of people here the DHD can work for tmo ON 3G in the states if you unlock the sim apparently how much of this is true?
Dhd works on gsm. Any septic supplier on gsm will provide service. Just like any other gsm phone. I sent ny dhd to canada and it worked great with Rogers and telus.

Did 3g work? Or edge?
It never ceases to amaze me how many people ask this question when the information is so easily obtained. In the spirit of you asking a question which has been addressed countless times on XDA forums in general, I will not provide you with an answer but the tools to find them.
Go here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands
...and match with what you find here:
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2598&c=htc_desire_hd_a9191_htc_ace
Hint: btw "UMTS" means 3g freq.
Ya. It worked in Mexico, L.A., and Vancouver. I didn't use it much ad T-Mobile U.K. charges £7.50 per mb downloaded when you're roaming. I used a Mexican sim and a Canadian sim and it all worked. Gsm is normal in Europe. Cmda only seems to be in the states from what I've seen. Sorry sprint hero and evo users, I'de never heard of a phone without a sim abd that's coming from a Canadian across the Atlantic living in London.

Is there any way to use the xoom internationally for data? Can I put a sim card in France in the device so I can search the web? Or is the only way to use the internet internationally via Wifi or wifi tether?
No sim card, it's cdma. It's been asked before, try searching. You could use it with WiFi only.

what i read online is that the mz601 and the 603 run on GSM frequencies.. if this means its simlock free or even using the right standards no clue
I'm curious about this too cause 4G LTE is not a CDMA technology and requires a SIM. http://goo.gl/0dyw7
Someone must be able to clarify this. Apparently LTE 4G requires a SIM, but does that mean a GSM SIM will work?
The xoom coming out now that is cdma is not compatible with gsm networks. When you 4G rolls out you will need a LTE sim card. There is a possibility since Verizon is owned by Vodafone that if you go to a Vodafone area then LTE may work internationally. but if you want to get the xoom right now then no its not going to work with a gsm sim.
Hey I'm mostly looking for suggestions here. I'm a US TMO customer. I bought a MyTouch 3G on ebay, it seems to work fine using the SIM from one of my other phones. I called TMO and they're sending me the unlock code.
When I get to London, I'm planning to buy a prepaid SIM and pop it in. Does anybody have any experience or recommendations in terms of who I should get it from, TMO UK, Orange, Virgin, etc? Which one if any will give me 3g data, and how will I know the Access Point info to get the data working?
Thanks!
MC
A Google search will get you the APN settings once you decide on a carrier. For data, you just need to make sure whatever carrier you goes with uses the correct 3G band for the myTouch. I'm pretty sure Vodaphone (if its offered) will work fine off the top of my head. Again, you can get the correct bands from searching.

I'm new to at&t and even though I'm about a half mile from a tower both
Of my s3, s are using edge.
Don't lte SIM cards say 4g on them ?
Thank
Edit . When I web search the sku 72290
It tells me iPhone 4/4s micro SIM
i think you have to have the correct sim card and they also have to provision your card on the network correctly for it to work right....you should call ATT if your's isn't working right
Tough to say, I'd take it to the store I, work for att. Have them cover all the bases. Get a new sim to be sure its not faulty and have them check the imei for your phone on their end. If that doesn't fix it call customer care and request they re-register your phone. Once that is done if your having the problem still and others with att are getting good coverage its most likely your phone.

I think it's something to do with the porting.
Its now flashing hspa + 4g.
I know when I received my phone att had included a non lte sim I had to have it changed out at the att store.
Your SIM is probably OK but your account needs to be provisioned for lte.
Just to be sure you have the att model SGS III?

Hi. I have a Bell mobility Canadian S3. I am traveling to USA. I need data for using Google Navigation and internet there. Does anyone know if i can unlock my phone, buy a prepaid SIM card, and use the phone there? Is this phone compatible with t-mobile or at&t SIM cards?
ps--if it won't work, i also have an unlocked motorolla Atrix (1st gen), but the screen is fidgety and doesn't work well. Will prepaid sims work in the atrix?... then i can just use the atrix as a hotspot for the S3. Thanks in advance.
EDIT...sorry didn't see that the s3 has different forums for canada and USA versions...found out after i created this thread.
Buy an unlock code online. I heard some site charges like 7 cad. I used cellunlocker.net twice before and it charges 15 us each. Or your local cellphone shop or pacific mall I guess....
At&t will sure work and they are roaming partner of Bell. They might have prepaid voice and data. Check online for yourself.
