[Q] Multiple language dictionaries in keyboard settings - Android Software Development

I've been working with FroYo for a little while now and I want to use the new keyboard languages feature now that I have it. I live in America, so I have the English and Spanish dictionaries, but I speak German, so the Spanish one doesn't really help me out too much. Is there a way I can download another language pack for my phone?
I have a Droid (the first one) so it might be a little harder as the European version is for a different phone internally (the Milestone).

Different system/text input languages

Hi all,
Ive never liked any other language than English on any of my devices (it just feels like a really bad synchronized German movie to me if its anything but English) and on my G1 this has always been fine because i just type wickedly fast on my physical keyboard. However, my fancy towards the English menus has infected my other half but she has a Magic so she would actually benefit from a Dutch dictionary, quick-fixes, suggestions and the works.
So here's my question to all you Magic experts; Is there a way to keep the systems language at English but change the dictionary and all stuff related to text input to Dutch?
Thanks!
Any input on this, anybody?
I would think this would impossible from my stand-point. You can only select 1 Keyboard input language (for this example, English) and this means that the dictionary it uses to spell check is the English one. I don't think you can change this procedure at all.

original keyboard

I am looking for a way to have my android 1.6 device (magic) ti have the system language in english but the original keyboard in dutch is that possible? I tried the htc keyboard but i dont like that one very much.
ty!
I'd like to add a question (if I may.. otherwise I will open a new thread) about keyboard on Android.
on th iPhone it is possibile to have the system set in one language, but a certain number of keyboards enabled.
I mean for example:
- system: English
- keyboards (characters): english, italian, Japanese, Japanese (kanji).
Is it possibile on Android too? By native features or third party app, it doesn't matter.
Thank you

Dual language rom for HD2

I was wondering where I can find a rom with both English and Chinese languages included. Or even an English rom with Chinese viewing and handwriting input support.
Most other phones have the ability to change the system language anytime I want, but the HTC HD2 only come in one language and one language only. So if anyone knows where I can find something like, please do share =)

Dual main language for Windows Mobile phones certainly sounds like a nice idea, havenĀ“t seen this either...
But, there seem to be quite a few custom ROMs offering you English as main language and with Chinese support...
Just search the ROM thread here in the forum, you will find this, this, this, and maybe even this...

Redemption ROM handwriting german language

Hi,
I tried Redemption ROM on my Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000
Very nice ROM, I would like to use it.
There is one serios problem for me: Handwriting does not work in german language (only view of the selectable languages work - english (uk), english(us), polish, ...); not selecting silver keyboard at flash as suggested by some contributions in threads does does not change anything.
So, handwriting is in fact unuseable for me - writing german with english setting is no way because word recognition does not work appropriate.
Did anybody find out, how to get it working?

Different system language compared with the home country

Hi guys, i just bought my first Huawei phone (P9 Lite - L21), and i have a question for you : i live in Europe, and english is not my birth language, but i am used to have the language in my phone to english. I choose my country, and i don't have the option to choose english as the phone language. If i choose english, it makes me choose one of the countries that speaks english.
Does it matter if i choose english, and another country, compared with my own? Does it provide some advantages in choosing my own language?
Thanks for the help!
Well it matters in a way that the different regions also have different modifications of the English language.
For example it is "color" in US but "colour" in UK.
So for the display language there won't be a lot of difference so it is mostly trivial which country you choose.
The only place where it IS relevant is in your keyboard settings because autocorrect will be based on these differences in the language.

It has no difference for me if it is uk or us english, and as for the autocorrect, i don't use it.
Thanks for the info.
