Phone doesn't boot? What do you mean doesn't do anything or gets stuck?
If your device turns on you could try to get in bootloader by holding volume down when turning on the device. If that works you can connect to usb and flash another rom

When I hit the power button nothing happens, the screen is black, the device does not start. No bootloader, no led light nothing, I tried hard reset, I tried the reset button.
When I was installing the custom ROM the battery was full. When I connect to USB, the computer says some Qualcomm device thats it.

If you cant boot in bootloader, then its screwed. But you said your pc sees it as qualcom device...so it probably ok.
Just put it in bootloader, and flash a stock ROM.

PC shows as "qualcomm cdma technologies msm". But nothing else not going to bootloader

Did your ROM had a radio in it or only the OS?

I guess only OS, I think I did not have Radio

Did you tried to leave the battery?
Which Original stock rom did you used for cooking your own? Have you a link?
Did you already searched in forum for a possible fix?
i found some links http://www.google.com/cse?cx=partne...mqefhnf&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=hd2+bricked&sa=Search

HD2: Tmous or Htc brand?
HDSPL? Have you installed one?

It a tmobile. I used the Oskitchen and downloaded a stock ROM to start. I removed some of the items that I did not want, then after I did "start building". I took the "RUU_Signed_0409" from the output folder. I flashed this to my device.
HDSPL - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433 I followed this tutorial.
Can you please let me know what you mean by "Did you tried to leave the battery?"

Leave the battery means Take out the battery for some times and then return it inside.
Did you dump a TMOUS Stock rom, right?

Can you please compress the ROM and upload it somewhere so we can take a look? If you didn't select splash screen or radio the ROM should contain only the OS section and therefore be safe to flash.

MOD EDIT: removed link because not safe,PM OP for link. thanks.

@ Airxtreme:
Did you see his prvious post? See below, he hisnt totaly sure by Radio.
Most TMOUS mobiles Rom upgrade failure are due to flash a non compatible RADIO , its not safe to flash the rom linked.
Im removing the link, if someone wanna try what Airxtreme suggested, please share it by PM....sorry but i do not want some noobs complaining for his phone bricked.

Sorry but the archive seems to be corrupted however from the part I could extract it looks like the ROM file except for the fact that it's 400mb big (but it shouldn't be a problem if yours is a TMOUS phone) has only the OS section and that means it should have been safe to flash. Try removing the battery as suggested, unless you have issues with your computer's USB or some other application messing up the RUU updater the phone shouldn't have been permanently bricked also when you turn it on to enter the bootloader mode try doing it with the phone not connected to the computer maybe it just doesn't like the USB port.

From what I saw there is no radio in there and the archive wouldn't even extract so I don't think there is any risk about somebody flashing that file.

Yeah i see that it is corrupted, but you know ....i have seen some recent post in Kaiser forum with people with Different phones then the Kaiser, asking in Spl thread how to install it on their phone....so better dont risk imo

Bricked Cruise? Need Help.

Okay, so I'm an idiot. I'm completely lost now. Here's the basic facts:
Hard-SPL install was unsuccessful, but I didn't notice. So I'm still with original SPL.
I started upgrading the ROM with original SPL, which of course crashes at 3 percent.
Now I can't get back into WM. It's stuck at the 'smart mobility screen'.
So the problem is: it won't let me install any ROMs because original SPL is still on there. I can't change to hard-SPL anymore either. The ROM that's on the machine doesn't seem to work anymore. When I try to install an original ROM it says I can't use this utility. I think I need to download an official ROM + installer, but I can't find any from HTC.
Alright, so skip all the noob and idiot comments please, I already know. But where do I go from here?
Please help!

First you can try a hard reset!
Here you can download the original shipped rom with installer.

Update
Okay, so I did the hard reset as described here. No luck.
So I went back to the bootloader screen (original SPL) and tried the original rom and installer from the download link. Again, no luck. It says "Error [294] Invalid Vender ID. This utility cannot be used for your PDA phone. Please check your update utility." The phone was unlocked when I bought it, it's HTC branded. Is there another installer out there?
I've also tried loading several roms by putting them on SD, renamed as POLAIMG.nbh. (including the orginal rom, extracted from the downloaded installer). For the original Rom, it will say 'loading...', then 'checking...' and then it will tell me: "00028002 - not allow". Then it goes back to the three colour spl screen.
There's also a link here on the forum which I'm not sure is good advice.

Hi
Ths info I posted relates to the Kaiser (kaiser [nearly] equals Polaris in terms of hardware) and the MTTY is from the ELF forum.
"set 16 0" to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
"task 8" to get your device formatted
I suggest the set 16 0 and a reset to see if that helps, I do advocate you searching for these commands and checking they are applicable.
The info was from this KAISER thread

Thanks for your advice guys.
I tried the "set 16 0" command + reset. Still same situation.
Any other tips anyone?

I think he wrote already that he tried to flash some ROMS using SD card... (POLAIMG.NBH). Not sure though if he tried re Hard-SPL'ing using the SD flash method...
So I would suggest to retry the HardSPL using the POLAIMG.NBH method (just as if the HardSPL's .NBH file was a normal ROM) if this hasn't been tried yet...
Hey you must careffuly read mtty in kaiser thread.....mtty can brick your device for entire life.....my advice to you is pm GSLEON3

You're right; I did notice that - however
I had to take an nbh from this page. The reason is that the HTC Cruise Hard-SPL program I found on this page won't let me extract the rom.
I need the rom file to put in on SD!
The Hermes one probably wouldn't work anyway though, thats a good point Where to get the Polaris separate rom nbh? I haven't found it on the forums. Maybe I'm going blind...

1. You can not flash hard-spl with microSD method! (hard-spl flash use jumpspl to ignore cid-lock. But with microSD card method you will not use jumpspl, so you can not flash hard-spl! (and to use microSD method you have to have hard-spl on your pda)
2. If you unzip hard-spl on your pc will be an RUU_signed.nbh. This is the rom file, but you can not to flash it with microSD.
3. Your device is bricked, I think. Take it to repair!
after an unsuccessful flash, u shud never try to flash again, high chance of permanently bricking your pda. go contact GSLEON3, he saved my kaiser from bricking when i made the same mistake as u. helpful fellow. make sure u donate lol

Okay this is what happen I had files in my SD card and there was this exe file that i downloaded onto the phone it rebooted and then it stays stuck on the tmobile slpash stick together screen. Tried downloaded a different ROM to the phone but still wont work. I dont know what else to do? Should i return it back to Tmo US and what should i say? Can anyone please help.
Never mind iI fixed it thank you all for your help.... Great Community
You take it back and tell them pretty much that after reboot it simply got stuck... They have lot more capabilities of fixing it quickly then you with replacing ROMs, etc.

1. Did you flash HSPL ?
2. Are you a new in flashing ROMs
Turn mobile off, turn it on with volume key down. Connect phone to PC using USB cable (word : `serial` changes to `USB`), flash HSPL (if you didn`t flash it already), flash stock ROM or custom ROM (some custom ROMs require to flash radio first).
Kris
EDIT :
Sorry didn`t see some first answers. If you didn`t mess around SPL, you didn`t loose your warranty .. I would take it back to the store. If you changed SPL you can still reverse it and than take it to the store. If you don`t want to, you can follow procedure above (at your own risk).
Yes i did flash HSPL 1024 for Tmmo US and had a custom ROM on it. And sort of yes. Do you know where i could get the stock rom so it could back to tmo and i could return it and tell them after leaving it overnight charging with the phone completly off and turning it on in the morning it stayed at the tmo screen. Lets see what they say. But can you or someone give me the stock rom

How to flash from SD card ?

I know apparently this isnt the best way to flash your HD2, but im stuck without any access to windows. (mac user)
i cant seem to find step by step instructions on how to do this properly....
is there a link somewhere i can get to so i can figure this out? isnt it as simple as copying the custom.nbh file to the root of my memory card, and entering the bootloader screen?
Sorry for all the noob questions.
take ruu_signed.nbh, copy it to sdcard formatted fat32 (2gb cards seen to work best) rename it leoimg.nbh, boot to bootloader and it should detect the image and ask if you want to flash.
it still requires hspl, unless you have a goldcard(easier to borrow a pc for two minutes to apply hspl than make a goldcard)
the phones already been flashed with hspl.
i just want to change the rom!
Thanks for the tips im going to go for it right now

Hi
One advice you have to remember is DO NOT flash any official rom with this method. If you do it will replace the hspl and you will be stuck.
Good luck

True, flashing a stock rom via sd card will overwrite hspl with the new stock spl, but you will not necessarily be stuck. That used to be the case before hspl2, as the original hspl only worked with spl 1.42.0000. HSPL2 now works with 1.42.0000, 1.66.0000 or 2.08.0000 spl's.
or just throw your mac away and buy a PC
What many forget is that you actually need an SD card and not SDHC, as those will not work.
understand u already flash hspl,
microSD / microSDHC will work as long it is formatted with FAT32 fs.
just copy the *.nbh to SD root & rename it to LEOIMG.nbh.
enter bootloader, follow on-screen.
if bootloader cant find any rom image, run scandisk & try again.
gd luck.
I just flashed this rom.
It seemed to be fine. It installed and looked a-ok.
I had a look around and every thing looked as it should.
I added "26.4 column Start menu.cab" and now the phone won't reboot at all.
It gets to the HTC white screen, and then hangs.
Any ideas?
Is it a conflict between the 4 columns app and the ROM?

when you say "just flashed this rom", what rom?
also, did you read ALL the first few posts in the chefs thread? chances are it requires a specific radio version
either that or you didn't do a hard reset after you flashed.
apologies, I replied in here when I thought I was in the HTC Energy thread.
The device rebooted after the flash.
Does that not count as a hard reset?
samsamuel said:
Is it T Mobile usa? if so, then you have flashed an incompatible rom.
tmous (T Mo US) phones will opnly take roms based on 2.10, the rom you have installed is 1.66 (D 1. 66. Kumar)
Kumar has a rom in the Tmo US section based on 2.10, you should use that, not the one in teh normal hd2 section.
With power off, press and hold "volume down", tap the power key and continue to hold vol down until you get the three coloured screen, connect to usb, wait for word 'serial' to become 'usb' and flash a compatible rom.

I ran into the same problem and all I had to do was to get the phone into Bootloader and then flash the radio recommended by ROM Cook.
also the same problem
I have also this problem, but I think it's in the rom, when I installed the rom, everything seems ok, but after a reset, the screenthat I get is the white HTC screen.
After a hard reset it is ok, but after a reset it is the same problem.
Then I thought, i take an older rom, but when I've installed the rom he is automatic installing the cab file's at the end of the installation, and he's going to automatic reset the HD2. After the reset I have the same problem as with the new rom.
So the biggest problem is that I can't install another rom or radio because the rom don't start for 100%, and when I do a hard reset, after the reset at the end of the installation I get the white HTC screen.
What can I do, can I fix this problem?

RTFM. These constant posts about white screen hangs are really getting frustrating. Does nobody follow the forum rules of searching any longer? There's nothing wrong with the rom, the user on the other hand I'm not so sure of.

If you bothered to read even just the last 5 pages of the Energy thread you would have seen probably 20 mentions of the problem. Energy rom won't work with a x.xx.51.xx radio.

[Q] [HELP] I did RTFM and still have a problem !!

Hi,
Check out my bootloader screen, this doesnt look ok to me
Tried loading severel older radio's / rom's they all fail after 1, 4 or 19 % with the second error included as a jpg!
Can someone help me fix my 2nd HTC HD2 ?
TIA
Most recently, there seem to be quite a few people having issues with defective bootloaders. Somewhere in another thread, some guys actually were able to bring back the correct SPL with this method:
1. Took out the battery for about 30 seconds.
2. Put one of the LEOIMG.NBH on storage card
3. After putting the battery held the volume down button and pressed power button.
4. It went into HSPL mode straight away and started loading the win 6.5 OS.
Click to collapse
The key difference and important point is to take out the battery, keep it out for a while, and pushing the bootloader buttons while re-inserting the battery (yes, can be a little tricky).
The LEOIMG.NBH should be a ROM which is made for your device, eg. the stock ROM which was original on your device when it was brand new. If you´ve got a Leo1024 (US device), please make sure twice you´ve got a correct ROM. A wrong Radio ROM can completely brick your device, only professionals could fix that.
In case you don´t know where to get the leoimg.nbh file: Download the stock ROM for your device, decompress the RUU.exe file with WinRar (or a similar program), rename the nbh file which you´ll find in the decompressed files to leoimg.nbh, there you go.
The SD card should be freshly formatted FAT32.
Hope it works that way...
Thanks, havent tried it with the battery out for longer then 3 seconds. When i put a stock rom on the sd it just says loading, then checking and then it boots back to the bootloader!!! Gonna try it again but keep the battery out longer.

Just some questions.
- Witch SD-Card do you used? a 2GB SD-card is preferable. (And be format by FAT32.)
- Witch Stock Rom did you use?? Did you download it from the HTC webpage by using your S/N?
- And I don't know if you know it, but you need to rename the RUU_signed.nbh to leoimg.nbh.
1GB
RUU_Leo_S_HTC_NLD_3.14.404.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
And i renamed it
It says loading, then instead of giving the screen with all the options that you see in the youtube video it says checking and on top it shows the following numbers 00058002

Just to be sure; your device is a Dutch version? and you downloaded the stock ROM by using Your S/N? (this is important)
On the HTC website there are 3 rom's to be downloaded.
1 = Vodafone and my sn doesnt allow me to use that one.
2 = My SN allows me to download this one and is from 02-02-2010:

hmm, for the moment I don't see a direct solution.
But just a question; how was this issue created/started?
I mean when did this problem become, what did you do?
I wanted to put android on my daughters hd2, i started working with this newb guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
Step 1 finished well i think:
1. YOU NEED A RADIO WHICH SUPPORTS 576 RAM (2.08.50 or later should be fine but the Radio NEEDS to be 2.**.50.**). I recommed the 2.15.50.14 Radio *HERE*
Then i did the HRDSPL bit and it showed we hacked it, then i did the magldr shizzle and it got screwed!
This is the screen is get btw!
Cant believe that this is it? I can toss the phone away now? Anyone?
This might be alil' stupid, but have you tried Task29 ?
P.S: Your tags to the thread are ~~~> xD !!
Thanks but i tried that, ClydeB1 gave me the a tip to try and will do so in 8 hours from now

I see that your model id in your screenshot of the bootloader screen seems all screwed up. This is an old fix I stumbled across to allow users to bypass the model id check when running hspl, you may want to give it a go.

That **** didnt turn out as wanted, i can flash it to 2.08.0000 and 2.08 hspl now but still cant flash stock rom
Goldcard is next on my to do list it seems !!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825397
Before goldcarding,
Since your bootloader is corrupted, you can try SSPL?
Give it a shot, you have nothing to lose. (Except to completely brick your phone )

Firstly its "ROM" not "room".
What do you mean "with triangle" ??
Which HD2 do you have and which ROM did you try flashing?
Can you get into tri-color bootloader mode?
Sorry i post my thread quickly. Yes i tried to flash a ROM, i have HD2 512MB. I tried to flash a 3.14.405 rom. triangle - i can get in tri-color bootloader mode, but when i try also flash original rom there is no result, it crashes on 9 or 17%. Triangle is a sign when i switch on a device, i believe it means ther eis no windows/rom on device

your device is not bricked... get into bootloader and do a task 29 (LOOK IT UP)...
Then start from scratch... Magldr, then whatever ROM you want.
Can you explain me? Please step by step... Thanks in advance

If you can't pay rent, I'm afraid I'll have to ask you vacate the area.
Possible fix stuck bricked hd2 radio no rsa information
Please read the whole post first sorry about the mess it is my first post thanks to everyone here on xda who came up with everything i used to do this There is guides for this xda has a lovely list of tmous roms if you are on t mobile in the us http://www.xdafil.es/index.php?path=HD2/TMOUS/
i would start with the RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.02.531.MASD_S__Radio_Signed_15.29.50.07U_2.06.50.04_TeleNav-5.5.42.zip
extract the .exe file if it has one than extract the RUU_signed.nbh from the .exe file using win war or 7 zip than rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and place it on a newly formatted microsd not a microsdhc and i had problems with anything over class 4
place it in your phone and hold the volume down button and power button as loading comes up let off volume down power button will start the flash(i was only able to do complete flashes in the freezer if not it would hang or get radio errors)
i also had a tmous which did not want to flash the radio i would get an an error and rsa fail it sounds crazy but i wrapped it in plastic and stuck it in the freezer for a while before and during the flash this was the only way i could install the radio and actually see rgd information on boot screen after this first one you will have an old test rom with an old spl you cannot change to hspl from here i also was not able to go straight to 2.10, i had to step up from RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.03.531.6_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.50.23_3_Test.zip, to RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.03.531.6_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.50.23_3_Test.zip the same way i did the first one, hard resetting after each one and let it open windows completely to know it is working. than i believe there is an hspl3 file somewhere out there with all thanks to DarkForces Team HardSPL3 by bepe and Cotulla i will try to attach it that will work with spl 2.02 wich you should now be on now you can download your radio in the master radio thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
i also just renamed the ruu_signed.nbh to LEOIMG.nbh and ran through sd i seem to have problems through usb and i was trying to be careful with the radio
once you got the radio you want you could flash the rom preferably running task 29 before or get yourself magldr to install through nand i also stuck my laptop an the freezer with the phone to get wp7 completely installed i did all this mess with a phone that had a broken screen i think there is like thermal compound over the processor to the case that is not on right and overheats when not in the operating system like a crappy old laptop with its fans full of stuff trying to install xp. and while a stock rom was being installed the usb was pulled during the radio installation i hope this helps i belive i saw one post to stick it in the freezer out of everything that i think helped the most.i also notice i have to put it in the freezer at boot too sometimes or i will get a fatal hit error i think its just over heating..... i also have an hd2 which has never been opened before that i have never had to stick in the freezer it gets flashed quite abit right now running gingerbread on normal hd2 and wp7 dual boot android 2.2 on the one i had to freeze i hope this helps i was here for weeks reading reading i was stumped cus my first hd2 and g1 were so eazy i will update this post once i stop being lazy and open the phone again to replace the goop to see if that is the problem
Thank you for reading my jumble and thanks again to all you phone heads here on xda which without you none of this would be possible and i would not have wp7 and gingerbread on my hd2 : D
I did a task29, flash a ROM succesfully, but now it' s stucked in HTC loading mode (Shows a HTC and nothing happens)

no luck at all I tried it once and have succesfull rom update, but it stucks when started with HTC logo, i tried second time and still no luck. Please help me.. all the time now also for original rom it says that this room is not for that device
original rom
you have to find the original rom shipped with your phone like here i am tmobile usa roms you have to find your carrier and country and start with one of the first ones i started with my second one RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.02.531.MASD_S__Radio_Signed_15.29.50.07U_2.06.50.04_TeleNav-5.5.42.zip and i kept getting stuck screens when it was hot turn it off maby find some silica gel (lil rocks that come with everything to absorb water) wrap it in plastic and throw it in the freezer does the back of the phone get real hot during flash
i have shipped original rom, still no luck
not the newest one
you need one of the first test roms this was the only way i got mine to work i had to go from 2.02 to 2.03 to 2.05 hard resetting after each install making sure they completely went in what carrier are you and where are you
Still stuck?
Download HSPL 3.zip from page 1,
Run the program;
a) select 2.08.000 (not HSPL) and you can flash stock (HTC) ROM with no damage or aftermarket changes on your phone.
b) select 2.08.HSPL and you can flash whatever you want
Install MAGLDR 1.13
Flash ROM
Make sure you follow the instructions EXACTLY. You can find these all over XDA, look at all of my posts if you need to.

Hi, thanks a lot. Only, SPL for original rom was 1.42000 is it ok to flash with 2.08.000 ? And why i should install MAGLDR 1.3 ? Thanks in advance,
Ok, now i dont understand anything. My original SPL was 1.42, i did Hardspl 3, after that tried flash original rom, process stuck on 96%, after that i tried once again stuck on 9% and says rom not compatible with device. And its like a hidden circle, my phone is acting like that all the time. I tried task29, tried all HSPL, also 1.4200, 1.66 and so on. Can anybody help me? my skype nick is martins.prieditis , maybe someone can assist me?
Ok now its fixed. I did a HSPL4, due to which original rom freeze on 0%, but 3.14 didnt start up on loading OS (white screen with HTC logo))or freeze on 99%. Than went back to shipped 1.42, stock room succesfylly flashed and did a SSPL_RUU. Now the only problem is that my LEO restarts when it gets hot. Any ideas how to fix it?
Thanks all for youre help (regarding my previous issue) !
Overheating??
As mrpoe stated in post 9, One of his phone had to be put in the freezer to be able to flash anything otherwise it will get hot and freeze.
Also the motherboard is most likely broken and you cannot get it to work without freezing or it will keep rebooting...
The best thing to do if you still have warranty is to Keep stock SPL and stock WM6.5 and return for warranty.
It will not function the same again.
