So I was just on the phone for a tech support issues and at the end of the call I was offered an additional line and a 4G data card at no additional cost to me. Im pretty stoked
how is this possible? I need to know to add to my loophole list lol

Im not to sure to be honest. At first the rep offered the line for free and said I would have to pay $99 for the 4G card, after refusing to pay she "waived" it.
Ohh yes I forgot to mention I was calling to complain about the premium data charge when I have no 4G in my area, was given a $20 service credit LOL

if you have no 4g why would they offer a 4g card? is it only me or is something wrong with this?

Its backwards compatible with 3G and when 4G does come to my area I can use it.
what exactly did u have to say to get in on this, I wanna try this myself!
ummm...the sierra wireless 250u 3g/4g data card is free on all new lines of service, so I don't know how special of an offer it was. Check their website.
from what you just said your got a free aircard but your still paying the fully monthly fee, this isn't anything new, I did this everyday when I worked at sprint haha, its called selling people crap they dont need but they want cause I say freeeeee lol

Yep. Guarantee OP got screwed. I saw stuff like this when I worked as a CSR for AT&T.
he said he got an additional line and the card, so correct me if i am wrong here, which i probably am, but the 3G/4G card will use that free line correct ?
and if he has the unlimited plan which he does, then this should work right, and end up being totally free ?
now the free line is interesting, was it free as in they waived the $10/mth or they just waived the hookup fee..... ????
i had the same thing...called in to see whats up with all the roaming my phones been getting and msl code......dude didnt know anything...so out of the blue he asks if i wanna try a 3g/4g data card free ...but free for 30 days, kinda like with a new phone..he said i can try it out for free, and if i dont like it, return at no cost...if i do like it, it would be like 50 something a month...i thought to myself..why would i need a data card if i can tether for free....so i just played dumb and asked him why i would need to pay an extra 50 a month, when i could just pay sprint 30 and use the hot spot feature...so the tech support guy says he'd rather not use up the phone's memory, battery, and resources....
then i interrupted and declined,
he kept on going about the 30 secs,
...so i interrupted and declined again...
then he thanked me and asked about a survey,,,
then i hung up...
I was offered this too. It's for one month, or that's what my rep said.
its not 10$ a month for an aircard is 60$, I doubt he got the service for free. theres almost not reason for sprint to do that except to save a customer, But I cant see how that would be anything related to retentions as it does not improve upon any situation.
id bet they tricked him into getting it heh.
You got played. I wonder what the process would be like to return it but I'm sure I don't want to know.

So i have a family plan with my parents... We have a 1500 minute account, i have unlimited text and web, they are old school and dont like texting or webing. So i upgrade my phone to a mytouch 7 months ago.. My parents are both elegible to upgrade price.. And i really like the Vibrant.. but t-mobile wants you to put a data plan on the line that you upgrade the phone... So my question is if i get the Vibrant using my moms phone number, Do i have to put Web on her line?? even tough she will not be using the phone.. I will Thanks

this doesnt make sense how about if some one looses the phone, and gets a non internet capable phone? they are going to pay for a service that they cant use??
I mean the disconnected price is because you are increasing your contract 2 years more..
How about if i just want the phone for testing purposes and i dont want internet on it... or i want to use it as an ipod..
This suks
there is a way around it, upgrade the line to a vibrant on your moms line....then go into the store a day later and upgrade the same line to the cheapest dumb phone, you will have to pay full price, should be about 50-60 bucks, that line no longer requires a data contract

How stupid is this??

The data is required for 2 years. If you switch to a non data phone they'll make you switch to unlimited messaging for $15 on that line (best case scenario)

Wait a minute. I though data plans only went in to effect once TMO detected the IMEI number for a particular SIM? I've done this in the past, and I understood I could do this in the future when speaking to TMO last week.
well seems like if i buy a phone make a 2 year contract and then later on i buy a full price phone trough t-mobile i dont have to keep that data plan...
well i just purchase it for $164 on the t-mo site.. Lets see what happens... You guys want me to update with the resolution??
btw if everything goes wrong i have 30 days to return the device correct???
I work for T-mobile, there is a work around to this. but you'll be paying full price for the vibrant. the $199 price for the vibrant is so cheap because of the internet and the data plan is locked in for 2 years regarless if you buy a cheaper phone, theres no way to take it out unless you want to pay the $200 early termination fee, its call "Required data plan". its better just to buy the phone out right. if you really want the vibrant as an upgrade PM and ill tell you what to do.

I called the loyalty department at t-mobile.
Upgraded my father-in laws liine and got ordered the vibrant to put on my account.
The cost??? $149!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Call the loyalty department!!
They even took off the web on my father-in law's line.
I had to call in a couple times though.
Depends on who you talk to.
Hope this helps.
On your line, give that to one of your parents, take one of their lines upgrade it get the vibrant add text and web, and then remove all web and text services from your old line.simple. Hit my google voice number and I'll explain better for you, 2158217393. Tone.

I had that happen to me when I upgraded a different line for my MyTouch. They will let you do it you just have to keep telling them you want to talk to a supervisor until one will give permission.
Most people don't know this but there is $10 and $20 monthly plan with the airave. The 10 gives you unlimited minutes for one phone and the 20 for 5. Basically a long as a call is originated from the airave device, minutes are unlimited, even if you leave the area of coverage.

Who would pay that on top of the $100 to buy it and $4 monthly fee? Especially since the only minutes used is landline calls? I don't know one person anymore that has a landline. Maybe others but I can't see myself ever using anything over an hour a month. So far my two bills I have used none of my minutes up.. but thanks for.letting people know this as when I talked about an airwave at sprint store they never said it comes with a plan or need a plan. Just a straight 4 dollars a month to use it. Imo those plans are useless unless you know and talk to regularly, people with landlines.

Not sure what you mean, but I have an evo and poor reception, sprint sent me a free airave and it does do data(3G). I get full strength signal. Not a big deal since I usually use wifi at home anyways. The call quality is great...I think it just turns ur cell into a voip, but it works great!

Hello even tho i love my EVO i can't stand the internet speeds I am getting with sprint service, when i first bought this phone i was planing on using it as my main isp, but that is out of the questing with the 0.20mb dl i usually get, well just now i made a speedtest and i got 0.16mb download and 1.43mb upload...
tmobile didn't had 3g here in PR till like a month ago i already had evo since july 6.
but now tmobile is rolling 4g here with speeds of around 3mb dl stable (tested on vibrant phone)
I am thinking on moving back to tmobile once the mytouch 4g launches, but yeah I am on contract and looking for the possibilities i have without needing to pay 190 to get off contract and another 200 i assume for mytouch 4g.
is there any way around? is there a pay plan for the penalty
should i try sell the EVO on ebay? (never sold anything on ebay just bought some stuff)
any recomandations..
ohh yeah that mytouch 4g is looking sexy.
Options:
1 - Wait until they modify something service-related. You'll have your 30 day window to quit without ETF
2 - Move to an area that has no service for Sprint
3 - There is some website that can take over your contract but I dont recall whats the name of it... it basically allows you to dump your contract on someone else
4 - Pay up and be done with it?

That's about the best and only suggestions I would give too.
Except #3 doesn't have to be done through a website. As long as you can find someone who is willing to take over your plan your account can be transferred to the other party without you having to pay any ETF. I don't know if the phone has to transfer along with it but if it does just sell your phone to the party accepting your plan.
Sell your phone on craigslist or ebay pay the cancel fee.
Have you flashed the latest radio? That seemed to help my speeds. I take it you aren't in a Sprint 4G market yet.
I feel your pain on the internet speeds man. I'm in the detroit area and the speeds here during the day are abysmal. I've thought about canceling but the cheap plan plus my discount is keeping me right with sprint.
As the others suggested, try to find someone who could take over your plan our just suck it up and pay the cancellation fee.

If you went this route, they'd need proof that the subscriber did in fact perish. Usually it is a faxed copy of the death certificate.
Yeah, I love my Evo...but my 3G speeds are TERRIBLE, with that being said I highly doubt my area will be getting 4G anytime soon if ever. I have wifi but that's only useful when I'm home, which blows. And to the person who posted about them changing a terms of service agreement, or whatever, the 30 day window is activated again when that happens?

I think I found something...This was just on my latest bill, I did some research and any change to the previous contract is a breach and you have 30 days to get out of your contract. Now, you can get out of your contract and still keep your service, just not be tied down to a fricken contract! Here is what was on my last bill:
Directory Assistance 411 Increase
Effective 3/1/11, the domestic Directory Assistance 411 base charge will increase to $1.99 per call.
Please let me know if I am wrong, but when I worked for Verizon this is the way it was for them too.

I believe the text message rate happened some time ago. Sprint has been very careful with their most recent changes and they don't count as "materially adverse changes". The Sprint Premier change doesn't because it's a perk and not part of the contract. The $10 data fee doesn't because if you have an EVO or Epic, you're already under contract to pay it anyway, and if you don't, you won't be paying it until you get another phone. The 411 fee mentioned above also doesn't count because it's not part of your contract.

You cant get out for Sprint changing the ten dollar premium data fee because existing lines are already grandfathered in and the 411 calls are just a service they offer. you can call 1800free411 and get free 411 calls if you would like. They will not let you out of contract because these fees are not something you are forced to pay. The last time sprint changed something that would allow you to get out of your contract for free was when they imposed the 5g data cap on the 3g service for data cards only. that meant that anyone who opposed it could end service within 30 days without any ETF but after the 30 days it was assumed that you accepted. So I would keep trolling but they are really arent as dumb as they seem...

I might have to go for the 2-3 due to a couplle people wanting this" asap"
The person currently in possetion of the phone may have to mail it to next client
Phone will be nicely handled no mater how much you hate apple. The screen has dead pixels ill post picture tomorrow and its condition. So this being said you break it you buy (parts) for my phone. So be nice to it like if it were your Atrix or otherwise.

It's a rental to activate your SIM card for the unlimited data plan. You're simply renting the 2G iPhone to get the unlimited data plan.
I see where you're coming from OP, but if you don't have a high down payment, you may not see your phone again.

..... and i thought the difference between buy/sell/trade and rent/temporary sell were pretty clear cut.
Buy: purchase item from seller to take ownership
Sell: sell item to interested buyer to make money
Trade: exchange goods you don't need for something you do need
and
Rent: loan to interested party with the promise of it being returned
Temporary sell: ...... rent?
I don't think i've ever seen a hardware rental topic in a PC hardware forum. I know people sometimes will send the hardware to you before you pay just so you can make sure you're not gonna get screwed over, with the expectancy of being paid if satisfied. It's happened to me. Bought a GTX 570 off of someone from Guru3D. So far paid for half of it, and will be paying the second half this week. Wouldn't exactly call that a "rental" though.

I found a iPhone 2g imie on internet, example is eBay, I called customer care told them I wanted to use it and asked for correct data plan for it then I had a retailer change it back to atrix with unlimited data but I forget to have them put imie back on and only got 3g unlimited til I had them correct imie then they switch it to 4g unlimited. I get no BS like u get from customer care about not wanting you to keep it

Hmmm I might try this. How much was the iPhone 2G imei on eBay and did customer care give you any other options for the data plan, meaning is there no way they can deny you from the unlimited plan?
