What to do first

Well hi guys probably the first time me posting in the forums of XDA Developers
well i might be getting a htc magic soon and i seen alot of methods and roms and recovery root things and im really getting confused can anyone say what the best ROM is , easiest way to root and how to get recovery?
I had a Galaxy spica before but it got robbed and now im getting a new phone ...
i had it rooted using odin and it came with recovery and i use to flash zips so im hoping its the same thing
also does the motoblur rom have wi-fi now and on 2.x?
also im on rogers and getting it from them so im wondering how i would know if its 32a or 32b?

[Q] Does rooting change the appearance ofmy phone in any way

HI Guys,
Im a bit of a newbie on the rotting front.
Ive done some reading up on rooting that seems pritty simple and i get what it does BUT if i root my phone will it change its appreance in any way or the way it works by default if i dont change any thing. As the only reason i want to root my phone is to get rid of the ****ty apps that come on it.
also if i root it can i update to gingerbread?
All answers welcome

see....this is a very common asked question,
if you root your phone by propc method Link, it will give you a gingerbread theme.
but if you root your phone directly, then you will have same appearance, only there will be a Super User Permission app.
and you asked about gingerbread ROM, you wont get it now.
bcoz there is no custom ROM for it. developers are working hard to get it. so you need to wait for some time.
rooting is absolutely safe if you follow each step carefully.
i will recommend you to use this guide. Link
hope you succeed!

[Q] how can i not root froyo?

i get conflicting advice re: rooting froyo,i rooted my galaxy s 2.1 eclair no problem with z4 root, but the htc seems a laborious process for such a bad phone,i only want to root it to speed it up from 523mhz to 733mhz,is it worth the trouble?or should i just give it to my girlfriend cos the internal memory is shocking in this day and age and that is with apps2sd installed,dissappointed..........
yes you can't
Why would you want to use the Wildfire as your primary phone when you have a Galaxy S in not understandable. (Only reason I see you want a 'small' phone). BTW, Froyo Apps2SD sucks. You need something like DTApps2SD which is 'true' Apps2SD. (That again requires root and a Custom ROM supporting it though)
Anyway, as already said, Froyo cant be rooted by software solutions. Only way is to get it done is getting it S-OFF using a XTC Clip box then using the Unrevoked method after downgrade.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App-my sgs is a bit schizo + need help restoring it back to some sort of usable state-tries flashing it via odin but whatever I done it wouldn't connect to any network at all + before it was flashed it was sim free,unlocked...any advice?
HAHAHAHAHA, I love the "If it doesn't do what I want, I'll just give it to my girlfriend " approach xD

[Q] general help and understanding

I will soon be getting a samsung galaxy g4 32gb phone from att. I want to know the best way to root it and remove the bloatware mainly att stuff, without bricking or messing up the phone. I love the ability to root i did with my on sony xperia play. Unfornately the last phone i had a lg optimus g crash and burn after rooting and trying to remove bloatware. So I want to make sure I have no problems. I heard it was easy and simple to do with a galaxy line but i just don't want to mess it up i can afford buying new phones.
thanks

Bet you're not on mk2 firmware, I bet he is. Chainfire isn't going to work.

Root alone doesn't block the OTA. In fact, going from MF3 to MK2, you could first root with jortex's method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387577) and enable survival mode. Then after the OTA, you will still have root.

If you're using supersu there is a full unroot method in the apps settings. Look there.

I rooted that phone with kingo root through the computer. Bloatware on the I removed bloatware with ROM toolbox pro however when trying to do ota update it looked for the bloatware and when it didn't find it ota failed. (looked that up in the failed log - hung on not finding chaton) flashed mk2 rom then only froze the bloatware. have to see if the next update will fail I don't think it will though because when I only froze bloatware on mf3 I did get the mj9 ota update successfully
