[MOD][VGA][06/09/2010] Sense 2.5.20182814/2.5.20183025 - Windows Mobile

Description
This is a VGA port of Sense 2.5.20182814.0 from Oboe 1.03 ROM.
On how to cook it, I hope that someone could come up with a tutorial. Anyway, the Core package is configured to show Twitter and Stock tabs. So, you can cook in with previous version of the packages.
Regarding EXT packages, you can use the one I posted in the 2016 (VGA) thread as I include the separate package for VGA. Also, you can easily port the XML files using XmlGui (see my signature).
Sense 2.5.20182814 VGA packages
24/08/2010: Programatix Sense 2.5.20182814 VGA (CFC)
Drag-to-remove feature in Home and Internet tabs for landscape is not working correctly.
The combobox component is still WVGA.
Settings tab is not ported because it has some extra settings which are not supported by most VGA devices. If I port it, I need to do extra work just to remove the extra settings.
Sense 2.5.20183025 VGA packages
06/09/2010: Sense 2.5.20183025 VGA (ported by abrasive)
Mods
24/08/2010: Internet Tab icons and People Icons (CFC)
Tools
26/08/2010: CFC Tool - I created 2 batch files for CFC operation. See screenshot inside the zip on where to place the files and how to use them. (Thanks to chainfire for cfc.exe)
Note: The batch files are tools to CFC/unCFC the manila files only. Please also make sure that all files have their read-only, system and hidden attributes removed. You still have to manually add the 2 dll files required for CFC support and patch manila.exe and mode9.exe to use them.

me too Again thanks programatix for your great effort

heyy programmitx, other than the tabs you already ported, i'm just curious if we could use the older 2016 port on the rest of the 2018 packages that get released. I dont care if landscape works or not, not sure if any other changes have taken place from 2016 to 2018

hi programatix, almost everything seems to work fine, congratulations for your job. can i ask you a favour? i'd like to adjust the alignment of some home tab elements:
- "Call History" button in portrait mode is a little too high
- "Call History" button in landscape mode a little too low
(probably 1 or 2 pixels misalignment between call history and date for both)
-"Alarm Off" (or alarm hour if enabled) text is a little too high (overlapping the clock minutes tabs)
can you please tell me what are the values to look for? is 22e41977_manila the right file to look into? thanks a lot!

Dual sim fixes
I am sure you already saw these fixes for the Message and People tab (related to dual sim) from mobileunderground:
For Message Tab:

For People Tab:
http://www.mobileunderground.info/showthread.php?t=94&p=50727#post50727
Anyway we can use also the 2016 packages...i think for example that Core 2018 is more important that these 2 tab packages...
There is also Manila 20182814 from Oboe 1.03:

Mod to exclude HTC Messaging Client?
I would LOVE to exclude Messaging Client from my ROMs, if possible. I know with the 2012 port, there were a couple of different options that allowed me to exclude the HTC Messaging from my ROM (TMartin, kimi), but using those mods now break scrolling in my Manila SMS thread (and cause some other side effects). I know as the Sense versions get newer, the dependency on the Messaging Client increases (unfortunately), but I was hoping some genius could create a mod that would allow us to use the Classic Manila Messaging without any negative side effects?
I'm also having an issue with the RSS Feed where it only gives me the "Welcome" feed, even after I've selected & refreshed the feeds. I think, though, that this is related to the version of RSS Hub that I'm using (I was using an older OBOE version - I'm about to try a newer one now). Hopefully that corrects the issue there.

That key, of course already exists, as I am using RSS Hub from the Oboe.
Using a newer Oboe version of RSS Hub seems to have fixed the problem. Looking good!

I have noticed this as well. We need a HTCMessaging Client-less version of 2018 with a Twitter Tab because the scrolling for it is all messed up.

Attached is the package I just dumped from Oboe_Dopod_CHS_1.03.706.0_Debug ROM. You'll need to get 0409 (if WWE) and maybe change/import it into an EXT if you're kitchen uses those.

If I'm not mistaken, it is caused by the Core package... because I've tried cooking in both original Core and People and I get the same result. Then I tried People from 2016 and I still get the same result.

I noticed someone has posted a supposed Touch Pro 2 Calculator .cab:
http://mylostblog.altervista.org/software/freeware/per-htc/htc-freeware-htc-calculator-esclusiva. It looks great other than it is a huge install and it only works on WVGA. Looking at the cab file, there appears to be an XML file which skins the app. I'm throwing down the gauntlet to see who can first adjust all the layout so it fits on a VGA screen.
Also, I notice some images are .bmp and some are .png, so for extra credit see if you can convert all of them to .png and maybe save some space. I'm gonna look into this myself, but I know someone else can beat me to completing this.
P.S. - Not sure if you'll have to resize the button graphics to fit, or if the w/h parameters in the layout xml will do that for you on load.

I've done it (before reading this thread). But I don't know how to create cabs.
I resized the buttons (both portrait and landscape) and updated the coordinates and dimensions in the file "CalculatorMain_NoImgPkg.xml" (installed in the \Windows folder).
And also, I don't like all these small bmp files in my windows folder, so I moved the whole bunch to "\storage card\program files\htccalc"
I attach the buttons in a zip file, and the converted xml (also zipped).
This is not much use for most of you, but could be a good base for a VGA version.
"Installation":
1. install the original mylostblog version
2. delete the calc_*.bmp files from your windows folder
3. create the folder "htccalc" under "program files" in your storage card
4. unzip "buttons.zip" into the "htccalc" folder
5. replace "CalculatorMain_NoImgPkg.xml" in "\Windows" with the attached "CalculatorMain_NoImgPkg.xml"
To get to the scientific version slide out the keyboard or use a screen rotation utility.

Same launch as the others-- open SIP keyboard while launching. The sure fire way is on Today->Items, open SIP keyboard before checking TF3D. Let's see if others can modify it faster than xboxmod (I'm busy with my ROM this will take take to resize)
EDIT: this is an OEM, not a cab, if you don't know what to do with it, then...
EDIT 2: this has not been resized, it's in CFC form, this came from the Dutty dump coming from SatScan.
Welcome to the EzInput 2.0 Keyboard Suite project.
Ok, the time has come.
HTC has rushed to prepare a pre-release of its EzInput 2.0 technology just in time for the MWC in Barcelona, and we have it here ready for our tweaks, hacks and workarounds.
These are the new layouts - only Phone Keypad and Full Qwerty, this time.
The first two Beta cabs are ready for download, but beware, this is just for experienced users only.
As you'll see, the known issues are a bit annoying, especially if compared to what we're accustomed to with the 1.5 release.
But that said, the huge use of .xml configuration files will probably mean a quite easily customizable experience for all the known form factors.
Sadly, it seems that although the .xml configuration files might be ok, the keyboard in its current form presents too many bugs to be acceptable for a day-to-day use.
Feel free to make your tests and prepare your cabs and packages. A better release will arrive as soon as the first Rhodium and Topaz phones will be ready for prime time...

Known Issues
Availability of Keypad Layout.
The Keypad layout is available and working, but not selectable using the settings or the old Input Panel.
To select it, you have to use the new SipMenu, included in cab B1.1 and above.
Only the newer phones from HTC can use the SipMenu (Elfin, Diamond, Raphael, Opal, Jade, Blackstone, Iolite).
The layout can be forced - in Portrait mode - using the registry.
Languages Availability and Selection.
Not all languages are available on the pre-release rom.
The Beta1 cab includes English, German, French, Italian and Spanish.
There's no way to select them using the standard Input Panel.
To select it, you have to use the new SipMenu, included in cab B1.1 and above.
Only the newer phones from HTC can use the SipMenu (Elfin, Diamond, Raphael, Opal, Jade, Blackstone, Iolite).
The old Language Packs made for V1.5 are *NOT* compatible with V2.0.
It seems that the main language can be forced through a registry setting, but it has not yet been verified.
Landscape mode keys don't work as expected.
In Landscape mode, a few keys don't seem to work at all.
The .xml layout definition files seem to be ok, so this might be a bug in the code.

[APP]UPDATED VERSION HTC Album Version 3.0.1911.1826 from TP2 (MADE VGA)
In other news here is the HTC ALBUM Version 2.5.1820.4127 and 3.0.1911.1826. the only thing i see different is 2.5 version does have Album Social Networking and it works with FOOTPRINTS. 3.0 is truely from TP2 and doesn't support footprints. other than that it moves quicker than other albums. this is all i can see that is different. (THANKS TO CONFLIPPER FOR THE CORRECTIONS)
to use it with FOOTPRINTS with version 2.5 you must have it installed already. When you click on a picture that has gps lat and long cordinates in it select menu and scroll down. under save to contacts you will see 2 blanked out lines. the one under save contacts opens google maps while the one under that one opens up footprints.
Version 2.5.1820.4127 that works with footprints, you can download from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ynjlvtjawvc

I guess there has been a bit of misunderstanding... The merge idea is great, but we should make it gradually...
Let's wait for Ameet to be back logged in...
Having all the links in one place is good idea but deleting the original threads is bad. Now it's not possible to share information, experiences and etc in an easy manner.

Yes, a better idea would be to use a main thread to post the download links, and separate threads for the ongoing discussions... trying to follow posts regarding each package would be overwhelming, in a single merged thread...

I'm pretty stuck upgrading my rom to the new Manila core so many ppl are asking here in forum.
Many chefs included these Manila versions but I'm having a very hard time patching it to my liking so I wonder how you guys patched it?
Or maybe you didn't patch it at all and the functions I mention below just don't work in your rom?
Or maybe you are using a Manila which you don't need to patch at all and all these functions work default?
I'm no Manila expert but I tried to mix the Manila packages to get it working but no joy untill now.
Maybe someone knows how to fix the homebutton how Hank2 did on HTC Blackstone?
I tried to fix it using the files from Dopod Manila into Topaz Manila but it just doesn't work.
Also mixing packages doesn't work because the Core files are different.
I can't find any topics about it so I taught lets ask so we can improve Manila together so we have a good upgraded standard?
Maybe I'm the only Manila nOOb on this forum?
Here are the differences I discovered:
Dopod_Manila_Core_2_5_20112328_0
Cons:
No stock tab
No Twitter
Topaz Manila_Core_2_5_20113030_0
Cons:
Hardware homebutton doesn't work
No Footprints
Correct me if I'm wrong.
It would be great to have all HD2 standards in rom, Footprints plus stock tab plus Homebutton working, anyone is willing to coloborate?
Anyway I'm going to investigate more and hopefully find something I can share with you.
Thanks.
As promised and a thank you for your help here's my New Manila with FULL Dependencies to use in your kitchen.
It supports full landscape and has a Twitter and Footprints tab added.

Sure please.
Thanks for your help guys, I just figured it out myself after a couple of days searching.
The Manila I will use you can find in this Russian shipped rom shared here thanks to t0mmyr:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628995&page=2
It contains Dopod_Manila_Core_2_5_20112328_0 plus working homebutton.
Offcourse you need the 0409 muis as well as it contains 0804.
Only the Twitter tab is missing, so to add more tabs you need to edit this manila file with a tekst editor:
26948339_manila
It contains the tab settings
If you want and all is working fine I can upload the Manila for you later.
Cheers and thanks for your help.

These are the manila packs i used. mostly from the latest TOPAZ ROM
exept doc explorer from 2.01 and footprints is from 1.66 if i remember correctly
EDIT:might be a few errors to sort out still !!!
I haven't any issue with buttons using manila from topaz 2.54
If you didn't modify something I'm 100% sure you have a issue only didn't notice it yet.
Scroll the manila tab to settings and now press the hardware homebutton.
It won't bring you to home.

the only problem i have now is manila freezes in the document tab sometimes after i have selected a document, but then sometimes it works fine, anyone have any ideas??
Thanks for sharing. I tried with only the packages you uploaded all the rest are from 2.02 Test. I seem to get lock ups everywhere. I was going to try to turn off the documents tab but it locks up when going into the menu, Settings page and more. I also found it strange but the music tab rotates but not photos tab.
Are you using some of the other support packages from the new ROM?
at the moment ive got all 1.66 packages apart from the ones in the package, document explorer is the only lock up im getting, im gonna take it out and see if sense is stable... the tab rotation is known issue. there is a fix for it around, where have u been experiencing the lock ups??
Can you make the Twitter tab rotate to?
Did you modify the tabs with the Manila file I suggested?
Currently I have Topaz Manila 2.5.20113030.0 running, pretty stable with added Footprints tab.
Also the homebutton is working great with the reg you suggested.
The only issue I'm facing is the Footprints tab sometimes resets Manila.
I will investigate more this afternoon.
Edit;
Just a taught, maybe it's HTCFramework you need from the T-Mob rom to fix freeze with doc tab?

Removing Manila in osKitchen

I've been playing around with oskitchen building my first ROM. I've been searching like crazy and can't find the answers I need. Since this is my first attempt at cooking I'm modding the stock AT&T Tilt2 ROM (21849) from the HTC website and have a couple questions..
1. I only use Titanium and don't want Manila cooked into the ROM. I've found Manila_ATT_2_1_19183217_0 in the EXT tab of oskitchen and unchecked the box. Is this all I have to do to keep Manila from being cooked in?
2. This stock ROM has NETCF 2.0 in the SYS and I'd like to replace it with 3.5. How would I do that? Rip a 3.5 folder out of another build and place it in my SYS folder?
3. I recmodded the packages as instructed in this post in the kitchen thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5714524&postcount=439
are there any other dll folders I need to recmod?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1- Exactly.
2- Exactly. Or just find a NETCF package. I've seen it somewhere.
3- No, if you have native 6.5 NK And tilt2 has it. Also search for it somewhere and rapleace it in your kitchen. (if it is not here already) (Assuming you want to use 6.5 builds, otherwise simply ignore this.)
Thanks a lot for the info! Getting close to cooking this thing. Yes, I'm using 6.5 and osKitchen tells me that it is a native kernel.
I found this post...
http://www.mobileunderground.info/showthread.php?t=3841
and was wondering if it was safe to de-select any of the packages listed there that are dependent on Manila, since Manila is not going to be installed on my ROM. I am checking to see which manila-dependent packages in my build correspond to ones on that list. So far the ones I am unsure of are..
Contact Utility Engine
HTCFontLink
NewContactCard
Any others I can safely remove? Also going through and removing HTC apps/utilities I don't use. Its a PITA searching for these individually so i can find out what they do.. I started this thing over a week ago lol. So far I've removed..
SignatureReplace - sigs in email and messages
Redial - used for redialing through BT headset
PTT - safe to remove?
MenuEnhancement - from what I gather is for the fullscreen menus..
LockscreenAppLauncher (removing this will keep the WM lockscreen?)
HACSetting - for hearing impaired people
FullScreenPlayer - for use with htc album
FacebookEngine - for Manila
Audio Manager
Album - HTC Album
App_Service
Oh yea... and how do I determine the page pool size?
Thanks for any and all info.

Baby steps lol. I'm new to this cooking thing so I wanted to start off modding the ROM it came with since I've been using it for a while and I have a decent idea of what I want changed. I have a lot to learn and I also wanted to know I wouldn't miss on anything carrier specific for my phone, keyboard and other features to work.. I have downloaded this file which is I believe the RhodS2 you are referring to..

I want to get comfortable working with things first. When I finish this ROM I'll start playing with that one. My Tilt2 is my only phone other than some POS SciPhone i68+ I have laying around so if I mess it up I'm up the creek lol. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions. I'm sure I'll have some more soon

HTC Home Customizer?

Is there something like the old HTC Home Customizer that will work for the Touch Pro2? I've spent the last hour wading through this forum trying to find a way to replace the awful, 1970's flippy clock with a simple digital clock.

If Sense == Manila, then the programs mentioned are of no help. I have Manila 2.1, and already screwed up the phone once trying to use a 2.5 program.
I hope someone doesn't chime in "Well just flash a new ROM." Unless someone can show me a compelling reason, (and a detailed list of the changes it would introduce), I'm not interested in doing that.

Manila Sense 2.1 / 2.5 *Updated March 11, 2010*
looks fairly simple:
-Steps for Sense 2.5 2012 Installation (INSTALL ALL TO DEVICE MEMORY):
1. Install .net 3.5
2. Install SDKCerts
3. Disable Auto Phone Shutoff:
-If on battery power: Settings\System\Power\Advanced and uncheck Turn off device if not used for
-If on external power: Settings\System\Power\Advanced and uncheck Turn off device if not used for
4. Disable TF3D 2.0 (Go to Start/Settings/Today/Items and uncheck HTC Sense or TF3D)
5. Soft Reset
6. InstallSense 2.5 2012 CFC / Sense 2.5 2012 CFC Mirror (CFC Compressed and includes all fixes. Once settled in, it runs very well! It also includes some new tabs and many tweaks/goodies! Plus, the multimedia key is now mapped to rotate the screen)
7. Soft Reset
8. Once everything is loaded and stable:
Enable Auto Phone Shutoff:
-If on battery power: Settings\System\Power\Advanced and check Turn off device if not used for
-If on external power: Settings\System\Power\Advanced and check Turn off device if not used for

My issue with flashing ROMS isn't difficulty, it's having a definitive reason to do so, and finding a clear description of the changes in the ROM.
Thanks for the tip on installing manila 2.5. Didn't know that could be done. But looking at a comparison of 2.1 and 2.5, I don't see an advantage, and see a couple of disadvantages.

There is an EVO ROM that has a customizer built in by the cook. I used that ROM for a little while, but really like the customizer, you could change the flip clock, analog clock, clock background, font and other things. This was a really nice feature. I have searched for an add-on or standalone app that I could install that would do this as well. Customizing is the main thing we are ALL trying to do here.
Anybody had any luck with this?!

OBOE people tab and facebook

I am having a problem getting the facebook tab under contacts and 'All People' to work with Manila People v2.5.20213624.0 from the newest OBOE rom. I've changed the registry (enabled facebook and made sure it was not hidden) and the update tab shows. When I go to it, it acts fine. When I leave that tab, sense freezes. Does anyone know what needs to be done to get it to work?
I did use the new Contact Utility Engine from the OBOE rom, but I haven't had a chance to re-cook with a LEO version to see if that could be a problem. If anyone knows how to get it to work, I'd appreciate some help as it would save me some time . Thanks.

I'm using social media from leo 3.14 rom. I think it can work, because nrg has it working in his rom which says it uses Manila People v2.5.20213624.0. However, when I compared the *_manila files from his ROM to those in the Manila People v2.5.20213624.0 I dumped, there are many (non-qtc) differences in many of the xml and some lua/mode9 files...so I don't know if he is using a combination of files or what.
Hi,
Hope it helps a bit.
I'm using the following packages from latest 1.18 Oboe rom
Manila_Core_2_5_20212114_0
Manila_Home_2_5_20222519_0
Manila_Internet_2_5_20203829_0
Manila_Music_2_5_20173722_0
Manila_Photo_2_5_20182926_1
I've combined them with:
Manila Twitter v2.5.20172330.0
Manila Mail v2.5.20163325.0
Manila Message v2.5.20182218.0
Manila People v2.5.20173126.0
Manila Settings v2.5.20171926.0
Manila Stock v2.5.20174019.0
Manila_Calendar_2_5_20183614_0
Social network I'm using is:
Social Networks Engine v1.1.20182024.00
Contact utility engine I shouldn't use from HTC Oboe as I think it has configuration for dual sim unless you modify.
I use Contact_Utility_Engine v1.2.20183320.00
Offcourse I modify 26948339_manila to have all tabs.

Thanks Laurentius26. I thought there might be an easy way to get it to work, but that doesn't look like the case. Since nrg's ROM worked and said it included Manila People v2.5.20213624.0 in the MASD, I thought it would be possible. I compared several of files from his ROM, and they are all from Manila People v2.5.20173126.0 (leo 3.14). It looks like he just changed the MASD or mixed/matched them, but it is certainly not the complete Manila People v2.5.20213624.0 package from OBOE.
I remember having that problem too once. It was fixed by re-enabling the Facebook Engine v1.1.x package. I don't know sure if Social Network Engine does the same. Actually, I don't think so, because I need them both to get it working properly.

Yeah, both packages are required for facebook integration in a ROM. The problem is definitely in the Manila People package from Oboe ROM. Everything works fine if I just replace the Oboe Manila People package with one from a Leo ROM.
Now I'm curious.

Yeah, for manila message I use a fix to get rid of the dual sim stuff (G+C). One file is mode9 manila that I deleted all of the stuff referencing dual sim and another file was posted a long time ago by indagroove (I think) and it's a lua messaging manila file (I assume it's probably from an older manila from Leo or similar device). I haven't noticed anything wrong with Manila_Mail, though I haven't really messed with it yet.
I've attached the OEM fix I use for the message tab. I also do not use HTC Messaging Client since it does not work well for my phone, so I do not know if the fix I use will interfere with anything.
Not that it's totally relevant, but I'm sticking with People 2012. It's still the only one that doesn't cause a lag on the slider when starting off from the People tab. I don't see any new features in People 2021 that would make the switch and slider lag worth it.
Thank you very much
I've updated both packages and all seems ok.

I'm using all the manila packages except manila people from oboe 1.18, ofcourse regs and CG fix, the manila people from oboe isn't usable, it will cause the all contacts and other pages freeze after a call or receiving a call. The contact engine and new contact card also not usable, the issue is you can't add a new contact card. HTC messaging client is also not usable. all other seems to work well except those device specific packages, like settings improvements, it causes issue like IME not displayed, wallpaper for start menu cannot be changed etc... but the stock Leo one also cause issues for com3 build, but huashan Settings Improvement v1.0.20183810.0 works very well.
Perhaps those unusable packages can be tweaked or modified to make it work, but I don't think it will make any difference.
The new manila weather has better performance, also a bit change in graphics.

IDS_ALLPEO_BACKUP
IDS_ALLPEO_SIMINFO
How are you translating/removing them?

I'm not using Manila_People_v2_5_20213624_0 anymore because I cannot get it to work with facebook integration (which I want to use). I am just using the latest Manila People from a Leo ROM. To remove or translate that menu, you can edit People_Pages.xml (fine those lines and either translate or just delete them) and put it in \Windows\ManilaXml. I did this to remove the 'lunar calendar' option in the calendar tab by editing Calendar_Pages.xml.
The latest manila music from oboe is more stable than the leo one, but does not have the option of download album art from gracenote, I solve it by replacing the AudioManagerService.dll and xml from leo.

Both Contact Utility Engine v1.2.20202525.00 and New Contact Card v1.1.20211614.0 work ok on my rhodium. I can add a new contact through the sense interface with no problems.

Please share some knowledge on how to make it work on Leo.
Thanks in advance.

I only have a Rhodium, but I wouldn't think it would be device dependent. I can add a contact by going to 'all people', menu, new contact, choose contacts or sim, and then fill in the info. The contact is then added displays fine in the 'all people' tab. Where are you having trouble?

I am using the latest Leo version because it's the latest one that supports facebook without needing to modify anything (other then registry entries in core 2.5.2021).
I've attached my MASD so you can see what versions of things I am using.
