Nevermind, after three days of google and trying many different programs, it seems apk manager is the best solution.

It's in framework-res.apk, if you don't find it in /data... I ran the apk through APK Manager - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701&highlight=[TOOL] myself. You can also do it more 'manually', of course.
Thanks

Use astro. It's free in the market and can handle zip files.

Changing app named

I downloaded a calculator app and would like to replace the stock one with this one. Can I change the app name so it will be in the same order as the stock one? Also if I can where would I look for the app to rename it? I use root explorer for my file manager. Rooted no roms or themes

Trying for answer again.

Or just delete the stock one and then rename your desired app as whatever you want called

In root explorer... go to system.... app... scroll to desired app.. long click it to bring up a menu to do what you need.

actually im pretty sure you would have to unpack it and rename the activity name in an xml file but im not totally sure on that

If you search the VillainRom thread you will see that this is a common problem with the stock browser.
Most people are using another browser such as Opera Mobile.

Using root explorer.

Easy fix is to install "Download All Files" from the market. Works great

Or you can use ASTRO Explorer and look inside the Preferences for a feature to Download All Files.
Xmoo can you please explain in a bit more detail how did you change lib file in root explorer to enable stock browser downloading.I tried downloadallfiles app from market and astro but still can't download some apk and zip files from filesonic servers,it just gets useless htm file
I would have breakfast first... Flashing roms at dawn will ruin your sleep cycle..
