It is very broken as most of us who have it know. No Google Earth, many apps closing for no apparent reason, etc. I was wondering if there is anything out there to R00T or Upgrade to 2.1 OTA/2.2 FroYo ?

You're an idiot. If you spent even 5 minutes browsing these boards you would have seen over 9000 threads pertaining to this. Which leak version are you on? Do you even know? Search for V3 leak and install it, its the same as the OTA update and fixes a lot of bugs from the first leak. and no you can't root.
And trust me, you're not just annoying abn75 and I. I'm sure most of the leakers are even sick of these f*cking threads.
d00d, its pretty bad when WalkingTaco is right.
To get information/status on root read the official root status thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=666759&page=12
leakers will get the OTA by 5/24 (quoting the VERY UNRELIABLE VZW twitter support)
I don't think the eris will ever get official froyo but for people with root there is already a froyo ROM based off 2.2 SDK, it is buggy and slow but will get much better when the source code for froyo is released.
I'm sure most of the leakers are even sick of these f*cking threads.

Man the question has been answered in every single thread and post about this subject. As soon as someone figures out how to root the leak, or update the leak it will be posted all over the place. Asking every single day, multiple times does not make the devs want to work on it any faster, nor will it force vzw to possibly release a update for the leaks any faster. The devs get tired of being bugged about the status of the leak, so asking them over and over and over again may actually cause them to stop working on it completely. And as for vzw, well I think we know where they stand.
lol .. sorry but i gotta agree with walking_taco and kevlar...im not on leak but i still take the time to read before posting maybe instead of posting a question that has been answered in atleast 9000 other posts, maybe u could have used half the time it took you to write the ? and answered it for yourself and not have to listen to ppl ***** about u asking a previously answered question.. these forums and threads are here for a reason and there is soooooo much information you can find out by just taking the time to read.. and the devs on here as well as the members are very helpful if you can just take the time to help yourself as well.. im not trying to be an (_0_) but just pointing out some facts is all..

Oh I was generally sorry, excuse me for causing you distress as well. I am quite sure I am on V1 as I downloaded it the day the leak came out. But thank you for helping WalkingTaco. I did not know about further leaks as I was not a part of this board until today, just kinda lurked whenever Gizmodo or Engadget linked here.
Thank you again for your assisstance, I truly appreciate it.
are the two updates leak V3 and the OTA the same?
from what i have read in posts concerning v3 and ota, my understanding on it is that they are identical and feel free to correct me if this information is wrong.. also from what i have read, if you do have leak you will not be able to get the ota update which i dont see as a problem due to the similiarities.. anyway please feel free to correct me if any of this info is wrong.

from the looks of the t-mobile calender it seems that slide owners should hopefully be getting the 2.2 update in late july.
it could however be a hundred other things but considering this is the only marked timeline for an update on the slide, my best guess is that its froyo and then shortly after the OG mytouch will get an update as well.
it could also be an update in preperation for the 2.2 update.
i figured it was post worthy and i thought id share the news
Thanks for posting. Saw the roadmap somewhere, but didnt notice it had planned updates on it as well. Really hope they stick to this plan.
Cant wait for froyo. However Im sick of Sense and just wish I could root and get rid of it already.
I called t-mobile today to deal with something and the person I talked to said we were getting an update this week of somesort. Don't know if its 2.2 or not. I doubt it is.

Never again samsung, not even with a quad core 2Ghz cpu! At least Motorola is communicating about the update with its customers! My wife has the Cliq too and she actually doesn't mind 1.5. I tried to convince her to let me root and rom it for her but she wants to wait for OTA.

mine was the same way with her BH2 when we both had them and Eugene started putting out the ROMs that made the phone bearable... until I showed her that I had Nav and how the a2sd worked. after that she was hooked as soon as we got our Espressos she was on the boards 3-4 times a day looking for someone to crack root, hell she's tried out more ROMs than me now
I hope it is froyo or at least an announcement of it thanks for the update I saw the road map the day it was leaked but didn't notice the mytouch slide update thanks again

Hey guys. I am new to Android development, but I noticed that Froyo is coming out in waves in a few days. I also noticed that Sprint is letting us manually check for updates. So my question is: Because of the possibility of them plugging holes in rooting, etc., should we update, or stick with 2.1 for now? Thanks.
Welcome to the forum! It is safe to use the rooted 2.2 ROMs from here. Don't install the HTC/Sprint OTA update if you want to keep root or root in the future.
Froyo poyo. Ok this is the way I see it. I have 2.1 with 55fps and 4g wifi tethering. Froyo omg really 40mflops and 1200 quadrant score, wow. But only 30fps, setcpu not working correctly, no 4g tethering, and will have issues for let's just say until HTC releases the kernal. Then and only then will froyo be worth it in my opinion. Then the devs here will be able to get 55 fps and 4g wifi back.
Froyo faster and stripped - Eclair slower but everything working.

SetCPU does work, as does wifi and usb tethering, oh and the 30FPS cap is broken too. Search for a different kernel you obviously can't overclock the stock one.

Dave sweet then please let me know how and where you got the 4G 4G wifi tethering working because I love it. Wait did I say 4G? lol jk dave. Yes I can get 55 fps but it breaks the camera. Unless once again you found a new kernal that I have not seen. Yes setcpu works, my bad. I just want and need 4G wifi tethering and 55fps.
yesterday morning I was prompted for two updates. I got all excited and thought it was Froyo, but it wasn't. What were those two updates? radio? Did everybody else got those two update prompts?
thanks.
I have kept my EVO stock so far, and decided to install the Froyo update when I saw it on Engadget. Really wish I hadn't. This thing is buggy. Definitely still usable, and I dont mind bugs; but for those of you who want stability, WAIT for HTC's final build of this update.

Final build is in 3 days don't think much will change if anything. Anytime something is "so called" leaked every company always say "don't download or may not be final". The goal here was to beat Verizon and Motorola to the launch by as many days as possible. I think sprint handshake with HTC had something to do with it. One days its announced OTA will be released in 5 days the next day its on the companies website.
About two weeks ago my rooted evo stopped being able to connect to 4g. I am located in NYC. Can some please help me. I did hard resets and nothing changes; if I click 4g widget it can never connect and tends to drain battery really fast. Sprint techs over the phone couldn't fix it < but who isn't shocked about that. Anyway I really appreciate if anyone can really help me.
thanks

I have a epic and last wednesday my 4g stopped working, at first it just seemed to work for cretin sites like google and sprint then eventually no sites work on 4g. it gets a mac address but nothing works... as you said can't expect much for the tech support over the phone so i'm going to take into a repair center today... if they can't fix it... they will replace it hopefully .... i have insurance so i should be fine... but on top of the sudden 4g issues PRL and Profile updates never work... so we will see what they do... hopefully i'll get a brand new phone but if not.. i honestly don't care at this point... i just want everything to work again :/ oh i forgot to mention i ported my number a few days earlier so ... ill be curious to see if sprint says that had anything to do with it...
You deano are an asshole. You are the reason the forum is crowded.. Try helping if possible instead of wasting useful space. [Two to be exact]
You are also the reason the epic forums are **** compared to the likes of the Evo section.
Anyways to OP. I had evo from launch to 11/8
Rarely can I remember not being able to connect to 4g often
But it happens sometimes. It happens a lot on my 2.2 epic.
On 2.1 it worked really well.
To my belief, I do not think its a network issue, but radio issue
Try upgrading your wimax radio to the latest, also pri, prl and nv
Surprised I emember all that but flash those and check your outcome.
There should be stickies there hosting the files.

Was using EF02 , old news I know, but updated to EF10 without removing root and I am seeing a big difference between the two all ready. I have noticed that with the browser there are no checker boards coming up. Its a smooth zoom in and out. Everything is a lot more snappier at that. No GPS problems like I was having on EF02 and battery life is the same though no difference there. I cant find any bugs that I know. Did not see a thread on how the EF10 was doing but everything is great on this side, and cant wait for the final update.

Just for clarification, or builds are read like this. First letter is the year, second is the month, and the 2 numbers represent the day of that month it was finished on.
E=2011
C=March
05= 5th of March.
And
E=2011
F=June
10=10th of June

well now that the evo 3d is out the refresh of the epic will still make the epic a piece of **** phone. The epic should be a flag ship phones. It should have duel or quad cores, 3d cams, 4gb or 16gb internal storage and sd card as well. Now sprint went with the epic from flag ship to mid range piece of crap.
