OK, against my first inital gut feeling I tried to apply the lag fix and something went terribly wrong. I got Fc's all over that place and none of my apps will work.
I can get into recovery, but I cant get to my nandroid, or dont know how too.
I am trying to figure out how to use odin, just to start all over, but I cant seem to get the phone in downloader mode. How can I get this phone back to stock?
any help will be appreciated.
found the way to get into download mode. tryn to do the rest. just needed to read some more
I got it back to stock. just needed to step away for a bit and keep reading. sorry for the post
No worries. Freaking out a bit about potentially hosing your phone is understandable.

I'm very torn. I have been using a myTouch for the past year and loved it. The guys in the G1 forum have been awesome and my phone was modded about as extreme as possible.
But now I have this beauty. Its so pretty and runs so smooth out of the box. Do I root right away or enjoy the bloatware for a bit?
Anything I should check out right away?
do whatever you want to. can't go wrong either way. (rooting is extremely easy)
There is an awesome sticky at the top of this forum. I suggest you start there

Thanks!
PS: I'm no stranger to rooting. I played with the bloated stuff for a solid half hour. I'm over it now.

Just picked mine up today. Had a mytouch 3G rooted the day I got it. Did the same with my new beast! Played with it stock for a few hours and then rooted!

I too just picked up a Vibrant today. Coming from a Sprint HTC Hero. Haven't rooted yet. Will be in the next couple of days. Loving the phone so far.
good to see folks switching over
And I think I already borked it. Did I do something bad if when installing clockwork, I chose to partition?
After the boot logo, I just get a black screen. I even tried Odin and that didn't work???
You're not supposed to partition with clockwork. When u do that ur partitioning, ur partitioning internal and not SD card. There's a thread about it for a brick. Find it.

Thanks! I foung the thread. I'll give it a whirl when I get home.
Hands free activation is timing out and not working. I programmed my # and msid manually, so there's no need for this **** to keep popping up and running in the background.. is there something specific I need to do to kill this?
Well, ****, it worked when I turned on Wi-Fi!
let the activation go through it should ask you to reboot or just stop
you can always root and remove it...idk what apk it uses
what about flashing your phone with stock?
I am having this problem too. Sorry if this is thread resurrection.
It would seem that unlike the Hero, it is not omadm.apk (not present).
Ressurection of old threads is the third leading cause of male rabbit impotency.

People on XDA make absolutely no god damn sense. If a user ressurects an old thread you give him **** for it. If he posts a new thread you give him **** for posting a thread that already exists. Aka people on XDA seem to find ways to act like dicks no matter what people do.

This has been answered time and time again, nonetheless someone else is going to ask in the future, I just hope they google this and end up reading the solution on this thread.
To "disable" hands-free activation (handy for those on alternate carriers) UNINSTALL systemupdates.apk
Yes, you need to be rooted. Yes you need a root uninstall app to remove it. Yes, you can use a rooted file manager and manually remove it.

Find root uninstaller in the android market, look under the system apps, it'll be in red. It'll look like a green circular icon with a white check in the middle.
Also, I believe it's in system/app

No prob, and yeah, I had another thread stating that newer builds had it renamed. Even the original epic has the apk renamed from leaked FB15 and onwards to devicemanagement.apk as you said.

My only question is about the drivers it takes to run odin as I'm buying a laptop next week and I think it would be a good idea to set it up

You just need to make sure you have your Samsung USB Drivers and as far as I know that should be enough. Might need busybox and ADB as well but not sure about that. Check out the Odin tutorials on this forum.
yeah the usb drivers is that in odin or a separate download I'm on my phone now and the search in the mobile app is not accurate a lot

Well I bricked my vibrant after trying to do a Nand restore....I was coming from obsidian V3 and going back to Macnut R10....Everything seemed to go great until my vibrant got stuck at a screen that says vibrant for a second then switches right to the Galaxy S GTI9000 screen and then I get nothing afterward....I don't have the 3 button download mode so I can't do an odin restore(and yes I have searched youtube, these forums and several others for answers before asking for help today)....I was thinking about buying that modded micro-usb adaptor to force download mode...Or should I just throw in towel and beg tmo to send me another one? I would love to fix the problem myself but, I really don't see any other way... And now I have to painfully use my JB'd iphone 3G with Edge....Any suggestions folks? Oh and I'm not a rookie...been flashing roms since the G1 (well technically since the tytn) Not a pro....but not a rookie

please read up before you flash anything or do anything else. we don't want another "help i'm bricked!!wtf android suxx!!" thread
I'm taking bets now on how long until he posts in "android development" with the title "I bricked my phone".
I will also take bets on whether or not said phone is actually bricked.
Bricked sounds like a funny word to me...
Actually I've already tried about 4 different ROMs and know how to do it properly so yall can take that and shove it up yalls asses! I didn't join this forum to get hated on, and I sure as Hell don't enjoy it. So, speculate before hate. Thanks!

Did you figure out why it takes up so much space? Downloading Roms take space and so do back ups. Just remember to clear out your clockwordmod download folder every once in awhile.

Hello guys and gals. I'm excited to get my zoom in the mail tomorrow from verizon. So I'm reading up on these forums to understand where everyone is at. I'm asking if any one would would he willing to give a quick check list of first things I should do when I get it. Then I can do some research based on your feed back and get it all set up. Thanks.

Download flash player from the market , then set your browser to on demand in the settings. Get feedly for your google reader or pulse, but I prefer feedly as it's much snapier. Download plume for tablet and friend caster for tablets.

One click is to much steps(irony right?)....
Do the catch recovery before reboot method which is really simple and easy. You get root and recovery at the same time.

Play with your xoom for a while then this. I would install the tiamat rom but I don't want to wipe my xoom.
I've decided to skip roms and tiamat or whatever. Looking at threads some are WiFi version only. Then some are different firmware version. I just want stock Verizon with whatever current version its at instructions. It's just to big of a mess for me to spend time digging through literally hundreds of posts researching on what should be closed threads restarted with fresh instructions. Not 4 month old threads. I'll just root adb, use setcpu, and wait for 3.2 uupdate. Then ill join in since ill know where other people are starting from.
It really is a mess. With my Droid x it was simple. A few ways to gain root and all the Roms nicely laid out ripe for the picking. Instruction clearly labled if you have firmware xxx do this, xxy do this. No wonder people are afraid to root. I am, now.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Ok I can't quit that easy. Looked at xoomforums. I think my whole problem was forum layout. Viewing this forum on their premium app jumbled everything together. Seeing everything laid out rom, kernels, ect, much easier. I'll go with launchpad 1.3 then try tiamat. At least I don't feel lost. As long I'm not browsing through their app.
