Hello everyone. I have tried searching for a fix to this problem on this forum as well as Google but have not found anything. If I overlooked it somehow I apologize in advance.
My Vibrant shows an exclamation point on the top right next to my 16gb SD card icon. I can mount and unmount the card without issues. I can retrieve data, drag & drop as well as access the card without issue. I tried reformatting, shutting the phone down and reinserting the card and nothing seems to help.
I am running everything stock on my Vibrant, no root, themes or mods of any sort. My pc does not have a card reader installed. I do all the formatting through the Vibrant.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

i suspect reason no one has responded is that it's not clear what the problem is -
you indicate "I can retrieve data, drag & drop as well as access the card without issue." which would indicate no problem
assuming you do like i do occasionally, ie speed type, and that the issue you can not retrieve data or drag & drop, one suggestion would be to ask - did you format in the FATS 32 format or NTSC
the samsung requires FATS 32
I just used the Vibrant to format the card so I'm assuming it is FAT 32.
The only problem I have is the exclamation next to the SD card icon on the top right of the screen, aside from that, everything seems to work fine. I just don't know why it's there or if it will cause trouble in the future.
Does it look like a triangle at the home screen? If so, that just means you have debug mode enabled. In general, you want debug mode enabled, because it allows you to connect the phone via ADB and PDAnet. If you want to turn it off, just slide down the notifications and select the exclamation point to turn it off.
There are probably some times you want it off, but I cannot think of any right now.
If this icon is in the notification, what does the notification menu tell you the issue is? I'm also guessing it's the red triangle with ! in it which is the debugging mode on icon.
Here is a screenshot of mine. See the top, left corner.
I do have debugging on but that's not the exclamation I'm worried about. Check out the screen.
That's not your SD, it's your SIM.
According to the manual, that icon "Displays when there is no SIM card in the phone."
I had a similar issue where my SD card & internal store (save for dedicated app space) was unreadable. This is doesn't sound like your issue. But if it is, I had to return the phone. They were very understanding.

Hello,
I own an HTC Touch (Sprint), and the MicroSD card is not being recognized! I have reformatted the card multiple times (Fat32 in both Mac OS X and Windows XP), and both OS's see the card and all it's files fine. On the Touch, however, it is a different story. The phone recognized it fine, but then it started calling it Storage Card 2 (due to mail creating a Storage Card folder for attachments, I'm guessing, so this might not have any relation to the problem). Today, the card just randomly... went away. It stopped showing in File Explorer or any other application, after I opened the Storage Card 2 folder, which opened half-way, then closed. I reinserted the card, and it re-appeared, but when I tried to open it, it disappeared once again, and to never return again. I am now out of ideas. I have tried some registry edits to try to fix this problem, but to no avail.
The device does also not turn on when the card is inserted or removed. Does this mean that the hardware itself maybe to blame?
Any help would be HIGHLY appreciated!
Edit: It seems that the right connectors are not touching, and pushing the card up in a manner that makes them touch allows the device to successfully read the card! Any advice on what to do? Maybe I should add a small amount of tape to make the card thicker?
Edit: The device is now reading the card! I just moved the card up on the left side to make it touch the connectors, and now it seems to be working fine. I removed and re-inserted the card and it still works great.
Thank you,
Derek Wilkinson
Lol! The first thread I've seen answered in the original post! I knew you would find your answer.
Haha, yeah I just kept editing as I went rather than posting more...
But I really was worried that something was shorted, but everything is working fine now
Hello,
since I purchased the HD, every day or so (sometimes more frequently, sometimes less) the SD card disappears (in file explorer list there is no storage card icon, files are not accessible etc.) both when the phone is in stand-by or during normal operation.
To restore working I have to take out and reinsert the card and this is of course quite annoying. I have not noticed any corruption in the files, simply it is as the entire card is not present.
I am running the factory rom but not using TF3D. Did anybody else experience the same? Any possible explanation or is just a problem of faulty phone?
TIA
graz
The only time my Memory Card "disappears" is when I have the USB Cable plugged in from my PC and I select "Disk Mode".
Same for me, the "Disk Mode" gives the PC exclusive access to the SD card, that disappears from the resources accessible directly from the phone, but re-appears as soon as I unplug the usb cable.

Thx for your reply. I am familiar with this, the behaviour I am mentioning occurs randomly, even when phone is in sleep mode (e.g. I push power and no sd card....), writing messages, etc. I am not even sure it happens when it is accessing the card...
Of course I have already tried with a brand new card with same results. If nobody else noticed this I really suspect a fault in the equipment.
I'm having the same problem every now and then the card disappears and then i have to reboot to get it back.
try it perhaps it will help
perhaps this helps
Use ADVANCED CONFIG and change under "Performances the PNP unload delay or the PNP wait I/O delay to a higher value .

Thx, will try. On the other hand I assume that everybody else is on standard values so there must be another cause why I am the only (or one of the few) to report this problem (apart for an hardware fault of course).
I have the same problem here. Ive been rebooting to get the card back, never thought about just taking the card out and putting it back in again.
Same problem with Touch Pro once a month or so. Reinserting the card without reset also works
Here is an application I heard about today, it might help:
"StorageTools for Windows Mobile" http://www.softwinter.com/storagetools.html
I'm not too sure if the unregistered version does correction.
But, I have used it to do a verify (found a few errors on my 16 gig) card.
I rebooted my Omnia 2 and found that it didn't seem to recognize the internal storage card. The "My Storage" folder was missing and none of the apps installed there worked. They're still visible in the program list, but I get a popup-error when I click on them. When I opened the battery-cover I found a lot of dust, which is a common problem with the Omnia. Could the dust have "destroyed" the memory card? Also, if I tear apart my phone, would I be able to remove the memory card or is it locked to the phone?
Please help!
Thanks.
If you check on MODACO is a long thread about that:
http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000...303952/my-storage-was-gone-and-i-got-it-back/
For me nothing worked and I had to send to be repaired by Samsung through my carrier . I was without phone (my carrier give a basic phone for the period) almost 4 weeks .
After they fixit so far so good. I think they did some firmware updates also as the phone seems better.
Good luck !
Thanks for the link.
I installed NueStorageManager like the instructions said, but I couldn't find the missing storage. I haven't done anything to my phone so I have no idea what could have cause this. I might have accidentally deleted "My Storage" in the file-manager. Is that even possible? Or there could have been an error when I removed the USB connection to my PC. While the phone is connected using mass storage the storage is not visible in the device. Perhaps the phone didn't recognize when I disconnected it, and it still think it's connected.
On the device, when looking in the USB Connection settings you can select "My Storage" from the list of storage cards. When I connect the phone to my PC the device status says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". I uninstalled the device from the Device Manager, rebooted my phone and tried to reconnect. This time, it couldn't install the device!
If I try to reset My Storage it just says "My Storage unavailable". I did a hard-reset but that didn't help.
I guess I'm gonna have to live without my storage. Dang it.
Like I said , I tried everything myself and the only solution was to send it to service.
It seems that the intenal (16GB on my case) memory went dead . I wasn't doing nothing special also when it happened.
+1 +1 +1 = 3
happened three times for me!
they only changed a card in the phone and sent it back, after three times I got a new phone.

I remember, where an Omnia 2 hanged up or so - then it's been rebooted. The Internal Storage vanished from the File List, but the Main Storage and the MicroSD were still available.
I have a Verizon S5 with a 32gb SD card that I'm using to store media as well as apps.
Today a few strange things happened all at once:
I had an icon in my notification tray informing me I should format my SD card.
All of the applications that were installed on the SD card show a greyed out SD card icon and when clicked on they say "Application not installed".
"The check battery cover" notice keeps popping up.
I have rebooted my phone. I have removed the back cover, battery, and SD card and re-seated them all firmly. (None of this has helped).
I never remove my back cover as my phone is in a protective case and I have yet to drop my phone, so I'm not sure what is causing this behavior.
My question is, do I have to re-format my SD card or is there anything I can do to recover it. If not, is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future (without rooting my phone)?
Thanks.
Is your phone rooted? If so, did you flash any custom kernels, ROMs? If the answers to all or any of questions above is negative, than yes, you SD card is corrupted.
If you did any of the actions mentioned above, than just reverse it and see if it helps
No I'm completely stock. I guess my only choice is to format. This is my first non-Nexus and my first Samsung and so far I've been a bit disappointed.
Thanks for the reply.

This morning everything started working again, although the check battery cover warning is still coming up. I might take it back to Verizon if it persists.
Does anybody have an sd card notification that keeps coming back. When I click it it opens up file explorer. I can dismiss it and it comes back.

I think any questions may be kind of hard to answer at the moment due to the device not actually being released until the 8th

Many of us are TMO users with the device in hand [emoji13]
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
It kept on giving me the notification with a brand new 128gb PNY until it finally just didn't recognize it at all. I put in my old 32gb SanDisk and now it only shows on reboot.
Hahaha that makes me feel sad

I just noticed that it is after restarting the phone so I'll try that next time.
It's only on start up or when re mounting the card for me.. if you swipe it away it stays gone
Nice work Samsung, you just released an awesome buggy phone.

It's normal for new releases to have some bugs. Samsung will probably release an update to fix any bugs.
Multiple bugs for sure. Mine does the same thing constantly and I have a 64gb Samsung card in mine. Also the stupid UAC which promtps you to allow or deny to use every app you install and also the fact that OTG cables don't work with gamepads either. I feel like I downgraded from my note 5.
I just called T-Mobile and tech support said they're getting a lot of calls about the sd slot being bad. Mine unmounts and ejects the sd every 20 minutes or so now. They're sending me a new one.
S7 Edge Verizon. No matter how many time you swipe the notice closed or turn off notifications from the system ui it KEEPS COMING BACK!!! I hate this phone because of that already. It's driving me nuts! Guess I'll call Samsung tech support I really don't want to have to resort to root and xposed to get rid of this.

Hey guys, just wanted to post a solution to the problem. All of you with this phone, that use an external SD card, are getting an annoying notification that says, "SD card For transferring photos and media," and it doesnt seem to go away. If this message appears over and over again in your status bar, the only known way to get rid of it was to previously just keep "clearing" it out or remove the SD card completely.
If you are receiving a notification "SD card For transferring photos and media" on your Samsung Galaxy S7 and you cannot get the notification to go away, please try to do the following:
1. BACKUP your sd card - plug your phone into your computer and copy off the contents of the SD card
2. On the phone, navigate to: Settings >> Memory >> SD Card
3. In the submenu, choose FORMAT
All of the data on the memory card will be formatted to the correct file system and the memory card will be reconnected to the phone for proper use. The message, "SD card For transferring photos and media" should no longer appear.
Hopefully this helped you out! Thanks!

Same. That was the first thing I tried and it doesn't make a difference.
Same issue. I used scotch tape and put 3 pieces on top of the SD card. Now the issue happens 1/day instead of 1/hour. 5 pieces of tape and it is too thick to close, or it gets caught inside the phone. I'm trying to figure out if this is a physical or software issue. The last time it failed yesterday I had dropped it (6 to 8 inches) to a carpeted floor, so I'm not sure if it was coincidence or truly a physical issue. Verizon store guy changed my SIM card, but that doesn't seem to have much of an effect (love the placebo attempt). The SD card worked fine in my S5.
