I spend sometime looking a the mms winmo settings then after some attempts to duplicate them on android I notice that everytime something was change in the APN, the data would stop working, but not when only changing the mms port..try it and it worked....so of that port # doesn't work for some please check your winmo mms port # I think for the tmobile usa it should be the same.thou ...enjoy.

proper APN settings (like the ones listed on this thread) should fix MMS for most users. certain users will continue to receive blurry images and sometimes "failed to send message" errors...these people are the ones using builds with Sense.
MMS has ALWAYS been an issue on Sense ports. i have tried numerous sense/desire ROMs on my nexus one and MMS never functioned properly. stock 2.1/2.2 never gave any serious problems, just sense so a fix will take much more than just APN settings unfortunately.

This is correct. Sense builds suffer from the file compression that HTC messenger uses. At the present time there is not a fix that I am aware of.

in WinMo I always had a problem with most roms so i had to change settings from orignal to these (yes rhodium but it works like a charm)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Jataayu\MMS\SP]
"UserAgent"="Rhodium-1.0/arcsoft-mmsua-5.0.0.xx"
"UAProfile"="http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/Rhodium-1.0.xml"
is there a way to change these profiles in Android? cuz the default ones always caused MMS to be way too small... I know those settings are for WinMo and this is Android but wondering if it was possible... Thanks

thanks for the info , question do you think if someone could maybe modify the MMS.apk to help with this

im not quite sure. paul over at modaco's android forum usually releases ROMs with a custom kitchen that was filled with options. one of the options was HTC messaging or stock messaging on the desire/sense ROMs. i always picked stock simply because MMS worked like a charm. im not sure if anyone can implement the same swap on any of the builds we are using.

Tried these settings and still can't get mms to work on a stock 2.2 froyo rom. No sense. I posted about it over in the rom thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8151277&postcount=2336 to see if maybe the problem does lie in the mms.apk also. I extracted the mms config.xml but dont know what to look for.

I believe mms did work on wm 6.1 before the flash.
Really would hate to switch roms again because i have so many apps on my phone atm..
Please tell me theres a quick fix lol..

Oh........... I have mine sending fine, I use _http://pcs-boost-mmsc-submit.sun3.lightsurf.net_ for MMSC instead... I wanted to receive (like I do on Windows Mobile with ArcSoft) but I guess that's out of the question on Android...?
This fix corrected my MMS issues, however I noticed my APN is configured as:

APN: epc.tmobile.com
MMC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: default,supl,mms
Should I be concerned that my configuration is of T-Mobile instead of Boostmobile? What would be the correct APN settings for Boosmobile?
Thanks!

[FIX] [TMOUS]Patched ROMS w/SenseUI Based MMS & other fixes. 10/20/2010

I've started modding rom's lil by lil, since I'm being generous, I will be providing direct downloads.
They are now located here: http://dev.chiasoft.net/HD2/
Please be nice to my server, if download is a little slow, its because theres too many of you on it, wait a few minutes for others to finish
Latest Update Oct 20: THIS THREAD IS FOR TMOUS users only!!
The Mdeejay rom's are patched, but aren't tested, since I didn't have time, apparently data is broken.
Been busy working on this.
I've been using my version of the FroyoStone 3.2 w/hastarin kernel for a whole day already, no reboot no data lock up, nothing! I installed setCPU and used conservative mode 245 min/1113 max. Changed to power save mode when not using it actively. Unplugged @ 8AM with 92% battery, and got back @ 11:00PM with 19% batery; casual use, music player, and a little bit of Angry Birds not internet heavy except the various push email sync's. Going on day 2 in 3 hours.
Those who still have weird data drops or freezes, I posted my Radio and Rom for WinMO combination in the readme. Perhaps that will solve the other issues
Now that I know this works good, I'm gonna find a DesireHD based rom to tune up
Download, and comment plz!

Those users who are on the $10 "wap unlimited internet" plan. You would need to setup your APN's a little differently.
Since I don't have that plan, I wont be able to help test and confirm that. You would need to search around for an APN combination which works for you.
__________________________________________________________________
The following is more for the ROM Dev's who cook the ROM's. But if you like to modify yourself, read on.
Code:
[url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Network_Code[/url]
SenseUI Based ROM's by HTC are made so that the same ROM works across all regions/customizations.
If you look in the ./system/customize/ Folder in the ROM, you'll see theres a few files in there.
cid_map.xml defines the different Carrier specific customizations. (Particularly which languages are enabled, and dialer specific.)
mns_map.xml maps MCC/MNC Codes to a specific Profile.
For Example, if you want to have a custom T-Mobile US profile when a T-Mobile SIM is plugged in, or (AT&T Profile when an AT&T SIM is plugged in, 310410.xml), define 310260 and have a corresponding 310260.xml file in the ./system/customize/MNS/ directory.
This file is where you define the local news, RSS feeds, bookmarks, keyboard features, User-Agent strings for the various apps, etc, and a few MMS settings.
MMS_Msg_Size1=300K
MMS_Msg_Size2=600K
MMS_Msg_Size3=1024K
(Don't go over 1024K, I think thats about the limit set on T-Mobile & AT&T
And Finally,
In the ./system/etc/ directory there is a file called "mm_property.conf"
*change the wapprofile=" to "http://www.htcmms.com.tw/Android/common/NexusOne/ua-profile.xml"
This file controls what the MMS app can send/receive, enabled attachments, etc. Every ROM ported since forever has been using the "HTC Desire" device profile, and UA_String. [B]This is why on T-Mobile when you download an MMS or Send an MMS you get these tiny shrunk 2-3kb images.[/B]
This works for the SenseUI(Android 2.1/2.2) ports being used with a T-Mobile Device. (HD2, NexusOne etc..)
Keep in mind, if the sender's phone shrinks the attachment, then you will get whatever the final size is that the person uploaded.
EDIT:
Missing, Forgot, Lost APN's?
Extract [URL="http://www.chiasoft.net/apns-conf.zip"]this file[/URL] and throw into ./system/etc/
That should give you about all the APN settings for all providers.

Each build is different, but like I said the proper settings for Sense MMS on TMOUS are the above, these were extracted from the MyTouch3G Slide. The servlet are for older phones and network towers prior to the upgrade. Also, when you upload via the servlet, they compress your image so the recipient gets it shrunk. HD2 ROM's have an issue with slow upload because of the RMNET method of getting online. PPP works way better in terms of upload but it still isn't implemented 100% yet. (download speedtest.net app and run a speedtest with RMNET and you'll see what I mean by slow upload.) But yea, use whichever works for you. I believe also if you use the old svrlet, you aren't able to send unicode. (e.g. East Asian characters, chinese/korean/japanese)

Is his myTouch modified in any way? It may be that his myTouch is limited to 600K. If thats the case, try sending a pic with the 600K limit. Then it'll download.
Also, I changed the default DNS servers in Froyostone to use 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 instead of the opendns ones. They work faster imo.

I will wait until mattc includes it in the next update. I'm willing to make small changes that can be undone. Not a full overwrite.

Working MMS APN settings for HD2 Android

Before I begin, let me quote infinitybiff when I say, "You likely voided your warranty long ago. So if your phone explodes.... not it."
I recently came across a different forum that had a user that claimed these apn settings worked on his device, (it wasn't an HD2, but I had to try it) Afterwards, I attempted to send a MMS message that was almost 300kb, and it sent in less than 2 seconds on HSDPA. I also used the Xtremelabs speedtest app and scored 2328.8 Kbits/s max download, and 480.1 Kbits/s upload. On Wi-fi I only scored 1342.6 Kbits/s max download, and 271.6 Kbits/s upload.
I tested this on both Darkstones latest Froyostone sense v3.2, and BiffMod HD2 v1.1 vanilla froyo.

it works for mms (for me) but how is the stability of the connection? does it still drop a lot? wasn't sure if that was the apn's fault or ppp.

The stability is directly related to ppp, the apn just determines how it goes through t-mobiles servers. Try using BiffMod HD2 v1.1, havent had a single ppp data disconnect yet.
The main problem with MMS on sense builds is when receiving the MMS, it will be compressed to 3-4Kb because of the Desire user agent being used.
AFAIK, the APN settings won't prevent that. So while these setting may allow sending MMS fast, they won't fix the compression issue.
Also, I believe using proxys may prevent some websites from displaying correctly.

As far as I can tell, APN Type is possibly what fixes this problem.
The orange text says EDGE, but it is actually HSDPA/HSPA+, whichever its supposed to be.
The white text underneath is the Wi-Fi here in my house, from Time Warner Cable.

Thank you soooo much, these exact settings fixed my mms issue with HD2Froyo v3 !!!!!!!!!!!
I believe the MMS Proxy IP should be 216.155.165.50
That is the IP I got from the T-Mobile support site, since it's working for some it makes me wonder if MMS is not being pushed through the proxy at all.

NAND Build TMO US HD2 - Can't send or receive MMS

Hi All, recently flashed my TMO US HD2 to NAND Android. Love it so far, although I'm having issues sending or receiving MMS. If I'm trying to send a pic text it says 'Unable to Send, Generic Network Failure'. Anyone else have this issue?
I checked that the Max Message size is set to 300kb.
TMobile MMS APN is:
APN - epc.tmobile.com
MMSC - mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Protocol - WAP 2.0
MCC - 310
MNC - 310
APN Type - mms
Can someone assist me? Thanks in advance!!!
Any idea what build your are talking about?

Having exact same issues. Tried several of the alternate APN settings, finally go the message to go through, but the picture is very degraded. Anyone out there with the correct setting for the stock Desire build would be appreciated.

MMS PORT: Blank
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
AUTH TYPE: NONE <--this is another changed setting. do not leave blank.
APN TYPE: default, supl, mms <-- This also seems to be important.
There are a lot of topics about this issue yet you tend to ignore searching.
Okay, for your lazy asses:
1. Have you checked/edited the dns settings in build.prop?
2. Have you checked/edited UA and WAP profiles in system/customize/mns/default.xml and system/etc/mm_property.conf?
Ok Im having the "Blurry MMS Pics" issue also. I new to some of this, But I did check the files you quoted above. I've changed the mm_property.conf file to reflect the NexusOne and Not Bravo as I've read but still no fix.
So upon reading the above post I checked the build.prop. Its showing : bravo still? Dont know if this makes a diff

Build.prop is only for dns. Try using mytouch 4g or rhodium for UA. It works for me. Send me a pm if you need more help.

jose makalolot YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! The KEY to all of this is you HAVE to erase your cache :That is, go to settings>SD & Phone storage then do a factory reset. Or via magldr, Hold down power button until bootloader loads, go to services and wipe!.
If you are using CWM, you can do wipe data, wipe cache and wipe dalvik-cache in advanced.
Thanks jose makalolot for all your help!!!!!!!!!!! My MMS is now working, not blurry!

Try a CMYLXGO Build
All of CMYLXGO's builds are TMOUS specific with MMS settings built in. Works flawlessly with no blurry pics.

Man, people like this drive me nuts.
As if that's something easy to search for and find.
Congratulations, you know something someone else doesn't.
You win whatever race you're running.
How about you try being decent and help someone out?
Do you even know how many threads/posts include build.prop HD2, t-Mobile, DNS, etc. etc.
i had the same problem when i first installed android on nand was my apn settings. strangely i kept losing all connection when i used a froyo build but since then i've never experienced dropped connections anywhere except basements and such
i've had that problem. it's halfway fixed. i just can't download the mms messages.

Anyone else with simple mobile having problems receiving mms on there G2?

Title says it all, mine only work every once in a blue moon.
Its the one thing that is frustrating me with their service. It has worked MAYBE Twice.
Its the APN settings. It has to be something, no pun intended, simple in them that has to be added or taken away.

Agreed, I'm trying to figure it out
Keep me posted. I have tried everything from their website to their facebook page and even from a couple of threads here on xda. It seems that its somewhat device specific. There is no true 'setting'. I just got tired of trying different things and told everyone to email me because most everyone I know has a smartphone to do that with nowadays... still would like the option though. Knowing its busted annoys.
Maybe this will help:

What's interesting is there are no MMS Protocol option in my apn settings. I am trying these and will post results anyway, though. But my experience is always different when the variables are not the same.
Edit:
Yeah, doesn't seem to be working. Just keeps sending but never finishes. This is annoying!
I have simple mobile and its working fine on my end. Sometimes receiving will lag and i wont get a picture here and there but for the most part it works. Also i only have 1 apn set but when i had my g1 i had 2(two) like the poster above said.

Me as well. There is an unknown variable. We find it, we fix our problem.
Does borealis17 own a Vision? If not, Evofision might be the exception. I waould like two know how many G2 users are also simplemobile users. Then we can get to the bottom of this!

Donations
I will give a donation to whomever can get this mms working fully functional, this is horrendously killing my ability to receive dirty pictures from women. Will donate via paypal if solution works.
I think I figured it out. I am broke and would love a donation but the decision is yours. We were kinda in this together.
I was playing around with settings and found that if I use chap authentication... BAM!!!
Also default, supl, mms in the last line as well.
Hope this helps!

sorry let me rephrase, I called simple mobile, there customer service(which is horrible btw), told me to create two apn's, one for web and the other for mms, did you do that or do you have one apn?
What is the success rate of downloading your picture messages?
also, can you just post your APN settings?
and if it works as it should, I promise I will make a donation to you.

Have you tried changing the authentication settings as yet?
I just have one apn. The thing I noticed when I put two in is that our phones only use one at a time. There is no switch off component. we choose which settings and thatss the one it uses. I did that with the recommendation from the user who posted the settings and had a differnt set for the mms. After doing it I saw that it was useless because of the fact that you can only use one at a time.
I have sent myself photes on a number of occasions and they have worked everytime. I have noticed that it DOES NOT work on wifi. My apn settings are the default set with the authentication set to chap. That's it! Go to the apn settings and hit menu, then hit reset to default. It takes a minute or two. After, when it gets set, go to the and set chap auth. That's it.
I have tried to upload a screen shot but all the browsers and even the xda app won't let me. But that's the subject of another thread!
Hope this helps. Let me know when you have tried it.
I get them but they r almost always jacked up some how. The text won't show or the picture won't show or the pic will flash on the screen for like .01 seconds...
They is why I like email on my phone lol
