I recently came across a different forum that had a user that claimed these apn settings worked on his device, (it wasn't an HD2, but I had to try it) Afterwards, I attempted to send a MMS message that was almost 300kb, and it sent in less than 2 seconds on HSDPA. I also used the Xtremelabs speedtest app and scored 2328.8 Kbits/s max download, and 480.1 Kbits/s upload. On Wi-fi I only scored 1342.6 Kbits/s max download, and 271.6 Kbits/s upload.
I tested this on both Darkstones latest Froyostone sense v3.2, and BiffMod HD2 v1.1 vanilla froyo.

Guys, if you have any other carriers, besides T-Mobile, or AT&T, let me know and i will update the post.
it works for mms (for me) but how is the stability of the connection? does it still drop a lot? wasn't sure if that was the apn's fault or ppp.

The stability is directly related to ppp, the apn just determines how it goes through t-mobiles servers. Try using BiffMod HD2 v1.1, havent had a single ppp data disconnect yet.
The main problem with MMS on sense builds is when receiving the MMS, it will be compressed to 3-4Kb because of the Desire user agent being used.
AFAIK, the APN settings won't prevent that. So while these setting may allow sending MMS fast, they won't fix the compression issue.
Also, I believe using proxys may prevent some websites from displaying correctly.

No problem dude, I'm glad I was finally able to contribute something to XDA.
I used these settings on the FroyoSense v3.2 and, my MMS is working as long as it isn't connected to WiFi.
Other than that it works like a charm.
Can anyone tell me how I can get the MMS over WiFi working? Or is it not supposed to work that way?

Thank you soooo much, these exact settings fixed my mms issue with HD2Froyo v3 !!!!!!!!!!!
I believe the MMS Proxy IP should be 216.155.165.50
That is the IP I got from the T-Mobile support site, since it's working for some it makes me wonder if MMS is not being pushed through the proxy at all.

I have edited the apn like suggested.. The problem is still there.
I believe mms did work on wm 6.1 before the flash.
Really would hate to switch roms again because i have so many apps on my phone atm..
Please tell me theres a quick fix lol..

Just simply installed incubus froyo rom thingy (rls 13 or 12) as someone stated on the forum and edited the APN, only changed two things actually.
And now mms works fine.

Oh........... I have mine sending fine, I use _http://pcs-boost-mmsc-submit.sun3.lightsurf.net_ for MMSC instead... I wanted to receive (like I do on Windows Mobile with ArcSoft) but I guess that's out of the question on Android...?
This fix corrected my MMS issues, however I noticed my APN is configured as:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
MMC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: default,supl,mms
Should I be concerned that my configuration is of T-Mobile instead of Boostmobile? What would be the correct APN settings for Boosmobile?
Thanks!

I've started modding rom's lil by lil, since I'm being generous, I will be providing direct downloads.
They are now located here: http://dev.chiasoft.net/HD2/
Please be nice to my server, if download is a little slow, its because theres too many of you on it, wait a few minutes for others to finish
Latest Update Oct 20: THIS THREAD IS FOR TMOUS users only!!
The Mdeejay rom's are patched, but aren't tested, since I didn't have time, apparently data is broken.
Been busy working on this.
I've been using my version of the FroyoStone 3.2 w/hastarin kernel for a whole day already, no reboot no data lock up, nothing! I installed setCPU and used conservative mode 245 min/1113 max. Changed to power save mode when not using it actively. Unplugged @ 8AM with 92% battery, and got back @ 11:00PM with 19% batery; casual use, music player, and a little bit of Angry Birds not internet heavy except the various push email sync's. Going on day 2 in 3 hours.
Those who still have weird data drops or freezes, I posted my Radio and Rom for WinMO combination in the readme. Perhaps that will solve the other issues
Now that I know this works good, I'm gonna find a DesireHD based rom to tune up
Download, and comment plz!

For T-Mobile US users, who have the regular $30/month data plan:

**Explanation in bottom of this post.
__________________________________________________________________
Those users who are on the $10 "wap unlimited internet" plan. You would need to setup your APN's a little differently.
Since I don't have that plan, I wont be able to help test and confirm that. You would need to search around for an APN combination which works for you.
__________________________________________________________________
The following is more for the ROM Dev's who cook the ROM's. But if you like to modify yourself, read on.
Code:
[url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Network_Code[/url]
SenseUI Based ROM's by HTC are made so that the same ROM works across all regions/customizations.
If you look in the ./system/customize/ Folder in the ROM, you'll see theres a few files in there.
cid_map.xml defines the different Carrier specific customizations. (Particularly which languages are enabled, and dialer specific.)
mns_map.xml maps MCC/MNC Codes to a specific Profile.
For Example, if you want to have a custom T-Mobile US profile when a T-Mobile SIM is plugged in, or (AT&T Profile when an AT&T SIM is plugged in, 310410.xml), define 310260 and have a corresponding 310260.xml file in the ./system/customize/MNS/ directory.
This file is where you define the local news, RSS feeds, bookmarks, keyboard features, User-Agent strings for the various apps, etc, and a few MMS settings.
MMS_Msg_Size1=300K
MMS_Msg_Size2=600K
MMS_Msg_Size3=1024K
(Don't go over 1024K, I think thats about the limit set on T-Mobile & AT&T
And Finally,
In the ./system/etc/ directory there is a file called "mm_property.conf"
*change the wapprofile=" to "http://www.htcmms.com.tw/Android/common/NexusOne/ua-profile.xml"
This file controls what the MMS app can send/receive, enabled attachments, etc. Every ROM ported since forever has been using the "HTC Desire" device profile, and UA_String. [B]This is why on T-Mobile when you download an MMS or Send an MMS you get these tiny shrunk 2-3kb images.[/B]
This works for the SenseUI(Android 2.1/2.2) ports being used with a T-Mobile Device. (HD2, NexusOne etc..)
Keep in mind, if the sender's phone shrinks the attachment, then you will get whatever the final size is that the person uploaded.
EDIT:
Missing, Forgot, Lost APN's?
Extract [URL="http://www.chiasoft.net/apns-conf.zip"]this file[/URL] and throw into ./system/etc/
That should give you about all the APN settings for all providers.

Each build is different, but like I said the proper settings for Sense MMS on TMOUS are the above, these were extracted from the MyTouch3G Slide. The servlet are for older phones and network towers prior to the upgrade. Also, when you upload via the servlet, they compress your image so the recipient gets it shrunk. HD2 ROM's have an issue with slow upload because of the RMNET method of getting online. PPP works way better in terms of upload but it still isn't implemented 100% yet. (download speedtest.net app and run a speedtest with RMNET and you'll see what I mean by slow upload.) But yea, use whichever works for you. I believe also if you use the old svrlet, you aren't able to send unicode. (e.g. East Asian characters, chinese/korean/japanese)

Is his myTouch modified in any way? It may be that his myTouch is limited to 600K. If thats the case, try sending a pic with the 600K limit. Then it'll download.
Also, I changed the default DNS servers in Froyostone to use 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 instead of the opendns ones. They work faster imo.

They have been localized to en_US w/SenseUI MMS config Fix, thats ALL which was done. Any other issues with the ROM, go bug the original dev who made it

hello, sorry if this has been mentioned before. i am on TMOUS, and recently bought a G2. now, being curious, I decided to check the APN settings, and more importantly, check/compare against the one that I have been using. i found that there are 3 apn listings for TMOUS. I have added them to the HD2 settings and i havent had any data drops. If it is a coincidence or correct, I dont know for sure, but it works for me, and thats all i give a $h!t about. For the sake of my horrible battery life, I'm only going to list the settings with fields that arent empty. Here they are:
1. Name: T-Mobile Data

Thats what I have used and it's worked for me so far. I also have the newest ril wrapper (10/23), as well as having it in the android folder so that everytime i restart, it gets copied over into the /system/lib folder. Hopefully you guys/girls have the same results as I did.

Interesting... what build are you using? After adding these settings, are you able to send/receive mms okay? How about while on WiFi? Any other notable differences before and after? Speed increase? Smoother transition from h/3g/2g/edge?
I'll definitely test this out, although I don't get many data drops as is anyways. Using darkstones latest with chiasofts fixes.

The only thing that looks new is the APN: hipri setting. I dont remember every seeing that one. So here is what I an going to do.... Im gonna add that hipri to my APN Type field and see what happens. I will report back tomorrow or so or when I get my first drop... whichever comes first.
Thanks for the info!
EDIT: FOTA is For Over The Air updates on your G2 so you dont get charged for the delivery. Hipri is the name of the connection TMO uses. HD2 does not get OTA updates so we dont need the hipri settings. HOWEVER....... breaking the MMS out of the main connection of default, supl might have some merit.

Where did you get your latest ril wrapper?
What I did!
I applied all of the apn types between the three apn settings into one and separated them by commas and see what happens. It seems faster, but we'll see in a more long term sense.
these settings are also in the froyo g rom by mdj, i thought they looked kinda weird. link the wrapper your using and install instructions if you dont mind for everyone else to avoid all the questions. solid news we can all benefit from

hello, sorry if this has been mentioned before. i am on TMOUS, and recently bought a G2. now, being curious, I decided to check the APN settings, and more importantly, check/compare against the one that I have been using. i found that there are 3 apn listings for TMOUS.
APN: epc.tmobile.com

Which one do you have selected, or does it matter?
I'll test in miui and also edit the build prop ty for this

Please post your logcat files in this thread as soon as your data disconnects and won't reconnect. So the Devs can take a look and hopefully fix the data issues everyone is having.
Also post your build, sense or no sense, WM build, radio rom,
Otherwise you can toggle airplane mode or data and it should start working again.
EDIT: you can download aLogcat from the market and then just save the log and copy over to your computer then put it here..(actually not here, but in your post..hehe)
UPDATE: I've noticed many cooks have used the required libhtc_ril_wrapper.so file dated 8/19. However there was an update on 8/26 and again today 9/28. The 8/26 fixed some stuff for pppd to work correctly. The 9/28 just added some code for the future NAND to work correctly. I've attached the 9/28 wrapper and have been testing it for the last few hours. So far after reboot, it has been better for me.
The file is located in the root/system/lib folder in android. You can adb push this file or use Droid Explorer or a file manager with SU permissions. Just unzip this file and use one of the mentioned methods to copy it over to Android.
Also you can copy this file in WM to your "Android" folder or whatever folder your build is in, and to the folders (root/system/lib/libhtc_ril_wrapper.so) and when you boot android it should copy the wrapper to the correct folder.
Anyhow, give this a shot and see if it helps. Also check your wrapper and check the properties to see what the date is first, ALSO COPY YOUR CURRENT WRAPPER TO A TEMP FOLDER ON YOUR SD CARD FIRST just in case.
I take no credit for the wrapper as it was the work of other developers and the source is on the git with changes here http://gitorious.org/htc-hd2-android-libraries/libhtc_ril_wrapper
Stuff fixed in wrapper since it was created ....quoted from Git
9/28
-Corrected pppd failure check and introduced NAND boot compatibility.
8/26
- added automatic creation of files needed for pppd to run correctly
- fixed pppd start/stop after wifi activation
- cleaned up code little bit
8/18
-Fixed error with prelinked map while compiling module
8/17
-RIL wrapper for ppp data connection created
NOTE: the attached wrapper may fix the issues people had switching from wifi and back to data. Any wrapper after 8/26 should have the pppd start/stop after wifi activation fix. Should work with Nexus kernel fine.
EDIT: PLEASE PULL LOGCAT WITH SWITCH -b radio.....so logcat -b radio this will pull more detail for connections for devs...

I'm currently trying the "internet2.voicestream" setting and hope it will help. It certainly isn't hurting.
Seems pretty good so far. I think everyone should post their ROM/radio setup as well to give an idea of what's working.
Radio: 2.12.50
ROM: Shubcraft 2.0
Also, is there a direct download link for the latest wrapper?
Tried using "internet2.voicestream" but didn't help. At this point, settings aren't a fix for freezing data.
Posted with my HTC HD2 using XDA mobile app
FWIW, mine generally only freezes when there's low signal and it's trying to get a lot of data. With strong signal I can go all day and never drop.
No setting will fix that kind of a problem.
Just as a heads-up, I installed Speed Test to check speeds on a recently installed build, which didn't have these new settings, it had the original, common, single APN settings. I was concerned that the new build, which had the test-ppp-fix, wasn't achieving decent download speeds from HSDPA (H) because of a painfully slow Market app download. However, I saw speeds consistent with 3Mb/s DSL...around 2500Kb/s. But this Speed Test caused the data to freeze speedily...after a couple runs.
Having come across a new test "libhtc_ril_wrapper.so" in a thread by LeTama, I decided to load up my backed-up BlueTopia build, which has Hastarin v7.5alt and no ppp-fix. I wanted to try this new wrapper with a clean, un-messed with build. However, this clean build has these new APN settings...the 3 APN ones.
I booted the build with the new wrapper and once booted to homescreen, it crashed back to WinMo. I booted it again and this time it stayed put...no crash back to WinMo. Then I ran Speed Test about 7 times with consistent HSDPA data speed and no freezing. But, the speed with much slower...consistent with mid or lower level DSL...around 1500Kb/s. I decided to try out the original APN settings...the single APN ones...and immediately saw speeds of over 3000Kb/s. The very first run of the test showed 3700Kb/s and the successive tests were closer to 3000Kb/s.
I definitely saw a speed increase, but unfortunately not a fix for the data disconnections. I am gonna play around with other fixes, but this one will definitely stay on my "subscribed" list. Great work!
First off let me say I've been searching EXTENSIVELY on this issue.
I'm in the US on T-Mobiles HTC HD2 (obviously).
When I purchased the phone it had already been rooted (I believe that is the correct term). It was running winmo 6.5 along with Android on an SD card.
I haven't had the phone long but I've learned so much from this site regarding modding and such. I can NOT send MMS messages on Android (I believe I remember sending one on Winmo). I don't have a data plan and I've tried every single APN I've found. Still nothing.
I recently flashed my phone with the new MAGLDR. I used "MDJ_Revolution_HD_v._2.2_NAND". It runs pretty smooth.. Except no mms capability =(. I've updated the Radio to the most recent. 2.15~ (I think).
I've read that possibly it's the ROM I'm using. Like I said I've been searching, please bare with me on this question, but I'm a little confused on what a ROM actually is. From what I've read everything I've found is a "winmo" rom. I beleive the rom that came with my phone (note: it came from someone else, its not stock) is Energy? It's a blue logo at bootup.
Would I have better luck with the MMS if I flashed to another rom? And if so, how would that affect my android? This site is full of information and sometimes it's hard to sift through what I need and what is extra. ANY help on this matter would be greatly greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I didn't know that you could send an MMS without a data plan. Most Android builds won't send MMS over Wifi and without a data plan. Some of the new NAND builds have MMS working over Wifi.

My old Nokia would send good quality MMS without a data plan so I just assumed this would be the same. If you think this is the case then I suppose I can stop beating my head against the wall.
Thanks

I knew it! How did they get it working?
There were three phones on our family plan and none of them would send/recieve MMS. I don't know what they did to get it working, however, they sent information from the cell towers to the phones repeatedly until all three phones worked properly.
2 things u need to check out is to fix the problem,
1. (Boot Android) if u are in roaming area u need to go to your settings go to wireless and networks then go to mobile networks (NOT MOBILE NETWORK) and simply click on the checkmart data roaming to enable data tranfer over roaming coverage and then go to Accesspoint names and clik on the one avaliable. ( you should now be able to send and recieve MMS messages or send them over your network.

No sorry that wasn't it..
It turns out I needed to use a SPECIFIC APN if I didn't have a data plan. It was wap.voicestream.com and then the other stuff. I don't remember it. It works now!

The MMS should be setup as follows:
1. Settings --> Wireless and Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Access Point Names
2. The APN should be named "T-Mobile US"
3. Edit that or create it and the settings within should be:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: (leave this blank)

MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: (leave this blank)
Once done, back your way out, maybe reboot the phone for good measure but shouldn't be required. To test success, send yourself a picture message (mms).
Hope that helps
My Streak actually had two entries for APN's. One as above, and one called T-Mobile MMS

Thanks, but that one never worked. I heard that was for if you HAVE a data plan, seeing as how I don't I was able to use this one:

APN: wap.voicestream.com

password: mms
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050

And it works now!
Ok update: Now all the MMS I receive are very very small. 4KB~ Average. Any Ideas?
New Problem
I have all the MMS Settings set up properly. The onlu problem that I have is...
I am able to send picture messages aka MMS Messages ( I am on an unlimited messaging plan and hence the picture messages are included)
However I have problems downlading and viewing them.
Lets say my friend sends me a picture message ( a .jpg file) It shows me in the subject that there is an attachment but when I try to download it (first it doesn't even automatically downloads it when I have it set up correct )
the error message comes up " Unable to download message from __"
Can anyone help me ? I don't know how this issue started. I only remember that MMS messages used to download by themselves once before.

change the APN used for the Internet and toggle the moble Internet on/off
Ok.. So the problem im having is that I cannot send or receive MMS messages to anyone other then myself. I have changed the APN settings to every different one I have found scouring the internet for every android phone there is settings for, and although data never has a problem no matter what settings are used, I cannot get MMS working.
Yes I have the full data/unlimited $60 plan.... Yes I know what im doing.....lol
Im just wondering if anyone else has had this same issue with the Mytouch 4g and resolved it. It makes no sense that data and regular texts go through without a problem, but no picture messages.... except to myself
Any help would be greatly appreciated and any info you need can be given.
thanks in advance.
Had this same damn issue awhile back. Can't fully remember what I did. I know I turned all data off including wifi, then reset my phone, enabled data including data roaming. Don't think I changed anything with the apn.
Also try putting it in airplane mode then pulling the battery. Replace battery turn back disable airplane mode.
Fixed a mms problem on my sprint hero also(tech support helped me with that one)

I fixed it by switching to a sense rom. Not sure why that works since Cyanogen has Simple mobile as an APN already, but once I put sense on it works lol. Thanks though and Ill try those ideas when i go back to Gingerbread.
Lol nice. Kinda odd its working the same settings, could be a conflict somewhere from a app that had been installed or uninstalled. Not really sure, but good its working with another rom.
