Swype. Is it me or is it...me? - Vibrant General

I swear the longer I have had swype the more incorrect words o seem to come up with. LIKE JUST THERE! That was supposed to be "I" not "o." I suppose it's time to go back to the intro video and see what I am doing wrong...

I feel the exact same way.. its probably just because we have gotten confident with it and arent being as precise in our traces.

Everytime you type an incorrect word, it adds it to the dictionary. Double tap the word to highlight it and hit the swype key. It deletes it! I was frustrated too .

Possible hardware keyboard fix for Epic.

If this has been posted before please delete, but I believe I have solved my issue with the physical keyboard missing keys. I turned off all the software keyboards and swype it seems to have done the trick.
Problem is I have to change it everytime I switch batteries. Is there a way to do thi?

What keys are missing?

So tht it loks smthing lk ths
Yes, I've read that swype (enabled) is most likely the culprit.

Bingo, it can be annoying at times. When typing long emails and texts, be sure to go back and proofread what you just typed (good practice anyway). Turning off swype did seem to help a bit.

And not all of us want to sound like mysteryemotionz.
would make it a software issue then..not hardware =D good to know
I was able to type several paragraphs with all the soft keyboards except for Swype disabled, and I don't have the missing key issue anymore. I simply disabled the Samsung and Android keyboards. I use Swype way too much to disable it.

I use keyboard manager to help with this...
Install keyboard manager along with touchpal from market free (completely).
I have Swype enable and have it set as my portrait keyboard
Then when I switch to landscape keyboard manager services changes my kb to touchpal in a fraction of a second without any interaction.
What awesome about touch pal is that it offers some of the best spelling correction word prediction with our hardware keyboards. Takes a while to get used to but by far is the best solution for me as not only does it fix the random keydrops but it also spell checks and suggests words on the fly.
I was using the Windows Mobile Version for a long time before changing to android, but absolutely love Swype for portrait one handed.
In a previous post I made I pointed out that the lag I found to be software and not hardware... if you long press on many letters you will get a popup instead of repeat keys these seem to be the cause of the drops, after using touchpal, if you long press a letter it quickly repeats.

Cool tip! Definitely want to try this... but searching in the Market, I couldn't find Keyboard Manager .. and not sure the Touchpal that comes up is what you're referring to. Is it still available?

I couldn't find them either. Can you post the developer name or appbrain links?
EDIT:
Found the XDA thread for Keyboard Manager: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830177

sorry about that yes the xda link above it is the program that I mean.
also when you search on the market for touchpal it is the 1 with the blue icon and the chinese characters not sure why the chinese characters are there because it is in english don't be afraid.

Wow.
I unchecked the samsung and android keypad and tested it out. Updated twitter and FB without a hitch, no dropped characters! Very cool, and thanks for the tip. That's been driving me (and my wife) crazy!

It seems everytime I remove the battery and reinstall it that swype and the other keyboards are re-enabled. Is there anyway to keep them turned off?

I believe they need to be removed using sdx stock app removal.
Touchpal (chinese origin) privileges:
-full internet access
-record audio
-read contacts
Umm. I think I'll pass. I don't need the chinese keyboard reading my contacts, record audio, and send it back to the chinese developers...

Internet access to check for updates, record audio is for voice to text and contacts im not sure about but i think its for autocomplete to add to the dictionary. Check out Swype permissions same read contact data is there...
Trust me I have been using CooTek products for years they are a reputable company... Chinese or not.
PS you could try with another keyboard but I think the key is touchpal, all i can say is if the keyboard your using gets rid of the OS default popup that happens when you long press on a key it should work. I wish there was a dev that could just figure out how to disable this all together as it happens when there are no soft keyboards active,,, I am sure this is the cause to our missed keys try ee or oo in words 7/10 times it will miss if you are fast this is because its trying to determine the length of time the key was pressed to display the box of options.
I can't get keyboard manager to recognize touchpal as an option...any ideas?
NM, have to play with the actual system settings first

[Q] spell checking while using the keyboard dock

Many smartphones autocorrect the typos that we make on their physical keyboards.. would love that on this dock too.. Is there any soft keyboard that supports autocorrecting while using a physical keyboard? The ones on here don't seem too..
On the desktop at least misspelled words show up in red (under google chrome or most mail clients.) - but there isn't any indication that you're making a typo on the transformer..
-mark
ps - keyboard dock has been working great for the past hour or so
having come from using firefox I miss adblock, spell check and left pane bookmarks. Shame firefox mobile is so poor. I think a change in browser will give you the spell check your after.

I agree - I've become completely reliant on spell checkig
There should be something though. under the keyboard settings there is a heading "Physical Keyboard" and there is a option called Auto-Replace - correct mistyped words. I've never seen it do anything though? I use Thumb Keyboard for my screen keyboard, maybe that is messing with it?
I found one that seems to work, called ultra keyboard (there's a trial).
One thing that makes it different is the fact that you can select corrections rather than just allow the first one (you can select them with the arrow keys, so your finger doesn't have to touch the screen).
Let me know how it works for you.

swiftkey tablet workes kindOF
using swiftkey tblet will help you a lot if you are writing english, but it will mess up your keybord if you want to write in german or an other language, because it will change your keybord into english loosing all special charecters. even though I have a german keybordlayout, the instance I set up swiftkey as my touchkeybord my phisikalkeybord gets changed.
otherwise it would be perfect because swiftkey actually gives you the option for wordsugjestion while using phisikalkeybord,..
I am now looking for an office app with spell check since I do a lot of article writing on the the TF in german,.. any suggestions?

Another jelly bean annoyance

Hi when I'm posting on a forum and press the back space why does it delete everything except for the one I want deleting? Its really pissing me off especially after a long post. Everything gets deleted by pressing the back space button twice ho come please help.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I don't have the problem when using chrome or the XDA app on my N7.
Are you highlighting text?
No just typing as normal with the stock keyboard as far as I know stock settings to except for spell checking and predicted text.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Its not the apps it defo to do with the keypad. Say, after typing this and pressing the back button 2 or 3 times it will delete all the text except the last word typed. Weird aint it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I'm not sure what to say. Someone else on android central reporting this happening to them also, except they were a newbie user and never gave us a result after they wiped. Mentioned they were stock and happened right out of the box.
IT could possibly be some very random bug.
I also have the same problem with the spell checker. It was there before the Jelly Bean update, but afterwards, it 'seems' to be about 10x worse! Doesn't seem to matter what app I'm in, if the predictive spell checker comes up and I try to correct something I wrote previously, it will wipe out my entire entered 'sentence' except for the currently highlighted word. Same goes for when I try to backspace a word. It typically leaves the selected word and deletes the word or sentence before that.

Gboard no add to dictionary option

Still on 8.1
Haven't used Gboard a lot but I know add to dictionary was there in the past. Now it's not in the list. Cleared cache, downgraded, etc.... Only way to add words to dictionary is to go to the dictionary.
Any one else seeing this?

From what I gather... Just select the word... Or go back and put it to what you want... GBoard is supposed to learn... Not need to be taught

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that it might be like Swype and learn the words as you select them, but it seems like you have to use the word a few times before it learns the word. Like Swype.... I've typed it a few times but still doesn't know the word.
Sweet is what it gives me for Swype.... And you would think it would have learned sweetie (should have been Swype) by this post alone... But it hasn't.

Sadly it doesn't matter if i Swype or type. Some words it seems to lean and others is doesn't. Guess for those words I'll just have to go to dictionary via settings. And why the hell can't it capitalize i? LOL yeah i have it set in settings.... Just seems Google likes buggy software.
Thanks!

Think I got it working now ?
Updated Gboard.... Reverted to system version to see if the dictionary issue was present.
With the updated version if I type the word several times then it learns it. So Swype can be typed but not always Swype it lol.
The I issue was I had Auto correct off DERP!
Thanks again!

Why I aughta!
Glad it's working
Hi, i think i found a solution for this. Write manually the word and select any emoji but DONT PUT A SPACE between the word and the emoji, and the word will have a red underline instead of a blue one. If you write the word, space, backspace and emoji, it wont work. Then delete some of the few last letters and write them again, leave no space and insert emoji again. That worked for me
