I dont know what is the cause, but now my phone boot up time has increased quite a lot. It took about 40sec before I see the lock screen (like previously) but the difference now is I dont see the (live) wallpaper. It just a black screen. It takes another 30-40 secs before I see the phone signal bar. Then wallpaper comes on and it takes another 1.5 minutes before widgets fully loaded up. If I opened Application, I see the spinning bar and sometimes it takes quite a while before the app icons are displayed
Before this, the phone boots up in about 1 min with all widgets loaded.
I have checked what apps has started with ATK but there seems to be no difference than before. All the homescreen widgets are the same. The only things I have done is install quite a few games/apps to the phone. I have tried to uninstall all these stuff but the phone is still slow to boot.
Anyone can help? I am on the stock rom (jf4).
Did you put a lot of Music or Pictures on the Phone? Because every restart it searches for new media, which increases the startup time.

I just upgraded from Cyanogen 4.0.4 to 4.2.1
So far everything seems to be working well, but I'm noticing this strange and really annoying bug with Widgets. It seems that whenever I'm dragging from one home screen to another, the image of the widget is replaced with whatever it looked like when the desktop was first loaded. This is most noticeable with Clock widgets that change every minute, but you can also see the problem with toggle switches.
For example, I load my desktop at 11:45. Five minutes later, the big clock will read 11:50. I go to drag left or right to a different home screen, and the clock suddenly changes back to 11:45. The only time that the clock ever shows the correct minute is if it's sitting still on its main home screen. I've tried it with both the default home screen and with Open Home and it's the same on both of them.
Is this a bug in the rom or did I install something wrong? It's really starting to bother me but I really don't want to revert back to 4.0.4 if I don't have to.
Have you tried version 4.2.2
I just upgraded to the latest release (4.3.1, I think) and the problem is still there.
Okay, I think I am being super parnoid... But does anyone else have the following situation...
So when you press start, then home... the clock flips over and the top part of the screen where the notifications are held flickers ever so slightly... The minute part of the clock flips over fine, but halfway through the hour part flips over the animation stutters ever so slightly... I think this is also tied in with the weather application when it fully takes over the screen etc.
Is this normal.....?
I think I am just being paranoid.
It's SIM free on O2 and happens when i'm on Wifi or not
in my HD2 it is like
change hour, nice
change minute, nice
change minute again, stutter few frames.
Exactly the same. wonder why but oh well. thanks
anyone knows how to get rid of this problem?
you can install a cab to stop the clock from flipping excessively when you return to the homescreen.
just search for it under Leo themes subforum
there you go

Could I ask a few of you guys do me a favor and try testing out some live wallpapers for me? I installed this live wallpaper and loved the way that it looked. The only problem I was having with it, was that whenever I power off my screen while at the home screen, the system hangs and the screen does not immediately shut off. Sometimes it can take as long as 30 seconds for the screen to shut down.
Initially I was using the stripped Verizon ROM and figured it could have something to do with that, so I went back to full stock and it was still doing the same thing. It's not just that live wallpaper either. Using just about any live wallpaper that is a little graphics intensive causes the issue. I have my screen locked with a pattern, but I doubt that has anything to do with it. If I use a normal wallpaper, the problem does not occur, just live wallpaper.
I don't know exactly what could be causing it or if the phone is just that way by design. I have that same live wallpaper installed on my Dinc and the issue is non-existent. It's not really a big deal, as I have some pretty sweet wallpaper pictures. But the animated leaves look sooooo good.
I'm experiencing some serious lag with my Bell Mobility samsung s4 at times. For example:
- sometimes when I go to open the phone application, the screen will go black for literally 2-3 seconds before the phone screen will actually appear, same applies to gallery, contacts, messaging
- when I open my folders the animation of the app icon scatterings out is sometimes very choppy and slow to load as well
- on the lock screen, the time sometimes lags for about 2-3 seconds before updating to the most recent time
I'm actually running less apps than I did on my S3, I only have one page with no widgets on it other than a HTC sense clock widget, I've also got a 16gb expandable sd card in their. I have most of the functions off with the exception of air view, aire gesture and power saving.
Anyone have any ideas as to why my s4 is running so slow?

Click to collapse
Well its should not create this much of issue try finding if any partticular app is causing any issue
1,
U can try clearing all apps from task manger and also clear ram and reboot most issue should be solved
2,
check if there is any update on ur cell from about device - software update
3, if nothing works try a factory reset completly
I also had those shamy lags, and then I installed Nova Launcher... Amazing how Samsung can cripple such a powerful device with such a crappy interface !
Is it really slow loading the widgets after booting? The music player loads too long and sometimes the text widgets for example my daily quote widget, after rebooting it will be gone (but when you hold it its there but you cant see). Anyone have the same issue?
