[KEYBOARD]HTC IME v27 (Shu8i/Mattc/Hd2/Nexus One Themed) - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I used to make my own keyboards to my liking using a generator that made a modded version of HTC_IME for my myTouch. But since I have Android on my HD2 I figured i would try it, instead of a Low Res version, it provided a High Res Version. So i created one on http://www.gimpsta.com/themer/ that works on ALL android roms but looks great on Shu8i's.

1. In "SETTINGS" under "LANGUAGE & keyboard" enable "HTC_IME mod" by checking the box.
2. Exit and go to your "Messages" and open a "NEW MESSAGE".
3. The "TO:" should have the flashing cursor...press and hold until "Edit text" window appears.

ALL THE GREAT DEVS OUT THERE FOR MAKING ANDROID POSSIBLE!!!

Are there just absolutely no keyboards with directional arrows for Android? I find myself booting into windows a lot just to text.
Nice keyboard by the way, I was just saying I wish there were some good ones with directional arrows.

If you are talking about arrows as a "replacement" for a trackball? then yes, there are not any keyboards to my knowledge that have that. Sorry :/

The only one I know of is the Swype keyboard. It's the edit keyboard, the fourth keyboard in Swype.
The four Swype keyboards
1) Qwerty
2) Symbols
3) Numeric
4) Edit

@ciervo5389, don't know what to say. Thank You so much

Where can I get Swype for Android? I've tried the market and appbrain, but no luck.

That like up there ^ is so beyond awesome!
and the keyboard looks great. Just wish the spacebar would say android and not droid.
if I knew it would fit and I could edit it i would. I dont like it when people confuse droid with android.

True, but to me the auto correct isnt as good :/

The sense keyboard from the Sprint EVO has the directional keys, at least I remember using a build with directional keys and it was a sense. Wish I knew how to generate it for this rom. Thanks man. I love this.

i try this on mattc Leo Froyo with Sense 1.5b, but it "Force To Close" me when i try to use it.

By the way if anyone wants me to make one to they're liking and don't want to use the generator themselves. Just let me know the color of the primary keys, secondary, color of font, and color of secondary font.

it's still not working, a "Force Close" message popup right after Select input method and then HTC_ime.
Is this just a skin? or Or do i have to install keyboard first then install this theme?

You beat me to it! I was just trying this out and figure out this wonderful feature of placing the keyboard (only tried 'Space' so far, not sure about the others) as you like!!
Also, please soft reset after installation. It didn't work on Trinity at first installation cos' I forgot to soft reset. Read the 'Readme' file and realise that.
Haven't try XT9 but I think this is as good!!
I've been using TouchPal for a few hours and I must say this is the best SIP I've used. However, I realize that if I use TouchPal with the Notes program in WM6, I get some squares. I think the squares I'm talking about are the squares that show when fonts are not available. Every time I use the 'soft-navigation-buttons' in TouchPal in Notes, it writes a 'square'. It also occurs when I use the 'backspare-whole-word' function which is slide-to-left-backspare. The normal tap on the backspace works fine. This problem only appears in Notes. I've tried TouchPal with SMS-ing and Word Mobile and there's no problems. Any idea why this is happenening? Can anyone confirm this please?
I've encountered the square problem in notepad too.
This in big-key format makes typing easier and it's a great idea to allow the space key drag-n-drop in three positions! Added to that, so does the enter key, which also can swift to further left or remain right to suit left/right hander.
It's something near to what I'm looking for. I've tried XT9 keyboard from previous post but can't find the one shown in the picture. I presume XT9 got its edge.
great but only English
is there any way to put another language?

[CAB] [NOV 24] Raphael keyb. wwe and scandinavian for X1

Just made this as it works best for the x1, bigger letters than the blackstone keyboard, who needs the arrovs when we have the optical joystick
get it here:
here is the new keybord image to fill the screen but still have the larger letter for easy typing, first i made the touch hd layout witout the arrows, but the letters were to small, so this is the best solution so far to still have the large letters for finger friendly typing.
hope this comes to use..

well, the problem with using Raphael's keyboard is that at landscape mode, it doesn't stretch fully and create white space on right/left side of the keyboard.
OTOH, I believe this version will enable word completion and name/address prediction when you text using hardware keyboard, am I right?
does it break the symbol and the ascent key? If it doesn't, I'm inclined to install this over the TouchPal that I'm using.

I can't uninstall this as well. Any ideas?
Just made a hard reset after killing the phone trying to uninstall this thing. Anyone who don't want to waste time restoring your data or to be stuck with an unfunctional AE button, do yourself a favor and don't install this.
Same here, can't uninstall, now I am stuck with a crappy keyboard that doesn't work due to unfinished uninstall. I even tried SKTools and it didn't work. Now I need to find a way to uninstall it.
don't install this software (at least till it has a working uninstaller)
Update: I just did a hard reset for the phone to get rid of this software. Now I am installing everything from the beginning. The guy who did this is not even showing a sign of life to help us out :S.
I like the essence of this keyboard, but it still needs a bit of tweaking. The landscape mode is broken too, though that isn't a big problem for me, as I use the HW keyboard in landscape anyway.
Will this ever be updated, smaberg? (Will send PM for it.)

Good news everyone
Version v27, June 08, 2010
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624416
It is now working with HTC Desire, no need to have root access!
Voice input is working !
Plus bunch of other cool features (gestures, smileys, etc.)
Question and Answer
Q: Do I need root access to install this keyboard?
A: No, you dont. Really, you don't need root access!
Q: How do I install this keyboard?
A: Download the "hires" version, unzip it and transfer the HTC_IME_hi.apk to the phone. Use app manager like EStrongs or ASTRO to install this .apk file
Q: Do I need to install the Clicker.apk?
A: No, you dont. You only need this if your phone does not use HTC Sense UI
Q: How do I activate this keyboard?
A: After you installed the keyboard, do long press on a text input field. Then choose HTC IME Mod as input method. You need to do this just once.
Q: Does pinch to zoom still work with this keyboard?
A: Yes, it does work.
Q: Does the phone need to be connected to the internet to use voice input?
A: Yes
Q: But, the voice input still does not work! I pressed the voice input button and nothing came up.
A: Make sure your "voice search" is functioning, press the "Search" hardware button. If you don't see voice search icon then install this:
http://code.google.com/p/voicesearch/
Install only the VoiceSearch 2.1
Q: How to upgrade from old release to new release?
A: Use app manager like EStrongs or ASTRO then choose upgrade
Create your own keyboard themes? Go here:

It is very easy, you just choose colors and upload image, done!

This is a modification of the HTC Sense keyboard, yes you are correct.
The modification adds some more nice features + bug fixes of HTC code.
Which also enable voice input.
In the past, we cannot install this on HTC Desire because it requires root.
But now you can, jonasl made some more changes to make it works as "external 3rd party" keyboard like "Better Keyboard" for example.
When you install this, your current default original HTC Sense keyboard will not be replaced.
So, it is safe! You can choose

I think you don't install both hires and lowres its one or the other depend on resolution of screen. in our case hires version. correct me if im wrong.
I'm going to give this a try...
looking at the voice search included in verizon 2.1 keyboard, this is higher version than voicesearch_2.1.apk (v1.50 compare to v1.40). gonna try installing it beside verizon 2.1 keyboard.
works great, though struggles with the scottish accent
works great. now I can select 3 different keyboard gonna stick with HTC IME Mod Keyboard. thanks

then turn it on by the instructions below.
to turn it on you need to long press on the screen where you are typing and a popup will appear. choose input method and choose HTC_IME mod. then soft reset the phone. voila!

i am using voice to text right now, i will leave everything which is converted to know first time. you can see it is very accurate, there is a few words which is hit and miss, google i am very happy with it.
to know = alone
google = overall
tbh typing on it is exactly the same as the stock keyboard.

[BOUNTY][PAID] null keyboard w/ toggle widget on-screen (soft) keyboard

i have a mini Bt keyboard for my cappy, hate the on-screen (soft key) keyboard poping up when a hardware keyboard is present.
ive seen many people looking around for this too, IM WILLING TO PAY!
a simple way to "possibly" do this,
for win mo they had a "null keyboard" (blank keyboard) that could be installed and switched to, to "hide" it.
a widget that will toggle input method could accomplish this if with a blank keyboard to install as well.
other thoughts...
something else i came accross dont know if it helpls..
http://www.androidsnippets.com/how-to-remove-focus-and-hide-the-on-screen-keyboard
So far I will personnaly put up $10, anyone else want to sweeten the pot? PAID!!
Done!
Install it and you will get an extra Keyboard "Null Keyboard v2".
Select it as input method and your good to go .
Let me know if it works.
First one is just the Keyboard
The second one is the Keyboard + Widget
Edit: Added 2nd version with Widget.
Done! it works, money SENT!,
i just have some suggestions for re-finement, so its nice and pollished!
i see the widget isnt necessary as you can long click any dialog box to bring up the "select input method" window. however, could you make the widget bring up that selection window instead of locale and text?
and on first "placing" widget on desktop, a pop-up comes up telling you to enable NullKey2 in "local and text".
as far as function, i have no more suggestions, maybe color options? you could select a color in the same window that pops up (i suggested) to tell user to enable in local and text...
with those changes it would definately be worth .99 at least on Android market.
for anyone following this thread, it is still under very quick development and all further versions will be available on the market from Dark3n !
here is a screenshot of the latest version (my personal name version)
this should be in the market next month according to Dark3n.

Might want to point out it's the creator who is selling it. I was a bit confused at first
Neat idea for an app though. Kudos to both you guys.
the creator usually does sell their work. and was stated he would. there arent many pages to follow...

As yes, my appologies -- I missed it next to your 500 ft screenshot
Still, take the compliment and chillax. Was just saying it was confusing at first glance. It's a cool app and idea.

Is there any way to disable the blank area from coming up?
try PM ing him and are you using the market version or the tester version in this thread?
and what blank area?
hey that mini keyboard you posted a few pages back looks freakin AWESOME.
Do you have any more information on it by chance besides 'mini bt keyboard' from eBay?
and does it come out of that case?
yup right here

page 3 and 4
Would it be feasible to add the possibility to still have the dictionary prediction/correction for what you type with the external keyboard while using Null Keyboard?
