Hi there,
Recently I have been experiencing a strange problem with the M600. Communication helps me to connect to wifi. Everything is fine and I can do whatever I want, browse the net, file transfer via network etc. The problem comes when I exit the Communication Manager. I press the wifi icon to disable wifi, then I close the Communication manager. After this the system freezes! Nothing works including start menu. The only way out is soft reset. Because of this I have to reset my device 3-4 times a day! Very annoying. Any similar experience to anyone? Any cure? Or am I missing something?
Anyone? please. This is getting on my nerves now. I have to reset my device 4-5 times a day, probably more than this! Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
hi, sorry I havent been getting these issues! I know this sounds very Dell Tech support but what about a hard reset?
Hi,
I have almost the same prob:
If I close my comm manager with the upper right button in the screen my system freezes for about 4 seconds but after that everything is fine.
If I close the comm manager with the exit button in the lower left side of the screen the app closes immediatly without any freezes...
so try this and good luck

Hi, I took your advice and did a hard reset. Everything seemed to fine until today when it froze couple of times when communication manager was turned off I think some of the programmes which I installed may be inter acting with Comm, manager but I dont know which
comm manager is a buggy app... sit tight and wait for a fix from HTC.
Hi,
Lately the phone side of my T-Mobile Vario II is alays off after I turn it off and then on. I have to manually start it from the Comms Manager.
It was fine when I first got it.
Any ideas? Is there a Registry setting I can check?
Thanks.
Hi,
I have the same problem too. Hope sombody can find a solution to it.
cheers
Make comm manager an exception in whatever task manager (magic button, InClose, ....) you have installed.
I have the same problem and I don't have any of the task managers installed....
Same issue here. It doesn't seem to be related to close app exception lists either since mine only recently started exhibiting this issue and I've had spb pocket plus installed since I upgraded to the 1.31 Cingular ROM with no close exceptions defined. My first TyTN started doing it too.
Interestingly, pressing reset doesn't have the same effect: the radio comes right up then. Every night spb backup plus resets my device after the backup and I've never had an issue. Therefore, I believe it has something to do with the power-off shutdown process itself. In support of this, I've noticed that when I press "Yes" on the shutdown dialog, the first thing that happens is the radio shuts off. Then, about 5 seconds later the device shuts off.
What I've done so far is to add Conmgr.exe to SPB pocket plus' close app exception list. I'll see if this affects anything. IIRC there were a few more apps that needed adding too. I'm hunting those down right now.
edit:
hmmm.... after adding conmgr.exe to the close exception list, the phone came right up when I tried a powercycle. Either this fixes it or its intermittent. Perhaps spb does an explicit close on all open apps when you try to power off and this is somehow affecting the phone mode when conmgr starts back up.
Hi, are you all referring to flight mode being on when the phone reboots?
I know I have had an issue where after I install some apps that when I reboot flight mode will be on, and it will keep doing this, I also noticed that if I just soft reset it wouldn't happen, the trick I have found to get it workin again was to use the always on settings with the fit4cat tweaker, and usually once or a couple times of setting like gprs always on of off, and a softresetting that it will fix the flight mode being on problem...I'm not sure if you all are talkin about the same thing and this really isn't pinpointing the fix, but I thought this info might help atleast one persons aggrivation..cause I'm sure I can't be the only one with the flight mode problem.
I don't use spb btw, well I use spb backup, but have had the problem arise after I installed wmirc and netfront for example.
I never use the comm manager, I just click the signal by the time in the taskbar and it says flight mode is on, I just realized it is likely the same problem.
edit: I had the problem arise again and can't figure out how to fix it, even tried a registry restore.
Not a Fix but a Working Solution
I started having the issue of the radio being off on startup a few weeks ago.
So I invested($10) in a copy of SK Softwares Scheduling Manager SKScheMa.
http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?sksc..._skschema.html
This has a powerful scripting language and one of the script commands is "GPRS on"
I created a shortcut in the startup folder to a GPRS On script. and since then I have had no more problems.
Another workaround (free)
This problem recently started to affect my Cing 8525, as well. I don't know if this has been already resolved, but my solution was to DL this little freebee named FlightMode v1.1.0 (Thanks to Cristiano Severini) from here:
http://www .winmobileapps.com /device/pocketpc/fm/fm .aspx
I've only tested it so far with one reboot, but it seems to work around whatever bug there is in WM5 ... as long as you don't mind CommManager flashing on the screen for an instant at bootup, and then having it running in the background (too bad it doesn't do a full close of CM).
I installed this app, and then created a shortcut and placed it into the \Windows\Startup directory. Seems to do the trick nicely.
Hope you find it useful.
[EDIT: Further tests have shown me that Comm Manager does NOT flash on the screen briefly, nor remain loaded. Seems that had something to do with PhoneAlarm, instead. Personally, I think this might be a good solution to this particular problem.]
[EDIT2: Ok, further tests of Fightmode showed me that this was merely a toggle, and in cases where the phone was ON after a reboot, Flightmode shut it off. Nice little program, but this issue made me look at the SKScheMa mentioned by paulbacik. What a powerful tool! I agree, that $9.60US is a bit expensive just to have the phone/radio on after a reboot, but I feel this app has some wonderful potential. So I plunked down the cash and registered it after a day of testing. Does the trick VERY nicely! Thanks Paul!]
Aha... I think I have found the problem...
Ms Voice Command v1.60 does it for me. As soon as I install it the phone won't start at boot up. Remove it and the problem is gone.
Wonder if everyone else with this problem has VC installed.
Nope ... not VC
Thanks for the attempt, Essef, but VC is one of the few apps I haven't (yet) installed. I'm leaning towards it being related to (in my case) Wi-Fi Compnion. I'm going to reinstall that this weekend, and see if my problem resurfaces. Hopefully not, since I like the app (and paid for it).
FWIW, I am also now using the SK ScheMa "fix", and I like it a lot. It never fails on startup, and I aim to use it ... and PPL a lot to customize/personalize my 8525.
Best regards,

[UPDATE] OK, so far, so good. I reinstalled Wi-Fi Companion last night, and it worked pretty well. Actually, my 8525 froze the first time, and I needed to hard-reset (thank GOD for SPB Backup!). But, not being one who gives-up easily, I tried it again, and it installed flawlessly. I've been using it on-and-off today, and so far, my phone still boots without the "The Operation Failed" error messages I was seeing before. Mind you, I have done quite a bit of tinkering since the last time I had the problem, going from ROM version 1.34.502.1 to 2.06.502.3 after SuperCIDing and SIM Unlocking the device, so maybe all of this stuff made a difference.
At any rate, I will post to this thread again should anything change with regard to this issue.

[/UPDATE]
After a bit of experimention I found a fix for Voice Command causing this on my Jasjam.
It seemed to occur as soon as I assigned VC to the 5th button (which was Cyberon's Voice Dialer) - then no radio after reboot.
So I tried removing the sddaemon shortcut in the startup folder (this starts the Cyberon service), rebooted then assigned VC to button 5 and now the radio satrts everytime I reboot.
I guess with the Cyberon service running and assigned to button 5, reassigning the button caused the device to get confused and not start the radio.
My phone has been working fine for a few months now, after several flashes (cant pick a ROM ) anyway, a few days ago it started acting funny. It would freeze just doing normal everyday tasks, then it would just start working again like nothing happened after about 2 minutes. Now today, it freezes on my welcome splash (the one after the htc, the windows splash). and it just sits there. Sometimes, if I let it sit for about 10 minutes, it will start up-VERY SLOWLY, and if you go into any menus, it freezes. I tried to re-flash, but it wont establish an activesync connection. Is there anyway to get the phone to flash in my situation? Hopefully, I could flash it back to a cingular rom and send it in for warranty.
Did you tried to hard reset your Wizard by resetting while holding Comm Manager and Voice Command button?
Yeap, runs through the set up, gets to the screen where it says "customizing in 3...2...1" and shuts off.
Well, today, it completely died. Won't turn on, tried a new battery.....nothing. Do you think, since it won't turn on, I may be able to sneak it by Exchange By Mail???
Fixed it! For some reason, the first time I tried a new battery, it didn't work. Tried it again just for the hell of it, and it fixed it. Strange.....
Today, my 8525 keeps freezing again and again. However, it's not 100% dead. The HTC task manager has the little icon on the right top corner, and there is an small arrow indicating "open" or "close". So when my 8525 freezed, that little arrow is fliping all the time. Also, today, when I connect 8525 to PC, using activeSync, it keeps disconnecting me, then the phone freezes. This never happend before. Does any pro have a clue?
3x
Press the reset button.
I reset it many times. But the problem remains.
Are you running an HTC WM5 ROM. Have you checked he notification queue. Known problem. Google something like windows mobile 5 notification queue and you will get answers.
I am running it on wm6
Hm, interesting. I've seen that once on mine, which I just attributed to lag on the device. Pretty annoying to be sure.
Resetting did fix it, if you're still having trouble you may need to hard reset and/or uninstall some things.
Hi,
This is my first post here and obviously it's a problem related issue.
I have my HTC TOUCH HD, for about 1 week now.
Everything worked great, until yesterday, when i tried to install the following:
- installed the HTC Hotfix for responsivness, seemed to work fine.
- than i wanted my phoen call to be announced with voice, so i tried to findVoiceCommand (cracked, shame on me)
- downloaded something from this forum, that was posted on rapid share.
Oh Joy and than the problems started:
- It gave an error when installing
- than o n reboot, it toook waaay to long to boot up.
- than i tried to go into the settings to remove it.
Now, EVERYTIME i try to enter the settings, it just freezes, i can not access anyting any more, not even the upper power button, only taking out the battery will work.
Rebooting, i used total commander (thank God i had it installed before) to delete the startup link for voice commander and the entiere voice commander folder.
Now, unfortunate this did not do the trick.
Accessing the settings button will still freeze my HD (
I am very very very frustrated, do not know how to restore it to previous state. Pretty please someone can guide me what to do ?
Thank you in Advance.
ps: everything else seems to work fine, though
Do you think hard reset is the best way??
Yes, unfortunate, this was my only solution.
After digging for more than 4 hours, sleeping 4 hours, digging more hours, i gave up and did a hard reset.
(i even had to digg that up too )
Now everything is back to normal, BUT my weather application is not updating through GPRS / 3G any more, only through wireless.
There is no option for me to set it through what connection it should connect
(Only in coinnection manager, and there its set fine, i already tried everything, and internet seems to work, just fine)

Same thing happend to me. I have now managed to get back into my settings. I think there are two ways.
1. Use active sync to remove the program
2. I installed the 1.5 trail version (which doesn't run) but let me back into settings so I could uninstall MSVC and then uninstall the trail.
start up still seems a bit slow and the first time you press settings it is a little slow going in but after the first time it is fine.
The better option might be a hard reset but it isn't one for me at the moment as I have far to much stuff to re-install and setup. I really want MS voice commander but I am to scared to try and install any versions
sound like the program had a virus maybe
go to startup in windows explorer and remove the shortcut related to it. this will solve the problem.
Damn stop listening to people that quickly tell you to hard reset.
I had a similar problem in which i couldn't access Settings to remove the program that was causing it.
I connected the phone to ActiveSync and you can easily the program from there. Problem solved.
Another way to uninstall would be to launch the CAB file again (the one with the "bad" program). You will asked if you should remove the old version first, say yes, then cancel installation when it asks where to save the new version. Together with a soft-reset thereafter, in most cases it should work out ...
