Is there anyway to increase the battery life on the aria? I love it, and I love sense, but within about twelve or so hours of moderate use in the day my battery is left with roughly 20%. With cyanogenmod, the same period of time and usage, I was left at 60% battery. I know the sense launcher and Widgets play a little part of that, but even with my hero, battery life wasn't that much of a difference between vanilla and sense roms.

I would suggest an App killer. I have yet to try cyanogen's ROM but am on Attn1's Liberated Rom. I have Bluetooth enabled all day and by the end of 12hrs it is at 25% or so. Not saying switch. I would try Advanced task killer. Have many friends using that on their EVO's and Nexuses and their battery is wayyyy better.

I've tried all the tricks. I always have advanced task killer no matter what rom I'm running. I change thee location settings, network settings, screen brightness etc. I love htc sense but I don't want the battery life that comes with it. I know what my tricks are,i just want to see what the community had come up with.

I have read somewhere on the google (official google page about android stuff), using task killers does NOT improve battery life because background apps stated as "suspended" when they are in background. I dont know if I get it right. I will post link if I can find.
P.S. Couldn't find it but it was something similar with this:
http://geekfor.me/faq/you-shouldnt-be-using-a-task-killer-with-android/
Of course, you must take control off applications really "running" in background and preventing the phone sleep state. Not just "killing" all applications.

An update from liberated 007 to the newer 008 has given me tremendous amount of battery life back. With the cm kernel fixed I'm getting the same life that was expected out of cm 6.1

Mmmmm. If there's one thing that could drag me over from the standard Liberated ROM over to the Froyo ROM, it would be longer battery life.*
Perhaps I'll give it a shot this weekend.

* I've resisted the urge to switch, only because I've heard wildly conflicting stories about how fast it runs on the Aria.
don't use task killer it will kill the app but the app will just start up again in the background cause the battery to run out. it says its in the background and that's true but its not running its idle and isn't affecting battery.
sent from my rooted cm 6.1 aria
I have to say, at stock clock it got sluggish at times, overclocked to 800 though its running absolutely great!

You might want to try out an app called Autostarts. Just make sure you don't turn anything off you really are gonna need. Try this with advanced task killer and the apps wont load back up.

Check that you do not have an app constantly running in the background - on my stetup, I found that the XDA app was burning 3-5% CPU time spooling in the background doing nothing. (using OSMonitor)
For what its worth, I went back to the Sense ROM (FR008) from CM6.1 because of strange battery behavior - some days dropping to 30-40% after a full day, others it would be dead by 5pm. I dont consider my self a heavy user either. I do not see a significant difference in battery life between the two ROMs, if you throw out the aberrant days that CM would go nuts on me.

Just updated my wildfire...now having some issues with it ..
apps opening by themselves when checked in advanced task killer
draining battery ...
killing the apps in advanced task killer and after 5 minutes again like 5 apps are opened ...
just before going to sleep i charged my phone ..Woke up in the morning battery 15% because a lot of apps opened by itself ...
How to deal with it ...
Everything started since i updated my wildfire with froyo
IOS because of je JIT compiler. Taskkillers and froyo cant work together. Taskkiller is killing the apps, froyo opens them again. So that'll drain a lot of battery.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
So it means i must stop killing apps and let them run ...that also will drain battery quickly
Apps which are open don't use power. They are just sitting idle in the background. Android ain't Windows.
just uninstall your app killer, no need with froyo.
thanks for the answers
Doesnt it then drain the RAM instead?

Hi, I have same problem. My phone can last only 20 hours after update to Froyo and I'm not using any task killer. Before update it took 3 days of using this phone until I had to recharge it. Is there any way how to permanently shut down programs that I don't need? They are just draining RAM and battery and my phone is not as smooth as it was before update (because of running unnecessary programs) =(...
I noticed the oposite,my battery lives longer with froyo.Maybe 20 % longer.
Well, I think I'm going to return my phone to factory settings and update it again without any custom apps =/.
Hi,
having the same issue - battery draining a LOT and froyo does not bring to me any must_have function, or something like that. Really pi**ing me off. So i will kept stock froyo till flash ROM will be available and then flash it back with eclaire ROM. Hope it will be soon.

Do you use task killer or some app that sava juice????
crni6> I used Task Killer for a short time after OTA update and then uninstall it completely, but the problem is the same. I measured with 2.1 the Wildfire, it worked on battery 7 days and 12 hours and still got 9% of battery left! This all of course with my (minimalistic) device using.
With the same usage and with Froyo I yesterday got full charge at 5:50pm and now - 3:45pm next day I have 72% of battery. And this is what really making me mad.
OK, I have solution - just reset your phone with factory reset (helped me =). That will return your phone to clean Froyo installation without custom apps. Since I did it, my battery can last 2x more and I can feel that my phone is more smooth. Do not install any task killers, just wait for root to uninstall that stupid apps you dont need to be running on background =).
Correct did the same with my wife's wildfire and now better battery life and performance. Too bad not all apps backup their data correctly...

So I used to be totally against task killers. Well I've been experiencing horrible battery life since switching to froyo. I've tried different modems, every rom, every kernel, been doing everything to get the best batt life I can. I've found myself getting at best 8-12 hours of battery life. Which is livable. Well I read adryn's signature about how to win at Quad, and decided to try system panel lite. Been using the widget to kill all tasks about every hour and now I'm sitting at ~60% battery. It's been a light usage day but even how I've used the phone today I'd be around 5-30% battery life by now. So not a night and day jump, but a good enough jump to mention. I just felt the need to post this thread for those still struggling with battery life. Try this out and report back.
I will be sure to try it. I have struggled with battery life to the point that I actually went back to eclair for a bit . I can't live without froyo anymore so I am gonna try whatever it takes.

I've been using System Panel since I got my phone, it's a really great app, way better than ATK or any of those other BS tk's.

Ive been using advanced task killer froyo since moving on to 2.2 . I have it set to auto kill all apps but ignored apps everytime my screen times out. But it does well not closing apps im using. Such as pandora, browser etc. I get 20 hrs average with moderate use. It hasnt died on me since eb01

I recommend ES Task Manager. It isn't an automated killer (so no risk of it running rampant and doing more harm than good), and gives nice manual control for knocking out apps that are acting up. It is a nice upgrade from the stock one.
Swyped grumpily from my advertised as "can be upgraded to Android 2.2" device
Im noticing my battery is draining faster than when I had froyo anyone else noticing this.its very disappointing .im using it just how I used it on froyo and it barely last through half the day. And should I use a task killer, droid life said it would save me more battery if I didn't use one

You might want to recalibrate your battery. I am getting much better life on gingerbread. Definitely do not use a task killer. Android is designed to keep the programs you use most in memory and drop the ones that aren't. Even the ones on memory won't be using much power.

Charge the battery to 100% and then boot into CWM and go to advanced > wipe battery stats

Another reason that I regretted upgrading to it is the battery seems to run down a lot faster.
I also noticed the keypad lights stay on considerably longer (and brighter too?). Can it possibly be assisted adjusted?

We just updated my wife's DX to the Gingerbread OTA this morning. (We are running stock)
My wife showed me that her battery was down to about 40% today, when normally she is around 70% by the end of the day.
I don't have CWM on her phone (if I should be resetting data as mentioned above).
Is her battery draining faster, or is it just a battery recalibration issue?
If we need to recalibrate, what should we do without CWM?
Thanks ...

The battery is likely draining faster. It's an issue discussed by many others. I have questionable battery issues following the upgrade. My usage patterns haven't changed, but my battery life seems slightly worse. Moto is aware and hopefully will fix relatively soon.

Yes, and so far the suggestions revolve around disabling any sort of syncing/polling apps, turning down screen brightness, turning off 3G radio and living life with only WiFi, doing a factory reset, and a few others. Some believe it's a 3G signal issue and the radio bumping the power to compensate. I'm betting on this as the phone does get quite a bit warmer when using the 3G radio. Realistically, the only real solution will come from Moto when the issue is fixed.
Motorola claims the DroidX has 480 minutes talk time and 220 hours standby!
http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/U...s/Mobile-Phones/ci.Motorola-DROID-X-US-EN.alt
Anyone here get anything remotely close to those times?
Sent from my unrooted DroidX using XDA App
Definitely not since the GB update. Might have been able to get that before if you remove all widgets, syncing/pushing apps, and only turn the screen on to dial a phone number.
On a side note, I broke down and bought the extended battery and I seem to be getting worse battery life now than before Time to exchange it or get my money back.
I am experiencing the same fast drainage and excessive heat. I am more than ready for a fix & root.

Just updated to 2.3.3 today and my battery is doing a lot better than on froyo. im unrooted
I was having a similar issue with the battery draining and the phone feeling warmer that usual after I first updated. I fired up OSMonitor and found that there was a motorola service running nonstop at like 20% CPU usage. Found out it was trying to sync my exchange account but couldn't connect. I manually went in to the mail app and refreshed; it sync'd my account and the problem was solved. Great battery life ever since.
Don't know if this is a similar issue that other people are having, but hopefully it helps someone.
I had the same problem (battery would drain in a few hours and the phone would get very hot) and could not determine the problem.
After a few days I tried the "Droid Factory Reset"
under: Reset instructions for DROID X on 2.3 Gingerbread Android:
motorola-global-portal dot custhelp dot com/app/answers/detail/a_id/48517/~/droid-x---factory-data-reset
It worked. The battery life went back to what it had been before the update, or at least to something similar. Of course, all the data and apps were wiped.... but it was a perfect trade off for having a phone that worked once again.
Just waiting for the Gingerbread OTA Root!
funny, cause when i go through privacy to factory data reset and get all the way to the final button to erase everything...the damn button does nothing. Doesnt work.
it's fine cause i can just boot into android recovery and do it there, but wtf.
this OTA GB has been pretty bad thus far. lots of lost functionality such as extended controls / power control widget, task killer widgets...none of them work.

Has anyone else been experiencing increased battery drain this past week? No matter what rom i have installed, apps or how often i wipe the battery stats the battery drain doesnt slow. I have watchdog going for the past couple of days to try and track the problem but its not showing any runaway programs.
Maybe try a new battery.

I have, or in the sense that something likes to keep my CPU awake for long stretches when the phone is idle. Noticed it during the sale but haven't been able to find what it is, as I don't have many apps added to my phone (most goes on my tabbook). Excluding application updates the only thing left I can figure to do, is switch back to Zeam from ADWLauncher Ex.

Yeah, on stock, ADW really drained my battery. It works best on CM7 or rooted. Sorry.

Could be a couple things, maybe try a different radio or maybe another battery? Or maybe set a screen-off profile in setcpu 368 min/max conservative? What voltage is your battery at full charge? Mines usually around 4207mV

Not sure what eqjunkie829 has but I'm on CM 7.1.0 and don't have the Amazonlet running. Initially I thought it might be dry commo from Swiftkey X (I usually have mobile data switched off and wifi on when desired). What apps are useful for accounting? I.e. more precisely seeing who used what than the battery thing in settings.

turn your display brightness down, turn off gps. they usually drain your battery. have you tried using juice defender? paired with the ics 5.1 beta, i get great battery life. 9 hours in and my battery was still at 60%.
