First boot settings help! - Windows Mobile

I have a problem getting the default wm6.5 fisrst boot setup (align screen etc) at first only getting the htc setup. But from what i read here forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735785 the oobe file not cooked in solves it. But i want both the setup (default wm6.5 first followed by htc setup like in some roms i used before) to be @ first boot.
how do i do it?
Thks in advance

Hi,
I am not sure this would solve your prob, but certainly worth a try.
The reg entry below determines what will be show during first boot:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Welcome]
"Disable"=dword:FFFFFFFF
Above is from my device (LEO) which disables all WM default firstboot screen. For more info on "Disable"= dword, check this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=269507

Bored with welcome screen? Let's play with HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Welcome
Create Key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Welcome,
create DWORD value Disable, set some values
execute \windows\welcome.exe
and look at the screen names, which doesn't appear
FFFF FF7F - disable everything except 'email setup' screen [WM5 only AKU 3.x]
FFFF FFBF - disable everything except 'password' screen [WM5 only]
FFFF FFDF - disable everything except 'complete' screen and the finishing tap
FFFF FFEF - disable everything except 'location' screen
FFFF FFF7 - disable everything except 'pop-up menus' screen
FFFF FFFB - disable everything except 'stylus' screen
FFFF FFFD - disable everything except 'align' screen
FFFF FFFE - disable everything except tap on the first screen [ignored if any other bit is cleared, the only difference is between FFFF FFFE and FFFF FFFF]
FFFF FFFF - disable everything [displays first 'splash' screen and exits]
Other bits - probably reserved for the future [look at the order of the things above]
There is another value: SystemStart - I have no idea what does it mean
There is another key Software\Microsoft\Shell\Event\Welcome - I have no idea what does it mean
There are references to the files "\Storage Card\Welcome.Not" "welcome. Not" - I have no idea.

I believe it is set "Disable"=dword:FFFFFFFF on my device and OOBE is cooked in. So, on first boot, I will only get HTC OOBE screens.
Search through out your kitchen for the entry. For me, by default when stock rom is imported, the entry would be found under OEMDrivers's rgu and also Project Default B ext package's reg.
Good luck and report back if it worked!

Have you tried to do "Big Storage" ?
look here for the utility: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8422&highlight=unlock+extended+rom
attached a cab file that will install a tool to lock/unlock and hide/unhide the extended rom.
( with 'unlock' I mean make it read/writable again )

Not yet, is it possible to make "bigstorage" without flashing firmware? Don't really wanna do it, works stable.
Yes it is, but flashing firmware is saver than patching & flashing your current rom. Instructions below

Thanks you for this important note!
Didn't found it in the thread of the tool, sorry!

No problem, the hardware setup of a magician is different. For the moment you can unhide the ext-rom, still ad only, or turn it into BIG Storage. The write switch hasn't been found yet.
Cheers, M
Is anybody knows how to unlock Magicians' ext-rom? I need this feature!
First thing that comes to my mind is: Are you blind?
Next thing is: what do you mean with 'need it'? Do you want is visible or BIG Storage?
Visible with running the hidden \windows\loadvdisk.exe
BIG Storage see the wiki or one of my post from today.
Cheers, M

No, I am not blind! I knew how to make it visible. And I knew about big_storage (I don't want it).
All I want is to make my (already) visible ext-rom writable! Just to place my favorite progs to install automatically and delete useless ones from ext-rom!!! How can I do this? In your post above you said, that it is no "write switch'. Hmmm, this means that I can't make it writable, yeah? Toooo bad....
I don't know how to make it writeable, but do know how to change the ext-rom. Bal666 made a tool for this. It decodes the ext-rom to a fat-image so you can mount it as a disk, change it & flash it back.
It not as easy as writing directly to the ext-rom...you can customize it to your needs though.
Cheers, M
Btw offended?

Thanx, but windows didn't started after that... Everyhing was made correct...
Have waited for 5 minutes(maybe it's NOT ENOUTH?) (only the logo screan apeared), lthen aunch bootloader again, try mksbigstorage112 - copy my 416 bytes, flash - OK.
But radio still 1.11.
Now flash my native ROM back, cheksum OK.
want to try 1.12&BigStorage.
So, the questions are:
My device is Qtek S100,
native ROM version: 1.11.00 WWE
native Radio version: 1.11.00
native Protocol version: 1337.42
native ExtROM version: 1.11.113 WWE
1) If i take this ROM:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Magician/Shipped_ROMS/UK_11200_131_11210_ship.exe
change my 416bytes, change "80 00 to b8 01" twice,
Will it work on my qtec and it shoud have Big Storage, correct?
2) What WWE means? is it ok to flash ROM vithout WWE letters?
3) Used SD512mb, after ntrw read the flash, ROM size is 512mb, how to make it's size normal? And after saving in HEX file size doubled(1gb  )
Questions are simple, answer somebody, who knows, NOW please, want to try it immediately.
The first boot after a BS patch takes some time, some report around 10mins. & Only the ori.dumped rom has checksum OK. So I guess you did everything right as the splash appeared for those 5 mins you waited.
The UK_11200_131_11210_ship.exe is a shipped-rom & needs to be treated different. Follow these instructions http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianRomUpgrade & you should be having BS & radio 1.12. Btw WWE means World Wide English. Any rom without that can be any language incluing Chinese .
So read the instructions, be patient & GO!

Sure it can be cut around 64MB. When you've open a BS rom, a downloaded one or one made by mksbigstorager you'll notice that at the end of the rom there's a specific byte pattern. search that in your own dump, keep an eye on the address cause there are more then 1 occurences, & select everything in your rom from the beginning up till that last occurence (including those last bytes) & save it in a new .nb1

Why bad? it's very useful
Coudn't you hint me the link with 1.13 wwe, can't find it nowhere
btw, ROM's for Qtek S100, i-mate Jam, MDA compact are the same and O2 is a little different?
P.S. the phone really needs 5-10 min after flashing with byte-change ROM...
I got my 1.13WWE from http://www.t-mobile.nl/zakelijk/htdocs/page/service/mda_compact_upgrade.asp here.
Don't worry the rom is English.
Somehow formatting the device after applying BS take time.
All magicians are the same, except for the Greek one's. They don't except none Greek roms. O2 roms are having O2's active desktop or something like that. Still the CE rom is useable.
Succes, M

oh cool thanks man, how does this differ from the cab file?
its just the gif file, you can change the setting with advanced config or manually editing the registry
to point to the file
hklm/software/htc/htc animation startupgif /windows/semc1904.gif
Apologies for hijacking the thread slightly (it looks nicely resolved to me though), does anyone know where the initial Sony Ericsson image is stored - i.e. the one that greets you when you first fire up the Xperia?
I found SEMC2904.bmp in the Wndows folder which is exactly what the startup screen looks like, but even if I change that file the startup image stays the same.
Any ideas? Or failing that, is there a registry setting to change the path for the initial startup image?

Can't restore xperia animated logo
Hi there,
been trying to get back xperia animated logo but no luck, seems that registry keys are not enough.
I've messed witk Mainsplash and Subsplash and successfully changed both by modifying htc rom tool settings and playing with nbimg, but xperia animated logo doesn't have anything to do with bootsplash, it's managed bt registry and no need to mess with reflashing inital splashes.
Here's what occurs at wm boot:
1. Display Mainsplash
2. Display Subsplash
3. Display Animated logo
4. Display Welcomehead*.png
I 've also tried playing with registry keys which were used successflly by HTC prophet users to display boot animation (see : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1719336&postcount=19)
but still no luck...
Has anyone succesfully restored Xperia boot logo ?
EDIT: Solved!

Finally managed to get this stuff back, registry keys were not correct.
Here is a link for all those who want to get back their Xperia Boot Logo.
Unzip this file in your kitchen's OEM folder, it is ready to be cooked:
http://www.4shared.com/file/80625819/778c01d2/Xperia_stock_startup.html
(if you want to get it back without cooking anything, just put the file in \windows
on your device and edit your registry according to included keys in .rgu file)
Hope someone will find this usefull.
Cheers.
the reg key works prefectly in mine and on several other wwe roms are you on a french rom? that may be the problem..
you dont need to start playing with cooking roms just to get the htc animated startup working.
of course the easy way is to use advanced config to choose the gif you want to use.. and thats where i got the reg key from
Thank you for the answer fards, the problem was that at the beginning i was trying to put the wrong reg key which was included in archive posted some posts above.
First reg key i've tried was:
HKLM/software/htc/htcanimation
Tried also with a space between "htc" and "animation" but none worked.
By searching a little i found some htc prophet related posts with registry settings that put me on the right path.
After some unsuccessful tries i found that the following keys did the trick - at least for me -:
"Volumn"=dword:00000000
"WAVFile"="dummy"
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"GIFFile"="\\Windows\\SEMC1904.gif"
"Priority"=dword:000000C8
As you can see, the keys for playing a wave file when dislaying animation are here too.
Since i'm beginning in cooking stuff - and also in the whole ppc world - and wanted to make an ultralight ROM from my stock french one, i wanted to do everything at hand, in order to improve my understanding of the whole stuff, including little "cosmetic" details as well as critical system tweaks to fit my needs without using a single piece of additional software.
I've edited my previous post according to how i resolved this and included a zip archive to replace the one posted previously, which was including wrong registry settings.
Nice to see what we can achieve by working on various things and exchanging ideas, techniques and advises.
I've learned many thing since i began last week, but still a lot to learn...
Now i can go to the next level...
Cheers and thanks again.

changing default keyboard

Hi,
Everytime I soft reset my HD I have the same crappy WM6.1 keyboard as the default one, is there a way to make Fingerboard2 load automatically upon startup?
Thnx
What you need is a program called SIP Change. Do a search for it here in the forums and that does the trick. I have fingerkeyboard as default on my HD
Here is a link to the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271008
Click the link at the bottom of the first post
Or for your convienience
thnx! ill give it a shot
Just so you know; I installed SIP Change but it seemed to cause errors with GWES.EXE on every soft reset. Finally I restored back to pre-SIPchange and the gwes problems haven't reoccurred.
Which delay did you enter in SIP Change?
40 or 50 is recommended.
I don't remember what values I used, but I do recall different delays all causing the same error.
I'm thinking now that perhaps it was caused by me not being quick enough entering the PIN-code for my SIM-card and therefor exceeding the set delay? Maybe I'll give it another try and play around a bit more with the delay.
I try "60" is O.K. Or any?
I have the same issue,
I tried 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 and still not solved

I removed Sipchange and tried the solution based on stilus in the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514960
This solution will really change the imput method according to stilus position but the first time I open the message tool the keybord is still the standard one...
this solution works:
install mortscript
create a script-file in \Windows\Start Up\<any name>.mscr
add this line to your script:
Code:
SetInput("name_of_keyboard")
exact name_of_keyboard can be found under
settings -> personal -> input -> input method
Hi,
I have installed Mortscript and created a file TouchPal.mscr with
SetInput ("TouchPal")
but the problem still remains: the 1st time I want to write the keyboard is still the standard one.
In my Start up I have:
AutoShortcut
CWTimeOut
GAlarm Reload
iLock2
PKG
poulook
sdim
SipInst
TPStartup.exe
TouchPal.mscr
Any conflict?

have you uninstalled sipchange.cab?
it seems that sipinst and tpstartup.exe cause the conflict.
set input to any other than touchpal, then run the script manually - what happens?
if you remove sipinst, tpstartup.exe and touchpal.mscr, then reboot, does the touchpal keyoard still work?
if yes copy touchpal.mscr back to start up folder and rename to z_touchpal.mscr to make sure it is loaded as last app.
if no check out which file (sipinst or tpstartup.exe) you really need.
Hi,
Thanks for your help Egoist6.
I tried to remove sipinst, tpstartup.exe and touchpal.mscr then a rebooted and write a message, the keyboard is standard one but if I change to TouPal it will change and work.
I tried to run touchpal.mscr manualy and it changes the keyboard to TouchPal.
I then copied touchpal.mscr back to start up folder and renamed to z_touchpal.mscr, then rebooted but the keyboard is still the standard one
I'm lost ...
could you add
Code:
Message("Script Executed")
to the script (last line) just to check if it is executed properly.
reset.
do you get a popup window during startup?
another idea. add this as the first line. it will wait 5sec before the sip is set
Code:
Sleep(5000)
SIPchange problem
Sipchange changes the keyboard for me at boot, but then crashes instead of closing. So I get the annpying white screen asking to sond information to microsoft. This happens regardless the delay time (tried several values). Any idea?
thanks

Dear egoist6,
your script worked for me, thanks. But I had to increase the delay to 70000 (70 seconds), otherwise no success! So I use:
Code:
Sleep(70000)
SetInput("name_of_keyboard")
Thanks very much for your help!

Adding More Shortcuts to "TF3D-Programs-Tag"

Question:
ok, so we only have about 30 shortcuts on our programs tab right? well i added more, so now i have up to 51 shortcuts on my programs tab. i click on the extra ones added and everything goes well until after selecting a primary program to add, it doesnt add.
this is what i did.. maybe i missed a step!
Open Regedit and i went to the following root
*HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher.
i created new folders 31-51 and inside each folder i created the following strings and dword:
String Values Name: Command
String:
String Values Name: DispName
String:
String Values Name: IconPath
String:
String Values Name: Path
String:
DWORD Value Name: IsReadOnly
Data : 0
Then i went to the following root:
*HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\totalIte mCount.
and i changed the DWORD Data to 51.
i Restarted my phone and i stopped there.
Please advice cause this would be pretty badass if we can keep adding to our programs tab
If you search there is a cab that will set this up correctly, not sure where you've gone wrong, but the cab might fix it!
Gordon
i searched for said cab and couldnt find it... id love to be able to add more programs, esp ones that arent in the default program group.
As I've started to recover from the distress of the touch screen on my TP2 breaking and am in a slightly better mood! I thought I'd find the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534596 is what you're looking for.

I tried this cab and it doesn't fully work...
I see the 20 new spots in the program tab, but I can't add any programs on those new spots either. I select a program but it is not added

thanks for your time. ok so i took a look at the link and i havent tried the cab due to the fact that i spend a while manually adding the files in my registry but i did read there post and they did say you have to manually add the program through the registry.. so im going to try it and i will get back to you guys!
Example from the link:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLaun cher\30]
"DispName"="Total commander"
"IconPath"=""
"IsReadOnly"=dword:00000000
"Path"="\program files\tcmd\totalcommander.LNK"
so what im going to do that way you guys can try it if you want is the items in green are the items we will need to add manually.

Ok i Just tried it and it was successfull.. after you manually add the program on to the shortcut "Add" on your registry then due a quick restart and programs will show.
It sucks that you need to spend time on it doh..
I found the way to make the cab fully working... It missed a key to be modified.
Here's what I did :
1- Install the cab (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=202860)
2- Modify this key using a registry editor (ex.: task manager) :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/Manilla/ProgramLauncher]
"totalItemCount" (hex value) = "50" (it was 20)
3- soft reset ... that's it
With this simple modification, the + button are now fully working !

if you download a english rom you could put a empty file called welcome.not(.not is the file extension) on the root of youre storage and the align screen part gets skipped
As stated above the solution to skip or bypass the screen alignment process altogether is to use a blank text file called, welcome.not.
How to do it: there are a couple of ways you can find in the forum, however, one way is to create a blank text file called, welcome.not, instead of welcome.not.txt, and place it in the root of your storage card. Next, flash a new rom or hard reset and you're done.
If all goes to plan, the "welcome" phase will be bypassed, any you will not be prompted to align the screen or set the date, location, time etc. If for some reason it does not, go into the root of your SD and manually with your stylus or via activesync on your desktop create a new blank file in there and name it welcome.not.
Hope this helps
Thank youuuuu Fallen Spartan & miniterror dear's
