[Q] Can someone please point me in the right direction - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

No matter what ROM and Android builds i run, i always run into the SOD at some point. Can someone give me a stable, radio, ROM, and android combo that gets rid of the SOD and the other glitches in Android. Thank You,

Upgrade radio to 2.12.50.02.2, use the chuckyDROIDrom and then use BUILD 1.3 (1GB) of shubCRAFT and haven't I experienced a SOD yet!!!!

Sure buddy, just fast forward like a few weeks or months into the future and try any one of them out, they should all be good by then.
Point is, this is still a beta project. Some people rarely have issues, some more often then not. Yes the combo android/rom/radio plays a major factor, but individual usage, sd card type and other unique factors play a part as well. You can switch radios, but one that works great for me may result in bad signal for your area, the build I use might be better the way I use it but might not work as well for what you do on your phone. you might not get SOD but then the wifi won't work or within like that, ya know? Just use what works best for you and wait for a true release, no one said anything is flawless yet.
To try and help, I use:
Rom: chucky lite
Radio: 12.50.02.2
Android: mattc froyo 1.5
I get the occasional SOD and screen freeze but not often enough to really bother me.
A couple new builds just hit the forum today, try those out maybe you'll have more luck.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

i would also add to zero your sdcard. one if my Cheapo sdcards ebay $15 bucks 16gb, kept having SOD issues until i destroyed all of the data on it. I used active kill disk (do a search theres a thread on it). Solved the problem
my setup (sig needs to be changed)

I don't really understand, what are the benefits of flashing a new radio rom?

Anyone care to explain?
Flashing a different radio can give you better battery life, wifi, signal, voice call quality and maybe some other, I think...
How would I know which one is best for me?
Make sure you know everything about flashing first then just try suitable ones for your rom. There is some feedback in the various radio's threads but you'll have to work the search to find anything useful to you.
As new radio's are available i just try them. If they're no good i go back to the last one i had.
Remember to check which radio's are suitable for which rom's, there's only a few here for an HD2 so it's not to difficult. I used to have a Kaiser and there were loads available depending on what rom sys you had.
Are you on a custom rom or HTC?
I had a hard reset an hour ago so I'm HTC atm I'm looking to customize my phone the best. Also, where can I find Manila updates?

You cant update manila. You can either flash a newer ROM with a newer Manila Version (latest is 2015 i think as p.ex. used in Duttys HG 3.8) or you install some elements of the newer ManilaBuilds like the eReader, DokumentTab etc. (available as cabs here on the forum)
Greets
Its about the user experience... Picking an interface that suits you and what you use the phone for... Taking a good phone and making it fit you perfectly...
That's the quest of rom chefs and end users and most will flash a dozen roms to find the one that suits them...
I'm sure almost everyone here will agree it's well worth flashing custom rom's, they're far better than the stock HTC roms, just takes a bit of getting into to get the most out of it. A good backup and you can always go back to a stock rom.
No pressure....

Tim thanks you've been a great help although I want the max manila home theme. Looks smooth, I want my phone to look good as well as comfortable and speedy
Also, most ROM chefs will say which Radios work best for that ROM, and then you just need t be sure it's working well for you signa-wise in your area.
I had a non reccommended radio for Energy ROM, and I found Manilla would freeze, the phone would hang and reception would drop. One radio flash later, all this went away (and it only takes a minute and you don't lose any settings, so no biggie)

A few of the more prevalent chefs cook various versions for example the energy rom i'm using at the mo comes as a Co0kie version, a max sense version and a standard manila version. Not sure there's any max ultimate roms being cooked as maxcy now has a new interface he's working on, the said "maxsense" and hasn't updated max ultimate for a long time. Co0kies home tab is far better and far more stable, max sense is in it's early stages, probably has more potential but i understand it's got a few instabilities as it is.
Take a look at the link in my signature at the energy rom version. Not that i'm biased though i have, and will continue to try all sorts of roms. When you flash it's worth having a look at the last few pages of the rom's thread and then watch it again after you thread. Generally any probs you have will come up and any probs that don't normally mean it's something you've done different.
And also worth remebering the chefs do this for themselves and share it with us, it's fortunate they'll listen to some of our requests but really we have no right to ask for anything. We help report and sort any faults and generally the chefs will incorporate popular preferences like the energy rom doing all the variants of his rom.
I have always thought of this stuff as a bit like, why do you "chip" a car... most makers make what they think is the best within their limits for their products... they want ease and minimum hassle or comebacks... but some very bright sparks are bound to come along and make it better.. I know when I brought a diesel car, after having nice sports cars before, everyone thought I was mad.. but by chipping it, my BHP jumped 50%, my Torque 35% and my MPG went up to around 60mpg on a good run... so the benefits are there if you are willing to take the chance and change a few things..
I am using Laurentius26 GoldEdition V2.1. I have played around with previous versions from the same cook but it all comes down to finding one that works well with your apps and your needs..
I have previously used many SPB products but found that the basic shell wrecks havoc from time to time.. it can work but not in the way that I want.. so I just dropped it.. all the other stuff works but it really is trial and error..
I am by no means an expert, my constant questions on here shows that, but I do appreciate what I have learnt from here and realised almost immediately that a cooked rom was better than a standard one but you need to find one that suits you..
I had horrible internet connection problems with my stock 1.66 rom and radio combination.
Flashing to radio 2.10.50.28_2, solved those problems.
So that is why.

I am from Europe yes.
I do not believe that flashing a radio rom enables the 576 ram.
I am still showing 448 MB ram.

ROM for Froyo?

i have read and understand some of it. my question is what is what is the good ROM for TMOUS to run froyo 2.2. what i have right now is. radio: 2-10-50-26. ROM: Cell EVO V1, and HSPL: 2.08.hspl. with that when i ran android. some time it went dead and have to remove the battery. or play youtube with green screen flicking. and its have a hard time to get GPS signal or not even detect any gps.
so i once again i have Tmobile USA HTC HD2. thanks in advance.
Honestly, I was in the same shoes as you. But, here is the new update.
Updated FROM 2.10.50.26 to 2.12.50.2_2
Then went to this rom, put it on
And got this froyo.
So far....
BEST yet, no SOD for me or freezes and been using for a day and a half now. Nice.
what if i'm on on the 2.13 radio...cause i did download this and everything worked but the sound when i would make a call...i couldn't hear anything...would you know what i needed to do...thank you..
Thanks. try the rom and froyo given from the link above its apear to be stable for now. no sleep of death. if im not wrong its the froyo 2.1 that you are running righ now right? . i got some problem with the froyo 2.2 too. camera doesn't work on the camcorder i had to forclose. GPS doesn't in current position while driving. have not have a chance to use gps the 2.1 yet, but i like the speach to tex that froyo 2.2 has. another issued i had is the phone is getting hot while in my carry pouch and its not beeing used no apps is running.
Stick with the, 2.12 radio and install shubcraft , the most solid, fully working, and flexible build I have used

True. I have to admit I used darkstone's builds for the longest time, before going to shubcraft. Ultimately, most if not all of the builds available are far enough along now that issues Should be minimal. the devs have really done an amazing job across the board'

[Q] Removing Android

Ive had Android running on my HTC HD2 for about a week now and i like it..
but it just isnt stable enough for me, my phone wont respond for around 30-60 seconds when waking it up from being locked.. the battery life is around 6 hours, and the camera hardly works..
So i want to go back to windows, which ROM should I use? I want the best windows ROM possible, i have HTC HD2 with Orange (UK) I was looking for WinMo 7.
Also how can i back-up all my messages and contacts from android so that they will go back into WinMo. Thanks.
This one is my recommendation http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
i need to flash the latest 4th Sept version myself.
Bear in mind Android is still in Beta stage and everything is not 100% yet, ive been using shubCRAFT 1.5 build and asides from a few issues to which ive all but got solutions for (people are generally helpful on here) it's far superior to any WINMO ive flashed, obviously the battery drain is still a hot topic of conversation and ongoing thing that the developers are working on.
It's been recomemnded to me to use http://www.dotfred.net/ to back up contacts so ill be giving this a go.

[Q] Which rom actually FULLY works?

I have yet to figure this out. There is always something wrong with all of these builds. By no means am I complaining because I couldn't do better but just want to know. As in fully I mean wifi tethering, phone speaker, camera, etc. I just want the basic froyo on my US T-Mobile. Nothing extra or fancy or without updating my radio. If I give someone my software info could they help me out? Thanks

This is the wrong section for this question. But my everyday build is mdeejays http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780525
or Coredroid http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8214568&postcount=1
They both work perfectly for me.
Read this page tell all new info added to kernel, most of the roms are fully working only some of them have few issues, ave personally not had many problems
Here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=719646
mattc 1.8 with hastarin 7.1 - I can't find anything wrong in this combination, apart from the premature flash when taking photos in the dark. But everything else - is just the purest perfection
Ops and Devs - I know this thread is in the wrong place, but I would advise on letting this live, as it will prove that there is no such thing as best ROM. People will put different ROMs as their favourite - and at the end of the day I am sure that all of the variation will be mentioned at least once - hence proving the point
the annoying truth is most of the builds differ from person to person - so the best way to find out which build is best for you, well, you've just got to try it out for yourself!
if you're having problems, you may want to try changing your winmo rom, radio etc, just incase the problems that you're getting are to do with that

I couldnt agree with you more.
NONE...
Either you get music skip, rotation problems, cam not flashing correctly or wifi and 3g not working correctly, bluetooth problems and sudden freezes, all a bit like good old Windows mobile really, but its getting there...soon it will be the best Android device available
As stated already.
All builds are different, and you will need to find the one that fits you best.

TMOUS? Is it a problem?

I am hoping to buy a HTC HD2 Tmobile tomorrow and I was wondering what does TMOUS mean and will a run of the mill HD2 be able to run Android or do I need a unbranded version or something?
Thanks!
the tmo HD2 is better than EU version, it has 1024ROM
you will most likely need to HSPL, change radio and ROM. (winmo)
then pick your android ROM, HTCCLay has a rom on HD2 as well. you should like it.
just look around, and search you will find all the answers you need....
and thank you for posting this in general.
hey
tmous...is (t mo)bile...(us)
i have a tmobile hd2. I am now running the darkstone 3. Loaded it today. YOU NEED TO ENTER A CELL CARRIER for mobile data. APN is epic.tmobile.com. This one the flash is off on the camera, weird delay, but BT works, in car so far and headphones. Haven't tried the tethering and usb tethering.
i ran a darkstone 2.6 i think for two weeks. Locked up ALOT on 3g/edge changes and no power/charge led light. It would seriously lock up with changing towers. Also very very slow with satellites. You need a fair amount of software patches work around, and its only pretty good. Usb tether worked. Bluetooth worked for music/car and phone. Charge lights did not. Camera worked with flash. Still loved it, just the app choices alone make it the lock ups worth it in my opinion.
Just testing the darkstone 3, and seems fine. Rapid Location/gps/sattelites. Phone does not seem to hang or lock up with preliminary testing from 3g to edge. Will test it more tomorrow as i drive thru about multiple towers and will bt music to car, call someone, and text at same time. the 3g speed is much quicker than the 2.6 darkstone.
just check which android you are using. Its hard to find HTC sync to sync with outlook, but you can find it on the web.
Be warned....android changes contacts from last name first to first name last, and stuff......there will be major changes once you do change to android if you are seriously connected to outlook. But livable, taking time to adjust, android does not have all the categories and recurrances and stuff.
edit: yep i downloaded a stripped Winmo, and am running android off the sd card. Look for one with radio upgrade.

i think the correct apn is epc.tmobile.com although epic would be nice
i've been using android on my tmous hd2 for about 3 months, and it's incredible. i was ready to toss the hd2 before trying android. i've only tried the one android build, but since i havn't had ANY problems with it, i figured why change it over and over? i've never had any problems with constant freezes or anything, im happier than a pig in ****. i've only had to remove the battery because of a freeze up maybe 5 times since i've had it, with winmo i'd do that up to 5 times a day.
just read up and educate yourself about what you're doing. don't rush into flashing and etc if you have never done it. read everything posted about it in the stickies and you'll be a happy man.
i'm using:
schubcraft 1.5 android (only complaint is data drops for a min or two here or there)
core cell evo 3.0 windows rom (only winmo rom i've used, but i'd imagine it's one of the best, and it doesn't give me trouble with android like other builds)
radio 2.14.50
seriously, just read up on these forums, xda is an incredible place for our phones
