[Q] quadrant standard slow - Vibrant General

My wife's phone runs quadrant standard really slow it takesb like 5 minutes to run with rooted vibrant and lag fix. Plus it's only registering about 750. Please help.

That's normal if you haven't installed a LagFix. Its not a bad thing either, the phone is still plenty fast.

and if you don't want to root and apply the fix, just wait until the froyo update comes out. your numbers then should drastically improve and of course, so should the overall speed.

If you're still getting that low of a score, clearly something went wrong with the fix. I would use odin and restore a stock image and then start over if it were me.

That's NOT normal... It never took my Vibrant or my wife's 5 minutes to run the Quadrant tests, before or after the fix.

Which lag fix did you perform cuz the one I performed has my Quadrant scores no lower the 2100? Something went wrong with whatever you did.

Here is what I did with mine and I am now at about 1400 quadrant. I didnt use any lag fix at all. I simply loaded a clean rom copy via oden and then loaded vibrant4. The only change I made was to replace the framework-res.apk file in vibrant4 with the stock one in order to stop the reboots caused by the battery fix.
Thats it been rock solid stable for days now.

Total Noob Here. Why isn't my rooted G1 faster?

I rooted my G1 and installed CyanogenMod 6 because I wanted my phone to be as fast as this guys:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVeKboqn6LU
Problem is that mine isn't as fast as his. In Linpack I only get about 2.0 MFLOPS (average), but in the video he got like 3.5 MFLOPS and he said that sometimes it goes up to four. The highest I've seen mine go up to is 2.5. Also, there is a lag when I go to the home screen. It takes a few seconds to load. It doesn't feel much faster than it was before I rooted. So I'm a total noob at this. I just rooted my phone tonight following the directions on this board. Can you guys help me make my G1 faster?
Could try disapling dithering and enabling comcache / jit
Menu > Settings > Cyanogenmod settings > Performance (I think its in there)

To be honest our phones just don't have the horse power to be blazing fast. If you look, he is only using 1 widget and its hard to say exactly how he has it setup. Most of what he shows is just flicking back and forth. You should look at the 2 threads Firerat has going in the development section. Make sure you read at least the first post 2 or three times to make sure you understand what things do and why. Some things will speed your phone up some will not. A lot of this is just how it "feels" to you. Good luck.

He is using JIT probably with a High Swap Part also and a task killer and autokiller running in the back. JIT gives you high numbers on Linpack right around 4. Thats what I am getting on Speedteam Froyo V2.0 with JIT enabled.
Honestly, if you want a "fast phone", use Android 1.6
Hey thanks for the responses guys. I am now using SuperD and I love it. It is fast and I feel like I can use this phone for a few more months now.

How do they make things worse? You can't be serious? I mean, some of them may not cure it completely (though I reckon the voodoo one seems so far to get pretty close at least), but they definitely don't make things any worse than before the lag fix.
I have to say that i have OCLF that turns your file system into a ex2 instead of the stupid proprietary file system that samsung used and it's faster than a lightning right now.
Have it for a week now and it's running smooth so far.
I wonder if there is any logic explanation for Samsung to use the proprietary RFS filesystem instead of the regular ex2 or ex4? It's reallyyyyyyyy a bigggggggggggg difference on performance.

I haven't had this problem, but... couldn't you just undo and then redo the lagfix after 2 weeks if it's slowed down for you? Then it would be fast again, right?
JPK was still just a little too buggy for me, nothing has come close to JM8+Voodoo in my experience. Also to the guy saying that the lag fixes make it worse, you obviously haven't tried voodoo, it perfects the SGS by converting to the file system the phone should have had in the first place.

Many you should sell the phone and buy a iphone.
Lagfix do work. If they don't work then its because you have done something wrong with you phone.
A had lagfix on it with 2.1 and i did it when i upgrade to 2.2. It was the first thing i did so i knew that i did NOT had anything that would interfere with it.
All working super. No lag.

+1 lagfix is overrated. My wife's sgs is running on voodoo, and she complains of lag after about a week. Ran quadrant and score is only 1200+. Reboot her phone and it's snappy again. Quadrant score shot up to 1708. I reboot mine everyday and never have any issues with lags. So regardless of what lagfix you applied, nothing beats a regular reboot.
When I had just over 50 apps installed, I noticed a real lag issue, especially when trying to access any of the conventional phone utilities, like phone, contacts or messaging. Quadrant was returning a score of 851. Installed RyanZA OCLF after reading about it on here and I can confirm that there were no issues, worked like a charm. Quadrant score was now 2265 and the phone was noticably zippy. I dont tend to switch the phone off and have noticed the phone starting to lag a bit (after about a weeks use) however, a quick reboot and its just like when I first installed the lag fix.
Appart from the lag fix and of course root access, the phone is still standard with Eclair XXJM1.
LAg fix works man . . . i am on JPK with lag fix its works

No, I'm sure he's got OCLF. Without lagfix froyo isn't any quickier than eclair as of now. Actually, it's slower. I used to get 2200 points with JM9 + OCLF. Now with JP6 + OCLF i get 1850p.

Do you mean it's slower, or rather that it gets a lower Quadrant score? Those are two entirely different statements. I realize the OP mentions Quadrant scores specifically and I apologize for sort of imposing my opinion, but such benchmarks, especially with such little score difference and such major operating system differences, do not tell you a whole lot at all.
One separate test of Quadrant might bottleneck the entire score, even when all other parts of the system are much faster. Just look at how a simple 'lag fix' suggests the phone is twice as fast (quadrant goes from 1k to 2k) which of course, is not the case. Also look at how Cyanogen gets a 3K score with a simple hack, where the phone speed was barely altered.
So I am curious about real world performances:
Do you still get lags on Froyo?
Does the GPS take only a few seconds to get a fix?
Does it launch apps almost instantly stock or with some lag fix?
Does it feel ultra responsive, as should be the result of using a JIT compiler?
Does it render webpages faster than iPhone 4 like the Nexus One, like it should?
Does it still run actual applications, such as Quake 3, faster than any HTC despite their higher Linpack scores, and is there an increase in FPS since Eclair?
Would love to hear about this!
Do you still get lags on Froyo?
- I think it lags more than last eclair builds
Does the GPS take only a few seconds to get a fix?
- Same as JM9. Haven't played with gps in outdoors so can't be specific with fix times
Does it launch apps almost instantly stock or with some lag fix?
- Same as JM9, or slower. Lagfix makes it ok.
Does it feel ultra responsive, as should be the result of using a JIT compiler?
- No, even though others have said that JIT is on.
Does it render webpages faster than iPhone 4 like the Nexus One, like it should?
- Webpages are ultra laggy when there is flash content
Does it still run actual applications, such as Quake 3, faster than any HTC despite their higher Linpack scores, and is there an increase in FPS since Eclair?
- Don't know

1: yes (when no lagfix applied)
2: yes <5s on warm start, <30s on cold start
3: yes with lagfix only
4:i don't think thats the result of the compiler, just the lagfix but yes, and the JIT does make things a little faster overall
5: no the browser is a bit slow i don't know why. Even Fennec alpha is much faster.
6: yes Q3 is extremely smooth, full details + lightmap, getting 56-60fps (=FPS cap on the SGS), it never slows down
Note that Q3 is using the NDK as in native app. I don't know if Linpack tests native code.
Do you still get lags on Froyo?
Not that i've noticed but I will be installing Voodoo anways.
Does the GPS take only a few seconds to get a fix?
GPS is A LOT better.
Does it launch apps almost instantly stock or with some lag fix?
Certain Apps launch almost instantly where others take a few seconds such as PikPok Games, Fruit Ninja, etc.
Does it feel ultra responsive, as should be the result of using a JIT compiler?
Seems fast to me but only as it's a new install will wait a few days, plus I install Voodoo's fix anyway for the screen fixes too.
Does it render webpages faster than iPhone 4 like the Nexus One, like it should?
No, we have flash it's more demanding but you can set it to be on demand then its just on par with them no major difference.
Does it still run actual applications, such as Quake 3, faster than any HTC despite their higher Linpack scores, and is there an increase in FPS since Eclair?
Not sure but all games i've played are smooth without a hiccup.
hope this helps
1000 in Quadrant and 14 in Linpack
New Froyo+OCLF = 1722 Quadrant
No problems. Gps, camera,market... all is ok.
How are you guys getting such a large score? I'm getting about 1000 and it shows the Samsung Galaxy S on the graph even less (I assumed 1000ish was better than the average score). Or am I using some newer version of the app?? :/
XXJPK with OCLF
I've tested 3 times with Quadrant. Scores: 1550, 1764, 1995.
Phone works much faster after OCLF.
I takes 2 seconds to open a book in Aldiko instead 10.
My galaxy s with froyo, one click root and one click lag fix scores 2029. If i could post a url of the picture i would, but i'm not allowed
ive tried jp6 and jpm and not impressed with either. still getting some lag, even when switching home screens with a live wallpaper.
If you use oclf with quadrant you want get a real result.
What i understand it's one database test that is not real.
It don't do it right. The result is that it seems faster then it is.
Sent from GT-I9000 Jpm OS kernel with z4mod
My quadrant bench mark is 2017.
I've got JPK, OCLF v2.2 and SETCPU installed.
If anybody is interested in a little comparison to the HTC Desire:
1550 on LeeDroid 2.2f (Froyo) with OC to 1153 MHz. Some got speeds upto 1700 with more overclocking, but that'll heat up the phone beyond healthy values, I guess. Do not want to put in a fan there .
So with some optimizations like lag fix and file system enhancement the Galaxy S is a really fast Smartphone indeed, let alone the 3D graphic performance. Cudos!

KA6 is frickin awesome !

Latency decreased from like 540 ms to 65ms and data speeds spiked from like 2 mb/s to about 4.6 mbits per second now.
I flashed ka6 OVER NEROV5 AND IT IS AWESOME.
Just to forewarn you. You'll get a message about the titles of this thread.
But any other enhancements to this ROM?
the rom has alot of elements from gingerbread and nexus s phone and gingerbread multitouch keyboard.
What are these...elements of Gingerbread you speak of? You're the first person to say anything about the build..
I think he thought you were talking about Nero.
I didn't like it, was getting slower data speed on this one.. so flashed back to ka5
just a ququestion.. i never noticed this till like now, the back of my phone is hot, i just checked and it's 106 degrees.. is that normal? I'm not charging right now, just listening to music and browsing the web, is it because of the leaked firmware?

Really, doesn't everything need more cowbell?
KA6: I have been using it since it was released. It is nice. Better GPS than the previous releases. I do wonder why its not giving a faster quadrant score. I think it's RFS and the absence of a JIT compiler. Why can't Samsung just change to EXT 4? I'm not an expert by any means but the lag fixes use EXT 4. I know Quadrant is not an end-all-be-all test, but why would the Nexus one be putting out big numbers on older hardware?

Absence of a JIT compiler? I thought THAT was a feature added in Froyo.
Who said this build didn't have a JIT compiler? It runs 13-14 Linpack scores just like every other SGS Froyo build. The compiler is not optimized for our processor, so you don't get the N1 type of scores. Gingerbread is optimized, which is the reason for the giant leap in stock Quadrant (ext 4 helps too). Patiently waiting for Krylon to work the bugs out of GB

[Q] having issues after running cm7 rc1 to stock

ive noticed that my quadrant score have gone down a lot.. max i can get is 1800 which i use to get a little over 1900. but most of the time i get around 1500 now.. then all my downloaded apps i noticed keeps disappearing so it shows i have no apps installed which is odd.. is there anyway to fix this?? i would appreciate it if someone can help me out.. thanks
i was running
cm7 rc1 then i wanted to go back to stock but i didn't want to unroot my phone so i left it rooted (s off).
i did this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863899 but i started from 9 and everything worked and i stayed rooted but like i said i cant figure out why my apps disappear in the market and my quadrant scores went down pretty good..
Sound to me liked you never wiped you phone between flashing.
And any Quadrant score is not accurate. My quadrant.floats around 2100 but this phone feels so much smother than quadrant is leading me to believe it is.
