Slide and Sipdroid woes - myTouch 3G Slide General

Anyone else is experiencing call quality issues with sipdroid on slide? I've been using sipdroid on dream and magic but ever since I've got slide I experience lost packets every now and then to the point it becomes unusable.
I seem to have less problems with sipdroid 1.4.7 and more problems with 1.5.5, but maybe it's just a placebo effect, I don't really know.
It's not the kind of the audio driver problems which exist on samsung and motorola phones -- sipdroid works but it must be something in the kernel or something which causes sipdroid to lose packets.
Oh and if you want to suggest me to file a bug in the sipdroid tracker -- forget about it, nothing good comes out of it.

What, nobody else is using sipdroid on slide?

i dont even know what that is, so i cant help with your problem.

Sort of reply to myself -- with the CM 6 RC1 and the 768 kernel sipdroid seems to be behaving well. So I'm guessing it has something to do with the kernel/CPU settings for Slide.

Dialpad not responding to touch

Hey all,
I just upgraded recently to JF V1.5 and I noticed that the onscreen dialpad does not respond to touch when a call is in process. I have to open the keyboard to input. Its annoying as hell.
I looked all through the settings to see if there was some option to enable/disable the screen during a call but I didnt see anything.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is it a known issue?
I too have had this problem. A reboot will generally fix it. Have you had any issues with calls coming in and Android core locking up?
In any case, I think that in at least in my case, the program "Owner" might be suspect. What do you have installed on yours? Perhaps we can compare and get this narrowed down.
Well the problem went away even without a reboot. It hasnt been consistent.
I havent had any lockups during calls though. The only apps I have installed are:
wifi tether
twidroid
last.fm
skype
where
pixelpipe
movie finder
jf updater
bank of america
beetag
thats pretty much it.
I'm getting the same issue. Of all those apps the only 2 I have are JF and Pixelpipe. I'll uninstall them and see.
It isn't consistently happening for me either but it is damn annoying when it does. I hope Magic users don't get it, without the keyboard you'd be stuffed.

[Q] (Android) Skype on HD2 - Success/Fail stories ?

Recently Skype has made their app finally available to the world.
Now it can work over WiFi.
(Find on their website or market)
I've tried it on NexusOne and it seems to work. Signs in (when their servers are not overloaded) and even makes calls (for free between online skype users).
On HD2 Android builds the story is different:
App installed and signs in, but will force close immediately at any attempt to do more than scrolling the list of contacts.
What are your experiences?
Edit: Could it be related to LCD Density? Or compatibility Mode?
I couldn not even sign in.It says can not conect and will forse close
it works fine for me.. but that is because i use the app from 3 uk.. but yeah no problems at all.. as they have the Desire in their device portfolio i just browsed to their website from a desire build and installed it..
No problems for me.it works perfect. I have darkstone's v3.1 version.i have download it from market
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
working well for me here, calls, chats everything flawless.

Do you use the default 240 LCD Density?
Ever since it's possible to increase it I've been use 16 or 180.
I am at the moment with NexusHD2 (2.2.1) build and I will try playing with another build later today, possibly it's an issue with Android 2.2.1.
Skype's working fine for me with Froyostone 3.1 (Desire) with Hastarin 7.1. First time I tried to login it gave an error for login, but I noticed it had to do with my internet connection which was already unstable both via 3G as well as WiFi. I updated my radio from 2.12.50.02 to 2.14.50.04 and now it works fine.
Sound is very clear and all features like skype credits and online numbers work properly. No videocalling yet, but hopefully we can expect it soon...
Thumbs up for Skype!
I installed it and everything worked perfectly...I was a little peeved to find out that it did not work over 3G so I uninstalled it.
Then I decided to reinstall it and wait it out for an update when we can make calls over 3G...now it will not even sign in....any ideas?
No problems for me. It works perfect.
RReckless
Eventually got it to login today.
Keep getting force close messages, especially when selecting the Details tab!
Ho hum...
Works perfectly.
Sometimes i cant hear the people talking but they can hear me and if i want to reboot it it takes along time to exit the app and right after that i will get an error to force close the app.
But when it works i can hear everyone clearlly and without any LAG.
Just reverted to 240 and it got working.
But I hate such big density on the hd2. That's the reason I avoid sense builds to make the most from the big screen :-(
Better use nimbuzz.

Skype works perfectly. I called my cousin overseas on Skype, he answered on his Nexus One. Sound was clear, with very little delay. Answering calls is a bit awkward because I was juggling it but in the end it was easy. being logged on to Skype increases battery drain, unfortunately. I went from 5mA standby to 45mA
Only one problem.
The screen was acting funny during the call when I held it to my ear. I'd move it back and forth to get it to turn off the screen. Sometimes it wouldn't, sometimes it would go dark but not turn off the backlight, sometimes it would.
Anyway, all of this is the app's problem, just need to wait for patches
I can't find it on market, and when i try downloading it from the skype website it says that it is not available for my device ??!? I'm using HyperDroid 1.5
I'm from Morocco, if there 's a restriction by country I do not see why it does not work from their website

A hacked Skype was recently released, allowing you to use 3G. check Engadget for more info.
i'm running mattc's 1.8 with r7.2 kernal, 2.14 radio and energy wm rom. the app loads fine and setup ok. on my first and so far only call i could hear the other party but they could not hear me. the connection sounded very bad and i called back not using skype. that was over 3g so i don't know if i just had a not so strong signal or if it was something else. going to try on wifi and retry on 3g somewhere else. will update results.
Can you guys quit skype or stop it from running? seems to be leeching my battery power..

The Markey download/update problem

Anyone know the reason this is happening?
It's not just on our phones... my buddy's evo does it too. and on top of it, if you enable wifi, it starts rights up. some said gtalk fixes it too
I'm just curious why most android people have this problem. it's annoying as hell.
can it be 2.1 related? I think 2.2 does it too though

[Q] Android calling problems

hey,
maybe anyone can help me, since i installed android. Its been a long time btw but i got some problems when i get calls or want to call someone. Sometimes everything works quite well. But sometimes, when i pick up or the other persons picks ups, after a few seconds the call interrupts with wired sounds.
I dont know why, got somebody else similiar problems? or does anybody know a solution to fix this issue?

The radio is the latest version. Flash it.
And disable dial tones of your rom. they should be in settings somewhere

But my question is, did somebody else got those problems? I searched forum and found only one thread, but there was also no solution for it.
#edit

Receiving random calls

Hey guys I'm on the xxx ROM 3.5 with ex kernel 1.08. I receive 1-2 phonecalls a day from a weird number. Will come through like "+2060" or "64751" and nobody is ever on the other end. Is this my phone/ROM/Satan calling me or am I actually getting spammed and does anybody else deal with this?
I don't think a custom ROM can do that. So you'll be left with Satan or someone is messing with you.

someone is calling you through internet.
There is a huge wave of ping calls going on at the moment (at least in Germany). You should file a complaint with your telecomms authority and never call those numbers back.
You could do it easily is well ,VOIP . Just Try Stuntcalls On PlayStore (Beginners).
