No, I am not having the wake lock issue.
Fresh comes preloaded with a facebook app, and as the new update came out I went into the market looking for it. I went to download the app, and upon installing it I get an error reading
"Installation Error: Package file was not signed correctly"
I've read that upon getting this error, you are to simply uninstall the old facebook app and reinstall a new one. However, Astro will not allow me to uninstall the application. So, I'm stuck. Any help would be much appreciated!

android - 2.2
rom - latest fresh
Try uninstalling it threw the actual Phone settings. IE:Settings>Applications>Manage Applications.
That worked for me. I was having the same problem

There are several threads here dealing with the market download unsuccessful error. Unfortunately, none of the solutions have helped me to this point. I am currently on the AOSP ish JK2 1.1 ROM, but two days ago I was on one of the sombionix ROMs and I was having the same problem. In fact, this "download unsuccessful" error was one of the reasons I wanted to try a different ROM. Bottom line is, I don't think it is ROM related.
So, I am getting the download unsuccessful error for most apps that I try to get from the market. Funny thing is, some apps work fine and install fine. I have tried clearing the cache/data for the market app and the download manager app from settings->applications->manage applications and going to market and download manager. I have seen tips that suggested uninstalling the market??? but I couldn't figure out how, since it the option to uninstall was grayed out. Is download manager even needed? I have seen some people that say they freeze it with titanium to conserve battery. I have seen where some people that have this problem use Astro after getting the error and then browse to the apk and install it manually. The problem is, I can't install astro because... wait for it... I get the download unsuccessful error. I adb shell'ed and looked for the market download folder, but I couldn't find it. Where is it, anyway?
It's not just download unsuccessful errors that I am getting. I also have times where the download never starts. Sometimes I have to cancel and restart the download several times before it will actually download (sometimes ending with a download unsuccessful error after it reaches 100%).
In summary, the questions are:
1. Is uninstalling an re-installing the market an option? How do I do this?
2. Is freezing download manager a good idea?
3. Where is the market download folder?
4. Any other suggestions for getting past these errors and having a market that actually works most of the time?
I have issues with unsuccessful downloads as well. Latest one was LauncherPro and Google Voice. LauncherPro I download from the developers website and Google Voice I managed to resolve by going in and deleting the Marketing cache.
As for the question of deleting the market you would have to use something like Titanium Backup. But make sure to find a Froyo compatible Market APK first.
Well, I don't know why it would help, but I froze com.sec.android.providers.downloads in titanium and it seems that I can now download some of the apps that before I could not.
I would still really appreciate it if someone could take a stab at the other questions I have asked in the OP.
Anyone? Please?
I have tnt lite running on my tablet, and went through the full instructions on the guide on this forum of installing it and the marketplace and flash fixes. However I never got the full marketplace on my tablet (no angry birds, lots of apps missing). I also would often get an error every so often about the Google Framework Services having and error, and recently my tablet would reboot often while i was browsing. Then flash started having issues of not loading sometimes, etc. So what I did was I redownloaded titanium backup, installed it, force closed Google Framework Services and Market, went into titanium and wiped data for Google Framework Services and Market and then tried to open the market and got the error. I then rebooted the device and I tried to access market. At first it wasnt opening so i rebooted again and then it started working, however it still isnt the full marketplace. Also randomly the Google Framework Services error came up again. How can I get the full marketplace working? Would you recommend that I backup this rom and just reflash with the 2.2.1 tnt and start over again? I dont have much data on it and can start from scratch easily.
Ok so I have gotten rid of the Framework error and stability issues. I did a factory reset which seemed to have cured a lot of those issues. However I still dont have the full andriod market. I followed the steps again but I keep getting a limited version of the market with barely any apps. Is there something else I need to do to get this working better? I have heard of people getting the full market with angry birds, etc on it, so I know it can be done..
Some of the roms, sepcifically the Vega one, I wasnt able to get the market to work on correctly. I finally did by doing a factory reset, installing Cyanogen mod, Cyanogen gapp pack, and than flashing the Vega one over it without a reset.. and then the usual market fix. And it finally worked. There has to be a better more reliable way though. (From my understanding, it should work out of the box with Vega since it uses the release key instead of the test key in build.prop. But it does. )
I don't think the "fix" has given *anyone* completely full market, has it?
I've done the fix on TNT Lite, newest release, and newest VEGAN and I am still missing apps here and there.

I seemingly have access to the full market. I applied the fix referenced on the TNT tutorial page:
Setting / Applications / Manage Applications / Running / "Clear cache"; then "Force stop"
Then go up to Google Services Framework and "Force stop"
Open Titanium Backup; click on "Backup/Restore" and scroll to Google Services Framework 2.2.1 - and "Wipe data"
Go back to Home and launch Market. You should receive an error message (if not, repeat steps above).
Reboot and you should be good to go.
I also installed the latest update to the market (via update.zip) referenced here
A short (shaky cam) view showing the new market here.

Correct, to the best of my knowledge, even with a good build fingerprint in build.prop (now pre-done for you in Vegan ROM) and after applying Market Fix, we still seem to be lacking a few apps here and there from Market. Perhaps 2-5% of the apps in Market are still missing. Off the top of my head, Pocket Legends, Tank Hero, one of the MAME ports are known to be still missing. Some other minor apps.
CyanogenMod is the only ROM that apparently doesn't have this issue, though I haven't tried it to verify that for myself.
hi, i installed mdeejays android version succesfully, however some apps fail to install via market.
for example angry birds and the latest facebook app. the smaller apps will install without any problem. but the important apps wont. what can i do about this?
i read something about unmounting SD card. i tried that. But still got the problem.
What should i do?
I really want the facebook 1.5.0 app
tnx
Do you get an error or do they just stuck on 100% after downloading?

I get an error. But sometimes the download just cancels itself.
however, the main problem is the error. because i could download the apk file via rapidshare etc.
But the problem is the error. the error says after the install bar runs:
Application did not install. (in dutch)
The other problem, with the download cancelling is like this:
when selecting an app for download, the download bar starts running.
But after a few seconds the download bar disappears by itself. so eventually, the app never reaches my phone. in fact the download never completes.
so there are 2 problems. but the first problem is worse than the second.
However, it would be great if you could help me to solve them both.
First problem: i get an error when installing certain apps.
second: My downloads from the market wont complete.
sorry for any weird sentences, english is not my first language.
Kinda glad to know that I'm not the only one with the same problem... still trying to figure out what happened.
I know a clean install will fix the problem but I don't want to go through that again...
My phone is a Motorola Milestone running CM6 10.12.22
i just did a clean install from the latest android out there (darkstone superram 0.1) with the dutch vodafone data mod and i cannot download a single byte from the market. the market itself works fine over wifi or G3, but all files refuse to download.
thing that sucks as well is that i have the apk for applanet on the sd card but a cannot get to it as the darkstone lacks a sd card explorer app....
When that happened to me, Market reported an error -18. An online search recommended deleting a hidden directory ".android_secure" on the SD card. I'm running CM6.1 on a CDMA Hero with most of my apps running from the SD. From what I found online, that secure stuff is for Froyo apps2sd... which is why some apps downloaded and installed okay, and why some apps downloaded, but failed to install.
You can also try some cache dumps including Dalvik. Run "Fix Permissions" in ROM Manager. Then try the downloads again. If that still doesn't work, you might want to delete the ".android_secure" hidden directory.
Make sure to do a Nand backup and copy the contents of the SD card onto your computer before attempting any fix. Play it safe.
Good luck.
Hey all,
I've rooted my Nook stock before, and had it work just fine, but after awhile it became very unstable and slow. I recently re-rooted, using GMPOWER's method, everything seems to be working, except the Android Market.
I followed the steps for limited market visibility, but there's been no change. The Market won't update to Google Play, and when I access it, it doesn't show any apps - just a message stating, "No matching content in Android Market." I am able to search for some apps, but very few show up. (I've installed File Expert, and updated it just fine, but that's about it.)
For the life of me, I can't figure out what's wrong. My Gmail app works fine. But my Amazon Appstore .apk won't install either. It'll ask if I want to install using App Installer or Package Installer, but both give an error message. App Installer says, "Unable to install. This application was not able to install onto your device," as if my device were not rooted. Package Installer says, "Cannot parse the package." I tried downloading a newer version of the Google Play Store, and got the same errors.
I feel like I might be missing something obvious, but I can't figure it out. I'm tempted to revert back to 1.4.2 or earlier and re-root again, but that's a lot of work (mainly to download all my B&N content again).
Any thoughts or suggestions or mere stabs in the dark? Anyone?

Have you tried installing Rom Manager via sideloading and wiping the Dalvik cache? If that does not work try installing a custom ROM.
Hello, so il get right to the point
I cant update any of the google apps.
When trying to update Google music app, it gives me the "package file was not signed correctly.Uninstall the previous Copy if the app and try again."
now, this problem also accurs with other google apps sutch as maps, calendar etc.
deleting the cache and then trying to update the app doesnt work either.
i also use google Keep alot.i installed the app and it says. "This app won't run unless you update Google Play Services." Ok, fine so i try to update Play services and Behold, the same error occurs, giving me the annoying "package file was not signed correctly.Uninstall the previous Copy if the app and try again." Error yet again.
i tried manually downloading the android play store apk. and installing a new version, but then it gives me this error "An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed".
Deleting the cache and disabling the app and THEN trying to install it wont work either.
Im using Nexus 4 with 4.2.1
I haven't rooted it, no roms.
And the best part!I got this phone 2 months ago, then the problem occured, then i gave it back to the provider (thanks to the warranty), i got it back today and the problem still occurs. What they did, was "reinstalled android on the phone".
So please, anyone, im about to drop the phone in the toilet if this problem does not get fixed.
I wont risk on "installing a custom rom" on the phone, i almost bricked my last LG GT540 Optimus.
