Persistent Sync Symbol - Vibrant General

As far as I can tell sync is working. Everything is syncing as it should, but the sync symbol continues to appear in my toolbar. Should I be worried or just ignore it?
I rebooted but it comes back after a few minutes and doesn't go away.
Edit: Well, I am wrong.... it doesn't work, at least not for the google. Works for facebook and twitter though.

I had a similar problem and the sync icon was constantly on the notification bar, and with mine, my gmail was not syncing at all and I wasn't receiving emails on my phone on top of that my battery life was terrible my phone died within 3-4 hrs. I reset my phone and now everything is back to normal again

Well, I am getting gmail.....
When you say "reset" do you mean factory reset, because that would be a pain and a half, since the phone is rooted (will it be after reset?) and RyanZA's lag fix is on it.
Should I delete the calender data? Might that help?

You're getting gmail just fine though? So are you saying that other features of Google's sync (like contacts) aren't working properly?
I doubt you need to factory reset. But you may want to try removing and re-adding that Google account.

Can't sync Calendar (no problem with other syncs)

A few days ago my device started acting way too slow. Then it was unable to perform the most simple task. I flashed it again (Touch Essential 3.5 by that time), and it returned to behave as usual.
The problem started after setting partnership, when I tried to sync calendar. Everything else sync without problem, but calendar synchronization never ended and forced me to stop it manually. After that, the unit was unable to start so only solution was to perform a hard reset and reflash it.
I did that 2 or 3 times. I even changed the ROM, but I'm still unable to sync calendar (which is lame because I REALLY need it !).
Any suggestion or idea ? An HTC Touch without calendar is like having a slow Ipod.
Thanks in advance,
G.
I also tried without SD. It worked for a few minutes (I've got around 1000 appointments, may be a bit less), but then again, it stucked and died, forcing me to hard reset.
I'm thinking about buying another phone, I'm devastated...
Still waiting for your help, guys. You're my only hope.
G.

My HD2 Stopped working!

- I cannot recieve messages or send messages.
- I cannot connect to the browser (altough facebook app works!) tried both wifi and 3g..
- The phone will not go into lockscreen when left untouched...
I tried turning the phone off and pulling out the battery 3 times... havn't done anything to cause this problem... just happened =/
looks like something (registry change, app installed, ...) has ****ed up your system. your last chance is a hard reset to set the phone back to it's factory state.

Activesync not syncing any more

I have just got a HD2, and used activesync successfully for the last 2 days to sync contacts and load the HTC hotfixes from their web site. Today however, it has just stopped working. The phone connects (but takes a very long time) and starts the sync process, but then the progress bar doesn't move at all for ages or sometimes moves to about half way in 10 minutes but won't get any further.
Before the status bar starts moving and randomly during the sync process I get the message "A problem has occured with services.exe Please tell microsoft about this problem...." The status bar usually starts moving a little after sending this error report. I also get the message "A problem has occured with connmgr.exe...."
Trying to stop activesync freezes the device completely for several minutes but it usually frees eventually although I have had pull the battery a couple of times.
Occasionally when it does start I get the warning message "There has been a change made on your server that requires you to re-synchronize all items on your device. All changes made since your last successful sync will be lost. Do you wish to continue?" although I have made no changes whatsoever on the PC. I've never come across a message like this from activesync before on any other device.
Has anyone had these problems or have any idea how I can fix them?
Cheers
Do you have sync problems with 3G or with USB? It usually happens to me with USB.
Try this. At Settings|Wireless, turn off Direct Push. Turn off Data connection. Go to mail. Do a Menu|SendReceive. If it works, then go back to enable those two options. I have no idea why but this often works.
Unpluging the USB often makes it better.
delete profiles in actvie
sync tools->active sync
soft reset
sync again
Be happy
Sfr0g, how do I delete the profile? I can't find that option.
Cheers

Excessive Syncing

I just flashed MikShift v 1.1 onto my shift last night, restored my apps with TB and then left the phone to do its sync with facebook contacts and whatnot. But to my surprise, when I woke up this morning the phone was still syncing but I only have about 4 contact pictures. I was on my home wifi network but I don't know if that would make a difference. Does anyone have a solution to this?
Try rebooting the phone. Had an issue similar to this a while back. Rebooting the phone solved it.
Try
1) removing and readding the account
2) run fix permissions from clockwork/rom manager
3) If that doesn't work then reflash.
I came on here to ask about excessive syncing as well, but I'm running the stock ROM on an unmodified EVO Shift. I am having issues with the sync icon in the notification area blinking on and off constantly. I have rebooted the phone multiple times and it has not helped.

any had this problem???
I'm having the same problem; it's been intermittent, but now that I've installed n129 (an hour or so ago) it's solid. I've rebooted without any improvement, so I'm going to back off a few versions and see what happens.
Edit: I backed all the way to n120 (oldest nightly I had on my card) + 063011 OC, lcd_density left at 161, same behavior. Wiping cache had no effect.
Does your google account normally show up in Settings/Accounts & sync?
Oh, I signed up for Google+ on Friday; any connection? g+, Market, Contacts cannot get to google.
New edit: I reflashed gapps, went through the setup at boot, and all is happy. Something was really hosed, though. In Settings/accounts I can now add another Google account.
Is there some setting or database where we can sign up our Google account without reflashing gapps? I'm going to poke through the gaps zip and see what I can find.

Quoting myself, but another thread indicates that deleting /data/system/accounts.db and rebooting might fix this. This ought to be a little less traumatic than reflashing gapps completely.

I wanted to mess with my LCD Density (which requires a reboot), so I deleted this file last thing. When my NC came back up, it didn't go straight into the setup thing like it does after flashing gapps, but the WiFi signal meter stayed white. I tapped Market, and it asked for a login. I supplied my login info, the meter went green after a few seconds, and all of the google-account stuff now appears to work.
I had to re-enter my account info into the LinkedIn and Facebook apps, but not XDA.
So this worked just fine.
One last bit: I updated to CM7 n132 and my accounts got scragged again. The new Market wouldn't add my Google account, even after deleting accounts.db, so I reflashed gapps (again!).
This time, I did get the "Touch Android to Begin" screen and got going again.
Very strange. Clearly, there are variables that I'm not aware of (what else is new?).
